Photosmart C4280 no power light after paper jam

I had a paper jam. The printer shut down with no error messages. I cleared the jam and the power will not come back on. I checked the cords, etc.

Hi @GrandpaBear ,
I see by your post that after removing the paper jam, the printer won't power on. I would like to help you out today.
I have provided a document that you can try, to see if we can get the printer to turn back on again.
The HP Printer Won't Turn On or Respond When the Power Button is Pressed.
Just to rule out the power outlet, try the printer in a different room on another breaker.

  • OJ Pro 8000 A809n - Printer comes on with lights indicating paper jam

OJ Pro 8000 A809n - Printer comes on with CONTINUE and POWER lights flashing. I press CONTINUE and it feeds a sheet but top of sheet passes thru the print area and stops halfway down the sheet. I press CONTINUE again and it ejects the sheet but the lights flash again. I've looked all over for a tiny piece of paper jammed somewhere, including duplexer, and don't see any - even used flashlight. Have done a power reset several times and even reseated the printheads. Where are the paper sensors located on this beast? Also, any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Printer had a broken part. Part location: Open top cover and you will see 8 white rollers. Look to the left of these rollers and you'll see a white gear. To the left of the white gear you'll see a black piece of plastic with a slot in it. This black piece also has an arm sticking out to its left. (This arm rides in a slot on a white collar.) At the end of the black piece's arm there should be a piece of it pointing right up at you. This piece of the end of the arm was broken off. I fished it out from the bottom of the printer and carefully super glued it back on, making sure I didn't glue it to the white collar. Printer is now working fine.  It may not last for long, but right now it's OK.

  • WRT54G v6 blinking power light after update

After performing an update for my WRT54G v6 to version 1.02.6 the power LED blinks fast. DMZ is off.  All the others act normally, on when connected. I have looked in the fourms here, and online, and tried many things, all failed.
Pinging the router works. I always get a response.
I set my network adapter to 10mb half and static IP of 192.168.1.10 with gateway 192.168.1.1
Useing Linksys TFTP always fail with a "No response from server" (fyi: could NOT find that program here, linksys seemed to reorganized there FTP and left out tftp.exe out)
Using Windows "tftp -i 192.168.1.1 code.bin" always returns a "Timeout" within secounds.
    Using OSX "tftp 192.168.1.1 \ binary \ rexmt 1 \ timeout 60 \ trace \ put /Users/djbloo/code.bin" always returns "sent WRQ <file=/User/djbloo/code.bin, mode=octet>"
Using DrayTek Firmware Upgrader on Windows closes after Sent button pressed
Using DrayTek Firmware Upgrader on OSX returns "No response"
Is there something im missing? Am I completly screwed?

Try to hard reset your for 1 minute(not 30 seconds) and see if that gives you a steady power light...
Press and hold the reset button for 1 minute...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 1 minute and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...
Also make sure that your computer is set to obtain IP automatically, disable any firewalls, security softwares on the computer before trying to access the setup page...
If pinging the router works(either with a static ip or automatically) then try to access your router set-up and configure it manually...

  • Resuming after paper jam

I read the other posts about jaming and resuming. I'm assuming that people printing are seeing the same screen as I.I do not find a (resume) buttom anywhere. After clearing the jam the printer went thur some noises and then went quite. I waited 10 minutes and nothing.Again I saw no resume buttom. I've turned the printer off and I guess I'm starting all over. This manual is 147 pages and I've printed 81. I went to see on my computer "whats printing now" and saw nothing of what I had been printing. Its seems (and this is probably not the printers issue) that the page that you arrive at after hitting the print buttom does not allow me to print pages ( 80 - 147). Any ideas other than buying the manual as its seems I already have with using so much ink. Sincerely, Brakallie1

    Hi DJ,
Since performing mulitple print head alignments did not fix the alignment issue, the printer will require servicing.  You are still within the warranty period; please Contact Us for your servicing options.

  • Help with recurring paper jam on psc 2410

My printer is an HP psc 2410 all in one photosmart and I get a recurring paper jam.  The paper stops feeding half way through and I get a message that the printer is out of paper.  When I open the back, I see that the paper is half way through and I can grab the paper and pull it out. When I close it up, the printer wants to align cartridges and I hit ok and then it feeds the paper through and here we go again....same jam, same place.  I went through the whole tech support lists of what to do if you have a paper jam and nothing worked and then they said my printer needed service.  It is not under warranty anymore, of course, and they want me to pay around $30 just to find out if it can be fixed. Does anybody know what is wrong with my printer and how to fix it??

