Photosmart 2710 prints garbage from Windows 8.1 but prints OK from Windows 7

Photosmart 2710 connected wirelessly to Verizon FIOS router, prints fine when sent files from Windows 7 clients (also connected wirelessly). When sent print jobs from a Windows 8.1 wireless client, printer produces page after page of single lines of mostly graphics characters, with an occasional page of several lines of what appears to be XML.
Printer driver was installed using the standard 'Add printer' button on the Devices and Printers dialog under Control Panel.
I have downloaded and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, which found no problems, but its Test Page produced the same erroneous behavior.
Windows 8.1 on Asus X551 notebook, Intel Celeron 1007U x64 processor, 64-bit OS.

PhotoSmart 2710 Printer Feeder cannot handle more than one page at a time

My printer works fine except that the paper feeder has difficulty feeding more than one sheet at a time. When I put a stack of more than one sheet of paper in the feeder tray, the printer might successfully print one or two pages, but then pages will overlap (top of printed page is on one sheet, bottom on another or multiple sheets will be grabbed at the same time so only the first sheet gets printed and the others are blank.
I do mostly standard office paper printing so no real experience with heavier pages. I get my paper from Office Supply stores, like Staples, and brand does not seem to make a difference. Have had same experience with Store Brands, National paper company brands and have even used HP branded paper with same results.
I have no problems when I manually feed individual sheets to the printer So I have essentially a single sheet printer. Any help appreciated.

Photosmart 2710 lost functions in windows 7

My Windows XP computer died so now I have Windows 7 starter on a netbook. HP website tells me to use the driver that comes with Windows 7 instead of the one I previously had (HP driver rub_w01_Americas_Euro1_NB).
But this doesn't have HP Director so I can't set up preferences such as a folder that I want scans to be saved to. (I use Evernote so I want to set up an option to save pdfs and tiffs to the folder that imports from.)
It's completely slowed down my workflow as I have to enter settings (what few there are now) manually.
I can't adjust the scan settings. The only way to scan seems to be to have to open my web browser and go to the EWS page. And that only gives me a choice of 4 settings. I scan all sorts of things and adjust resolution both for image quality and for file size. Sometims colour, sometimes not. I can't do that any more.
The "workarounds" I found on an HP support page were very limited and didn't address these issues.
I bought the Photosmart because it prints well and is flexible and I could set it up to do what I needed to quickly. Not any more.
Surely there is an updated driver for Windows 7 but I can't find it. I downloaded the HP wizard (HPPIW) that detects your system and says what driver to get: it only directs me to the one in Windows 7. I found this page which had a link to a driver but that seems to be for the C4780 so I haven't risked installing it.
Please can someone point me to the driver I need to get back the functions?
Or will the Windows XP driver I had before work OK under Windows 7 starter?

XP drivers will not work in Windows 7. You might try using Windows Fax and Scan to see if it offers any of the options you need.

Depending on which netbook you have there may be other programs installed that utilize your scanner and offer options. Even the 'Paint' app on all Windows machines has ability to 'Import' from a scanner, not sure what options it offers. It is in Start,All Programs,Accessories.

I understand that you are looking to use the Photosmart 2710 with Windows 8.1 RT, but are unable to locate a driver. In my attempt to locate a driver I have come up empty handed. It appears that this printer is not supported for printing from Windows RT.

HP Photosmart 7520 printer window displays "Loading" can't copy/scan/fax from printer.

Our power went out approximately five days ago. Once the power came back on I unplugged our computer and printer, replugged them in tried to restart each. We are set up wireless....through our landline phone service and satelite TV. The PC works fine, I can print from the PC with the HP Photosmart 7520 printer and it prints fine. However, the printer does not display any functions in the printer screen. I am unable to get it to come back so that I can copy/scan/fax. The printer window just keeps displaying the word "Loading" and the circle keeps going around on the printer screen (for 3 hours today.....same thing before....I keep shutting the printer down and retrying to no avail) We did get a message of some error "syntec" not connected. We have no idea what that is. Everything is connected exactly how it was prior to our power going out. The printer is just over a year old. We seem to keep having issues of various kinds with this printer. We are not very tech savy but, can usually get things accomplished on our PC and we have used the printer often to copy/scan/fax. Thanks for any help, much appreciated.

I saw your post about how ever since your power went out, the display on the printer will not function properly, causing you to not be able to scan, copy, or fax. My best suggestion would be to try another power reset (below), and if the screen still does not work properly, to contact us directly to see what your replacement options are for another printer.
Reset Instructions:
Press the Power button to turn on the product.
With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
Make sure the printer is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors. This ensures the printer is receiving full power.

Is there a way to upgrade my Photosmart 2710 all-in-one to e-print or air print from my iPad 2?

I just purchased an iPad 2 running iOS 5.2 and want to find a way to print to my Photosmart 2710. Any Chance? I guess I could transfer documents to my PC via iTunes and then print, but its an obvious hassle.

Follow the steps below and check if that resolve the issue:
1. Open Mcafee software, from the Virus and Spyware Protection section click on Schedule and run scans. Click on Real time scanning and then on Turn Off. select till I restart the PC and confirm by clicking the Turn Off button.
Now try reinstalling the HP Software and check if the installation goes as expected.
If the issue persists continue following the next steps below:
2. Open the run dialog by clicking both the Windows key and the R key on your keyboard. Type %windir% and click on OK.
3. Type hpoins*.dat into the top search bar, if there are any results rename the extention into old instead of dat. (e.g. hpoins1.old)
4. Type hpwins*.dat into the top search bar, if there are any results rename the extention into old instead of dat. (e.g. hpwins1.old)
5. Launch the Run dialog by clicking both the Windows key and the R key on your keyboard. Type MSIEXEC /UNREGISTER into the Run dialog and click on OK.
6. Launch the Run dialog by clicking both the Windows key and the R key on your keyboard. Type MSIEXEC /REGSERVER into the Run dialog and click on OK.
7. Run the installation file and check for any difference.

