Photosmart and OfficeJet

Same problem with my former OfficeJet and current Photosmart. Won't print. I open the queue and find the last item that printed is still in the queue. It is supposed to leave the queue after it prints. Since it's still there the next item won't print and I have to manually delete it from the queue. This happens intermittently, so after it's okay for a while I suddenly realize the last few things I tried to print didn't come out. I've tried tech spupport both phone and chat five times. Each time they install drivers. Of course it then works, until it stops again. That's all tech support wants to do is get it working again. I can do that a lot more easily than downloading a driver. I can't find anyone who tackles the actual problem. So I am getting no help from HP in resolving it. Using a Macbook Air.

Hi carolagate,
can you tell me the following please?
what OS are you using -- 10.9.4 (Mavericks)
what printer model you are using -- Photosmart 6525 -- same problem on old OfficeJet
do you have any other print drivers installed on your computer? -- took them all off -- various tech support people had added some other names for the same printer
and I will try to help you
I may have solved it. After  hours of digging thru HP's jumble of info I saw a suggestion that the first thing to try is to plug the printer into the wall outlet and not an outlet strip. It hasn't misbehaved since then , but it's only been a few hours. If this is the solution I am stunned that five tech support people and even more hours on the phone or chat line, and not a single person suggested that simple solution.
regards,
Na-Vi

  • HP Deskjet and Officejet install

    Hi,
I have two trusty HP mobile printers which I am now struggling to set up with my new computer on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I tried to use Windows update and the CD provided but unable to install.
Can anyone please help guide me to the drivers and how to install them? I tried the guidance on the website but still unable to. If there other settings I need to change on the system to enable this to install successfully?
I have a HP Deskjet 460 and Officejet H470. If I can get any one or both installed, that would be brilliant.
Thanks a bunch for your help!

    Hi there,
You can download the Officejet H470 Win 7 drivers from the following page:

  • Using HP Officejet 6110 and Officejet 6500 wireless issues

I have been using an HP Offciejet 6110 printer for a long time with an HP laptop running WINXP. I purchased a new HP laptop running WIN7.  The WIN7 laptop will print to the 6110 in color only and doesn't allow the HP Imagimg Director software to work.
I recently purchased a new HP Officejet 6500 wireless printer and set that up to run off the HP laptop with WIN7 using the full software install.  That seems to be working OK.
I then setup theold  XP laptop using only the drivers for the Officejet 6500 so I could still use the Officejet 6110 from that computer and all the scanning and other features of the HP Imageing Director software.   But it appears that the Officejet 6500 drivers have scewed up the Officejet 6110 software drivers on the XP laptop. How do I get this computer back to using the 6110 as normal (which was very useful) but be able to use the 6500 as an optional printer without all the 6500 features?

    Hi dresdenron,
Thanks for clarifying the issue again. I was a bit confused.
How is the Officejet 6500 and Officejet 6110 setup on the Windows XP? (USB, Wireless)
Both models use completely different software. So there shouldn't be any interference even if the full software had been installed for the Officejet 6500. If both printers are connected by a USB cable, then the Officejet 6500 might have taken over the port and therefore causing the scan not to work.
What happens when you try to scan? (error message)
Download and run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. Find and fix common printer problems using HP diagnostic tools for Windows?
If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall the Officejet 6110. This way it will be recognized on the new port assigned.
    Uninstalling the Printer Software.
HP Officejet and PSC Full Feature Software and Driver.
What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages)
The Officejet 6110 is a Windows Update for Windows 7. There is no HP Imaging Director software available to run on Windows 7. Installing the Printer Software in Windows 7 for a USB Cable Connection.
Please provide in detail the results. If I missed anything, just let me know.

  • Photosmart studio 9.8.1 and officejet 4635

Am running photosmart studio version 9.8.1 and when I try to scan the program doesn't recognize my new officejet 4635. Previously, using same software, I was able to scan using a 4400 series hp printer. When I use the browse function within photosmart studio it doesn't show the 4635. How can I resolve this?  TIA

    Hi,
The HP Photosmart Studio is an older HP Software for previous models, it is not a part of the 4635 printer and will not detect it.
What is your Mac OS X version?
Have you tried the HP Scan software which shipped with your new printer? it should be available within the Hewlett-Packard folder.

