Photosmart 8750 ink carts & paper types

I need to know the appropriate combination of ink cartridges to use for the best quality color photo printing. I also would like to know the best paper type to use for printing 12x12 photo-quality scrapbook pages. I could print on 13x19 and cut them to 12x12 if that's the best solution. I have done some research, including reading, calling for support, and an on-line chat support, but haven't been able to get the info I need. Thanks for the help.

There are several combinations you could use:  in the "orange" slot you can use the 99 photo cartridge or the 101 blue cartrdige.  They are similar, both contain light magenta and light cyan for photo printing.  The 99 has photo black, the 101 has a deep blue which increases the gamut available.  The 97 color cartridge will be used in the "green" slot.  It has cyan, magenta and yellow inks.  In the "black" slot you can use the 96 black cartridge which has pigmented black ink (not used on glossy photo paper) or the 100/102 photo gray cartridges.  The 100/102 cartridges contain light gray, gray and photo black inks.  The quality for the 100 and 102 are the same, the 102 has more ink than the 100.
Given the above the "best" for photos would be the 101, 97 and 100/102 cartridges.  If you will be printing on matte paper and want crisp black text for captions the 101, 97 and 96 cartridges would be the best choice.
I will leave the paper suggestions for others, that is not my area of expertise.

  • Selecting Paper Type for HP Photosmart 8750 In Lightroom 3.3

Since converting to Lightroom v. 3.3 I am unable to select the paper types on which I wish to print from my HP Photosmart 8750 printer.  In the printer dialog box, the following option is grayed out:  "Photosmart PDE."  I also get the following message:  "The bundle 'HP Photosmart PDE' could not be loaded because it does not contain a version for the current architecture."  It then tells me to contact the bundle's creator for the latest version and then lists the following:  HP Photosmart PDE v. 5.3.  I would appreciate any thoughts as to what the problem is and how it may be corrected.  I have downloaded the most current printer driver and did not have this problem with Lightroom 2, so I am thinking that it must be a compatibility issue between the HP software and Lightroom 3. Thanks.

I inserted photo paper into the printer tray a the start but it printed horribly, like my old canon used to do when I accidentally stuck laser paper in instead of glossy / matte.
Other prints (like from iPhoto) print fine thru the printer.
The Print dialog in the pull down menu contains no options to look at or change the paper type.
On my pc I had a huge section of options when printing where I could select the profile, colour correction, print quality etc etc on any print. Cant seem to find the same options thru Mac.
    Still puzzled?!

  • Photosmart 8750 replacement ink cartridges

I am having difficulty finding replacement  HP 101 and HP 102 ink cartridges for my Photosmart 8750 printer.
Is HP no longer supporting this printer? Is there a workaround available by replacing the cartridges with some other series?  Can I set up the printer to print without the missing cartridges?
It seems a shame to junk the printer as it works well and has given me excellent service.

Thanks, but I tried both of those with no success.  Amazon.com has been helpful.

  • HP Photosmart 7520 ink overuse

4 years of owning this printer, when it work it is nice (though the self feed is shot and not used much) Problem is I HATE the ink consumption!!!!! I have it in the preset printer config BUT it goes through way too much picture ink. I can't locate the problem or a way to change it. In all the years I have owned it I have to replace the photo black 7 to 1 over the regular black ink.  I still have 2 regular ink carts in the drawer that will likely go bad before I ever need them. Such a waste of product and time.FYI I have the settings on regular, I NEVER have printed even 1 picture (Though I have a whole stink load of paper and envelopes from every  time I purchase a ink kit) If I were not already bald I would pull out my hair. THE ONLY time I can get it to use the regular black cart is when I go to grey scale by manually changing the print settings

    Welcome to the forums @swashington007
If I understand correctly, you are looking to print in black ink only from your Photosmart 7520. I have located a very helpful thread by my colleague @MissTeriLynn that I would like you to see, read and try. If her post does not cover a certain concern of yours, please feel free to write me back and I will do my best to help you!

