Photosmart C6380 - Windows 8.1 installation failure

I have a new PC with Windows 8.1 and I've tried numerous times to install the drivers via the HP site. The driver downloads, starts the install process and then comes up with a message "the system cannot find the file specified" and shuts down. What can I do?

Hello Druyan and Tsal, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are running into installation issues.  I would like to try and help.
I would suggest Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once it is uninstalled, I would suggest putting your system into clean boot mode within the Microsoft configuration.  You can do so by following this document: How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Once the computer is in clean boot mode, I would suggest reinstalling the HP Photosmart C6300/6324 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Windows 7, air installation failure.

I am continually having problems with the installation of Adobe AIR. As far as I know the only application I use AIR with is BBC iPlayer which I like to use extensively however at the moment I am unable to do so.
The following is my system settings:
    Windows Unltimate 7
    HP Pavillion
    Processor - AMD Turion 64 x 2
    4 GB RAM
    32 bit OS.
    A couple of weeks ago the seystem had problems downloading the upgrade to Flash Player. To enable that to happen I was forced to remove AIR and BBC iPlayer which I have been unable to install since. No matter what variant of download and install I follow;
    1) direct from BBC, as joint download,
    2) download AIR alone and then download BBC iPlayer
    3) download AIR alone, followed by alternative application
    the outcome is the same.
The install log found at C:\Users\name\appdata\local\adoe\air\logs indicates a successful install but as soon as I attempt to install an Air application or opne one - BBC iplayer - that is resident on the PC I get the following repeated pop-up error message:
'something went wrongh trying to install this application. Please install the latest version of Adobe AIR from http://www.adobe.com/gp/getair. and try again.
I have done so repeatedly - possibly 20 times, between each attempt I have removed the applications by uninstallting them as per the guidnace offered. I have even run clean up to the registry using Reg Cure and Reg Booster. I have switched off my firewall and virus checkers but still no successful install,
Can anyone help? The adobe support doesn't give any advice that I have followed that results in any better outcome. This is very frustrating and annoying.
    Thanks in advance.
    Mike

By any chance, did you recently turned off User Account Control (UAC) operating system feature?  If so, from Control Panel, Open UAC and enable/turn on. A reboot maybe required.  Retry installation again.

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
Sorry to hear that you are getting errors when attempting to install the HP Software and Drivers for your printer.
Please remove any cables that you have connected to the printer with the exception of the power cable. Please make sure you have the power cable connected direct to a wall outlet and NOT a power bar/strip. Here is a document that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.  Note that the printer in the document is a LaserJet printer and this is only used as an example and that the document is meant for HP products in general.
Please remove the Printer from the computer with the use of the uninstall utility that can be located in the All Programs menu in the HP folder under the model of your printer.
Please click on the following link to download and install the printers HP Photosmart C6300/6324 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver. Please save the file to your desktop so that it creates it's own Icon.
Once the download is complete, double click the Icon and follow the instructions. Please do NOT connect any cables to the printer until the installation prompts you to do so.
If you have any other questions  or any concerns, please feel free to write me back.

  • Installing HP Solution Center for HP Photosmart C6380 in Windows 7

Installing HP Solution Center for HP Photosmart C6380 in Windows 7
After this scanner/printer has loaded down the Driver - Product Installation Service the next step of downloading software is interrupted by the notice/instruction "The system cannot find the file specified" identified as
    C:\Users\Owner\Appdata\Local\Temp\7zS2780\Setup\.\Setup\blocksysuserins...
Then the  Driver - Product Installation Service is once again downloaded and when that issue is successfully completed, then, once again, the next download is interrupted by
the notice/instruction "The system cannot find the file specified" identified as
    C:\Users\Owner\Appdata\Local\Temp\7zS2780\Setup\.\Setup\blocksysuserins...
and the process continues in an infinite loop.
That means that my HP Photosmart C6380 in Windows 7 will be useless during an infinite time.

    Hi,
Follow the steps below and check if that resolve the issue:
    1. Open Mcafee software, from the Virus and Spyware Protection section click on Schedule and run scans. Click on Real time scanning and then on Turn Off. select till I restart the PC and confirm by clicking the Turn Off button.
Now try reinstalling the HP Software and check if the installation goes as expected.
If the issue persists continue following the next steps below:
    2. Open the run dialog by clicking both the Windows key and the R key on your keyboard. Type %windir% and click on OK.
    3. Type hpoins*.dat into the top search bar, if there are any results rename the extention into old instead of dat. (e.g. hpoins1.old)
    4. Type hpwins*.dat into the top search bar, if there are any results rename the extention into old instead of dat. (e.g. hpwins1.old)
    5. Launch the Run dialog by clicking both the Windows key and the R key on your keyboard. Type MSIEXEC /UNREGISTER into the Run dialog and click on OK.
    6. Launch the Run dialog by clicking both the Windows key and the R key on your keyboard. Type MSIEXEC /REGSERVER into the Run dialog and click on OK.
    7. Run the installation file and check for any difference.

