Photosmart c4680 wireless install issues

Recently purchased a hp pavilion g6 laptop and installed my photosmart c4680 printer as a wired printer, but now i am wanting to set it up as a wireless printer but i can't seem to completely uninstall the printer to go through the complete installation process again to set up the printer wirelessly this time. I have a router and have it installed and set up, but i just can't get this darn printer to set up wirelessly. I have tried to install and reinstall several times but i never get back to the initial install like i did when i first had set it up with the step by step on screen instructions instead it does like a plug and play set up; and i am ready to just pick the thing up and smash it on the floor. Please help !!!

  • HP C4780 Wireless Install Issues

Hi, Ive recently gotten a PhotoSmart C4780 but am having problems with connecting it via wireless. i am unable to use the USB connection as the port on the rear is damaged, this install has been going on for days and i'm slowly starting to think it'll be something simple that i've missed.
I'm using a Virgin Media Super Hub manufactured by NetGear. this router is running WPA with a physical pushbutton, however when attempting to connect using push button the printer keeps throwing up WPS ERROR.
I've printed several Network configuration pages, ranging from offline to ready. i've done the same with the wireless network test page. these have ranged from FAIL FAIL FAIL to all PASS. My printer has shown a signal strength indicator of full on the control panel. But after restart has lost all settings again.
I'm thinking that my main problem is when it is aquiring an IP address. On the Network Config Page its IP address is coming up as 169.254.92.103 Everything else on my wireless network is using an IP starting 192 so im assuming its not connecting. I have tried entering the printers ip into a browser window but nothing happens.
Has anybody got any ideas that i can try??
    Regards
    Carl

    Hello-
From what i see , your router is broadcasting in dual or "mixed" mode (802.11g and 802.11n) Is there anyway for you to change it to 802.11g mode only ?? HP printers prefer this frequency. After you make the changes try to connect the printer to your network. You are correct about the IP address. You need to be the same (at least the first three numbers 192.168.*.*) as your computer.
The 169.*.*.* numbers is a generic windows default number.
The easiest method is USB to Wireless. But since your port is bad, you will have to make WPS work:
To connect the HP Photosmart using WiFi Protected Setup (WPS)
    1.
    Do one of the following:
    Use Push Button (PBC) method
    a
    . Set up wireless connection.

On the Home Screen, press button next to Scan.

Press button next to Wireless Menu.

    Press button next to WPS.

Press button next to Push Button.

Press corresponding button on WPS-enabled router or other networking
    device.

    Press OK.
    b
    . Install software.
    NOTE:
The product begins a timer for approximately two minutes in which the
corresponding button on the networking device needs to be pressed.
    I hope this helps.

  • HP PhotoSmart 4795 wireless install on a HP slimline running Win7 - incompatible IP addresses

When I run the install from the CD and try to set up wireless networking I get a message saying I have incompatible IP addresses between the PC and the 4795.     I installed the driver's on one new desktop running Win 7 and 3 other computers (2 running Win 7 and 1 running Vista Home).    It wil print with a direct USB connect, but not wireless.   I ran the wireless network test support from the 4795 and it shows me the incompatible IP address on the 4795.    It does say there were no problems found and passed all of the diagnostic tests.   It recognizes the name of my SSID and provides an IP address that isn't the same 10.*.*.* convention that the computers and Netgear router are using.
Is there a way to hardcode the IP address to match the 10.*.*.* convention using the printer touchscreen or through the properties on the printer?  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail.   I spent 2 hours with HP support chat last night and was told that I may have a hardware problem and to return the product.   Given that I can print when using the USB and the it prints, I'm not so sure that's the case.
Interestingly when I look at the printer properties and view the port settings for the standard TCP/IP port it gives me an address that matches the 10.*.*.* convention.   It's just not the same IP address the wireless network test report tells me which was a 169.*.*.* address.   Any thoughts?

The IP address starting with 169.254.x.x is an Auto IP, which the printer assumes if the router does not assign it a valid IP address similar to the network. This could happen if the router and printer are not communicating properly. I would move the printer closer to the router, and remove any obstacles between the printer and the router. I would also try to and change the channel of the router to 11 and test if the printer gets a valid IP address.

