Photosmart C4780 won't work with new Time Capsule

All of our household machines (2 MacBooks and 1 iMac) worked just fine to print wirelessly to our HP Photosmart C4780 with our time capsule, 1TB. The hard drive on that failed, and we replaced it with a new 2 TB model. Everything runs fine off the new wireless network except for the printer. The printer is not hooked to the Time Capsule, and I don't want it to be as it's in an odd location. The printer worked just fine before, off by itself in a corner, not hooked to any computers or Time Capsule. We are running OS 10.8 on 2 machines and OS 10.6 on another. I've read every troubleshooting article and community post I can find, trying everything, and no luck. I've restarted everything. I've reset the printer network settings. I've deleted all printers from the computers, but in every case, the printer cannot be detected on the wireless network. I run the Print & Scan utility in System Preferences, and the printer is not located. I run the HP Setup Assistant, and it can't find the printer. If I hook it up via USB to any machine it works fine, and I even tried running the HP Setup Assistant to setup wireless via USB, and that can't find the wireless network either. The Time Capsule is on all default settings, exept I changed the name and  password. Neither has any special characters. I tried the suggestion of channel 11 and that didn't work. I printed out the wireless network test report, and the Network Name (SSID) Found diagnostic failed. I printed out the HP Network Configuration Page and it says network Offline, URL for embedded web server is http://0.0.0.0, and the 802.11 Wireless status is Disconnected. At the bottom where it lists the Number of 802.11 networks discovered, my home wireless network is at the top of the list. I know wireless is enabled on my printer because I've disabled and enabled it, plus the blue light is on above the wireless icon.
I cannot think of anything else to try and I'm about to launch the printer out the window! Please help in any way.

You're close. After opening Airport Utility/TimeCapsule/Edit, look at the bar at the TOP of the page for Airport Utility, not at the top of the inset box. That Base Station drop down has the WP Printer option. I'm using 6.3.2. Try that.

  • Photosmart C4780 won't work with my new router.

    Hi
I have been sent a new plusnet TG582n router after my old one broke and now my wireless printer won't work.
I have tried uninstalling the software and connecting the printer via USB to reinstall on my windows 7 netbook but it came up with drivers failed to install.
On my windows 8.1 laptop I have uninstalled and reinstalled and this was unable to complete. I have now done a restore to a previous setting on both of them so the software and drivers are still on.
I have tried connecting my printer via USB cable but this tries to install the software again.
If I go into devices my printer shows up with error and won't print.
After trying all this I have now done a restore on the printer to factore settings (also trying the uninstall and reinstall via USB after this) and it still won't work.
After doing a wireless test report it came up with my old ssid initially even after installing my new router which has a new ssid. After resetting the printer it now comes up with SigmaplusEOL1. It shows on the report that wirelss is on and working but ssid fail.
I don't know what else to try as I have spent hours tyring different things and done trouble shooting several times.
I have also been told by plusnet that t he routershould work for wireless n or wireless g.
    Please help!

    Hi Tazza,
Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand that your HP Photosmart C4780, will not work with your new router. I am happy to help you with this!  I believe these following guides should help:
The Printer is Not Found During Wireless Network Installation in Windows.
Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection.
Just to make sure the hardware is functional, can you make copies standalone with the printer? Or what happens when you print a status report? Video of Printing a status report.

  • WiFi no longer working with new Time Capsule-can you help please?

    Hi all,
Just received my new Time Capsule (TC). It was a little problematic setting up, but probably due to my now choosing to increase my security from WEP to WPA as the TC set-up assistant suggests. Since then, I have had numerous problems getting my other computers and now my iPhone to connect with WiFi.
The problem is that despite entering all the new settings and WPA passwords for my connection with the TC, the iPhone will either momentarily recognize and go to wifi or simply stay on Edge.
On the former, with wifi active, as soon as I go to iTunes, Safari or check email, it reverts to Edge. On the latter, despite resetting, entering password, or tapping Settings and selecting my wifi connection, it will NOT connect and stays on Edge.
(Now, I'm on Edge! I'm bummed that with new hardware I have new problems that didn't exist before!)
Can someone who had this same problem tell me how they resolved it.
Here's the one clue I have, but would rather not resort to: When I first set up the TC, I had it on WEP with a WDS Network, and everything was working great and FAST! Now that I have increased the security—I will be backing up 3 computers to the TC—my iPhone and other computers seem to have intermittent or no wifi connection as a result.)

    Irving Gonzales,
If your computers are 802.11N capable, you might want to try an advanced setup that might help your Time Machine speeds some. I have not personally tested it, so it is just a personal theory at this point.
First, in a mixed environment the 802.11N clients all get slowed down.
First, configure the TC for 802.11N only.
Second, connect the Airport Express via ethernet to the Time Capsule
Third, configure the Airport Express for bridged mode (doesn't give out IP addresses), and for its own wireless network with a different name than the Time Capsule.
Have any 802.11b/g clients like the iPhone join the Airport Express' network.
    Thank you,
    Nathan C.