  • HP OfficeJet 4500 and OfficeJet 4600 both not copying any more but will scan and print

My computer/networking business has 3 HP OfficeJet AIO printers: 2 x 4500 (about 2 years old) and 1 x 4600 (about 6 months old). Only the one 4500 is still able to do everything it should. The others can both print and scan but can't copy any more. (The failures happened at different times). I have no idea about faxing because we never use this function - we don't have a landline to test it.
This is nothing to do with the PCs because we're just trying to use the standalone copy function directly from the printer. It makes no difference whether we place the document on the glass or in the auto sheet feeder. At one point, the 4600 was able to make colour copies but not mono copies but now it can't do either.
We have always used only genuine HP cartridges in both printers and they have been replaced recently - as I say, we can print fine, we just can't copy.
Clearly this isn't a software/driver issue but I can't understand how it can be a cartridge or scanning issue either (you can hear and see that it scans the document, it's just that nothing comes out on the paper). Is there some kind of firmware linking the scanning to the printing function that could have gone wrong? If so, how do we fix that? The 4600 self-updates using its wireless internet connection so it should be on the latest firmware.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Please try printing a Self Test report for both of the printers, can you see both Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow colors listed as expected?
Below are the steps for the 4500:
    http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Officejet-4500-All-in-One-Printer---G510g/3919445/model/39194...
For the 4630 print a self test as following:
On the printer control panel, press the Down Arrow () to scroll to Tools, and then press OK.
Press the Down Arrow () to scroll to Print Quality Report, and then press OK. The printer prints the test page.
Figure : Example of a Print Quality Diagnostic report with no defects
If both of the tests appear fine, is the printer connected directly to a wall socket or may it connected through any power strips, hubs, surge protectors. etc.?

If not does anyone know when an updated driver is expected to be available?

  • Yosemite and Officejet 6700

Since upgrading to Yosemite I am unable to print (haven't tried scanning function as it's lower priority). The printer and imac appear to be communicating (I can see ink cartridge levels, the print job screen says "connected to printer" but when I click print nothing happens...
A windows based computer in my home WILL print to the 6700 wirelessly and a test print initiated from the 6700 worked fine.
So far I have tried all the steps below as recommended on a different thread. Where do I go from here.
    "Bonjour Highest Priority Service

  • Windows 7 RC and OfficeJet 7400xi

Lenovo ThinkPad T61 4GB 320GB HD running Windows 7 RC 64-bit and connected to OfficeJet 7410xi via wireless.  PC can also boot Windows Vista Business 32-bit from a 100 GB HD in the drive bay.  OfficeJet 7410xi both prints and scans wirelessly from Windows Vista 32-bit.  OfficeJet 7410xi only prints, but does not scan, from Windows 7 64-bit.  Obviously a software problem, but does anyone have a fix?
General comments:  Windows 7 64-bit is a screamer--runs circles around Windows Vista which was a dog out of the box (I have been runing it now for 19 months) and even faster than Windows XP--my previous operating system.  Start up and shut down was especially painful with Windows Vista--I would usually take a shower and have breakfast in the morning while waiting.  Windows 7 is very fast in booting and shutting down--not quite as fast as Mac OX 10.4, but pretty darn close.  This system will transform Microsoft and be as signifcant to its success and the revitalization of the PC business as Windows 3.1 was when it was released.

  • No print from Windows 7 Desktop and Officejet Pro 8610

I purchased and installed a new Officejet Pro 8610 about a month ago.  My desktop computer is an HP Windows 7 unit.  The printer is setup wireless. Up until a few days ago, everything has run fine, but now I cannot print anything from my desktop computer.  Printing from my MacBook laptop works fine.  Printing from my iphone is fine.  Scanning to the desktop computer is fine.  Webprinting is fine.  The printer icon has a nice green checkmark in the devices folder. I have run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, which claims to fix a port issue, but does not resolve the problem. I have use windows to troubleshoot the connection, which claims to make the printer available to my homegroup, but it does not resolve the problem. I tried changing the security settings for the spooler.  Did not resolve the problem. I cannot manually stop and star the spooler via dos prompt.  Says system 5 error, access denied. This is maddening.  I got rid of my old printer (which reliably printed from the desktop) so that I could have wireless printing capability, and now I have wireless capability but cannot print from my desktop.  Aaaaggghhhhhh!!!!