  • Photosmart B209 wireless install on iMac

Hello Trying to help my brother-in-law get his B209 connected wireless to his router. He has an iMac and netgear Wrt54g router. Downloaded and ran HP installer. It doesn't give the option of using WPA- personal only WEP. But if I configure the router with Wpa unsecured, the router sees the printer and I can complete the installation. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Hi,
Thanks for the response. If you are you using the Linksys WRT54g, you can try updating the firmware of the router according to the version of your router - http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/routers/WRT54G.
I've never heard of being able to set WPA encryption without a password. You must have connected the printer with no encryption security.
Another thing you can run is the HP Network Diagnostic Utility which will diagnose your network connection and recommend solutions - http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Nav?h_pagetype=s-926&h_lang=en&h_client=s-a-e021-1&h_keyword=dg-NDU&j...

  • Photosmart C4680 software won't install in Windows 8.1 64 bit

Photosmart C4680 software won't install in Windows 8.1 64 bit. The installer starts, then never does anything. I see it in Task Manager consuming resources forever:
Here is the version I am trying to run:

    Hey!
Sorry for the drop-off from the thread, I must have missed your response, I apologize.
When it comes down to the actual installation and issues revolving around that; it is no longer an HP printer issue. It is an MSI (Microsoft Installer) issue.
For MSI support, I recommend for you to call Microsoft Technical Support at 1-800-642-7676.
Best of luck and let me know the outcome if you think of it. Have a great day!

  • I have an HP Photosmart C4680 and I´m truing to install the Solution Center program but I can´t

I found this very helpful forum and I found a link to download the HP Solution Center for HP Photosmart C4680.
My laptop is a  Samsung Core I3, Windows 8, 64bits. I was able to download the program (I found the link in the forum, thanks) but when I installed it a pop up window appears and there it says, click on the install button to get started, but the only button I see is EXIT.  When I downloaded the program I saw it was updated only until Windows 7, is that the reason why I can´t use it? I really need to see the ink levels of my cartridges. Please, help

    Hi,
Please run and follow the HP PRinter Install Wizard tool below to automatically locate the correct driver for your system and check for any difference while installing the software:

  • Photosmart C4680 not printing

While installing the latest driver for the C4680, at some stage one can print a test page and that one comes out just right. Good, full colors and all. When printing the default Windows Test Page it will only print the heading ('Windows Printer Test Page'), very faintly and the the rest remains blank, though judging the sounds the printer makes, printer heads are moving as if it is printing.
Printing some text from a Windows application such as Word, same thing, it appears to be printing but all I get is a blank piece of paper.
As the test page from HP is printing fine, I don't understand why it won't print from Windows apps.
New cartridges, proper Windows 7 64bit driver - I am lost.

  • Photosmart C4680 -- Error message when attempting to scan

HELP PLEASE!!  -- Have a Photosmart C4680 all-in-one and after 3+ years unable to scan.  This began several months ago but recently need to scan items and if I can't fix the printer will need to purchase a new one.  The printer works fine, but am unable to print ALIGNMENT copy when I change ink and when I attempt to scan I get the error message:
"The scan cannot be performed because another program has control of the HP imaging device".
As I said I have no problem printing, but am unable to scan either documents or photos.  I have done EVERYTHING the FAQ troubleshooting program recommended in the HP Solution Center.  I have REBOOTED, UNINSTALLED and REINSTALLED, MOVED USB CABLE TO A DIFFERENT PORT but I still get the same error message.  If I can't fix the problem I am tossing this printer as soon as I run out of either Black or Color ink, but I'm definitely NOT getting another HP printer if this is what happens after a couple of years.
    Can anyone solve my problem?
    THANKS in advance!
    Hal

Thanks for providing that information halnyguy.
I would suggest doing a Level 3 uninstall and reinstall the Full Feature Software and start over.
Disconnect the USB cable. If using the USB connection.
Hold down the Windows Logo key () on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box, type %temp%.
Delete all files and folders from the temp folder. Choose skip if any pop ups appear saying any of the files could not be deleted.
Download the software and choose to save as, save to desktop. HP Photosmart C4600 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver.
After the software downloads and extracts, open the temp folder again. Close the installation window.
Open the folder starting with 7z. (Example: 7zS2356)
    Open folder Util.
    Open folder CCC.
If you have an HP computer run the L3uninstall.exe. If you have anon-HP computer run the L4uninstall.exe
When the uninstall has completed restart the computer.
Follow these steps to reset the registry settings and options for Windows Installer.
Hold down the Windows Logo key on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box.
In the Open box, type msiexec /unregister, and then click OK.
Hold down the Windows Logo key on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box.
In the Open box, type msiexec /regserver, then click OK.
Run the Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tool. Delete files using Disk Cleanup.
Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player. Adobe Flash Player Support Center.
I would disable all the start up programs and temporarily turn off the Antivirus Software to see if that is causing the issue. How to use MSCONFIG . Click on the start up tab and click disable all.
    Restart the computer.
    Test the printer.
Then you will need to go back in and enable the start up programs and turn the Antivirus Software back on again.
Let me know how you make out.

