Photosmart 8250 colors are way off

Photosmart 8250 has been a great printer for several years. (out of warranty now of course) I haven't had any paper or photo, 4x6, feeding problems at all, and have only had one paper jam. Lately the color printing has gone bad. I use only HP inks, never have used a "refill" in the printer. Lately I saw an error on the printers screen, it was about the paper sensor being faulty. I only saw this once. There also has been a small red blotch on the bottom edge of some of the prints, this is new, so I am pretty sure I need this printer serviced. It still looks new and has been without all of the other issues I read about I would rather have this one fixed rather than an exchange.
The paper sensor supposedly senses the type of paper and sets the printing parameters accordingly as I understand this so far. I have never taken this printer apart, but I have done so on other printers. Has anyone replaced a paper sensor in a printer such as this? Maybe its not a big deal, but then again, maybe its better that a tech that does it all of the time should do it?
Today is Sunday after Christmas, i will call HP support, this week but any advice in the meantime.
This question was solved.

The paper sensor is used when the paper type is set to "Automatic", you can override this by setting the paper type manually in the driver.

  • Photosmart 8250 colors are off

My Photosmart 8250 has suddenly started printing with either very red or very blue images. I did all of the printer tests, color calibration, etc. and those all are OK. I also have new or current ink cartridges, so that isn't the problem, but no matter how I manipulate the images in my photo software, the printed images are very red/orange or faded and blue.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

  • Epson PictureMate and LR - colors are way off

Have the original 'toaster' PictureMate on Vista. The drivers are built-in and Epson's site doesn't have Vista-centric drivers for it, so I am good there I guess.
In the LR Print module I am able to choose the printer and adjust the properties of the printer through the printer driver/windows dialog boxes but cannot see where to turn off color-management. Leaving LR with 'let printer manage colors' just gives me muted, gray colors.
If I use LR to choose a profile just brings up an empty dialog box... so obviously there are not any profiles loaded with the driver?
Looked online for Profiles and couldn't find any.
Does anyone have any idea on how to disable printer managed colors OR how to get a profile for the PictureMate series?
Resorted to exporting and printing from Windows Photo Gallery which works, but extra steps...

Have you removed the print cartridges and cleaned the contacts both on the catridges and were they sit i the printer with a lint free cloth and some bottled water? If you have and that does not help the issue it would be time to upgrade that printer.

  • Lightroom 2 & 3 Beta color, contrast WAY off on display 2

    Lightroom 3 Beta 2  /  Windows 7  64bit  /  Dual calibrated displays
Display 1 connections are HDMI out to digital in, display 2 is digital out to digital in.
    PROBLEM
In both the Lightroom 3 Beta 2, and Lightroom 2 v2.6 632038, color, contrast and so on are WAY off on my number 2 monitor. If I drag a Photoshop CS4 window from the left display to the right display I see no difference, looks fine. This is also true with Picasa 3, and iMatch Digital Image Management software and preview images in Picasa photo viewer. The issue seems to be just with Lightroom.
I don't see any settings for adjustment of the Lightroom right hand screen in either version - Help appreciated, IM

If you want to, you could zero out all the settings and then save this as a preset and then automatically that preset to all imported images. Not really sure why you would want to do this though. All your images look pretty flat. The default settings do a fair job of approximating what you see on the back of you camera when you made the shot and give you a good place to start. I tried zeroing things out for a while, and then found out I was bringing every image pretty much back to the defaults, and so stopped doing that.

  • Print Colours is all Programs on My MacBook Pro are Way Off

I'm having colour issues with printing in all programs.
The colours are muted and dark. Eg. Royal Blue becomes a Denim Blue. A bright pinkbecome a dusty rose. Reds are orange. Lime Green becomes Forest Green.
I have an HP 7500A printer. I experinced this difficulty with my old printer when I first got my Mac the printer was blamed and as it was 10 years old and dying I accepted that. Now my brand new printer has the same issue.
I've change the printer profiles in Pages and General CKMY is closest to true it reduces the muting but the colours are still dark and the shades are off. It slows the printer big time. Automatic or Vendor is awful the colours are so far off. RGB is way off as well.
The issue is worse on my own Mac specific creations but is persistant through out all programs iPhoto, Pages, Safari, Adobe Elements 9, Mail etc.
I've been working with HP and they can't figure it out. They have sent me a new print head and are sending me another one. Uninstalled and reinstalled the printer software.
I've quereyed help and looked through system settings etc and can't see where to fix or change the colour settings with in the Mac itself.
Can anyone out there shed some light on this.
    Pantheria
P.S. I posted this in the iPhoto forum by mistake. Since then I checked out ColourSync and I get no profiles for anything except the calculater. Nothing for the Displays, Devices, Systems etc.
MacBook Pro (15-inch Mid 2010), Mac OS X (10.6.8), Snow Leopard

My apologies.  Click on Display.  The next window will bring up the Colors button as well as the Calibrate button.

