Photosmart c4580 printing problems windows 7

I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. My HP Photosmart C4580 prints 70% of the document correctly and the other 30% only prints the very top third of the characters on that line.  Any idea for the fix when the printer is only printing what appears to be the "first pass" of the print-head for any given line in a document?

Hi there,
To make sure there are no software problems causing this try downloading and running the print and scan doctor located here:
http://goo.gl/Ujpib
It can fix a lot on its own and if not give a better idea of what is going on.
Best of Luck!

  • Printing cards and labels on Photosmart C4580 printer

I couldn't find my particular problem using the search so I'm hoping for some answers here. I have a Photosmart C4580 printer connected to a Toshiba laptop running Vista with all the current updates. My problem is that I can't seem to get it to print on business card stock or addrress label stock. Here's the issue:
I use Word to create business cards to print onto business card stock. The instructions that came with the card stock say to do a test page on regular paper first to verify placement, which I do - everything looks perfect so I put a page of card stock in the feeder. The printer grabs the page and prints with the image offset towards the top of the page by about 1/4" so that the top of the card is above the edge of the cards. As the cards are repeated down the page, it shifts down slightly so that by the time it gets to the bottom of the page it's almost on the card, but still overlaps the top edge slightly. Printing onto regular paper works perfectly every time.
A similar thing happens printing address labels - again using Word to create the labels for either Avery 5267 or Avery 8161 label stock. On regular paper everything looks perfect, but feed a sheet of label stock in and the text is offest toward the top of the page. The last time I needed labels I was able to get it to print properly by printing one label at a time, then refeeding the page and printing the next one, then repeating until each label on the page was printed. When you're printing several pages of labels that takes a lot of time!
Is there something I need to do to get this printer to print cards and labels?

@ deblois 1089 - I will need a little more information to help out. What are the specifications of the labels? Do you have the measurements and the weight of the paper type? Thanks

  • Lion - Installing Photosmart C4580 Printer

Does anyone now how to install a HP Photosmart C4580 printer on Lion?  I downloaded the printdrivers.  When I go to add the printer it tells me that the driver is available from Apple then after searching it tells me that the driver is currently unavailable and instructs me to go to the manufacturers website.  The HP website tells me to go to Apple.  Any thoughts or suggestions?

First of all, just want to check that after downloading the driver you did run the installer? I ask because there has been new users who download the driver but don't run the included installer, thinking that they can just browse to this downloaded file as you do in Windows.
If you did run the driver installer then when you get the message stating that the driver is available from Apple, do you still find that the Print Using menu is active and that you can click on "Select Printer Software"? If yes, then should be able to browse to the driver that you installed on the Mac.

  • HP Photosmart D6160 printer with Windows 7 os

I have an 18 month old HP Photosmart D6160 printer that has performed excellently on my PC running Windows 2000 Professional. The printer using the installed CD software was able to provide test prints, maintenance information and most importantly show which of the six ink cartridges was empty when the printer cartridge indicator light showed a problem. I have recently bought a Packard Bell TJ65 laptop using the Windows 7 os but HP do not provide any updated drivers for this os. The Windows 7 os recognises the printer and has a basic driver which does allow me to print but in order to ascertain which of the six cartridges has a problem (low ink level or empty) I have to remove and replace each cartridge in turn in order to find out which one needs to be replaced. None of the other printer maintenance is available either. I would appreciate any advice on whether there is a workaround for this problem. Thank you in anticipation! Ken

I have exactly the same problem, I have tried on HP's website, they seem to have some software for windows 7 now, but have tried to download the patch but as the original software would not install with windows 7 OS the patch wont work, it would not be so bad if the printer was really ancient, but it is not, the company do not seem to be very supportive, I have loads of ink for it but can never tell which cartridge has run out until it stops printing that colour.  What a shame there does not seem to be an answer.

  • Why can't I setup my HP Photosmart C4580 Printer with my Macbook?