I have an HP Pavilllion dv2000 laptop and an HP Photosmart C7280 wireless printer. They have worked well together until I reformatted and added Windows 7 on the laptop. We just installed our new all in one modem/wireless router that we received from Verizon yesterday.  The computers connected fine but our HP Photosmart D110 wireless printer will not connect.  We tried many different things.  It connects fine when using the new D-Link with our old wireless router connected.  It will also connect to the modem if there is no security encryption.  Does anyone know how to solve this problem?  Thank you!

  • Recently my HP Photosmart C4680 started periodically printing a product advertisement page.

Recently my HP Photosmart C4680 Series All-In-One started automatically periodically printing a color product advertisement page.  I don't know what is causing this page to print. Anyone know why this is happening?

    baltwo,
Thank you for your reply. I tried what you suggested. Since then, I sent a print job from the internet to the printer, and it took about 45 minutes to print. It's strange how, over time, length of time gets longer and longer before the printer will print. It looks like your suggestion cut off four hours and 15 minutes from my wait time, but 45 minutes is still way too long to wait for a print. I have worked with primarily PC's between home and work, and this is our first Mac (we've had it for a year now) and I've not ever seen anything quite like this issue. If you happen to think of anything else, please let me know.
    Thanks again!

  • Using a repeater with Photosmart b109n wireless printer

I use a Fritz!Wlan repeater on my network.  The installation wizard for HP wireless printers cannot resolve which network SSID because there will be 2 of the same thing listed.  In this case it will say "Looking for Network" endlessly.  To resolve this I had to disconnect my repeater, go through the entire wireless install using the wizard and the USB cable, turn off the printer, plug in the repeater and then turn on the printer.  This took a long time to figure out just in case somebody else runs into the same issue although probably not a common thing to have a repeater in your house.

It is not possible to use another router as repeater ....because the main router will generate signals wirlessly .... the second router will also generate the same network name SSID ..... but connected to that signals you are not able to go online ......
The router will only make you online if it is connected to the Internet Cable at internet port on the back .....
So the kind of network you are looking is not possible using two routers ..... but you can use one router & one range extender (WRE54G) to extend the range or you can use Access Point (WAP54G) to repeat the signals .....

  • Ive recently moved to Muscat in Oman and had wireless installed in my apartment.  I can connect to my laptop but my Ipad will not connect.  Any suggestions

Trying to connect to my Ipad.  I've used it in coffee shops in Muscat and the hotel without any problem.  I've now had wireless installed in the apartment.  I can connect to my laptop but I cannot get the Ipad connected to the wireless - I've tried everything.  Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.  I've also tried Omantel who installed the wireless without any help.

Usually I suggest checking that your WiFi router firmware is up to date, but your router was just installed.  Still, it might be worth checking with the manufacturer's web site.

  • HT3669 Can MacBook Pro work with my HP Photosmart C4680 printer?

Will I ever be able to print in colour from my MacBook Pro using my HP Photosmart C4680 printer?
At last it solved my problem! When I first tried to print a document in colour all I produced with my new MacBook Pro was words and pictures in shades of grey! I downloaded software and updated drivers but still only shades of grey! I hadn't named my computer as HP Photosmart C4600 series from the drop down list. At first I saw only Apple printers listed and hadn't realised that I could scroll down below all of them and find the correct HP printer series listed. I thought because my computer had recognised the printer as HP Photosmart C4680 as soon as I connected it, showing that as soon as I pressed 'print' I didn't need to do any more than update the software. HP's help page got me there successfully in the end! I am soooooo pleased!

I noticed that you said you uninstalled the printer, but you didn't mention resetting the print system.  Resetting the print system will reset the drivers the Mac has installed and make them work like they should.  Give this a try and see if it gets the printer working like it should.  The document below will expalin more about doing this.
Basic Printer Troubleshooting Steps for Mac
If that doesn't help, see if you are using the AirPrint driver, or the printers driver.  By default 10.8 uses the AirPrint driver if the printer supports it, so I'm betting that's the driver you're using.  If it is, try using the driver for the printer itself.  To do this, access Print and Scan.  Click the + sign to add a new printer.  Select the printer from the list.  Click the dropdown next to Use and select the 7515's driver.  Let me know what happens.