  • Photosmart 8750 4x6 photo printing skewed

I am using a Photosmart 8750 on a home network with 4 computers, one with XP-Pro SP3, one with XP-Home SP3, one with Win98-SE, and I've just done a clean install on the 4th machine of Vista-Ultimate 64-bit SP-1. The three older machines can print a 4x6 photo on 4x6 paper flawlessly, with or without borders. The new Vista machine prints with no border at the top and 1/2-inch border down the right side. The bottom and left borders look to be about 1/8-inch. If I switch to "borderless 4x6" The same thing happens--a 1/2-inch border on the right, the top of the photo is cut off, and a small border on the left and bottom. The application I'm using on the Vista machine is the Windows Photo Gallery, but I have the same problem if I print from Photoshop elements.
This can't be caused by the media or the printer since three machines can print perfectly using the same photo file on the same printer. I have tried every setting in Printer Preferences to no avail. I noticed someone else with a different model printer had the same problem but didn't say what OS was running. Has anyone else had this problem and come up with a reliable fix?
Letters on 8.5x11 in Word or Excel print perfectly.

Still having the same issues (messed up 4x6 printing and bottom line cut off of text) and add another one. Today I attempted to print an 8x10 photo from Photoshop Elements v6.0 and got the message "program has stopped responding." After several attempts I decided to try printing from Windows "Photo Gallery" but nothing happens. The printer makes a noise as if it is about to print but then nothing happens.
I can print over my network to my older Laser Jet printer and I can go to another computer running XP-Pro with SP3 and print beautifully on the Photosmart 8750, but from 64-bit Vista, nothing happens when attempting to print an 8x10 on 8.5x11 photo paper. I've tried loading drivers for a different model printer but that was unsuccessful. Anyone have a solution to these problems?

  • HP Photosmart 8750 prints slow when using Photo Gray Cartidge

HP Photosmart 8750 prints slow when using Photo Gray Cartidge ... sometimes indicates Black Cartridge failed, however upon reinserting works slow

Welcome to the HP Forums ButchG,
I see by your post that when printing with the photo gray cartridge the black cartridge will indicate that it has failed.
I can help you with this issue.
I would do a power reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
With the printer still turned on, disconnect the power cable from the back of the printer, if the printer has external power module with a detachable power cord disconnect it for 15 seconds and then reconnect it.
Hold down the power button for 10 seconds to drain the power.
Then disconnect the power cable from the wall outlet.
Wait 10 seconds and reconnect the power cable back to the wall outlet first, then the back of the printer and power it on again.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector)
I have provided a document for the cleaning the contacts and reseating the cartridge.
'Cartridge Failed' or 'Cartridge Not Compatible' Error Message.
    What are the ink levels?
Are you using Genuine HP Cartridges?
Check the date on the cartridges to make sure they are still in warranty. (not old stock)
If you need further assistance, let me know.
    Have a nice day!

  • Photosmart 8750 Problems

I've had my photosmart 8750 printer for a number of years now and unitl recently it hasn't let me down. Since switching to windows vista I've been experiencing some photo printing problems when I try to print 6x4 or 5x7 inch pics. The left margin is wider than the top or right and the bottom margin is huge. I've tried adjusting the paper size everywhere it tells me to. I've tried everything and I'm still perplexed. Can anyone help?

I don't have your model printer, but...
All the network-ready HP inkjet printers I know of require you to:
click Add in Print & Fax prefs,
    Click on More Printers,
    select HP IP
    then select model driver.
    Does that help?

  • Photosmart 8750

I have a photosmart photo printer 8750. Excellent printer unfortunately HP decided not to make it any longer.
I now have Window 7 and of course some of the  printer's services are not available,
My problem is that my pictures are cut off quite a bit in printing borderless. I found an articlke from HP which is very useful at this HP link http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documentdocname=c00313864&lc=en&dlc=tr&cc=tr&lang=tr&rule=25483&p...
It explains clearly the digital camera printer aspect ratio relationship. However it addresses images size 4X6
Would the same theory apply to a larger size printing image? It states that for borderless printing HP printers enlarge the image then centers them in order to print borderless. How much does the printer enlarge the image by?   Does the printer also allow for printing margin in addition?
As an example if I wanted to print a 13x19 borderless picture adjusted the ratio according to the instructions in the article would cropping still occurr automatically by the printer?
    Thanks for any help