  • Photosmart c6380 and windows 7

I am trying to install my HP Photosmart c6380 onto my compaq presario cq60-215dx laptop wirelessly and it has been giving me problems after problems.  First time installed it worked perfectly then we moved and it has never worked since.  I have tried uninstalling the program and reinstalling it.  However via disc or online it kept telling me that a driver was not available.  Finally it was uninstalled and I just now tried reinstalling it and it says "HP Installer Network UI Plug-In has stopped working" when I try to install it over the network.  My husband and I just received this printer not even 2 months ago, and have only used it a couple of times before we moved.  And now we can't even use it.  Please let me know what I need to do to install it on my laptop wirelessly and his (he has the same laptop as I with Windows 7)  I went into the control panel and unenabled internet explorer because I read somewhere that that might be the problem, it did not have the option to uninstall the program so I went and turned it off.  Any help would be awesome, thanks!

the problem here is your using windows 7..
there is no available driver for the windows 7 OS.. it may have work for the first time but windows 7 will update once in a while...
that why you were not able to use it properly..
the best thing you can do is use the generic driver for all hp printer which is Deskjet 990c..
Just wait until windows 7 drivers are available for download..

  • Failed to Install The New Preview Build. Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80246007: FBL_AWESOME1501 9926 Professional.

    Hello,
I'm having issues upgrading my Windows 10 Technical Preview installation build 9879 to a newer build that's become available late January 23rd.
I am installing the new upgrade in a Hyper-V virtual machine and get the following error:
Failed to install the new preview build, please try again later. 0x80246007
    What could be the problem?
Previously I've had messages that Windows cannot be upgraded on a computer with less than 2 Gbyte of RAM. That's a Hyper-V VM with dynamic memory and I was highly surprised to see this error; never had this before. Had to set 2048 Mbytes as a minimum memory
for this VM. Now that I have this 80246007 error code.
When looking up System log, the following error messages are listed multiple times:
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80246007: FBL_AWESOME1501 9926 Professional.
The errors are returned for the Event ID 20 by WindowsUpdateClient
in task category Windows Update Agent..
    I reviewed the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\Applicability
registry key as suggested in Windows
Insider stuck on build 9841 - "No new preview build was found", and here is what it shows:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\Applicability]
    "BranchName"="fbl_awesome1501"
    "ThresholdRiskLevel"="low"
    "ThresholdOptedin"=dword:00000001
Note, when attempting to install the downloaded update from a native boot, installation starts with no errors.
However, since setup is not supported for a natively booted VHD files, it does not proceed further showing a message that installation on virtual drives is not supported.
Looks like Setup is having problems installing in a Hyper-V virtual machine.
Possibly, some ESD files got corrupted during downloading? Is it possible to remove them and re-download missing files? (I, however, noticed that Windows seems to re-download upgrade files after you restart 9879 and attempt to check for a new build.
Any clue why installing under VM causes 9926 to fail?
    Thank you in advance.
Well this is the world we live in And these are the hands we're given...

    Hi,
According to the error message, this problem seems like update package installation failed during system upgrade.
You can try to remove ESD file which locate at boot of C drive and upgrade the system again for test.
On the other hand, make sure the system 9879 installed all Windows pushed updates before system upgrade.

  • HP Photosmart C6380 not scanning or photo printing with Windows 8

Just purchased HP M6/1125DX/15j with Windows 8. My current HP printer is an HP Photosmart C6380 All In One.  The printer does work but the photo part and scanning icons no longer appear that were on my desktop before. I tried to download the whole program that said would update my printer but after 6 tries at an hour each, at the end it just said my download was cancelled. Is there any chance my printer will be supported by Windows 8 and how do I do that if I can't download.  Or am I stuck buying a new printer? Thanks
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
The C6380 is supported in Windows 8 and has a Full Solution Download.  I would try using the Print Install Wizard to help download and install the drivers.

  • Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x800F0922

    Hi folks,
I have a HP Elitebook Folio 9470p.  It came with Windows 8, and I installed it on my corporate domain.  I was trying to do some Windows updates so  I could upgrade it to Windows 8.1, but it fails installing the updates, whether or not I try
to install them one at a time or all of them.  It has about 18 updates it needs from security updates to a .net framework update.  I run Symantec EP, and disabled it, checked for driver updates for things like display and networking and they are
    all up to date.
I'm at a loss as to what to do.  It gives this error in the event log for each file, Event ID 20.
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x800F0922: Security Update for Windows 8 for x64-based Systems (KB2862152).
This is the example for KB2862152, but it gives the same error for every one.  I've tried to auto fix for Windows update issues and it fixed a couple of the issues, but not all of them, and provides no other help.
I also deleted folders and files from the SoftwareDistribution folder as well, to no avail.  Any ideas what I can do to get whatever updates it needs, so I can fully patch it, and upgrade it to Win 8.1?
    Thanks for any help!

Hi MM. Mr Kywildcat and Vegan Fan,
GOOD NEW ! At this time, my issue is solved. The only black side is "how ?" : I hope that we will get a response some day ; however, and for in information  pnly - hoping this could help someone - I resume some actions which allowed this the happy end
    1) about installing 8.1 : I wanted to be sure that gain/pain ratio was positive, and that upgrading from a (potentially) damaged system would'nt produce something looking like a new Win 8.1, but difficult to maintain and keeping some negative potentialities.
    2) I was influenced by the fact that this
0x800F0922  error acted as "a serial killerror", whose root cause could be a unique update error at reboot time concerning several (>20) packages, so I decided to test some manual upgrades.
    3)   Manual update (i.e. manual download and maunching of .msu packages) of the 2 following packages
(whose update previously failed on a Windows Update) was successful : .NET Framework version 3.5 for  x64 (KB2898866) and Camera Codec Pack Windows 8 for x64 (KB2899190)
    4) So I decided to try Windows Update on a selection of packages, first : those concerning .Net Framework 3.5 and 4.5 (that is: KB2898866, 2901120, 2898865) --> Successful !
    5) finally, I selected almost all other packages, with some exceptions wich I (think to) have no need for : KB2871690, 2904659, 2843630. To be complete, here is the list of pakages updated one time at all :
    KB 2892074, 2893294, 2893984, 2909210, 2912390, 2916036, 2889784,2903938, 2911101, 2913152, 2917499
    --> always succesful.
I am not a specialist, but I uess that this 0x800F0922 error hides another problem which is globally "H-RESULTED"
to all updates pending in one update operation with reboot. This could be assumed from this CBS.log exterped from my last wrong attempts, where root cause seems not to be
    0x800f0922, but 0x80004003 :
2014-02-15 21:29:13, Info                  CBS    Could not get active session for current session file logging [HRESULT = 0x80004003 - E_POINTER]
2014-02-15 21:29:13, Info                  CBS    Not able to add pending.xml.bad to Windows Error Report. [HRESULT = 0x80070002 - ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND]
2014-02-15 21:29:18, Error  CBS    Startup: Failed to process advanced operation queue, startupPhase: 0.  A rollback transaction will be created. [HRESULT = 0x800f0922 - CBS_E_INSTALLERS_FAILED]
Anyway, thanks to you who spent some of your time to describe issues and search/ suggest solutions ; I will upgrade my system to 8.1 anyway, some of this day, when I am sure that my configuration does not hides some other problem. I thing that potential
issue remains until maybe a new KB corrects it, wrong :-) ?
And I hope that you - Mr Kywildcat - can upgrade your system on "current levels" trying similar attempts.

  • Windows 8 installation failure with German language pack

    Hi,
I have a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E330 with Windows 8. We just received it over Xmas - nice product. Just one Thing so far: I can't get the German language pack installed. Language, Keyboard layout and other regional Settings are set to German. After downloading the German language pack through Language->German->options->Download and Install Language pack (German Language Pack - Windows 8 for x64-based Systems - (KB2607607) [de-DE_LP])I always run into the following error during the Installation (download seems to be fine, error happens after about 2/3 of the Installation - if you believe the Progress bar). From the Event Viewer:
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070002: German Language Pack - Windows 8 for x64-based Systems - (KB2607607) [de-DE_LP].
I already tried quite some stuff without success: no pending Upgrades, several reboots, switching off Firewall/anti-Virus, selective reboot just with Winodws Services and Startup stuff, ... No success.
Does anybody have seen a similar Problem? Anybody with a solution to get the German language pack finally installed?
Thanks in advance for your Support,

  • Photosmart C6380 not recognized on network by Windows 7

Photosmart C6380 worked great on Windows XP computer. It could be accessed through the network from several XP and VISTA computers. Installed a Windows 7 64 bit computer. It could not print to the networked printer on an XP computer. Installed the printer on the Windows 7 64bit computer and could print to it from the Windows 7 computer it was attached to. Could not print to it from the XP computers. Have downloaded latest HP drivers for Windows 7.  I have seen a number of people complaining about the same problem in Microsoft forums. They have not been able to solve the problem. I downloaded an HP network test program to the XP computer and it does not see the HP printer on the Windows 7 computer. XP OS does see the printer and adds it but it doesn't print.

