Photosmart 8750 and IMAC

I have a Photosmart 8750 which works fine with my windows laptop but when printing with IMAC using latest version of Safari the colours are all washed out, the greys are orange etc.
If I print text in red, blue, green and yellow the print is fine. I have cleaned the print heads, deleted the printer  and reinstalled but still no good.
Any thoughts?

David

  • Photosmart 8750 and Photoshop Elements 8 incompatibility

I cannot get my printer (HP 8750 Pro) to print a greeting card correctly.  I am using PSE 8 and Win7 Premium Home.  When I send the card to the printer I enter the paper size (8.5 x 11).  I change the settings to print on HP Brochure matte with 300 dpi.  I go into Page Setup and see there are no margins, then more options and enter the print size which is Height 7.0 inches by 5.5 inches wide.  I then hit apply and OK.  Check the rest of the settings, insert the cardstock into the printer.  What usually prints is a little picture of my card in the upper left hand corner of the paper.  Just enough to ruin the entire piece of cardstock.  The picture is 2 inches high and 1 and 1/4 inch wide.  I have downloaded and installed the Windows 7 driver published by HP.
Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?  Sometimes, but not too often, I get a perfect page printed exactly right.  This is ruining cardstock and wasting ink.  My workaround has been to use another computer with XP sp2 and attach the printer to that one via USB.  It's quite inconvienient.
I paid beaucoup bucks for this printer and there has been virtually no support from HP.  Can't even email support.  My next printer is definitely not going to be an HP.

I have spoken to the Tech support people at Adobe and they told me that PSE 2 is not compatible with 8 megapixels cameras and that I would have to upgrad to PSE 3.
What utter nonsense. Seriously. Until a few months ago I used PSE2 exclusively with my 20D, and it was just fine. I've since upgraded to CS2, but PSE2 works fine with 8MP images. Whomever you spoke to didn't know what they were talking about (or had recently been visited by the marketing division.) :)
Also, in PSE, I am using the Unsharp Mask in the filter menu. When using the Unsharp Mask with the various settings: Amount: 150%; Radius: 2.5 Pixels; and Threshold: 0
Here's something to try: drag your base layer (either the background layer or your cloned/cleaned up layer) to the new layer icon in the layers palette to copy the layer. Double click on the name of this new layer and type "sharpen" without the quotes. Change the blend mode of this layer to luminosity. With this layer selected, go to filters->unsharp mask. Start with these settings: radius .8 pixels, amount 300%, threshold 5. This should sharpen your image right up without distorting it. It may, however, add some noise, depending on the image. Click ok. If you want to back off on the sharpening a bit, you can reduce the opacity of the sharpen layer a bit. Remember that for best printing results you want the image to look a little crunchy. If you're going to use for a web image you can back off on the sharpening a bit (by lowering the opacity).

  • Photoshop CS6 and HP Photosmart 8750 under Win7 Pro?

    Hi,
I have the impression that the HP Photosmart 8750 printer does not work correctly under Win7 Pro when printing images from Photoshop CS6:
The prints are generally 2 shades lighter than on screen, i. e. black prints as 50% gray - Black cartidge is new...
In the PS Printer settings dialog, I set the color management to "handled by printer".
If I set the colormanagement to "handled by Photoshop", the printouts are even worse: colors are shifting to completely different shades.
On my Canon MP280 printer, the prints are color-correct.
I guess, that this is related to a driver problem. Win7 only has a basic driver implemented for the HP printer, and HP doesn't provide a Win7-driver.
The thing is, I need the large format...
Does anybody have a solution or workaround for this problem? Your help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Erhard

At the company I work for we hardly print from Photoshop as we have a pdf-workflow, but I think you might make it easier for others to help you if you provide screenshots (posted with the camera icon) of your print dialog windows, especially those regarding Color Management.

  • Photosmart 8750 won't print sharp black and white photos

I am trying to print some black and white photographs using my photosmart 8750 printer.  Up until now, I have just done color photographs.  After printing my first black and white photograph, I'm very disappointed.  While it is definitely gray scale, the dark black colors in the photo aren't coming out black at all...just a shade of gray.  I have the gray photo cartridge installed.  Is that my problem?  Everywhere I read, it says that is what should be used.

Try the troubleshooting steps in this page. Does the diagnostic page print properly?

  • How can I print to HP Photosmart 8750 Professional printer?