  • Can't select paper types

(Mac OSX 10.5.2, LR 1.3.1) Going crazy trying to figure this out. Somewhere around the time HP updated drivers for the Photosmart Pro B8350, I lost the ability to select anything but one paper type. As a result, none of my prints are coming out properly whereas they were perfect before. I've totally removed both the HP software and Lightroom, and started all over again. Bottom line is that only one paper type will show up in Lightroom when I select managed by application.
When I click the profile drop-down menu from the main Print module, I'm presented with two choices: Premium Plus photo (tricolor+grey) and Premium Paper (tricolor+grey). I used to be able to select from a bunch of options. OK, so I use the third menu option, which is Other and gives me a list of profiles to appear in the custom profile popup. I see Advanced Photo Glossy, and check it.
Now I can select it, but when I hit Print... and the printing dialog comes up and I double-check Paper Type/Quality, the only thing that shows is "Premium Plus Photo Paper" and all of the other options, including Advanced, are greyed-out.
I do see that there seems to be some confusion/changes or something related to where printing components are installed. I see that in ~/user/library/colorsync/profiles, things from my previous color printer. The HP stuff all installed in /Library/Printers/hp/Profiles/Photosmart and /Library/Printers/hp/Profiles/business-inkjet
Now that I look at it, the only profiles that sort match my printer name (HP PSPro B8300) are in the business-inkjet folder - NOT the photosmart folder. That doesn't seem right; this isn't a business inkjet printer, it's a photo printer.
I put some screenshots here: http://web.mac.com/vincentdistefano/HP-Lightroom/printing_problems.html
Is this a Lightroom problem? An HP problem? Mac? Very frustrating, as this used to work flawlessly. In fact my print dialogs still have all the nice presets I had set up before, but of course none of them work now.
    Any help greatly, greatly appreciated.

Hi John, Thanks for the tip. I will try that next. Below is a crash log. I printed to the 2200 from Photoshop, then in the print dialog tried to go to "color management" to turn color management off (I am getting magenta prints due to double profiling).

  • Hp 7510 not putting ink on paper

Hp 7510 was working fine.  off line for month.  Plenty of ink (new cart) printing blank pages now/reset. ran diagnostic.reloaded ink.reloaded paper.reset printer to network. restarted.  Help

    Hello Rancher1405,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with blank pages when attempting to print.
I have a few steps that we can try to troubleshoot this issue.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
I have also located a document that deals with Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages.
Please feel free to write me back if you have any other questions or concerns.

  • Choosing paper type in Photoshop Elements for mac

How do I select paper type in PS elements for Mac OS Lion 10.7?

You do this in the OS X print window that appears after you click Print in the PSE print window. You may need to expand the window by clicking the Show Details button, and then you'll see a pulldown menu in the middle of the window where you make your choices for paper, ink, etc.

  • Proofing Profile paper type acronyms

I am trying to get an excellent print from my Canon MX722 directly from Aperture 3 under Yosemite on my iMac.
In the menu bar under VIEW I have onScreen Proofing checked, and when I drop down the items for Proofing Profile, I get a list of what I think are paper choices ... the drop down looks like ...
      canon mx720 series GL2
                                         GL3
                                         MP2
                                         PT1
                                         PT2
                                         PT3
                                         SG2/LU2
                                         SG3/LU3
I assume GL is Glossy, SG is semi-gloss, MP is Matte Paper can't figure out PT or the numbers.  I called Canon - and they did not know what the abbreviations were either. Said it was specific to Aperture - suggested I search Aperture Help and Google.  I did both but can not find any definition. The tech did say that to get the best pix it was extremely important to set the correct paper type as the amount of ink that went onto the paper was determined by this.

The Canon employee with whom you spoke has mis-served you.
    See if this helps.

  • What paper type to choose for self-adhesive labels?