There is a detailed solution to this problem found on How to Geek at the following link:

This covers both file sharing and print sharing.

  • Windows 7 installation failure - Partition removal failure

    Having an issue...
Have newish 27inch with latest SL build. Bootcamp 3.02. Tried to install Windows 7 (64 bit, which is probably the mistake). Made it most of the way through the installation process, then the screen started to hang for while... had no choice, had to reboot. Long story short, I eventually had to restart (hold option) to boot into OS, and then remove the partition. Problem is, even after I removed the partition from bootcamp, whenever I restart my machine, if I don't hold down option, it goes to a black screen looking for a bootable disk. It thinks it's still trying to boot to windows, even though the partition has been removed. Aside from blasting the OS away, any work arounds??
    thanks much

Thanks for the info - forgot to check the start-up preferences...
Been reading a bunch of notes on the Window's 7 installation, more workarounds then expected but it seems manageable. After getting the partition setup, rebooting, and getting into the windows installation setup, the partition that I setup was marked as 'not formatted properly' (as mentioned in the bootcamp installation guide). However, the "next" button was grayed out, not allowing me to continue. So, I tried formatting the partition from within the widows setup and everything seemed to work until the second reboot (post installation).
I'll go back and research more - thanks for your quick and helpful answer.

    HP PHotosmart C8180   Windows 7 64 bit       Serial Number {Removed for privacy}
My Photosmart printer began giving me error codes...ink system failure, B83024C6, and many others....flashing and blinking lights constantly.  We tried all the resets, called HP and they said they did not have a fix for this so we were not going to pay the tech fee for nothing.  I unplugged the printer and now it says...connect and install software.
PLEASE HELP!  This is the most frustrating printer and everyone seems to have the same complaint.  This was an expensive printer and Hp should come up with a solution.
I would appreciate any help you could give me....
We connect with aUSB cable.  We also have a wireless N system but the printer is not used on that system.
Profeciency level of me is average
My husband and I have read the forum for some time regarding problems with the C8180 and many have given up hope of fixing the flashing led light problem.  Our C8180 now has other problems and we are so frustrated that we are making one last attempt to get this working.  We purchased this high end printer in 2009 and for a year it worked just fine...then the problems started.
We have made no changes to the printer or the computer.  All software upgrades to the printer came from H.P.
    HELP....
    Claire

Well, as I expected.  Jumped through all the hoops to ask the right questions on EXPERT DAY, and none of your 300 EXPERTS  found it possible to answer the C8180 printer questions.  Why, because this piece of junk cannot be fixed!
    Thanks for nothing.

  • Windows 8.1 Update Failure : We couldn't complete the updates, Undoing changes

Yesterday I built my first computer and I installed Windows 8.1 on it, everything was running perfectly fine until today. This morning I had an update notification and I installed it, about half way through the update an error occurred and it said it couldn't
complete the update and it was undoing the changes. I left it on that screen for about an hour and nothing happened. I tried finding what the update was, so I went to recently installed updates, and there was about 40 of them from just today. Whenever I tried
to uninstall any of the updates, it said error, preventing me from deleting any of the updates. I was wondering if anyone could help me try to uninstall/re-install this update.

    Hi Kmanxx,
The update failure might be caused by a variety of reasons such as connection issues, incomplete Components and firewall. For troubleshooting, specific error code of the failure update will be helpful.
You also could find installation failure events and error code in log files, such as WindowsUpdate.log (C:\Windows\ WindowsUpdate.log) and CBS.log(C:\windows\logs\cbs\cbs.log). Here you first want to search for “error” in your logs. This will search for
Error entries. Focus on the day the installation attempt occurred. Refer to your time line of update log, find what error happened. Of course you could post your log content and we’d like to give it a look.
How to collect the specific error code of failure update:
We can do this by viewing your update history.
    1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen (or, if you're using a mouse, pointing to the lower-right corner of the screen and moving the mouse pointer up), and tap or click Settings.
    2. Tap or click Change PC settings, and then Update and recovery.
    3. Tap or click View your update history.
    View failed update error code.