    Hi there,

  • Photosmart6510/B2112/ Paper Jam occurring even after original item removed

We removed the original small paper causing the Jam.  Now paper seems to jam in middle of printer, just right of the center of the paper because it has been dented coming through the back of the printer.  When that jam is removed,   blank pages keep coming through until a new jam occurs. What does the paper catch on to cause it to dent the paper? Are the rollers the problem?

    Hi,

  • False paper jam reported on Photosmart C7250

I have been using my Photosmart C7250 for the past 2 1/2 years without a problem. Ny configuration is: Windows 7 (32 bit), Ethernet wire connection with fixed IP address. I get a paper jam message. I have checked that there is no paper jammed. I have cleaned the pronter thourolly (but carefully) and even used (sparingly) some compressed air to clean the whole paper path. I have don all the recommended cleaning / reset procedures.
Once i have reset the printer, i can print a document without a problem. Once the last page is printed, however, i get the papaer jam message. I have even tried to do double-sided printing withoout any errors, except the paper jam message after printing.
What else can i do? Is it worth it to take it to a repair shop or is it better to buy a new printer (since i can get one for less than $100)

    Hi @nana1663
Sometimes paper jam messages can be false. From your description, it sounds like maybe resetting the printer could resolve the issue.
I will send you a PM (Private Message), but before I do, feel free to review the HP Privacy Statement.
This Privacy Statement informs you of our privacy practices and of the choices you can make about the way information about you and your online activity is collected and how that information is used. This statement is readily available on our HP.com home page and at the bottom of every HP web page.
There are an increasing number of posts in this forum and elsewhere in the internet with the steps to do a resets on different printers.  The reset itself will sometimes fix problems, so the reset is not the issue.
Some resets require you to enter button combinations to open special menus on your printer that you were never meant to access.  These special menus are used by the developers and support personnel for debugging issues, but they are not meant for untrained users and can have unintended results.  One wrong button push and you no could no longer have a printer, but instead a pricey paper weight.  To top it off, if you do happen to "brick" the printer this way, it is considered customer induced damage, and voids the warranty automatically. These resets are only meant to be given out and used as a last resort, and under direct instruction of a HP tech support representative. They should not be done lightly!

  • Is anyone having an issue with the hp photosmart premium c310a? I keep getting a "paper jam" error

I hope someone from hp is monitoring these posts. I am very disappointed with the new photosmart premium eAll-in-one. I just bought this printer in april and recently when printing, an error message "paper jam" will pop up after just printing 1 or 2 pages. I did all the recommended troubleshooting steps hp has online but after printing a couple pages error message comes back. And thats not even the worst part! I called hp tonight 4 TIMES to get this issue resolved because at this point I want a new printer sent to me! I have been hung up on 2 times and then told the other times that I need to talk to a case manager. Guess what? No case manager available to talk about my printer issue!! I spoke to 6 different representatives with NO help to be found. I cannot return to staples store where I bought it because its after the 14 day return policy hp has with staples. That is the MOST STUPIDEST policy I have ever heard of!! If I knew in advance that I could not return this printer to the store I got it from after 14 days have passed, I would have NEVER BOUGHT IT!! I am still waiting for a case manager to call me back so that I can get this thing picked up ad a new one sent to me.

    Try this:
Apple menu / System Preferences / Network.
Click Location: and select Edit Locations..
Click + (plus sign), and enter a name for the new location - anything will do.
    Apply this.

  • Error message "auto duplexer is not installed" after a paper jam was removed on my epson artisan 837.

I print from a Macbook Pro (April '09) OSX 10.9.3 to an Epson Artisan 837 duplex all-in-one which has been functioning perfectly for some time. The other day while duplex printing I got a vague error message to the effect "printer error, turn off machine and power back on." I repeated that process several times waiting a period of time and/or doing it speedily. I even unplugged the printer from its outlet, turned off the computer, waited overnight and tried again, all to no avail. I then found the back tray had a paper jam which I removed and replaced the tray.  Since this ordeal I have NOT been able to use the duplex function. After apple's air-print, an Epson Customer Service person told me to add a printer in Systems, printer preferences and to simply add in the same printer (only one i have) but choose not to have it be air-print. This worked even though it gave me Epson Artisan 837 and Epson Artisan 837II (the first with air-print the second not). I must be missing some step this time, however, because although I now have essentially 2 printer choices, the Epson II has duplex printing choices grayed out and gives me the error message "auto duplexer is not installed." Sorry to make this so long, but can anyone help me with this problem?

