Photosmart c4599 wireless problem

Hi,
I'm trying to set up my C4599, but whenever I go through the setup process I get the following error after the diagnostic test:
"The connected printer does not support wireless networking"
How can I solve this?
Thanks

I got the same message installing a C4580 on Windows XP connected with a cable to a Linksys 54G wireless router "The connected printer does not support wireless networking".  It also stumped the support tech.  In my case, no amount of fooling with the firewall, channel, rebooting, etc. made one whit of difference.  I tried to install on my Vista laptop.  Same error (but I could continue if I connected to HPsetup under wireless networks - not a working solution, though).  However the support tech noted that I had other HP services installed on the XP.  That gave me an idea.  I did have an HP D4200 installed.  I used add or remove programs on the control panel to remove all HP products.  I rebooted everything.  Then the C4580 installed.  I gather the C4580 installation software is simply incompatible with the D4200 software since I tried the installation on two very different computers with only the wireless router and the D4200 in common and ended up with the identical error message.
After installing, I still got an error about a firewall possibly blocking a port.  It asked if I wanted to continue via USB.  I did so.  I shut down both the printer and the computer.  The printer hung on shutdown, and I had to unplug it.  I also removed the USB cable.  When I turned things back on, they worked.  My Vista laptop already had the drivers and fired up without further ado.  However, if the printer is turned off, the laptop connection goes offline and does not immediately come back online when the printer is turned on.  One can click the printer icon and make it online, but it is a little irritating.

  • Photosmart 7510 wireless problem.. Fed Up

I have a Photosmart 7510 and it keeps loosing connection with my router. I am fed up turning it off and on,so I am going to wire it directly into my Mac via USB CABLE. Is there any setting that I have to change on my Mac ? Or can I start printing right away ?

Do you want to work on the wireless issue at all?
To answer your question, first download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
    Restart your Mac.
Now, plug the printer directly into your Mac.  Within a minute or so you will be able to print/scan.

  • HP Photosmart B110a wireless problems !!

OK I've trawled every forum and wasted an awful lot of time courtesy of HP !! Have a MacBook Pro, iPhone4 & 3GS + iPad2 ; all connected via a Netgear 834bg, all software/firmware up to date. It has to be said I'm fairly Tech Savvy and can solve/hack most problems, that is apart from WiFi connection to a HP printer. Had a C4580 before the B110a, this worked brilliantly over Wifi (scan/print) up until 18 months ago after an update (Apple/HP). As mentioned it stopped working, thought WiFi radio was bust but eventually came to the conclusion that it was working OK - nevertheless went foe an upgrade (or so I thought) for iPad/iPhone/AirPrint connectivity. Well I have now eventually managed to 'connect' MacBook / IP4/iPad etc. no thanks to HP and its useless manuals and install procedure (went through this at least 5 times - from scratch !!). As said I'm fairly capable in solving tech problems, this has been an appalling struggle !!! Judging from this support website and other forums it is a slim comfort to see how many people have real difficulties with what should be a straight forward install procedure. HP is as a company very good at producing greatly hyped websites and advertising about their products - what if YOU (HP) put as much effort in getting your products to work straight out of the box ?? Any Apple product I have bought have ALWAYS worked - just like that, don't get me wrong I've been a great fan of HP as a company until this purchase. There are a lot of customers fumbling in the dark with WiFi and connectivity issues; very obviously so in this forum !!
As for the comment  'Want Good Answers - Ask Good Questions' ; how about
'Want Happy customers ? Write good Software !!
I will share my solutions at a later stage, hopefully it will offer some solutions - I do not want 'HP users' to go through the same HP-Hell as I have

OK just to clarify how I managed to get what somehow looks like a reasonable/stable connection, this follows trawling this and other forums for clues - Thanks to those who have provided me with some of these clues, can't remember names
You need to get in to the EWS (embedded web server) of the printer, paste URL from network configuration page into Safari etc. (192.168.0.xx). See screenshots: Assign Manual IP4 adress+ subnet+default gateway. You also need to get to the Advanced section in Network Tab, make sure you've got WPA (PSK) with 13chars+ password, WEP will not work ! I stress that this procedure is tested for MACBook/iPad2/iPhone4 only, but should work for Windows as well. So BIG question to HP : WHY oh WHY is all this necessary ????

