  • Hp photosmart 5510 won't scan in colour on my mac

My HP Photosmart 5510 will not print in colour to my mac documentary page.

I assume you may try scanning from the printer front panel and the scanned page appear as Grayscale only?
If I assumed incorrectly, please clarify the exact problem and the OS details as listed above.
If my assumtion is correct, please try the following steps:
*If you are using Mac OS X 10.7, install the Critical Update below, otherwise skip that part (The OS version can be checked by clicking the Apple Icon > About This Mac):
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL41827/mp-101648-1/HP_Scan_for_Mac_OS_X_10.7_Update.dmg
Now change the device settings as following:
    1. Open the HP Utility and select your device.
    2. From Scan Settings open the "Scan to Computer".
    3. Click the "Scan Tasks" tab.
    4. Select the Scan Shortcut used to scan, then click Edit.
    5. In the section of Scan from an HP Device click on the blue triangle to enlarge the menu.
    6. From the enlarged menu now open the drop-down menu next to Mode and set as Color.
    7. Click OK and try scanning.
Please let me know of any change,
    Shlomi

    Hi @JaneCat,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you cannot scan photos from your HP Photosmart 5510 to a file on your Mac running Yosemite. I am sorry to hear this, but I am happy to help!
I would recommend downloading the full feature software and drivers from our website, HP Photosmart 5510 e-All-in-One Printer Full Feature Software and Drivers, as it is compatible with Mac OS X Yosemite.
If you are still having issues, I would also recommend this scanning guide, A 'No computer found' Message Displays during Scanning. Then follow the steps for the section that says it is for, Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard, OS X v10.7 Lion, OS X v10.8 Mountain Lion, or OS X v10.9 Mavericks. As these steps will still work on Mac OS X Yosemite.
I would also see this how to scan guide, Scanning with the Full Feature HP Software in OS X v10.10 Yosemite.
Hope this information is helpful, and thank you for posting!

  • Photosmart 5510 - connection to Mac

The Photosmart 5510 software is installed on my Mac, the printer has found the wifi and is connected, but my Mac is not connecting with my printer and refuses to 'find' it on setup.
I have the USB cable and this is not helping either. Ideas? Thanks

You are going to use an ethernet cable to connect the Mac to one of the 3 lan ports on your TC. The USB port is or connecting a printer or an usb hard drive to that you want to share.

  • How do I add an HP Photosmart 5510 wi fi printer to my i Mac

How do I add an HP Photosmart 5510 wi fi printer to my i Mac

    Hi, davidfromickenham.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you are wanting to connect your Wi-Fi printer to your iMac.  Here is an article that will help you with that process.
Add a Wi-Fi or network printer
Update your software: Choose Apple menu > App Store, click Updates, then install any software updates listed. Even if no updates appear, this ensures that OS X has the latest information about printer software it can download from Apple. If you don’t do this, you may see a message that software isn’t available when you connect your printer. If you have an AirPrint printer, no software is installed so you don’t need to check for software updates.
Prepare your printer: Use the instructions that came with your printer to unpack the printer, install ink or toner, and add paper. Turn on the printer and make sure it’s not displaying any errors.
Connect your printer: Follow the instructions that came with the printer to connect it to the network. For more information, see the Apple Support article Connecting a Wi-Fi printer to your Wi-Fi network.
Add the printer to your list of available printers: Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Printers & Scanners. If you don’t see your printer listed on the left, click Add at the bottom of the list. A dialog appears listing printers on your local network. It may take a minute or two for your printer to appear. Select your printer when it appears in the list, then click Add. If you see a message prompting you to download new software, make sure to download and install it. If your printer still doesn’t appear in the list, try adding the printer by its IP address (see below).
When you add a printer, OS X can usually detect whether the printer has special accessories installed, such as additional paper trays, extra memory, or a duplex unit. If it can’t, a dialog appears that lets you specify them. Make sure the settings in that dialog accurately reflect your printer’s installed accessories so you can take full advantage of them.
OS X Yosemite: Add or remove a printer

  • IPad2, Macbook air and iPhone 4S doesnt find/recognize HP photosmart 5510 printer ?

Why MacBook Air, iPad2 and iPhone 4S doesn't find / recognize anymore HP photosmart 5510 printer ?

I would suggest starting with your MacBook Air.
The Photosmart 5510 is listed as supported by Apple.  So I suggest setting it up under your MacBook Air as described in this Mac Print 101 article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4670
Then hopefully your iOS devices will see it on AirPrint.

  • Photosmart 5510

I keep getting alignment messages for my printer even though it was just installed and aligned.  The messages won't go away and keep multiplying.  They can't be closed out.  How do I get id of this problem?