  • Lightroom 2.2 Printing Problems...color is way off

I have had issues with printing in Lr but never really cared since I used Zoombrowser to print most of my stuff for "around the house" and everything always looked fine (even if I modified the image in LR and printed from Zoombrowser). The colors coming from printing in Lr were always way off when using my Pixma IP4300.
I just purchased a Epson 3800 and now I would like to start using Lr for printing. I have tried everything I know and the colors are still way off when printed from Lr. I selected the appropriate color profile in LR for the printer and paper type, I turned off ICC color in the printer setup menu and the color is still off. If I save the Lr photo and print from Zoombrowser then it looks perfectly fine (still turning off ICC).
Now that I have a nice printer I'd love to be able to print right from Lr as it would save me alot of time and significantly increase my options.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Btw...I am using Vista Ultimate 64

I doubt the reason that I didn't get any replies is because people assumed I didn't search. There is no way of knowing who did and didn't search the forums before offering to help someone.
I searched the forums and found no problems similar to mine using the same OS, printer and Lr version.
Here is my problem with some more detail:
I am using Lr 2.2 64bit, Vista Ultimate 64, Epson 3800 Pro (6.5 drivers), Premium Lustre Photo Paper.
Here is what I am doing.
    1) When in Lr and ready to print I select the Lr profile as "Pro38 PLPP" which is the 3800 Paper profile that is in the list of available profiles for Lr.
    2) I select Relative (perceptual didn't appear to change anything)
    3) I click "print" then I am taken to the 3800 selection menu.
    4) I click properties next to the selected printer, I leave everything alone except for "mode"...I chaneg it from Auto to Custom and then select No color adjustment. Everything else appears fine...the paper type is correct etc. But when print the photo the reds come out pinkish etc etc. All of the colors are pretty far off.
I reinstalled the 64bit drivers from epson and nothing changed.
    Any ideas?

  • HP Photosmart 7200 Colors are Wrong When Printing on Photo Paper

I'm running Windows 7 and am having a problem when printing on photo paper.  The colors are off; mainly green.  The colors are fine when printing on plain paper.  I have tried printing from my computer as well as straight from the media card.  Same result.  I am also using HP Photo Premium glossy paper.  Print cartridges are brand new and are loaded correctly.
Any solutions or troubleshooting tips I can try?

  • Color is way off when printing

Windows XP, LR 2.5.  On the screen the document looks fine.  When I print it is very blue & green, most of the other colors are gone.  I print the same photo to a jpg.  It looks fine on the screen and prints fine on the same printer.  I send the photo (with adjustments) to Photoshop CS4, the colors are right, print to the same printer and it prints right.  Only printing directly from LR is having problems.
    Any ideas?  Thanks!
    Rich

I must just be missing something.  I'm in LR in the Print module.  Under Print Job I see Color Management, Profile: Managed by Printer.  My only options are that and Other - and other wants me to choose a printer profile.  I'm printing to a network printer (HP color laser).  The only profiles I see are ones where I've installed the printer on my computer, like the Canon inkjet I have.  Do I have to install the printer driver on my machine to change it?

  • Colour reproduced from my photosmart c4680 are way off

I am trying to get good colour reproduction of water colour paintings to use as greetings cards. I am using a Advent 9617 laptop running Windows Vista home premium & an HP photosmart all-in-one C4680 but the finish prints are nothing like the laptop screen colours. Do I need to buy a calibrating  system?

First off make sure GPS is indeed turned on. From the Location Services app, click the drop down menu at the top left, click Locate me using, make sure there is a check mark on GPS. Otherwise its not using GPS to locate you but rather your cell signal.
Second, if your sitting "at home" Gps needs a clear view of the sky, this applies to phones, standalone GPS, etc. If your inside you will not get an accurate reading.

