Photosmart 7520 connectivity

My photosmart 7520 just recently started loosing connectivity to my network. The router seems to be OK because all my other devices are OK! When I go into SETTINGS and select my network, it may try 4 0r 5 times entering the password to get it to re-connect????? Any ideas?

Chautauquadave,
Here is a link to a document on HP.com that should help.   I would suggest looking a step 7 and set a static IP address for your printer.

  • Cannot reach live chat for a Photosmart 7520 connection issue

I am trying to reach live chat for a connection issue which I dealt with last week with my Photosmart 7520. I have  case number and my printer is under warrenty.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publically post ( serial numbers and case details).

  • HP photosmart 7520 connects to wrong access point and looses connection

I recently installed a remote wireless access point in an outbuilding.  I'm using a router with the same SSID and password as my main router with the same security settings.  Only the main router is set to issue IP addresses.  The system works fine with two laptops, a desktop, an Ipad and an Ipod.  It provides continuous connections from my house to the outbuilding.  Only the HP Photosmart seems to be an issue.  At first the system worked fine then after a couple of days it lost its connection.  I tried to the Wireless Setup Wizzard with no success.  The Wireless Network Test results indicated that MAC address filtering may be enabled.  This is not the case, MAC filtering in not enabled on either router.  The next morning the printer was fine and connected again.  I suspect that it is detecting the remote router and trying to connect through it.  During the setup a warning came up indicating that two routers were detected with the same SSID and Password and that the printer might try to connect to the wrong router.  It should not matter since the remote router connects and is issued IP addresses through the main router.  The only difference in the routers is the BSSID.  This uses the same number as the  MAC filtering address, so I suspect this may be the problem.  Any suggestions on a work around.  The only thing I have found that solves the problem is turning off the remote router.

    Hello there -
Is it possible your new remote access point only supports the 5Ghz band for N connection, or that it's connected to your primary router through a wireless N connection in the 5Ghz band?  The 7520 only supports 2.4Ghz N connections.  If your primary access point supports both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz, that is likely why it's able to connect there while it cannot connect to the new access point.  Many newer laptops and iPad/pods utilize 5Ghz N, which would explain why they can connect and your 7520 cannot.  I'd recommend moving the 7520 closer to the primary router and using AirPrint to send your jobs.

    Hi there,
If you have previously setup some scheduled print deliveries, you will need to cancel these from where they were originally setup.
They were most likely setup through your e-Print centre login so you should be able to cancel them there. Here's a link to some infomation on Managing Scheduled Delivery Print Apps:

  • HP Photosmart 7520 prints garbage text after being idle

I have a new HP Photosmart 7520 connected via WiFi to an HP TouchSmart 600 running Windows 7. After the printer has sat idle for some time, the computer seems to lose the connection to the printer. When I try to print, documents pile up in the print queue with nothing printing. I'm not sure what finally wakes it up, but when it starts to print, the first document printed (most often from MS Outlook running on my VMWare connection to my work network, but also from Firefox and not using VMWare) prints with good graphics but garbled text. If I print the same document a second time, it's always good, but the first one after the dropped connection is restored is always bad.
Perhaps I could avoid this if the WiFi connection between the printer and computer never timed out, but I haven't found a way to prevent the timeout. Any other suggestions would be most welcome.

I am not sure about the Photosmart 7520, but some of the printers in the past would only "listen" on whatever port was first printed to after powering on.  You may need to turn the printer off and back on after connecting to the USB port the first time.
Other than that, what did not work?  Please let me know where things go wrong and any error messages at that point on the computer or printer. The "How to Install" tab says:
    HP Device Update Steps:
    1. Download the HP Device Update exe file to an appropriate location on your system.
    2. Double click on the downloaded file to start the extraction and installation.
    3. In Windows Vista or Windows 7 operating systems, you may be prompted to enter Administrator credentials if your login privileges do not have administrator rights. If you are an administrator, you may be prompted for permission to continue with the installation. Please select to continue the process.
    4. Follow the on-screen instructions to perform the installation. If you see the success screen with the following message at the end of the installation, "Device Update Successful", press the "Close" button to finish the printer update.

  • How to connect to the HP Photosmart 7520?

How do I connect my Mac to the HP Photosmart 7520?  I've been trying to do this all afternoon.
Error message is Setting up Photosmart 7520 Series [D52F8A]
The software fo this printer is currently unavailable.  lase the printer's manufacturer for the latest software."
I realize that I should contact HP.  Have you ever tried to that?  I've written in capital letters over and over.

I am having the exact same problem. I have downloaded the HP software for OSX. But, when I install it, and the system asks me to add the printer, the dialogue goes out to Apple's site and comes back with:
Setting up Photosmart 7520 series The software for this printer is currently unavailable. Please contact the printer's manufacturer for the latest software.
I cannot get it to find the HP software that has been loaded.
    Any ideas?

  • HP Photosmart 7520 not connected to computer when trying to scan

    Hi!!
I have an IMac.  I can print from my computer, and my computer recognizes my printer (HP Photosmart 7520), however, my printer will not connect to my iMac...Help!  ;-)
When I am trying to scan, the exact warning is:  "No Connection:  No computer is connected.  See printer Help and documentation to troubleshoot the connection."
When I go to printer Help and doc, it says to install the HP software on my computer.
I already went through most of the troubleshooting steps I could find (on my computer and online) - they only dealt with my computer not recognizing my printer...not vice versa...
The little bluetooth light is lit and going strong...
    Thanks in advance!!!

    Hi @ktsue,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you cannot scan with your HP Photosmart 7520 on your Mac. I am happy to help you with this scanning issue!
For further assistance, I will need some additional information:
The version of Mac Operating System that you are using. To find the exact version, visit this link. Whatsmyos.
If the printer is connected, Wireless, or USB.
If the printer is able to make copies. Copy Text or Mixed Documents.
If the power cable is plugged into a surge protector, or directly to the wall outlet. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well.
In the meantime, please see this scanning guide, A 'No Computer Detected' or 'Connection Error' Message Displays for HP Photosmart 7520 e-All-in-One .... (Even though the guide title may not match your issue, I believe the solutions will help).

  • How do I connect a HP Photosmart 7520 to my MacBook Pro?

Having an issue connecting my wireless HP Photosmart 7520 to my Macbook. Anyone have any advice?

I have installed software similar to what I've been using for years to communicate with the same device hooked up on PCs. Even through that software I get the message that I can only connect with bluetooth, PDA, modem ect.
Is there some generic software or specific to the device you refer to? I've also installed this device on Mac's in the past, through the same software.

  • Photosmart 7520 disconnects internet connection

I recently bought a Photosmart 7520 all-in-one which is connected to my home wi-fi.  It works fine except for one very annoying thing.  If I print something, leave the printer on and walk away, when I come back a while later my Mac has disconnected from the Internet.  Then I have to restart my Mac in order to regain access.  I can get around this problem by turning the printer off when I am through printing but that means I have to turn it on every time I want to print something - and then it goes through its start procedure which, I suspect, is not good for the unit.  As the printer sits right next to my Mac, I would be quite happy to just connect it via a USB port but I have not been able to figure out how to transition it off my wi-fi connection to an old fashioned cable hook-up.  Alternatively, I'm also happy to use the Wi-Fi connection if I can leave the printer on without disrupting my overall system.
    This question was solved.

    Hi @carmeljacques2
    I would be happy to help you with maintain your internet connection. If you want to simply connect a USB cable, proceed with the following steps;
    Reset Printing System
Click the Apple icon (   ), and then click System Preferences.
In the Hardware section, click Print & Fax/Scan. The Print & Fax/Scan  dialog box opens.
Right-click (or  Ctrl  +click) in the left panel, and then click Reset printing system…
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type the correct Name and Password.
Click OK to reset the printing system. The Print & Fax dialog box shows no printer selected
Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol.
Connect the USB cable from the printer to the Mac.
Resetting the printing system will delete the wireless driver the mac is communicating to, and connecting the USB cable will add the USB driver.
If you prefer to keep the wireless connection, we will have to troubleshoot the issue to determine the root cause, and then work towards a solution. If you do indeed want to proceed with the wireless troubleshooting, please let me know if you at any point setup a static/ manual IP address for the printer.

  • Can not connect to server HP Photosmart 7520

i am getting "cannot connect to server" on touchscreen for HP Photosmart 7520 when trying to access apps like "samples". Wifi router name and connection verified in settings. Have tried replugging printer and resetting router with no change. Items will still eprint from iPad2, computer and smartphone though...

    Hi there, try the following:
Copy the printers IP address into the URL bar of the browser of your choice on an internet connected device (laptop/smartphone/tablet) that is on the same network as the printer
This will open the printers embedded web server page (EWS)
Click on the "Network" tab on the page (see the example for a PS 6510 below)
Set a manual DNS server setting using the values in the image below (8888 / 8844)
Click Apply and try accessing apps from the printer front panel again
Hope this information helps resolve the problem.

  • HP Photosmart 7520 unable to connect to Web Services, also for 7525 ??

I have same problem with WEB services for a 7525 as posts for 7520.
Home screen web acces works, printing works, etc. only the scan to e-mail which did work, now  doesn't.
Spent  great deal of time trying to make it work per post 7520 suggestions.
Is the' solution' post for the WEB problem also applicable to the 7525 wireless printer??
If not then, how do I correct??
Is this representative of the NEW HP quality for its productws??

     Hi @RICH7520
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.  I gather that you are getting the connection error message when enabling the web services on your Photosmart 7525 printer.
Yes the solution for the Photosmart 7520 printer to set a manual IP address and manual DNS server is valid for the Photosmart 7525 printer.  They are both members of the Photosmart 7520 series of printers.  For easy reference I’ve included the link to the post that has the steps with screen shots on how to do this.  Even though the screen shots are for a Photosmart 7510, the steps are the same and screen shots are the same.