Okay, first of all, I've got to say that this has to be one of the most troublesome pieces of computer hardware that I've ever had the misfortune of running across. The only thing that keeps me from going all "Office Space" on it, (as another frustrated user put it) is that I've had the printer since I got my Macbook in late 2008, and there have been huge stretches of time when it has worked more or less perfectly. However, each time I update my OS, or try to add the printer to a new computer, all **** breaks loose. This latest time has really taken the cake- as I've been messing with it consistently for several weeks and have not been able to use it at all.
I guess it began when I upgraded to OS X Snow Leopard around April. Prior to this the wi-fi printing had worked fine, but after this upgrade for some reason I could only print with the USB connected. Then, about a month ago I upgraded to OS X Lion, and I'm still unable to get the wi-fi printing to work.
The point I'm at now, is that I've downloaded what I believe to be the appropriate HP setup utility package, and went through that all the way through where it sets up the wireless functionality of the printer and it says to go to 'Print & Fax' in System Preferences and add the printer. So I do that, and I get to this point:
    Setting up 'Photosmart C4500 series
    [F559E3]...'
Software for this printer is available from Apple.
Would you like to download and install it?
... where I obivously click "Download and Install". At this point, I get a dialog that says "Finding software" for several minutes, and then says:
    Setting up 'Photosmart C4500 series
    [F559E3]...'
The software for this printer is currently unavailable.
Please contact the printer's manufacturer for the
    latest software.
... at this point the only option is "Cancel", and when I click that, I'm left with no printers in my list of printers. Likewise, if I don't click "Download and Install on the previous screen, it cancels the setup.
This leads me to believe that it may actually be an issue with Apple instead of HP at this point, but I'm not sure. Likewise, I've tried other options such as setting up the printer by it's IP address and by something called an HP Jetdirect - Socket, but those methods were unfruitful.
I feel like I should note that, when I go to "Add Printer", I'm presented with a list of both the USB connected version of my printer, and the "Bonjour Multifunction" version (wi-fi). So it seems that the computer is having no trouble at least detecting the printer, which has been a problem for me in the past.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Despite HP's statement that 10.7 is supported for the Photosmart C4580, there are no drivers for this.  I spoke to their Support Line and basically you need to buy a new printer.  Wow!  Wish I had known that before I upgraded to Lion.
HP does have a Trade-In and Trade-Up program.  Sounds like the newer model printers will also handle the AirPrint for your iPhone and iPads.

  • Photosmart c4580 compatibility with windows rt

    hi there,
i was wondering if there was a date for a possible driver update for the hp photosmart c4580 so it is compatible with windows rt?
    thanks

    Hello ashhanna1
I understand you are trying to install the HP Photosmart C4580 on Windows RT. Windows RT does not have the ability to install software the same as normal Windows operating systems. That is not to say you cannot print on Windows RT though. I am providing you with an HP Support document: Install the Printer Software in Windows RT or Windows 8 on a Tablet. This document will walk you through how to setup your printer on Windows RT if it is at all possible.
I hope this helps to resolve your printing issue. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Need driver for HP Photosmart 1115 printer for windows 7 beta

What driver can I use to get this printer to work?  Can you also provide installation procedure?   Would your recommendation also work for HP Photosmart 1215 printer which I also have?
    Thanks

Had the same problem, got it working by using Photosmart 8200 driver.   You have to go to add a printer, select Dot4 USB for the port, and then pick the 8200 driver from the list that Windows 7 ships with.   Once you do, it just works.   My test page printed on the first try.   HP could make this a *lot* easier for everyone, but I guess they are in the business of selling more printers.

  • Cannot get photosmart c4580 printer to work

My C4580 printer just stopped working one day and I've not been able to get it working again. I have tried it wirelessly and I have plugged the cable in and still doesn't work. I have tried downloading the printer drivers again but still no luck. The printers scan function works so I'm unsure if the problem is my laptop which is a good few years old.