Trying to tell my printer that I'm printing Avery self-adhesive labels. But I don't see any settings for label paper under paper type.
What should I pick, "Specialty Paper"? "Other inkjet paper"?

You choose a standard page size. Most labels are on an 8.5x11 sheet and in portrait orientation. So select that size if it's not already the default for the printer.
I've done labels on many Macs and number of printers. Most of the time, a template for the various Avery labels and their clones is available within the program that generated labels. I've not seen a printer setting for labels on any of the 5+ printers I've used to make labels, going back to Mac OS 6.
Example: In MS Word 2008, the is a menu choice in Tools > Labels... that helps you set up labels. The screen will show an image of the layout you selected from the "Labels.." option. Word inserts section breaks and columns that exactly fit the Avery number you chose.
At that point you can fill in each label manually or, even better yet, use The Mail Merge function in Office to populate the labels with info from a spreadsheet or a Word table. It goes so fast that it's probably taken me more time for my challeged typing skills to hammer out this repsonse that to make a bunch of labels!
PageMaker and, later,Adobe InDesign have similar templates.
So what program are you using the make labels?
TIP: I have both a b/w laser and an ink-jet printer. I almost always use the laser for printing labels that will go though the mail. The reason: laser lettering is waterproof. If the the letter has ink-jet labels and gets wet, the ink on the labels will run and be harder for our postal employees to read and deliver.
Note that a laser printer requires a special type of label stock that will stand up the high heat inside the printer.

  • Cannot change paper type from Android ePrint app when printing photos

I have the ePrint mobile app installed on my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S4) and have a Photosmart 7520 printer at home. When I'm at home, I can see the same printer listed twice from ePrint mobile app on my phone, once via ePrint (with the printer's email address shown) and the other via wireless (with the printer's IP address shown). If I were to print a photo from ePrint mobile app, if I select my printer via wireless connection, I can see the option to change the paper type, i.e. either the plain paper or photo paper; but if I select the same printer via ePrint, the option to change paper type no longer appears in the app. When I'm on the go, I can only see my printer via ePrint and I cannot print a photo on plain paper due to the absence of the "paper type" option. However, if I were to print a document via ePrint mobile app, the option to change paper type does show up. So to sum it up: 1) Print photo from ePrint mobile app via wireless -- the "paper type" option is present;2) Print photo from ePrint mobile app via ePrint -- the "paper type" option is absent;2) Print document from ePrint mobile app via ePrint -- the "paper type" option is present. This cannot be by design, correct? Thanks.

    Hi phibei!
    Thank you for posting.
I have done some research on your post.
You are correct, this is by design. This is due to the communication method being used. When using the ePrint app via ePrint it's sending the information via an email and limits the options available.

  • What uses less ink, plain paper fast draft, or photo paper best.

What uses less ink, plain paper fast draft, or photo paper best.  I'm not looking for quality, just less ink used.  I also used photo paper, then selected plain paper fast draft.  Not great quality, as expected, but still looking to use less ink.  My guess is the plain paper uses more, because it is more porous. My printer is an hp Deskjet 2050.  My operating system is, 64-bit Intel Core I-7-2670 QM.
    Thank You for any assistance

    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

The printer will put droplets of ink on the page based on what it detects the media is (for printers with "Automatic" as a paper type) or the specified media in the driver.
If you select plain paper, draft and print on photo paper it would use the same amount of ink as if you put in plain paper.  The results are likely to be very very poor if you do that, for several reasons:
The pigmented black ink is not compatible with photo paper, it will not dry properly.  When photo media is selected the printer will not use the pigmentd black ink even to print text, it will mix color to make black.
It takes much more ink to give proper photo settings on photo paper as compared to plain paper.  Using plain paper draft settings is likely to result in an unusable photo paper page, ruining a $1 sheet of photo paper to save a $0.20 worth of ink - not a good tradeoff.
If you plan to print a lot of photo's you might consider a printer that uses the HP Ink advantage subscription service.  This service is based on pages printed, and they count photo pages the same as plain paper, even though a full page photo may use 10x or more the ink of a plain paper text page.