  • HP PhotoSmart C4599 problems with Wireless on Windows 7 x64

Hello, I have a printer HP PhotoSmart C4599 running great on my Windows 7, but the problem is the Wireless of the printer. I've got a laptop (running on Windows Vista x86) that I use to print documents via Wireless and when i try to add the printer by wireless on the laptop it says the main computer (the one that is running Windows 7 x64) does not have the OEM proper driver installed, and it has...

Verify that power outlet is working with a lamp or other appliance.
Verify power cord and power module are correct parts for that specific printer. Compare the Output voltage on the power module (the black box) with the listed voltage on the printer where the power cord plugs in. These must be the same
Remove power cord and power module from printer and power outlet. Separate power cord and module (let stand for 15 seconds)
Plug Power Cord into Power Module (plug firmly together)
Plug Power Cord with module directly into WALL outlet (Remove any surge protector or extension cords and plug printer cord directly into wall socket)
Check to see if power cord or module has LED light.
If has LED make sure it is glowing (if not glowing then replace power cord and module)
If no LED  Plug cord into printer - make sure it is plugged in properly and firmly.
Press power button on printer to power up. If does not power up first time hit power button a few times to see if it works.
if you happen to have another printer with same power cord configuration (fits specs) try these steps again
If printer will not become responsive at this point, then you'll need to replace the printer.
if it is a hardware issue, contact HP support at 1-800-474-6836.  Often there are special offers on replacements available to returning customers who are having hardware issues.

  • Dell Dimension desktop sometimes won't communicate with my HP Photosmart 6510 wireless printer

At random times, when trying to print from Dell Dimension desktop to HP Photosmart 6510 wireless printer, I get a message that the computer can't communicate with the printer.  The printer shows that it is connected to the Internet. I haven't changed any settings.   Each time this happens, I unplug the printer and router, but it doesn't fix the problem.  After about 20 minutes or so, it prints normally.  It always happens at the most inopportune times.  Any suggestions about how I can keep this from recurring?

These settings are for setting up your wireless printer to stay connected to your router, keeps wireless devices better connected and makes your router secure and hack proof.
    1. Set a static IP in the printer (see step 6) outside the DHCP range of the router (check your manual).
    2. Verify in the printer that 'Auto Off' is disabled.  Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) by going to the
printers IP address in your browsers address bar, click  Settings Tab/Auto Off.  Or use the Printer
        Assistant, Printer Home Page (EWS).
In the router:  (Refer to your router manual for information)
    3. Use a fixed wireless channel like 1,6 or 11, never 'auto', try channel 1 first then the rest.
    4. Set router to 20Mhz only, or 145Mbps depending on router.
    5. Always use WPA2-AES (Personal) encryption, but you can try ‘mixed’ mode.
    6. Disable WPS and never use it and disable UPnP for the routers security.  Nobody can hack your
system now and helps with wireless connectivity (if you want to know why, search the web).
    7. If you have a dual band router (2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz bands), make sure the SSID’s are NOT the same,
they must be different for all bands, even for any Guest networks.
    8. Save all settings.  Power off both, wait 5 mins.  Power on router wait 3 mins.
    9. Power on printer and verify it reconnects to router.
Windows 7/8/8.1   Is Network Discovery on or off?
Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings.
Under Home or Work (current profile) \ Network Discovery.
Select "Turn on network discovery" and save changes.