    Hello to all.
I have a G3 400 mhz. Blue and White, with Sonnet upgrade to G4 1 gig. Print jobs stopped on HP Photosmart 8750 Professional printer, possibly after upgrading to OS 10.4.10 (printer connected via USB). After reading discussions on this forum, I reset printer system, started from OS disk and repaired permissions and hard drive, ran Tech Tool Pro, did an Archive and Install, downloaded latest drivers from HP, etc. etc.
Now, in HP Setup Assistant, printer is not listed in window, therefore unable to continue with installation. Printer does not show up in Print and Fax and I cannot add printer, as the driver is never installed. Purchased a new USB 6 ft. cord (only 6 ft. allowed for this printer).
Have not used it, as I cannot plug it in until printer listed in window and recognized. Upgraded to 10.4.11, hoping it would solve problem. No such luck. Printed a sample page and test page, and printer worked. Please send detailed instructions, listing each step in successive order. Thank you for your efforts to solve this problem.
    Versatile Lady

10.4.x supports the 8700 printer series and has a driver built in for it.
It will not hurt the printer to plug it into the computer at anytime. I have the hp Photosmart 3310 and it doesn't give a hoot about this.
    I would do this.
Do this without the hp installation program.
    Restart the computer,
    restart the printer.
plug the printer into the mac and see if the mac will find it with these instructions.
    This is Apple's instructions
    1. Disconnect and reconnect every cable between the computer and the printer. Make sure all cables are firmly inserted.
    2. USB printers only: Switch the USB cable connection from the current USB port to another USB port.
    3. USB printers only: Open Apple System Profiler and click the Devices and Volumes tab. If the printer still does not appear, try a different cable.
    4. Try to print again.
Once the printer connects you may want to install any specific hp stuff off the disk.

  • Photosmart 8750 4x6 photo printing skewed

I am using a Photosmart 8750 on a home network with 4 computers, one with XP-Pro SP3, one with XP-Home SP3, one with Win98-SE, and I've just done a clean install on the 4th machine of Vista-Ultimate 64-bit SP-1. The three older machines can print a 4x6 photo on 4x6 paper flawlessly, with or without borders. The new Vista machine prints with no border at the top and 1/2-inch border down the right side. The bottom and left borders look to be about 1/8-inch. If I switch to "borderless 4x6" The same thing happens--a 1/2-inch border on the right, the top of the photo is cut off, and a small border on the left and bottom. The application I'm using on the Vista machine is the Windows Photo Gallery, but I have the same problem if I print from Photoshop elements.
This can't be caused by the media or the printer since three machines can print perfectly using the same photo file on the same printer. I have tried every setting in Printer Preferences to no avail. I noticed someone else with a different model printer had the same problem but didn't say what OS was running. Has anyone else had this problem and come up with a reliable fix?
Letters on 8.5x11 in Word or Excel print perfectly.

Still having the same issues (messed up 4x6 printing and bottom line cut off of text) and add another one. Today I attempted to print an 8x10 photo from Photoshop Elements v6.0 and got the message "program has stopped responding." After several attempts I decided to try printing from Windows "Photo Gallery" but nothing happens. The printer makes a noise as if it is about to print but then nothing happens.
I can print over my network to my older Laser Jet printer and I can go to another computer running XP-Pro with SP3 and print beautifully on the Photosmart 8750, but from 64-bit Vista, nothing happens when attempting to print an 8x10 on 8.5x11 photo paper. I've tried loading drivers for a different model printer but that was unsuccessful. Anyone have a solution to these problems?

  • HP Photosmart 8750 prints slow when using Photo Gray Cartidge

HP Photosmart 8750 prints slow when using Photo Gray Cartidge ... sometimes indicates Black Cartridge failed, however upon reinserting works slow

Welcome to the HP Forums ButchG,
I see by your post that when printing with the photo gray cartridge the black cartridge will indicate that it has failed.
I can help you with this issue.
I would do a power reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
With the printer still turned on, disconnect the power cable from the back of the printer, if the printer has external power module with a detachable power cord disconnect it for 15 seconds and then reconnect it.
Hold down the power button for 10 seconds to drain the power.
Then disconnect the power cable from the wall outlet.
Wait 10 seconds and reconnect the power cable back to the wall outlet first, then the back of the printer and power it on again.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector)
I have provided a document for the cleaning the contacts and reseating the cartridge.
'Cartridge Failed' or 'Cartridge Not Compatible' Error Message.
    What are the ink levels?
Are you using Genuine HP Cartridges?
Check the date on the cartridges to make sure they are still in warranty. (not old stock)
If you need further assistance, let me know.
    Have a nice day!

  • I have new printer Photosmart C410 and osx10.4.11. What do I need to do to make them work together?

I have new hp printer Photosmart C410a and Mac osx10.4.11. What do I need to do to make them work together?
    My computer is:
      Model Name:    iMac
      Model Identifier:    iMac6,1
Processor Name:    Intel Core 2 Duo

Here is what you need to order:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDAzOA
Hope you are backing up anyway, but be sure you have an up to date backup. Repair permissions in Disk Utility, then restart from the Snow Leopard disk you buy (in the above link) and do an upgrade (only changes the OS), not a clean install (which wipes all data). Others on here may chime in on their thoughts on how best to do this, but I've never had trouble over 20+ years doing it this way. If you aren't having crashes and strange problems now you should be fine. Please write back or start a new thread (you'll get more help than continuing in this thread which has printing problems in the header) that has something like "Need help upgrading from Tiger to Snow Leopard" that will attract more help.