  • Photosmart 7850 Printing Problem

My Photosmart 7850 printer - that I dearly love, and need for work - is giving me the flashing red light, and has a small squre looking icon in the error box. I tried the troubleshooting options to no avail. Is it toast? This is the 2nd time this has occured in 2 weeks. The first time, it corrected by unplugging the printer and rebooting the computer (Wndows XP os, btw), but that hasn't worked this time out.

Problem was due to a bad black ink cartridge.

  • Photosmart 7520 print problem

Printer will either not print from my Mac computer at all or prints very slowly and only partial job.  Owned printer 1-1 1/2 years. First time problem.

    Hi fishbum,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.  I see that you are having issues printing your Photosmart 7520 printer from your Mac.
Please follow the steps in the Print Jobs are Stuck in the Print Queue document. There is a section for each operating system.  Please click on your version of Mac to find the steps.  If that doesn’t help you would you please provide some further information:
How is the printer connected (USB cable or wireless)?
What version of Mac OS X are you using? Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
Have you gotten any error messages? If yes, what did the error message say and where was it displayed (printer or computer)?
    Thank you.

  • Maverick and Photosmart 7150 printer problems

Updated to Maverick os x and now my hp photosmart 7150 printer won't work .. can I update .. and if so how do I update my printer driver for maverick?

    Hello
I believe the HP Photosmart 7150 was released back around 2002.
Which version of OSX did you upgrade from ?   Were you running previous OS X 10.6 when you upgraded to new 10.9 ?
Unfortunately, the HP Photosmart 7150 has not been supported for some time now with the last few releases of OS X.

  • Photosmart 6525 print problem

Have new 6525 which worked fine for first 3 weeks. Now when I send a job to print, it either doesn't print at all or will print 10 to 20 minutes later. The print dialog window shows its printing, but nothing happens. I'm using an iMac and wireless network.

What router?  What version of OS X?

  • C4580 print problem with 5x7 prints

I have a C4580 printer that is about 6 months old. It's hardly been used.
I bought some HP Premium Plus Photo Paper, 5x7 size, to print out some photos. I just installed the latest driver for the printer on my WinXP machine.
When the 5x7 prints come out of the printer, the last 1/12th or so of the image is grainy, and there's a small triangle sliver of white area that doesn't print out. You can see both of these in the scans.
I watched as one of these prints out, and it seems that as the print is nearing completion, the printer "loses it's grip" on the print and isn't ejected with the same force as it was early in the print. Any suggestions?

  • Can't find driver for my hp photosmart 7660 printer for windows 7

Hello, I want a driver(hp photosmart 7660) for my laptop I wouldn't like to change my printer. I tried the steps another guy asked for the same printer but for windows 8 and it didn't worked. I couldn't find the 1st printer hp deskjet plc3 or something and the others didn't work. Please if anyone can help me I would appreciate it.

    Hi,
Although a driver for Windows 7 is not avaialble, you may install an Alternative driver by using the Deskjet 5600 model.
Follow these steps to install an alternative driver for your printer:

  • Report print problems windows 7

    Hi All,
Am trying to get to the bottom of a really weird error that occurs periodically.
When trying to print an HTML report using the Print Report VI occasionally an IE error is thrown. An error dialogue with some info is shown, it says the error occurs in res://ieframe.dll/preview.js which is clearly not part of my LabVIEW code. Note this does not come out of the error cluster, it is generated within the ActiveX node itself.
    Any body have similar problems?
Using LV2010 (32-bit) on Windows 7. Have tried installing latest versions of IE etc and it does not solve the problem.
    nrp

    Hi nrp,
This seems to be more of a Windows error but it could be related to how LabVIEW is trying to communicate with IE too. I would recommend that you try the official example and see what happens. There is a VI in the Example Finder called HTML Report. It shows you how to correctly create a HTML report. There is also an example by the name of PrintControlReport.vi. This shows how you can then print any report that you’ve created. The combination of the two should give you what you need.
    Hope this helps,