  • Trouble connecting HP Photosmart D110 wireless printer to D-Link router

We just installed our new all in one modem/wireless router that we received from Verizon yesterday.  The computers connected fine but our HP Photosmart D110 wireless printer will not connect.  We tried many different things.  It connects fine when using the new D-Link with our old wireless router connected.  It will also connect to the modem if there is no security encryption.  Does anyone know how to solve this problem?  Thank you!

  • More on wireless problems with 10.4.8+

There has been much said and discussed about wireless problems with the Macbook's with 10.4.8+ updates, both the C1D and the C2D macbooks have seen problems with a number of units.
Unfortunately, it is very hard to find real information on this website, because the forum is drowned in "wireless problems!" posts from people that have not read the previous posts.
Since there may be several unrelated wireless problems around, I'll try to specify my particular problem and add in solid information, so others can check if their system behaves like mine.
    First. The symptoms:
    1. The Macbook does not connect to WEP or WPA networks after sleep or being shut down.
    2. The Wireless icon blinks between black and grey.
    3. The Apple support information about deleting all networks and keychains WORKS, but only until next sleep or shut down. Afterwards the procedure has to be done again to connect (very annoying).
    4. This may be unrelated, but Keychain Access crashes on startup and can only be run in Rosetta.
First, we need to establish a few things
    1. The problem is real and is not limited to a particular Access Point (I have had problems with both a D-link 624+ and now a Netgear DG834GT from Sky Broadband.
    2. The problem exists with 10.4.8 and 10.4.9 but not with 10.4.6 or 10.4.7. This I have tested multiple times.
    3. It really does not matter if I use WEP or WPA.
Now. /var/log/system.log does actually output an awful lot of stuff during this.

So I get the same problems with a D-link DGL-4300,
after every sleep I need to reset the router to get
thw wireless working again. I really need a solution
    for this.
For me, resetting the router does not work, only removing network from Airport preferences and re-adding it. Have you confirmed that this is indeed the same issue by looking what gets printed to /var/log/system.log?
To show the output, do the following from the terminal
    sudo cat /var/log/system.log
This prints the contents of the log-file to the terminal window.

  • U300s wireless problems (multiple)

I have had my U300s just over a year now and am suddenly encountering wireless problems.  Like others on this board with different IdeaPads (esp. U310), I experience a dramatic drop in speed when I move from the first floor (where the router is) to the second.  It sometimes disconnects, says I have no internet access, etc.  The second, and more mysterious problem is very, very recent: I have decent internet access -- even when upstairs on the second floor -- until the moment I switch over to an external monitor and close the laptop lid.  Then: nothing.  All other functions work fine, the internet simply cuts out.  This is VERY odd, as up until one month ago in a different apartment (and for a good 8 months), I worked everyday with my laptop connected to an external monitor, lid closed, with no real problems (only the occassionaly slow internet).
Just for the record: I originally thought the wireless cutting out might have to do with my wireless mouse (previously, I had a corded).  So I hunted down an old, corded mouse and...makes no difference.  Clearly not the source of the problem.
I know some people have had problems with their wireless after installing Windows8.  I am still using the original Windows7.
    Thanks for any help!!

Sorry, no. I have been overwhelmed and distracted by a new problem: my keyboard's space bar, enter key, and back space key are not working. It started off as an occassional glitch last week (when I shut down and turned the pc back on, the problems were usually also gone) but now I can press as hard or frequently as I am able and nothing happens.  Or if it does, it is a total fluke, not to happen again any time soon. And it makes no difference if I put it into sleep or shut it off and start it back up. I don't know what to do! Is this a hardware problem or...?

  • I have a HP Pavilion dv 2000 laptop and an HP Photosmart C7280 wireless printer.

I have an HP Pavilllion dv2000 laptop and an HP Photosmart C7280 wireless printer. They have worked well together until I reformatted and added Windows 7 on the laptop. I went online and downloaded the Windows 7 Printer Wizard. It recognizes my printer and says it has been installed. I have followed their directions and plugged USB cable into printer from laptop.  It prints that way. How can I get this to print wirelessly?