  • Wifi Working With New Time Capsule But Can't See It To Configure Settings?

I had an airport extreme but recenlty purchased an airport time capsule. When I initially plugged it in, by airport utlity saw it and it asked me to set up a password. But then I noticed there was no internet signal getting to the time capsule. We wound up replacing the DSL Router and now the internet is up and running. But now when I open the airport icon, the time capsule doesn't even show up. When I open the airport utility through finder it shows the time capsule but blocks me from accessing anything. So I can't go into any set up configuration for changing passwords, setting up guest network or setting up the back up to the time capsule. I don't see any downloads for a new utility for the time capsule, so I'm assuming it's the same as for the airport extreme? What do I need to do in order to be able access the configuration areas?

Reboot the TC.. it is hard for poor OSX to find it.
    No luck.
Just press reset and start again.
Do a new clean setup.. please use all SMB names this time, short, no spaces and pure alphaumeric.
Ensure ipv6 is set to link-local on both the wireless and ethernet if you use it. Wireless is essential even if you use ethernet you cannot do setups without wireless.
    Still got trouble??
What is the OS on the computer and therefore version of the airport utility.. you will have huge problems with Mavericks.. as that is its nature.

Elements 13 won't work with new camera, it won't update to raw 8.7.1. I have downloaded the patch, it is installed but the old version is this there in elements. Thanks, esther

OK I think the problem is probably related to the platform swap and you may need your account re-set. Only Adobe staff can do that.  You need to contact Adobe directly using the link below. Use the dropdown menu for boxes (1) & (2) to scroll down the list and choose:
    1. Adobe Photoshop Elements
    2. Adobe ID, and signing-in
    3. Click on the blue button: Still need help? Contact us – then click the area marked chat 24/7, then click “start chat ”
It’s usually possible to start a live chat, if an Adobe agent is free, and often to get the problem fixed right away. Have your serial number and previous case number available. The agent can directly troubleshoot your system if you agree to activate the Adobe Connect add-on.

  • How do I set up OpenDNS to work with my Time Capsule running 7.7.3 in Bridge Mode?

How do I set up OpenDNS to work with my Time Capsule running 7.7.3 in Bridge Mode?

Set up your "main" router to use the OpenDNS servers, and the Time Capsule will automatically pick up those settings. No configuration is needed on the Time Capsule.

  • TS1253 I have a printer epson TX210, but it doesn't work with my time-capsule. What need to do?

I have a printer epson TX210, but it doesn't work with my time-capsule. What need to do?

    What have you tried?
You are going to get nowhere quick with the 6.1 utility in Mountain Lion if this is the only OS you have available.
Look up how to install 5.6 utility under ML. At least then you can see printers. That is assuming you are trying to use USB.
Has this worked ever on Mountain Lion? Did you download the drivers for that printer for ML?
Plug it into a computer directly.. does it work? If it doesn't work locally it sure will not work via the network.

  • Problem with new Time Capsule w/ 7.5 Firmware Slow Speeds on 802.11b/g

I purchased a new 1TB Time Capsule with v. 7.5 Firmware last week. This Time Capsule is replacing a first gen 500GB TC with Firmware v. 7.4.2. I have 2 Macbook Pros connecting to the new Time Capsule via 802.11n at 5Ghz and 2 iPhones and 1 first gen Mac Pro connecting to it via 802.11b/g at 2.4Ghz. The Macbook Pros connecting at 5Ghz move data fine. The connection is very fast. Speedtest.net average about 20Mbps down and 2Mbps up. The devices connecting on the 2.4Ghz radio are slow as molasses. They test at less than 30k down and 30k up. Beyond that they have trouble moving data around the LAN as well. There are no sources of major interference near the TC. In fact the TC is in the same location as the old unit which was also running at 2.4Ghz with no problems. I contacted Apple tech support and then went to a local Apple store for an exchange. They gave me another new TC but the problem persists with the new units as well. This evening I took the new Time Capsule into the basement and isolated from any kind of interference with no success. I plugged in the old TC and the 802.11g devices were back up to speed.
Has anyone had any similar issues with the new AE or Time Capsule? I'm sure it's not unheard of to get two defective units but it's not likely. So I am thinking there may be an issue with the new firmware. I tried to downgrade to 7.4.2 but the new units require 7.5. Any suggestions? All network settings are the same as they were with the previous Time Capsule. The only thing that's changed is that both the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz radios are active.