I am also having this problem with my Photosmart 5510.
My husband and I have both installed the hp software and have used the scan and print functions, which does not produce output that is poorly aligned.  We've re-aligned the printer several times, but the request pop up again as soon as we finish aligning.
In case this makes a difference, we are both using the printer wirelessly from our Macs (running OS X 10.6).
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?  It's especially annoying because the windows don't have a "close", "cancel" or ignore option, so they just sit in the background of my desktop.

  • Photosmart 5510 double printing

Using Mac osx Yosemite, Word 2011. Had same problem under Mavericks.
When printing only one side, I get 2 copies. How to avoid this? It has not always been so, when new it was ok. Maybe printer updated sw issue?
I remember that my wifes C5100 had the same issue some years back, and that was addressed and resolved by a HP fix. I have the same problem now with my PS 5510 but could not find any HP fix.

    Hi renedk,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having some issue with the printer printing double prints.
I do have a few suggestions that we can try in the attempt to troubleshoot this issue.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
I also suggest that we try to resolve the issue by Doing a Reset on the Printing system and then reinstalling the software and drivers.
I also suggest doing a Repair disk permissions.
Here is the link for the HP Photosmart 5510 e-All-in-One Printer Full Feature Software and Drivers.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to write me back at any time.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.
    Thanks for your time.

  • Yosemite and Photosmart 5510

I installed Yosemite, and now printing on my Photosmart 5510 still works, but scanning does not. The photosmart does not seem to find the mac. The printer is not on the list of drivers, so I think HP presumes it should be broken down by now. But it has not, so, I'm looking for a solution.

Greetings @Geejee and welcome to the community,
I understand you are now running into scanning troubles after upgrading to Yosemite. The troubleshooting is actually the same for Yosemite as it was for Mavericks. I am going to suggest some troubleshooting that should help you scan again.
    In this order, try:
Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system
    Repair disk permissions
    Restart your Mac
Re-add the printer, this is the direct link to the software: HP Photosmart 5510 e-All-in-One Printer Full Feature Software and Drivers
    Try scanning again
Let me know the outcome please!

  • Duplex printing not available on Photosmart 5510 properties window

My Photosmart 5510 All-in-One has avery limited choice  when I go to properties options i.e no duplex printing (which I use regularly) no choise for colour , gray or black and few others diferent options. My old HP Al -in One had a fantastic number of options to choose from for printing.
I've noticed that only the Basic driver is downloaded and installed and I can not get it to download and install the full version. I have tried with the installation CD it came with as well as directly from HP web site.
    Can anyone help?

Is there a link for installing the Photosmart 5510 all-in-one on a Mac with OSX?  My friend needs to have draft mode available and I will be installing this new printer for her.  Too bad it doesn't offer duplex printing.

  • I'm having trouble installing my hp photosmart 5510 printer to my laptop.

My husband and I recently bought an HP photosmart 5510 series printer. We were able to install it on his laptop but not on mine. I've tried installing it over and over and even troubleshooting it but I still get nothing. I'm not sure what I need to do in order to install it onto my laptop since I can't use the software it came with because my laptop doesn't have a cd drive in it. Can anyone help me out?

I don't have Lion, but Image Capture works for my HP PhotoSmart All-in-one.
Often scanning from the scanner is only supported for Windows, not Mac's
VueScan would probably also work, there is a free trial.

  • Printing problem with HP Photosmart 5510

This is not really a Mavericks problem but I was hoping that someone out ther who owns a HP Photosmart 5510 all in one printer may know the answer. All was working fine up untill I (foolishly) changed the printing mode to economy black & white and now I can not get it back to printing in colour. Anyone know how to do this please?
Sorry that this is not a specivic Apple problem but I am desperate!
    Cheers.

    Hello wil46,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I understand you have recently changed the black ink cartridge on your HP Photosmart C8180. I would first like to make sure that the cartridges are properly vented, take a look at the picture below:
Please take out the cartridge and inspect it, clean the contacts with a lint free cloth (coffee filter works best) and some distilled water, also clean inside the printer where the cartridge sits. Depending on how long the printer was sitting for or an empty cartridge this can sometimes cause the nozzles to dry out which could cause the black ink not to print.
Now let's go ahead and clean the printhead, from the front panel of your C8180 follow the steps listed below:
Setup Menu > Tools > Clean Printhead
You may need to do this a few times, if you see the black ink quality getting better please continue with the cleanings.
Let me know if this was helpful, I will watch for your reply.
    Thanks,
    HevnLgh