Thank you. Those are beautifully written procedures.
Looks like it's a network issue. I reach the step, "Adding a printer using the wizard":
You must enter the following URL, you must use the Queue Name you noted down earlier
    http://<IP address of Mac>:631/printers/Queue Name
    which I do, entering
    http://192.168.0.4:631/printers/MP830
and I get the following error:
"Could not connect to the printer. You either entered a printer name that was incorrect or the specified printer is no longer connected to the server."
    And then I am toast!
Using the other procedure, I simply don't see the Mac's printers in the Bonjour Wizard's "Browse for Bonjour Printers" window.
Not sure where to go from here -- any ideas?
The Mac's IP (set via DHCP) is 192.168.0.4, subnet mask 255.255.255.0. The PC is 192.168.0.5, I can't find the subnet mask.
Pretty sure it's a network config issue, especially isnce I can Bonjour to my other Mac.
    TIA...

  • C3180 Photosmart All-in-one won't print. Gives message 'clear paper jam.' There is no paper jam.

C3180 Photosmart All-in-one won't print. Gives message  'clear paper jam.'  There is no paper jam.  About a month ago there was a paper jam, but was removed.  It worked fine since then until yesterday.  I've tried all the HP trouble-shooting suggestions- unplug, take apart, manually move carriage, etc. and nothing has solved the problem.  The paper does not advance...all that happens if I try to print is a lot of noise like carriage going back and forth and after a/b 1-2 minutes it will show the "red X" blinking on the printer and a message on the computer screen, "Clear paper jam."  When the problem first started yesterday the message was that the printer was "Out of paper."  I need to print a resume and this is just the wrong time for someone such as myself with little computer knowledge to try to figure it out.  Thanks for any suggestions!

    Hi there pattimessick,
You may not need to remove/re-add. Try downloading and running the print and scan doctor located here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03275041&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
It can fix a lot on its own (especially connectivity problems) and if not give a better idea of what is going on.

  • HP C3180 power light won't stop blinking after wireless print (from PC)

I've raised this issue in an earlier post - but maybe with too much verbiage.
My PC prints wirelessly to a (raw Q on a) MAC which is USB-connected to an HP Photosmart C3180. When I use the driver for the 3180 on the PC (either with an LPR port or an internet port), the jobs are created with an "error" status, and never leave the PC.
I've found, however, that the HP 550C driver (and a generic HP Deskjet) will work fine on both the LPR port and the internet port. The printing is exceptionally fast - but the power light continues to blink after the job is finished. I have to press the "cancel" button on the printer console to stop the blinking. Some sort of "handshaking" between the printer and the driver software is not happening, apparently.
I also print from the Mac to the 3180 (foomatic/hpijs C3100 driver, usbtb backend) - and everything works fine.
    Any advice/information will be welcome.

Sorry!! much ado about nothing. Since the HP Photosmart is not a PS printer, I have to use (for example) an Apple Color LW 12/660 PS as the driver on the PC (NOT a Windows driver) in order to print over the wireless network to the Mac.
Phew! Printer software makes networking look like a piece of cake!

  • Printer Not Working After I Removed Paper Jammed Using Some Force

I emailed a local repair shop who let me know they'll fix it for me for between €15-30 (Euros) depending. So problem solved.

Hi!After years of never having this happen recently a paper jam occurred, and I pulled the sheet of paper out in the front using some force as it was really stuck in there. Only now do I see on this forum that it is possible to remove the paper from the back. But since then the printer doesn't print anymore. It makes sounds, like something inside moves, and it seems to want to take in the paper, but that doesn't happen. The scan light moves a bit, but not to the end. The indication lights on top also act differently than normal, as if something went haywire with the programming.  Any way I can fix this?

  • HP Photosmart Plus B209a-m paper jam errors

I keep getting a paper jam error on my photosmart plus B209 a-m.  I have followed all of the directions in the guided help.  There is no paper jam and every time I try to print thats what message I get.
Can anyone help?  I am so frustrated I am ready to scream.  I just got this printer for Christmas.  Geeze!!

I have exactly the same problem!  Also VERY frustrated!
Called HP 'Support' yesterday and was told (LITERALLY):  "Throw the printer away."  !!!!
The machine is just slightly out of warranty and, since HP, in their infinite wisdom, has decided NOT to locate a Service/Repair Center anywhere in all of Australia, they are unable to service or repair this printer.
Aside from the cost associated with buying a new printer, I find this VERY ENVIRONMENTALLY UNFRIENDLY!!  To be trashing such a piece of hardware for a simple problem like this, is not a very smart way to be doing things, in my book.
I am convinced that anyone who knows how to open this machine up could fix this problem in 30 minutes, but I can't figure out for the life of me how to get into the machine.
After having had a very close look into the guts of the machine, I can actually see where the carriage is hanging up, but am unable to disassemble or open the machine up to un-jam it.
DOES ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW HOW TO DISASSEMBLE AN HP-B209A (All-In-One) PRINTER??
    VERY, VERY POOR SHOW HP!!!!!