HP Photosmart 2710 - driver - Windows 8 load no go help !!!!

Running in circles trying to load the HP Photosmart 2710 All In One - driver - on the newer Windows 8 Desktop computer. We are set up with a router & the rest of the laptops work fine. All In One HP Print Support Screen and tried to down load the driver through the wizzard & manually. I have no signs that it is attempting to load.

With the 2710 printing via the USB cable we know the class driver is available on the computer. I want you to have Windows Defender disabled, you can enabled it once the printer is added.
Remove the USB connection and restart the computer.
Open Devices and Printers then click Add a printer.
Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer then select your 2710 (if the 2710 does not display in this list the printer is not being seen over the network and will have to be setup on the network again)
Under Manufacturer select HP then under printers look for and select your 2710 (it may display as 2700)
Finish the install and try to print.

Welcome to the HP Forums!
Since the installation disk does not support Windows 8.1, I would suggest trying to download, and install the drivers directly from the HP Support website. I have included a link to the 'HP Deskjet F4200/F4224 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver'. Once the software is downloaded, open the software, and follow through the on screen instructions for installation.
Please let me know the outcome of installing the software.

Entering a "$" in the SSID password when setting up an HP Photosmart 2710 all-in-one printer

I have a Photosmart 2710 all-in-one printer, and I am trying to set it up wirelessly. However, my SSID as a "$" in the password, and I can't find any way to enter this symbol in the wireless setup on the printer. Also, when I try to run the HP Printer setup wizard I downloaded from the HP support site, it says this printer is not supported by the wizard?

You must change your wireless password in the router to not conntain any special characters. Once done, go back and input the password in the printer.

Photosmart 2710 cannot reconnect wireless with new router (windows xp)

Have windows xp laptop and hp 2710 printer will not connect wirelesslysince I changed routers to netgear wnr2000. Was previously connected with lynksys wrt54g. During installation the wizard recognizes the printer and its ip address but when told to install the wizard goes back to the "find printer" screen. My wife's is connected with vista. I can connect with usb.

Your new router will have to make 802.11g available for the printer (along with 802.11n is OK) and the printer will only support WPA, not WPA2 encryption. If all that is OK, then:
On the front of the printer: setup > network > reset network defaults.
Now, run the wireless setup wizard from that same menu.

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today with installing your HP Photosmart 7350 Printer on your new Windows 8.1 computer. Because this printer did not have Windows 7 drivers either I am going to provide you the generic troubleshooting that worked for that Operating System in hopes that it will also work in Windows 8.
Step 1: Install the driver:
Make sure that the USB cable is not connected to the product. If the USB cable is connected to the product, disconnect it.
Open your Start Screen either by selecting the Windows button on the bottom left hand corner of your Desktop or by selecting the Windows button on the bottom left of your keyboard, to the right of the Ctrl button
Once the Start screen opens type Devices and Printers
Click on Devices and Printer to open it
In the Devices and Printers folder click Add a printer. The Add Printer window opens
Click Add a local printer
Click Use an existing port.
Click the Use an existing port drop-down list, select LPT1: (Printer Port), and then click Next.
Under Manufacturer in the Install the printer driver window, click HP.
Under Printers, select the Deskjet 5550
Note: The alternate HP driver for your product might not be currently installed on your computer, but it is available through Windows Update. Click the Windows Update button to select additional print drivers. Select the alternate driver for your product, and then click Next. You must connect to the Internet before using Windows Update.
In the Printer name text box, type HP Photosmart 7350 then click Next. The print driver starts the installation process.
When the installation is complete, a message displays on the computer stating that the product was added successfully
In the message window, click Finished.
Connect the USB cable to the product, and connect the USB cable to the computer. A Device driver software was not successfully installed window opens.
Click Close () to close the window
In the Devices and Printers window, right-click the name of the product and then click Printer Properties. The Printer Properties window opens.
Click the Ports tab.
Click the drop down menu, and then change the port from LPT1 to USB and click OK.
Close the Devices and Printers window
Try to print!

How can you print mirror image from word 2010 on the HP Photosmart c310 printer

Miss-spells your name? or what?
How have you set up your Page set-up?
It has to agree with how you are feeding the envelope in and what printer driver you are using.

Had the same problem, got it working by using Photosmart 8200 driver. You have to go to add a printer, select Dot4 USB for the port, and then pick the 8200 driver from the list that Windows 7 ships with. Once you do, it just works. My test page printed on the first try. HP could make this a *lot* easier for everyone, but I guess they are in the business of selling more printers.

Is there any way to print a photo from my iphone on plain paper on my photosmart plus printer?

Whenever I try to use Airprint to print a photo from my iPhone to my Photosmart Plus printer, it tries to print it on photo paper from the photo paper tray.
I want it to print on the plain paper in the regular tray.
I read online where this is possible with the iPrint app - but when I went to the App Store, there is no iPrint App. I found a sticky post here saying that it has been removed from the App Store in anticipation of a new ePrint Home & Business version that won't be available everywhere until September.
So, in the meantime, is there anyway to change the location of where the photos from the iPhone print?

Most likely their is not, as printing pictures is standard set to photopaper as you most likely need good quality. Pictures on normal paper are not considered good quaity and thus not set as standard.
