Photoshope Elements when selecting an action, the paint brush tool doesn't work and system keeps freezing, then catching up every 30-45 seconds

I have been having this problem with elements ever since the last OS upgrade, but it wasn't all the time and it wasn't very bad. Now, I have upgraded my macbook again, and I cannot even edit a photo!! I open the photo, choose an action, say "smooth skin", then choose the paint brush, I start to "paint" over their face and it won't paint a line, I have to keep clicking it, click - it paints, move brush, click again - it paints. Plus, every time I choose a tool or an action, it freezes for about 10 seconds, then catches up to what I am doing, 30 seconds later, it freezes again. HELP!! I have 8 sessions to finish editing by this weekend!! I just want to cry!!

Try deleting the prefs and the saved application state:

Paint brush tool doesn't work with my Wacom tablet

My new pen tablet works well except when I try to use the paint brush tool. I was using NIK Color effects pro plug in and when I select the paint brush mode it didn't work. So I just tied the paint brush tool without going thru NIK and it still didn't work with the pen tablet. There must be something I haven't set correctly but can't figure it out.
Other tools work just fine such as the patch tool, etc. Any ideas?

i found out my prob!
here is what you do.
go to the "system preferences" on your dock.
click "software updates".
click "installed software"
if it shows something about a recent update about "EFI UPDATE, FIRMWARE, THUNDERBOLT" or anything like that, exit out of it.
go to mail.
click "mail" at the top.
click "preferences...".
find the account you are having trouble with, once you do, make sure its highlighted, then click the "-" at the bottom of the window (this will only effect that mail account, it will not effect your ical weather or not its synced thought that email account)
hit the "+" (right next to the "-") and add your accout back!

Maybe on the wrong layer.
It would be more beneficial if you capture your screen with the layers panel open and any layers that are collapsed, expand them.

I Created an adjustment (Curves) layer and did the curves adjustment. Then I did an Edit Fill (Normal Mode, 100% Opacity and Use: Black).
I then try to use the brush tool, but it doesn't work. I've done this hundreds of times before and suddenly it's not working. Rebooted the system, but that didn't help.
I know how to do a screen shot, but it doesn't paste onto this screen. How do I get that to you?

Does my problem has anything to do with SSL for mail settings? Cause when I tried re-adding it says something that I should try without SSL, and I did what you said and it gives me this "The IMAP server pop.mail.yahoo.com is not responding. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the incoming mail server field". Ahh.. this is so annoying, Apple what are you doing to me?! Or is Yahoo doing this to me?!

Extractions, refine edge, using the brush tool doesn't work on iMac but does on MacBookPro

When in the refine edge interface the brush tool will not work on my iMac but will on the MacBookPro. I haven't reloaded the program yet as I don't want to loose my plugins. Will they stay in tacked? Does anyone know how to fix this? Frustrated that Adobe won't help because I haven't the latest and greatest!!

I just chnged the password on myipod.Now when i try the new password it doesn't work,and when I try the old password it doesn't work.I know how to unlock it, but the last computer i synced it with isnt working so there's no way for me to get my stuffback

So changed the password on my ipod touch this afternoon, and eversince then the password is not working. I keep trying the old password and hen the new one but none are working. I know there is a way to unlock it, but that would delete all my stuff and the last computer i synced my ipod to is broken, so ther'es now ay for me to get my things back. It's entirely possible. And it sounds like you already know what needs to happen in order to correct it. I'm afraid you won't be able to salvage any data that hasn't been included in your latest backup of the device via iTunes.

It's sounds like you're using the Spot Removal tool. What happens depends on the Feather and Opacity controls. If the Opacity is at 0, you won't see any change. 100 will give the full healing or cloning, while feather controls the size of the edge of the healing.

My illustrator free trial does let me access the paint brush tool and other tools (artboards), is his a glitch or a restriction on the trial?

The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

The high light tool doesn't work

On a recently downloaded pdf file I cannot get the Highlight tool to function using Adobe Reader XI. It works fine with other pdf files on my computer. What's going on??

Also, press Ctrl+E to open the Properties bar and you'll be able to edit the fill color and opacity, to make it look more like a highlight.