  • HP Photosmart 8250 color issues

Ive read all the threads about color issues on the 8250.  Most have no responses.  A couple had tips on what to try and I've tried them all.  Ive cleaned the heads, ran maintenance, aligned heads, turned it off and on.  Ive cleaned the heads so many times Ive used half of my ink on two cartridges.  I just spent $50 on a completely new set of ink cartridges and just replaced them all.  Each time I do the head cleaning the colors get worse.
I'm about ready to throw this thing out the window.  This is the 3rd printer we have purchased in the last 7 years from HP and I will probably never buy another again!  It seems they always have a similar problem like this and always during Christmas when I'm trying to do a bunch of printing!
Does anyone know what else to do?  I'm assuming the head is bad or something but how can I tell for sure.  Or..is there a way to manually clean it.  I dont want to spend any more money on this thing...its starting to become cheaper to just replace it again but it seems pretty ridiculous for these printers to only last a couple year.

    Hi,
You can logon to your ePrint account to check. Most likely due to no inks. Replace color ink cartridges will help.
FYI: I ran few tests over the weekend on my loan 7510 (with one empty color cartridge) it refused to print at the beginning but it printed a document after that.
    Regards.

  • Adobe DNG converter is corrupting NEF files. The color is way off and it's not the camera white balance.

I was using the converter for a few months and it was working fine. Now it will convert the files, but the color is really messed. I know it is not the white balance, because the same files convert fine to TIF files through Nikon's software. I am using this converter for Nikon d610 NEF files. Here's a sample DNG and the same image in TIF. Can anyone help? Thanks!

When you use the DNG Converter to make a DNG from an NEF, the DNG Converter applies the default Camera Raw settings.  When I open your DNG it looks fine, but when you open it, it looks off.  That is because you've some how set your Camera Raw defaults to have a bunch of customized settings specific to a particular picture, instead of having them all be normal settings.  Below you'll see what Photoshop is saying the settings of the DNG-Converted-JPG are, with the non-defaults marked in bold.  The main problems are the WB being custom and a bunch of HSL setting changes.
Here is what Photoshop reports that the JPG was created using:

  • Printing from iMac G4 to HP Photosmart 7760 – Colors are heavy on pink side

    Hello~
We have an iMac G4 Flat Panel using OS 10.3.9 and are connected to the HP Photosmart 7760 Printer.
When we print directly from our camera card, the printer prints fine. True colors.
When we print using any software application, (ie Photoshop, iPhoto) the printer prints extremely heavy on the pink side. We have installed new cartridges, have cleaned and calibrated the printer, have unplugged and restarted the printer and still to no avail we have pink tinted photographs.
    Could someone help please?
    Thank You!
iMac G4 Flat Panel   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

It seemed to be nothing involving our printer. A recalibration of our computer display did the trick.

  • ID CS2 -- SNAFU colors print way off after PDF prints, color setting changes

I have messed things up on my InDesign pretty good. Working on ID 4.0.5 in CS2, with a corrupt Help file, on OS 10.4.11.
It started on a particular document after printing to PDF, something got tweaked and the colors went almost inverted (gray is pink or purple, green is red). Reading in the posts about RGB, CMYK, and color picker, I feel like that might have something to do with it but I don't know what happened. I did use the color picker (perhaps incorrectly) to match to my friend's PMS picks, but it didn't seem to just be that because it did print fine at one time. I THINK it was after the PDF. But now at least another important document is messed up, although not completely -- one small picture prints perfectly, but the main large image is off -- pink where it should be gray.
Fixes i tried that didn't work:
Went to Adobe Bridge and synched color
"Emulate Adobe InDesign CS2 CMS Off"
    Monitor Color
    any ideas?

I agree with Mylenium on this one.  Check your application color settings and synch them.  I briefly visited some tech info on that photo copier.  Neither printer is Postscript compatable.  Paper profiles are usually chosen in the Print dialog, not in the application.  Read the User's Guides to those machines.  Submit questions on output to them.  Check adobe.com for color management white papers.

  • Time restriction settings are way off

I have an AE running 6.1 on Lion, all software updated. I set time restrictions by mac address on my iMac using the Airport utility for all my kids' devices. But, for some reason the shutoff time always seems to be off at least an hour. For example, I have my daughter's iPod Toch set to go off the net at 9:00 pm, but at 8:00 pm it shuts off. Her iPod and my AE are both set to CST.
    Thoughts?

The paper sensor is used when the paper type is set to "Automatic", you can override this by setting the paper type manually in the driver.
