Photosmart C7280 wont connect wirelessly

Upgraded home wireless to the new Wide Open West Ultra TV which uses an Arris wireless modem.  Wireless moden works great for my laptops and tablets in my house but I cannot connect the Photosmart printer wirelessly.  I contacted Wide Open West and confirmed all settings and passwords on their end.  Printer does no register any SSID names and is about 2 feet away from the modem.
I used the wireless setup wizard and entered correct SSID and WPA password but still wont connect.  Need help and I am not very computer savy

Disable and turn off all security on the router temporarily and try to connect to your SSID unsecured.  If successful go back and turn on WPA2-AES security and try to connect now.

    Hello
I have the C7280 which works perfect via USB.  I want to change to print Wireless.
I went through the Wireless Setup & it is not seeing my Verizon Wireless Router (MI424WR-GEN3I)
Here are some of things I checked/Troubleshooted
    - Radio is On
    - I see blue light in front by Wireless
    - I Reset the Printer (# + 3)
    - I printed the Wireless Network Test and it says
       Radio On - PASS
       Radio Working - PASS
Network Name SSID Found - FAIL
    - I reset the Router to factory setting & retried
    - I got rid of WEP key in Router
    - I put Firewall settings to lowest possible
    - Rebooted Printer
    - Rebooted Computer
    - Under Display Wireless Settings, for IP Address it says - NO LINK
I am stummped, still not detecting.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you
    Jeff

    Hi Jeff,
I understand you've been having issues getting your Photosmart C7280 to connect with your wireless router. I will certainly do my best to help you with this.
I'm going to have a further look into this for you Jeff as you've certainly tried quite a few steps already. I am curious however though, does your printer see any networks when you run the Wireless Setup Wizard (such as a neighbors network)?
Please let me know that piece of information and I will continue to look into this for you, thanks!

  • Hp prnter photosmart b210 wont connect properly either wirelessly and usb

    Hi
    I am  frustrated beyond measure.
This printer never worked properly it has always lost connection with the wireless network and to print i had to go to the printer and reconnect manually to the wireless  network.
lately to avoid such torment i decided to connect it to my computer via usb cable (computer acer aspire 5600u OS Windows 8)
it all worked fine the first two days, only a message pronpted me to chose between the wireless connection or the usb. i would click on the desktop b2190 icon and an interface would come up to allow me to print scan etc...
now the problem is , when  click the icon a windows come up ( printer setup and software) basically asking me one of the following options: Connect a new printer, convert a usb connected printer to wireless, reconfigure wireless settings, add more software.
If i try to install a new printer via usb it doesnt find the connected printer as if it wasnt yet connected asks me to connect the usb cable. also tried other options but nothing works.
i cant access the interface that allowed me to use the printer, i tried to click various exe in the hp folders with no avail.
i used hp print and scan doctor, it tells me thre is no problem.
I am able to scan from the printer to the pc wich means that the printer is connected and works. but cant access the interface.
    can anyone help? thanks

If that does not resolve the issue, post back and let me know if there are any symbols other than green check marks and what they are next to of course. The wrench is not always easy to spot as the wrench and the check mart are in the green circle.
If you see only green check marks (), the tool did not find any problems.
If you see green wrenches (), the utility identified an issue and corrected it automatically.
If you see yellow exclamation points (), the test failed and required user action, but the step was skipped.
If you see a red X (), follow the on-screen instructions to resolve the issue.

  • Wont connect wireless

My photosmart 7520 printer was installed, connected, and working fine for a couple of weeks to my computer by wireless, peer to peer (no network, just computer and printer). The computer is connected to internet via wired ethernet dsl router.  Then all of a sudden gave an error in printing and would not print.  As I troubleshooted, the printer was listed as offline on the computer.  On the printer it said it was not connected to a network. I have looked everywhere online and done many troubleshooting fixes, including unistalling the printer and reinstalling.  At this point I couldn't even get the computer to recognize that there was a printer to be found.  I manually found it and added it using the port number.  When trying to install the software and printer using the disk, it stops at trying to find and connect the printer.  The software keeps wanting me to use the wireless wizard on the printer and enter the SSID and password.  When I click on the button on the computer to show me this info, it says unable to retrieve. Then I can't go any farther.  Why is the computer and the printer not detecting each other?  I shouldnt have to go through all setup and adding and network configs.

now it won't make a copy.  The color ink levels show full, the individual black shows about half.  I haven't used it very much.  I have tried to make color and black copies, but it only acts like it is printing and shoots out a blank page.

Hi. I just got a new toshiba laptop and upgraded to windows 7. But now I can not connect to my WRT54G wirelessly. It works fine if you use an ethernet cord. Does anybody know how to solve this?  Any help would be great.

Check your wireless security settings in the router and make sure they are the same for your laptop settings.
Disable IPv6 on the Win 7 computer under LAN properties for all adapters both wired and wireless.  Disable UPnP in the router.  Reboot computers and try again.

I am replacing a laptop with xp with a laptop with Windows 7.  Cannot get my HP Photosmart C7280 to print wirelessly from the new laptop Windows 7.  The printer disk says it is not supported by Windows 7 - what do I do?

