Photosmart 8050 which inks to use

Do I need to use black inks when printing photos? OR>> Do I use the combo of   the tri color and the  photo? I am thoroughly confused !

This can be simple or complicated depending on your threshold for "best" photo's.  I will describe the various cartridges and their uses, then suggest a few options.
The 96 cartridge is pigmented black ink.  It is used for printing text and some plain paper or inkjet paper graphics.  It is not compatible with glossy photo paper and is not used for printing on these media.  When photo media is selected and the 96/97 combination is used printing is done with only the color cartridge.  The 96 is the best choice for printing text.
The 97 (or 95)  cartridge is a tri color cartridge containing cyan, magenta and yellow dye based inks.  It is suitable for printing on plain paper or photo media and can print respectable photos.  When printing graphics the 97 cartridge may be used to print black in some modes because the dot size for the 97 cartridge is smaller than the 96, so the 97 can produce better looking grayscale graphics than the 96.
The 99 cartridge is a photo cartridge and is swapped with the 96.  It contains light cyan, light magenta and photo black dye based inks.  Unlike the 97 cartridge the 99 cannot produce the full range of colors by itself, it must be used with a 97 or 95 color cartridge.  When printing photo's the 99/97 combination can give better results in light areas such as sky tines and faces.  The results may be less grainy than when using the 97 cartridge by itself.  While the 99 can be used to print text it will be a poor choice as the dye based ink is not as good on plain paper for printing text and it would be more expensive than using the 96. for printing text.
The 100 is a photo cartridge  and is swapped with the 96.  It contains dye based black, gray and light gray inks.  The  100 cartridge can print excellent B&W prints by itself.  When used with the 97 or 95 cartridge it can provide better detail in dark areas than the 97 by itself.
So... the suitable combinations would be as follows.  I would suggest printing the same photo with different combinations to see if you find a difference or advantage for a particular application.
96/97  Best for text, best for all around printing.  Best on plain paper.  Respectable for photo's on photo paper.  Unless you print a photo using one of the other combinations and compare side by side you may think they are perfectly fine.  Most economical
99/97  Best for photo printing on photo paper.  Less graininess than the 96/97 combination, this will be most noticeable in light areas such as facial or sky tones.  Can be used for plain paper printing but not really optimum for this.
100/97  Best for B&W photo printing on photo paper or enhancing color prints.  May be better detail then the 96/97 or 99/97 combination, especially in dark areas.
I have some 99 and 100 cartridges but rarely use then as I find the 96/97 combination to be suitable for my casual photo printing needs.  I do notice a difference in photos put side by side from the different options, but given any one of them standalone it would look fine without a "better" option to compare with.

  • Which ink is used for documents and photos

I have a Canon MX922 printer. It is ink-intensive; but I like the output. I want to make best use of the ink cartridges.
I assume that 250 BK is used for documents
I end up with unused 251 PGBK. I assume it is used for color photo printing.
Can I redirect that ink cartridge to be  used on documents rather than the 250 BK large cartridge to equalize out the ink useage?
    Thanks.

  • Photosmart 8050 and 'Out of Paper' Error

I own a Photosmart 8050 photo printer.  I have had it for a little while now and i only print on it every so often when I need to print pictures or other color documents.  I use my laser jet printer for printing most of my documents.  I've had no problems with the print quality or the ink cartridges at all, but all of a sudden it wont take in any paper.  I hear the rollers spinning, and if I push the piece of paper along to "help" it, the paper feeds in.  However, with a single piece or 25 or 50, the printer just refuses to pull in any paper.  I have examined it closely and there is no obstruction of any kind.  No jammed paper, no foriegn objects, no excessive dust or any dried up or spilled ink, yet the paper refuses to feed into the printer on its own.  When this happens, the printer inaccurately displays "Out of paper".  When I try to "help" feed the paper into the printer, it sends the page halfway out, then displays a paper jam error, at which point I have to press the paper feed button to clear (is it so hard for the printer to do that itself?).
So, I ask, is there an easy fix for this problem?  Is there a recall or otherwise warranty covered repair for this problem?
If not, I know the warranty is well over, however I will still have to go out and purchase a new printer to replace this one, and you can be sure it wont be an HP.  I am also aware that there is a repair/cleaning kit made for this very issue, like it was some kind of widespread problem that HP just wanted to make money off of instead of fixing for their customers.  To me, to spend that kind of money to repair something I know will just break again is just more money than it is worth.

I would second that! Exactly same problem and i have wasted hours on this stupid issue. Seems as if some kind of sensor does not work - am scratching my head now - what a waste of money and time (sigh). HP folks, if you see this, please help for at least your namesake if not customer service (my warranty period has expired too).
And other folks looking for HP Photosmart 8050 - its a nice printer while it works, but don't go for it, its a trouble in slightly longer term.

  • HP Photosmart 8750 prints slow when using Photo Gray Cartidge

HP Photosmart 8750 prints slow when using Photo Gray Cartidge ... sometimes indicates Black Cartridge failed, however upon reinserting works slow

Welcome to the HP Forums ButchG,
I see by your post that when printing with the photo gray cartridge the black cartridge will indicate that it has failed.
I can help you with this issue.
I would do a power reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
With the printer still turned on, disconnect the power cable from the back of the printer, if the printer has external power module with a detachable power cord disconnect it for 15 seconds and then reconnect it.
Hold down the power button for 10 seconds to drain the power.
Then disconnect the power cable from the wall outlet.
Wait 10 seconds and reconnect the power cable back to the wall outlet first, then the back of the printer and power it on again.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector)
I have provided a document for the cleaning the contacts and reseating the cartridge.