Hey , Thanks for getting back to me regarding this issue. At this time I am going to have you load an alternate Officejet driver on your product. Because the network connection is fine, and scanning is still fine I do not believe that the issue that you're experiencing is connectivity or software related. This alternate driver I am going to have you load will operate the exact same way as the Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer driver. Therefore, you will not lose any functionality by performing this fix. Please try the steps below.  Step 1: Clear Temp Files: Click on your Start menu
In the 'search programs and files' box located right above Start after you click on it, type %temp% and hit enter on your keyboard
When the Temp folder opens, select Ctrl + A at the same time on your keyboard. Everything in this folder will now highlight.
Select the 'delete' button on your keyboard. The Temp folder contains temporary internet files. No actual files or folders on your computer will be affected by deleting the Temp files. Should a Temp file still be used than you will automatically get the pop up to 'skip' that item.
Close the Temp folder once it is emptied
Right click the Recycling Bin on your desktop and select Empty Recycling BinPlease proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Load Alternate Driver: Please click here to download the Officejet driver Once the download is complete you may get a prompt to Run the download. If you see the Run prompt, please allow it to Run.An extraction should now occur. Once the extraction is complete an installation window may pop open. Please close any install windows. You do not want to run an installation. Next, click on your Start menu. In the 'search programs and files' box type %temp% and hit enter on your keyboardWhen the Temp folder opens locate the 7z folder. Click on this folder to open it. It should include files that say OJ860At the top of this folder you will see a file path bar. It may show something like 'Computer- Local Disk C - Users - AppData - Local - Temp - 7z . . . ' Left click on the right hand side of this file path bar at the top. The file path should now highlight.Right click on the highlighted file path and select CopyClose the Temp folderClick on your Start menuSelect Devices and PrintersRight click on you HP Officejet 8610 Left click on Printer PropertiesLeft click on the Advanced tabLeft click on New DriverWhen the New Driver window opens please hit 'Next' until you see a list of Manufacturers and Printers Click on the 'Have Disk' button on the bottom rightWhen the 'Install from Disk' window opens, simply right click on the file path bar and 'Paste' in the file path we previously copied.Click OKWhen prompted choose the HP Officejet 8600 Printer and click 'Next' until the Add Driver window closesUnder Printer Properties select Apply, but don't hit OKSelect the General tabRename your printer back to HP Officejet Pro 8610 Hit OK Now that the alternate Officejet driver has been loaded, please test printing to confirm if the printing issue has been resolved.  Please let me know if the steps I've provided resolve your printing issue. Good luck!

  • Windows 8.1 and Officejet Pro 8620

I bought a new Officejet Pro 8620 for my office and installed it on 4 machines. All of them could print but only one coupld scan. There happened to be a hardware issue and I had to return it to the store. When I went to install the new printer (the second one) the computers are not able to scan but not print. I have tried de-installing and re-installing the drivers from the disk and downloaded from HP, and nothing seems to work. I'm not getting any error messages, and I am able to add the printer and it shows up in my devices, nothing gets stuck in the printing queue, but nothing ever actually prints.
We have a secondary wireless printer (HP as well) that we are able to connect to wirelessly, not sure if that will help understand my problem.
I appreciate any help you can provide.
    Thank you

    Hi kmwenman,
Is this issue happening on all 4 machine that you have installed the Officejet 8620 on?
Please download and install the HP Print and Scan Doctor and let me know the outcome of each test performed. Please run this on all of the computers the printer is installed on if the issue is occurring.
You will see a wrench, a yellow exclamation mark, a red X, or a check mark next each tested item.
Click here to download and run the utility > HP Print and Scan Doctor
Is the printer connected directly to a wall outlet or a surge protector? (It is best to connect directly to the wall)
Do  you have any other HP Printers installed on these computers? If so, do you still have the printer(s)?
Is this an HP laptop or a different brand?
Are all the computers running 8.1?
I look forward to hearing from you.

  • Print issue with Photoshop CS4 and Officejet 6500

I have a Windows 7 Business 64 bits desktop computer. After  installing the Officejet Pro 6500 multifunctional drivers all was  working OK. Images were being printed nice and with the correct size  using Windows print option. After installing Adobe CS4 suite, all images  printed from windows or Photoshop have incorrect size (photoshop prints  it smaller, about 33%, and on upper left corner of the sheet).
Photoshop sucks but Illustrator print fine. The only way I can print  at the good size in Photoshop, it's when I select Microsoft XPS  document writer as printer and print from there... Not very user friendly !!!
And  yes, it was always the HP Officejet 6500 E709n fax selected by default  by Photoshop instead of  HP Officejet 6500 E709n !
Is anybody can say if it's an HP issue or an Adobe issue ??? Why Illustrator print fine and Photoshop don't ???
    Thank's  in advance.

Deleting the fax printer  associated with this device to allows correct printing is not an  acceptable alternative for me.
If it is a printer issue, why I can print correctly from Illustrator ???

Thank you very much for your answer ! Maybe anybody have an other solution or explanation.

In 2008 I bought an HP Pavilion Elite with Vista with a HP OfficeJet 5610 All-In-One connected through USB. About a year ago I upgraded to Windows 7 and print and scan worked OK. Last week I received an e-mail from HP for HP Print and Scan Doctor (ver 4.3) and installed it. I have had a problem trying to install the software updates that it said that I need. I have uninstall and reinstalled many times.
The HP Print and Scan Doctor said that the printing works but the scanner part fails at Registery, HP Scan Flow Manager, and Front Panel Test.
    Any help would be appreacited.
The HP Print and Scan Doctor reports:
A later version of software is available for this product.
I used the install file: AIO_CDB_NonNet_Full_Win_WW_130_141.EXE.
    It usually gets:
