Photosmart 5520 wont print

A few days ago I purchaced hp photosmart 5520, which initially worked fine (although was difficult to instal).
today when i attempted to print it just wouldnt. my laptop says that the pages that i wanted to print are waiting to print but, its been hours and it still hasnt done anything.
i assume the printer is working to some degree as i copied a document on it and that worked instantly.
its really quite urgent someone help!

Welcome to the HP Forums!
Having been able to make a photocopy on the printer, this proves that the hardware of the printer is working properly. This does eliminate a lot of troubleshooting, as it brings the issue down to either a connection issue, or a software issue. I have included the document 'Can't Print? Print Jobs are Stuck in the Print Queue'. Please select your operating system, and follow through the steps in order.
Please let me know if you are able to print after these troubleshooting steps, or if you are still getting an error.

I'm sorry to hear you've been having issues with your Photosmart 5520 and printing in black ink only. I will certainly do my best to help
I will suggest that you begin with following the steps within this Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages document. Those steps should be able to get the black ink flowing properly again.
If that doesn't resolve the issue, please let me know whether the printer is still under warranty or not and what country you're located in. Please feel free to private message me the country information if you'd like to keep it off the forums!

HP photosmart C5280 wont print on cd/dvd

HP photosmart C5280 wont print on to DVD/CD's it says this printer is not ecwipt to print dretliey onto CD/DVD's
but it has the drop down tray for it and the softwere for it ?

You're very much right. There are several different companies that make software that allows you to print directly to the CD/DVD. The link below will take you to a list of those software packages. Hope that helps.

HP Photosmart D110a wont print from HP Pav dv7 laptop, getting weird error msg - can anyone help??

Im running on a Windows Visa Home Premium OS, looks like Service Pack 2, and have not made any system changes to my laptop or upgraded anything recently.
Was able to print fine from my laptop on Monday, but 3 days later Im getting this error message: ""the job failed to print due to an error in the printing system" when trying to print a standard MS Word doc.
I can still get the printer to print fine by using the control panel on the unit itself and requesting to "Run a Wireless Network Test" and also when I've requested a "Print Status Report", "Print Quality Report", etc. But when sending files from the laptop it refuses to work.
If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know - desperate to get this thing back up online but unfortunately Im a tech idiot and havent been able to solve it yet, though Ive searched for hours now it seems.

5520 wont print black ink

can someone please help me with this issue.. my 5520 wont print black.. it prints color ok and it also prints grey it just wont print black it stopped working after i replaced the cartridge.. i then replaced the black one a second time and it still doesnt work.. i have tried all of the cleaning suggested and have also cleaned the vent but it looked as as picture and it still doesnt print black.. please help i cant afford new printer and i cant afford to buy ink ...help!!!!

As this is a 5520 I would advise calling HP Support, even if you're out of warranty, as you may require a replacement printer

Photosmart 5520 not printing borderless

Hi,I have a Photosmart 5520 printer and use Mac computers (and sometimes ipads/iphones). One of the features of this printer that led to me buying it is that it is meant to have borderless printing. Most of my printing is done from MS Word. Although the printer is meant to be borderless, if I have Word documents with headers/footers, they always get cut off. There is at least a good centimetre or two of white border around the documents that I print. This is very annoying if I have spent a long time formatting a document assuming that there will be no borders! Can someone tell me how I am meant to print borderlessly? I am assuming that it is just a setting somewhere that I am missing but I cannot find it! Is this something that I will have to set up on all devices that use the printer? Or can I somehow make it a setting on the actual printer so that everything sent to it prints borderlessly? Thanks

The Photosmart 5520 (and other HP printers) can print borderless, but with a few cavaets: Borderless printing is only enabled when printing on photo paper. (Plain paper would cockle if printed to the edge, this would cause jamming.)When printing borderless the print is oversized by a few percent to make sure that the image prints without leaving any white space if the media is printed skewed. Borderless printing (and photo media selection) are not compatible with two-sided printing.

Photosmart 5520 not printing black

As with many others here, my HP Photosmart 5520 is not printing in black. Have gone through all the HP troubleshooting, as well as the steps on the forums, short of disassembling and removing the print head.
Replaced the print cartridge twice with genuine HP 564 and HP 564XL, checked the cartridge vents, and have run the clean printer head clean utilities 10x, including turning off, waiting several hours, and going through the process again. It still won't print black, and the print quality diagnostic "black" box is completely blank, or has a few faint gray lines.
Printer warranty expired 1/2014. Was a HP customer for life, but now am very frustrated. This is the second HP printer in a row that has failed soon after the warranty expired, and with the exact same problem. My printer's info is below. I am in Beaverton, Oregon, USA

Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are running into some print quality issues on your HP Photosmart 5520, you are unable to print in black ink.
You have exhausted the steps here: Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages, with no success.
Please note: There are three printhead cleaning stages. Complete all three stages if necessary. If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes after the last (third) cleaning stage to start the first stage of the cleaning process over again.
I suspect the issue may be the printer and not the cartridge. I highly recommend you call our technical support at 800-474-6836, I trust they will be able to assist you regardless of the warranty status. HP Photosmart 5520 only printing black

I have a new Photosmart 5520, loaded with new HP cartridges. The ink colour levels are showing as fine, but it will not print in colour, only black. Have tried with various PCs. Test sheet and copying also comes out mono.

Have you checked if the print settings are set to print in grayscale/black only?

Photosmart 5525 wont print black

printer will not print black, all other colors print fine, have run clean print head so many times that my new colored ink cartiridges are low on ink. When it runs the clean head the black column is empty no black at all. I have no other ideas on what to do except maybe get a new printer...not an hp. Also i have had this issue before and i have cleaned the heads and it is working again, so i dont knwo if that one head is clogged or what ...and yes i did try anther ink cartiridge. any help would be appreciated

If the steps there do not resolve the issue please contact HP Support, even if the printer is no longer under warranty. If the above does not give satisfactory results then please post back here and mention what country you are in.

Photosmart 6515 Wont Print Black Ink

I too am having the same problem as everyone else. I have had 3 printer from HP and always bragged about how good they are...All of a sudden 2 of the 3 went bad...the HP 6515 wont print the black ink, as well as the Photosmart B209.
I spent over $100 on ink for both of these and they wont print...I tried all the little suggestions.
This will be my last HP when the new one I purchased a few months back goes out. I think that is why they are $100 machines...they only last 1 year and you have to go buy a new one...
Very dissapointed!!!

Photosmart 5520 - damaged print cartridge msge but cant access cartridges to change

I've just replaced a black 364 XL print cartrdige and got the message that it was damaged. I tried to open the printer to take it out and replace it but the cartridges are all stuck to the right of the access area and won't move so I can't get at it. I've looked at the HP forums and gone through all the steps around turning it on and off, checking its not a paper jam etc but no joy. Can anyone help please? Thanks

I understand your carriage is stuck on the right hand side using the Photosmart 5520. I will gladly help you out! Please make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector. I just want to see if this makes a difference.

HP Photosmart C4600 wont print using Airport Extreme

I recently purchased my MacBook Pro and accessories and my HP printer wont print. It would add to my printers under Airport Express yet wouldnt print anything out.( Always said 'locating printer') I've read other suggestions and none seemed to help or supported my printer. HELP ME!! : )

Is the AirPort Extreme model a newer rectangular model, or an older
orb-shaped 54M model with built-in modem, antenna jack & USB port?
Some printers don't appreciate the courtesy extended them by the
great AirPort Extreme's ability to connect various brands via USB
which otherwise would not be supported wirelessly.
I have an HP (all-in-one) that will not work as a USB wireless printer
via the AirPort Extreme (or AirPort Express) base station's USB. Yet
a slightly older Epson Photo printer will print satisfactorily through the
USB port in AirPort wireless base station models. The only failing, in
that situation, is lack of printer Utility function; it works only by wire.
Some printers are not supported in the grand scheme of things, in
regard to USB printing from the AirPort's USB port. However for
years prior to Time Machine and other official hardware support for
wireless connections to external hard disk drives, USB 2.0 HDDs
(storage) were supported by the orb-shaped AirPort Extreme base.
However, that's another topic...
I was unable to find a different driver from HP to aid in USB support
over wireless, per the AirPort base station. Other drivers, such as
those from http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php didn't,
when it came to my HP OfficeJet printer. Not sure about later ones.
The Epson model I have uses Bonjour printing to be seen by the AEBS.

PHOTOSMART 370 WONT PRINT FROM MY LAPTOP

i WAS ABLE TO PRINT PICTURES FROM MY MEMORY CARD ON MY CAMERA HOWEVER WHEN TRYING TO PRINT PICTURES SAVED ON MY COMPUTER NOTHING HAPPENS. i HAVE IT PLUGED INTO WALL FOR POWER AND INTO LAPTOP WITH A USB CABLE. WHEN i CLOCK ON A PICTURE AND HIT THE PRINT BUTTON I GET AN ERROR IN MY PRINT QUE. aM i UPPOSED TO SEE THE PICTURE IN THE VIEWFINEDER ON THE PRINTER?

Please read this post then provide some details. What operating system? Are there any error messages on the printer or computer screen? What program are you using to print?
Do you have the Photosmart 370 driver installed on your computer?
The picture would not show up on the printer.

Photosmart 7510 wont print black

Help!!! on my last tax forms for my business and I can't get the black to work even with a new cartridge!!! screen shows a full black but when i print a report for the ink it shows nothing!!! i have to have my printer fast!!!

You did not go unheard, I see you are unable to print black from your Photosmart 5510. If this is still unresolved, I'd like to help.
Please complete all of the steps in the following document; Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages. Although I hope this resolves the issue, it might not. If the issue persists, please post back with your warranty status. Use the following link to check your warranty.