    What are the ink levels?
Are you using Genuine HP Cartridges?
Check the date on the cartridges to make sure they are still in warranty. (not old stock)
If you need further assistance, let me know.

How do I tell if my HP Photosmart 8050 is in Energy Star Mode?  Is that the default?  Does the front-panel menu provide a path for setting this?

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @thinola
After checking through the User Manual , this image below is the only information I could find on the power save mode feature on the printer. I hope this helps!

I just purchased this movie on Thursday, May 15, so just a few days ago.  I have never had any trouble whatsoever since I have been in Vietnam.  I have downloaded several movies and even music and they have all synced to my respected Apple products except for this purchase.
Sorry, I don't quite understand what you mean by studios and different versions.  Could you please explain?
I checked my purchased list in my purchase history under my account and there are no hidden items.

Hello mlazaretti. Vacation time is awesome. (Especially a road trip!) Since you will be going out for two weeks, you never know if having extra data may come in handy. I highly recommend switching to the next tier up so this way you have more data. This way it is only $10.00 more versus $15.00, and you dont have to worry about overages. Then change back at the start of the next billing cycle.

I think real world performance shows both statements to be wrong; consider this:
If that were the case, how come Apple does not include that information in its Snow Leopard installation requirements, since Rosetta is an optional install?
Also, running a PowerPC app on an 2011 i7 Mac with Snow Leopard will run faster than running that PowerPC app on a PowerPC Mac.

Neither party will represent that it has any authority to assume or create any obligation, express or implied, on behalf of the other party, nor to represent the other party as agent, employee, franchisee, or in any other capacity. Open Source
"Open Source" software - software available without charge for use, modification and distribution - is often licensed under terms that require the user to make the user's modifications to the Open Source software or any software that the user 'combines' with the Open Source software freely available in source code form. If you use Open Source software in conjunction with the programs, you must ensure that your use does not: (i) create, or purport to create, obligations of us with respect to the Oracle programs; or (ii) grant, or purport to grant, to any third party any rights to or immunities under our intellectual property or proprietary rights in the Oracle programs. For example, you may not develop a software program using an Oracle program and an Open Source program where such use results in a program file(s) that contains code from both the Oracle program and the Open Source program (including without limitation libraries) if the Open Source program is licensed under a license that requires any "modifications" be made freely available. You also may not combine the Oracle program with programs licensed under the GNU General Public License ("GPL") in any manner that could cause, or could be interpreted or asserted to cause, the Oracle program or any modifications thereto to become subject to the terms of the GPL.
    Third Party Technology
The Programs may contain third party technology. We may provide certain notices to you in program documentation or otherwise in connection with such third party technology. If you are permitted to distribute a Program, you agree to include with the distribution all such notices and any associated source code for third party technology as specified, in the form and to the extent such source code is provided by us. For clarity, the existence of a notice does not affect the terms under which third party technology is licensed to you.
Third party technology will be licensed to you either under the terms of this agreement, or, if specified in the program documentation, readme files or otherwise in writing, under separate license terms ("Separate Terms") and not under the terms of this agreement ("Separately Licensed Third Party Technology"). Your rights to use such Separately Licensed Third Party Technology under the Separate Terms are not restricted or modified in any way by this agreement.
    Entire Agreement
You agree that this agreement is the complete agreement for the programs and licenses, and this agreement supersedes all prior or contemporaneous agreements or representations. If any term of this agreement is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain effective.

At first sight, I was surprised too, but after reading both terms thoroughly I came to the same conclusion that orafad posted above: The text you posted is entitled Oracle Technology Network Early Adopter License Terms. Of course, EA-Terms are different from the ones for the production release. To illustrate the example with software from another company: It was possible to download betas of Microsoft Windows "for free", but it was just for evaluation, testing and "early adopting" purposes, not for productive use. Similar rules apply here. The final release will definetly not be published with that EA License. Oracle has published a draft of the final terms so you get an idea of what you'll be allowed to do with the software you evaluate when it will be released.

  • How do I troubleshoot installation/distribution of a LabVIEW .exe which processes data using Matlab when it works on some computers but not others?

I've been given the unenviable task of troubleshooting and installing/distributing software written by a former co-worker. I've modified the LabVIEW code and built an .exe file. I've successfully installed the Labview .exe file on several computers, but it won't work on some others. What's more baffling is that I installed it successfully on one computer, uninstalled it, and tried reinstalling it with no success. In fact, it's a new error (Dr. Watson for Windows NT application error). It doesn't help that I have different versions of LabVIEW and Matlab on the target computers. Some have LabVIEW 5.1, some
have 5.0, and some don't have it at all. Some have Matlab 5.2, some have 5.3 (R11) and some have 6.0 (R12). It's also not clear to me where the Matlab m files should be located. I'm not sure if it's a LabVIEW Runtime Engine problem, or if it's a Matlab problem. I've also wondered how LabVIEW and Matlab talk to each other. When LabVIEW calls Matlab, it seems that Matlab is running in the background. In other words, clicking on the Matlab Command Window and typing "whos" or any other command/variable doesn't work.

OK, thanks, it almost works !!
I've just a problem. 2 tabs are opening.
One is opening correctly and displays my report. I can display it in PDF/HTML.
But another tab is opening with this message : This window can now be closed since the application has been launched in a separate window. Note: Popup blockers may prevent this application from working properly.
Do you know why this tab is opening ?
Thanks very much for your help.
    Virgile.