    Hi there,
got some problems with Time Capsule and 7.5 Firmware as well. Since it is my first device, I have no experience with older firmwares or models though.
It is impossible to connect to the 5GHz network. Neither when I have 5GHz and 2.4Ghz in one network or when I set a separate network for the 5GHz.
I always get a timeout message, I also tried deactivating the guest network and I also tried without any password, just would not connect to the 5GHz. By the way, I am sitting 50cm away from the TC and of course, I do have a MacBook Pro that supports 802.11n standard, a brand new MacBook Pro 13.
So, any ideas? I'm going to call Apple on Monday, can't check if it's the notebook, cause I do not have a second device to test ist. My iPhone works fine (802.11g), the 2.4Ghz also works fine with rates around 130-145 usually when close to the TC.
I also noticed that my MacBook Pro won't connect to the 802.11n when compatibility with 802.11b/g is activated. Then it runs with 802.11g instead....
pretty annoying, thought this would work right away?!

  • DHCP problem with new Time Capsule

Just bought a new time capsule, and cannot get it to work.
I previously have a Belkin router/wireless that works great with my cable modem.
I plugged in my new Time Capsule into my cable modem, and it does not seem to get an IP address from the cable modem. I have it configured to use DHCP as I did with my old Belkin.
I can get the TC to work in bridge mode with my old Belkin.
I've tried resetting the cable modem (both powering off and hitting the reset button).
I've updated the firmware on the TC.
I've tried just the TC and the cable modem, no difference.
I haven't tried to configure things manually, without DHCP since I'm not sure how to configure.
    Thoughts? Help?

I also have a belkin and a time capsule, ive managed to get it to work in bridge mode. All you have to do is go into airport utility and find your time capsule, then you click on 'manual setup' and from there click on the internet tab and then at the bottom there should be a dropdown box where you can select 'bridge mode'. Apply the changes, your time capsule will restart, and thats it. You might have to activate bridge mode on your belkin, that easy though.Just type in its IP address into your browser while your connected to it wirelessly to acces its settings (im sure you probably knew that!) and allong the side there will be a 'wireless bridge' button or similar, simply click on that and turn it on.
Its best to let your belkin handle dhcp and nat, i tried fruitlessly for weeks trying to let the time capsule handle this, but i was only bombarded with double nat errors and matching ip addresses ending up in a factory reset of both the TC and the Belkin!
    Hope this helped =]

  • Time machine not connecting with new time capsule

Will someone please help? I have just recently joined the MAC family and purchased a new Macbook along with a new time capsule. It took unbelievably long to get things running (ie wireless access with 2 other PC based desktops and a PC laptop and shared network printing with an USB connected printer to the time capsule)- I thought macs were supposed to be easy?! Anyways, the only thing that I cannot figure out is how to properly set up time machine. I follow the instructions and turn time machine on, choose my backup disc (which is the time capsule), but when I click "use for backup", I keep getting the "connection failed- server may not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name or IP address and your network connection and try again" What am I supposed to do now? What is there to check when all of the other computers are able to access the internet (including the Macbook) and wirelessly print. The stupid timecapsule router function is working but the backup portion of it is not???!!!! Please help someone who is about to give the mac and the time capsule to the first person walking down the street - it has been a frustrating 2 days.

First, restart the Time Capsule by disconnecting the power adapter and reconnecting it. If other devices on the network can see it, you can skip this step.
    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Network
Click the lock icon in the lower left corner of the window and authenticate to unlock the settings, if necessary. Click the Advanced button, then select the TCP/IP tab in the sheet that drops down. Click
              Renew DHCP lease.
    Try again to back up.
If you still can't, open the Time Machine preference pane and delete the TC from the list of backup destinations. You may have to unlock the settings by clicking the lock icon in order to do this. Then add it back.

  • Setting up Air play with new time capsule and newer airport express?

I just recently purchased a new time capsule, and I'd like to use my current generation airport express to stream music from my apple devices. I just was wondering what I had to do in airport utility to set this up?  I was also wondering how to transition the network over from the old express to the new time capsule as far  software settings go. I really appreciate the help and assistance. Thanks folks. I'm really looking forward to setting up the network for our new iMac.

    Your setup is very easy..
This is how I would do it.
Remove the express from the network.. ie just unplug it but do not change anything in it. Keep the configuration as is until the TC is working.
Power off the cable modem.. this is requirement.. at least 20min is usually needed, dependining on your ISP.
Go into the airport utility and setup the TC as router for your network .. it is a simple setup.. but I would do as stated.. all short names, no spaces pure alphanumeric rather than accept Apple's names. That is for TC and wireless.
After 20min power up the cable modem.  Once it is running and you have internet access. you can proceed to setup the express to do the airplay. If the internet still doesn't work, power off the cable modem overnight..
Do not lose that express setup so if you absolutely have to, you can at any time substitute it back and have internet again.
So everything is working properly TC in place as full router.. now hard reset the express.. and simply use the airport utility to put it in extend wireless .. or plug in by ethernet if you are going to hard wire it.
The extend wireless setup is all done straight from the existing setup.
Now you can plug your express audio port into your speaker.. and setup the airplay via the itunes.
I will get Bob to give you his way of doing it.. There is no one RIGHT way .. but he can give you more info if you want a particular method.