  • Photosmart 8750 Problems

I've had my photosmart 8750 printer for a number of years now and unitl recently it hasn't let me down. Since switching to windows vista I've been experiencing some photo printing problems when I try to print 6x4 or 5x7 inch pics. The left margin is wider than the top or right and the bottom margin is huge. I've tried adjusting the paper size everywhere it tells me to. I've tried everything and I'm still perplexed. Can anyone help?

I don't have your model printer, but...
All the network-ready HP inkjet printers I know of require you to:
click Add in Print & Fax prefs,
    Click on More Printers,
    select HP IP
    then select model driver.
    Does that help?

  • How can I adjust my photosmart 8750 printer to properly frame print?

My photosmart 8750 printer (Win XP on network) does not give consistent results when printing. When printing a photo with white borders, it will give an even border around the photo and cannot be adjusted accordingly. does anyone have a solution to this issue?

This has been a major pain in the *** for me! I have trawled too many online discussions and forum threads on this only to find no real answers that work. In the end I found some software called VueScan which although cost me $40, has now allowed me to scan from my MP600. Check it out at http://www.hamrick.com/

  • Photosmart 8750

I have a photosmart photo printer 8750. Excellent printer unfortunately HP decided not to make it any longer.
I now have Window 7 and of course some of the  printer's services are not available,
My problem is that my pictures are cut off quite a bit in printing borderless. I found an articlke from HP which is very useful at this HP link http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documentdocname=c00313864&lc=en&dlc=tr&cc=tr&lang=tr&rule=25483&p...
It explains clearly the digital camera printer aspect ratio relationship. However it addresses images size 4X6
Would the same theory apply to a larger size printing image? It states that for borderless printing HP printers enlarge the image then centers them in order to print borderless. How much does the printer enlarge the image by?   Does the printer also allow for printing margin in addition?
As an example if I wanted to print a 13x19 borderless picture adjusted the ratio according to the instructions in the article would cropping still occurr automatically by the printer?
    Thanks for any help

  • Hp Photosmart 8750 - Trouble printing in color using 8750 as networked printer.

    Hi,
I have an HP Photosmart 8750 Professional printer direct connected to a Win XP computer through the USB port.  It is designated as a network (shared) printer.  The printer works fine printing from the XP computer as I am able to set the print jobs to be controlled by the application I am using.
However, one of the computers on the network has a Windows 7 64-bit operating system.  The computer recognizes the 8750 but I am only able to set the color management on the printer properties menu box to either ColorSmart/sRGB or AdobeRGB.  There is no option to have the color management 'controlled by application'.  Because of this, I am unable to print colored text in documents, at least in those created by Microsoft Office, Wordpad, or Adobe Reader.  (Only programs I have tried to print with so far).
Is there a work around for this problem?

    Hey @9redsoxfan9 ,
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to ask that question on the HP Forums today!
I understand you are on your second HP Photosmart printer and you are experiencing the same issue of not printing color that led you to throwing out your old one. You have done the alignments, cleaning and even replaced the cartridges.
You have done all the troubleshooting I would have got you to do so I recommend you call HP Technical Phone Support.
If you are in Canada or US call 800 474 6836, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.
HP printers generally have a 1 year warranty from their purchase date, you can verify the warranty using the following link if you would like; warranty check.
I hope this helps. Have a great day!

  • Selecting Paper Type for HP Photosmart 8750 In Lightroom 3.3

Since converting to Lightroom v. 3.3 I am unable to select the paper types on which I wish to print from my HP Photosmart 8750 printer.  In the printer dialog box, the following option is grayed out:  "Photosmart PDE."  I also get the following message:  "The bundle 'HP Photosmart PDE' could not be loaded because it does not contain a version for the current architecture."  It then tells me to contact the bundle's creator for the latest version and then lists the following:  HP Photosmart PDE v. 5.3.  I would appreciate any thoughts as to what the problem is and how it may be corrected.  I have downloaded the most current printer driver and did not have this problem with Lightroom 2, so I am thinking that it must be a compatibility issue between the HP software and Lightroom 3. Thanks.

I inserted photo paper into the printer tray a the start but it printed horribly, like my old canon used to do when I accidentally stuck laser paper in instead of glossy / matte.
Other prints (like from iPhoto) print fine thru the printer.
The Print dialog in the pull down menu contains no options to look at or change the paper type.
On my pc I had a huge section of options when printing where I could select the profile, colour correction, print quality etc etc on any print. Cant seem to find the same options thru Mac.
    Still puzzled?!