  • Weird PPPoE problem with new Time Capsule

OK, so this is a long and tedious saga, but I don't know what details are important and what are irrelevant.
I had an old AirPort Extreme which was giving me problems. I could connect to the internet fine when I connected my MacBook directly to the DSL modem via the Ethernet cable, but when the same cable was plugged into my old AirPort it thought that there was no Ethernet cable connected to the WAN port. The AirPort was over five years old, so I figured that it was just past its time, and I kinda wanted a Time Capsule anyway for wireless backup, so I went to the Apple Store and bought one today.
I just tried to set it up, and AirPort Utility is telling me, "This Apple wireless device is set up to connect to the Internet using PPPoE but no PPPoE server can be found. Make sure your Internet service provider requires that you use PPPoE, and make sure that the modem is turned on and connected to this Apple wireless device's WAN port and try again. If you still can't connect to the server, contact your service provider."
Well, I did contact my ISP (AT&T Yahoo!), and they said that if I can connect directly via Ethernet, the problem has to be with the Time Capsule or its settings, so they can't help me. I've tried power cycling the DSL modem and Time Capsule, and I keep getting the same problem. Does anyone have a clue what might be going on? (I'll probably call AppleCare when they're open, but I thought someone here might be able to shed some light on the situation.)
    Thanks!

I had a similar problem (to name one) and couldn't resolve it... I packed it back up and am returning it tomorrow.
All these people have all these solutions but none of them should have to do any of it! That is the biggest problem I have with the TC. They give you a small little guide to set everything up and it doesn't deal with any of this. With networks and computers as they are right now.... you should not have to do any of this at all. You should be able to plug it in, answer a few easy to answer questions like it does ask and then it should configure itself just as any other network device I have purchased in the last 2 years. Even my PS3 I bought last week did it by itself by only asking a few questions! (Same as my macbook... so you know they can do it)
Now.. say you do get it all set up and it works great... hope you don't have kids that like to play their XBox 360 online because guess what.... it isn't compatible with the TC wireless!!! If you want to use your PS3.... you have to buy more stuff.
No.... do yourself a favor... go buy the D-Link DIR-655 that has a USB storage link... hook it up and be in business in 10 minutes. You can also get a 1TB WD external hard drive for $209.00 and hook it up direct to your mac and use time machine and transfer files faster than a mule walking up hill.

  • Older airport extreme base station as a network extender with new time capsule

I just bought a new time capsule (802.11ac). Can my older airport extreme base station (model A1143) be used as a network extender with it?

    Yes, although it maybe disappointing..
There are two kinds of extending.. wireless repeater type which is poorest as it has to transfer all packets in two steps instead of one.. hence will halve the speed.
Or using ethernet to the old extreme and set it in bridge.. You can then setup roaming network... this is much better.. but getting ethernet to the right place could be messy or expensive or both.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4260
wireless extend doco.. mind all of this is out of date.. the basics are correct.. the methods via the airport utility may be obsolete.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4145
    Documentation has rather lagged lately.

  • 1st Gen iPod Mini won't work with new version iTrip

    Hello all,
I cannot get my new iTrip (which connects to the bottom of the iPod) to work with my girlfriends iPod mini 1st generation. The new iTrip works fine on my video iPod but not on her mini.
We had the original iTrip and that worked fine but nothing is happening at all when the music is playing and the iTrip is connected. Anything i need to do or install to get this working? I have tried to search the discussions but failed to find a similar problem.
Any help or info will be much appreciated.
    Many thanks.

Ah, i seemed to have fixed it! Well i've been trying for a few weeks now to sort this out and as soon as i put up a post it works. Oh well at least its working now. It seems like that the iPod needs to be playing BEFORE the iTrip is plugged in the turn it on.
    I'll get me coat...

  • Iphoto won't work with new osx

how do I upgrade iPhoto so it works with osx

This screenshot shows which previous versions of iPhoto are compatible with Mavericks.  It also indicates which versions qualify for a free upgrade to iPhoto 9.5.1 and which require a purchase:
Note 1:  every day more users are reporting problems with iPhoto 8.1.2 so I've included it in the non compatible category.
Note 2:  If your previous version of iPhoto was iPhoto 7 (08) or earlier you'll need to download and run the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 application on the library before opening it with iPhoto 9.5.1.