That's because there are no Windows 7 drivers on your disc.  It was likely printed before Win7 was released.

  • Photosmart C7280 All-In-One Wireless Not working

My wireless printing was working fine with my Photosmart C7280 for about at least a year or more and now recently the wireless side stopped working. My Apple devices (both iPad and Macbook) stopped recognizing my printer. Even when I tried to add via IP address, it would not take.
My printer is working fine when hard wired thru both my PC and Macbook via USB.
I tried resetting my printer network settings by restoring to Network Defaults and adding back in my SSID and Password. It shows it is connected. But when I run a Wireless Network Test Page from within the printer settings, it shows everything passed and signal strength is excellent. However, the last diagnosis in the summary shows "No" to "Other networks detected matching your network name (SSID)"  so I am wondering if my printer is actually connecting properly to my network? Since I have other wireless devices connected to the same SSID.
I turned both the printer and other devices off and then on to reboot. I turned the wireless radio within the printer settings off and on again.
Another thing I'd like to mention is that before I deleted the printers in my Apple devices, they still showed my Photosmart 7200 series, but stated they were inactive.
Also when I was able to get into my Verizon FIOS Broadband Router Management software thru my browser, it showed all my wireless devices, but it also showed my Photosmart as being inactive wirelessly, where the other devices that were turned on at the time were showing connected.
I am wondering if it may have been a recent Apple update that may have caused this problem? However the Verizon Fios also showed the printer as being inactive so I am guessing not?
I have been working on this issue for days and spent a ton of time thus far, so any suggestions to resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.
I am about mid-level in technical understanding. So please spell out answers to any resolution steps very simply in your reply.

Honestly, ISP-issued routers are very problematic.  Restart the Westell by pulling its power cord momentarily just before trying to connect the printer.

  • C7280 All-in-One connected wirelessly to a modem-router needs a password when powered-up.

Do you have any examples of wirelessly connecting an HP Photosmart C7280-All-in-One to a network run by a NetComm NB6Plus4W modem-router? The modem-router also attaches a Windows XP desktop computer using an ethernet cable and a Windows XP laptop computer wirelessly using the default SSID (wireless) and password (a1b2c3d4e5).
The wireless connection between the modem-router and the laptop comes up automatically when the modem-router and laptop are powered-up.
The wireless connection between the modem-router and the HP Photosmart does not establish automatically. When I power-up the HP Photosmart I then have to use the setup button on the Photosmart and manually type in to the Photosmart the password (a1b2c3d4e5). The SSID displays as wireless, it does not have to be retyped.
Do you know if there is any NetComm or HP configuration which will cause automatic setup of the HP Photosmart to occur when it is powered-up?
What I am complaining about is having to manually type in the HP's password to the HP whenever the HP is powered-up.

The information that i gave was based on the info you provided, and only told you what steps would work. Troubleshooting process does involve guesswork as the issue that you're facing could be caused due to many reasons, and doing each and every step is a process of eliminating all the possible causes and narrowing it down to one particular cause. • New Photosmart Plus B209 a-m Will not connect wirelessly **HELP**

I just purchased this printer and i have tried every option I can think of and find online to get this printer to connect to my netgear router, I had a wireless canon printer that i had for a  while that quit so i went and bought this printer and now it wont connect i've never had this much trouble my canon connected right away. I changed my router settings and hit my WPS button for this printer and still nothing. When i click on the wireless option on the touchscreen menu on the printer it just says "No connection found" and the option on the solution center for USB to Wireless just runs and runs for hours. Any ideas?  Thanks a bunch in advance!!

    Hi- Cliff here.
I have the exact same printer. After I installed the software from the CD that came with the printer, I used the Wireless setup tab to configure my connection. You need to know about your network. Things like WEP, and most importantly- select the shared key if you use a 64 bit or 128 bit encryption. Mine would not work until I fixed the setup on the printer side of the wireless configuration. Type in your key (or passphrase) that's the same one you'd use on your laptop or desktop that is on the wireless network. Unless you have to- leave the settings to automatic on discovery of the IP address and DNS servers. You usually don't have to mess around with those on a home network. Make sure the printer is connected to the computer that you've installed the HP software on- with the USB cable when you start this process so the software can communicate with the printer. I used the "wizard" and after about 6 or 8 steps, I was able to remove the USB cable and put the printer downstairs. Then I simply used the Windows Vista "Add Device" for a printer on my network and Wahoo!!
I hope that helps. If not, write back to me and we can do a more detailed step by step overview.
I must say, once you get it all set up- it's a great printer and VERY inexpensive to operate. Ink is cheap and this printer is very fast over my network. I use my ACER Netbook all over the house and print from the garage and the front yard and the living room and even inside my RV!!
We will get it working.... Together....you are not alone in this.

  • Can't wirelessly connect HP c7280 for home wireless network using A.express

Hey there, I'm hoping someone can help me. I recently purchased a HP C7280 multifunction printer and have had a wired connection with my new iMac. I'd like to connect wireless and am having extraordinary difficulty. I'm using the latest leopard update. HP doesn't seem to offer any clear assistance. so i'm using an airport express that's connected to my router. I set up a wep key 40 bit and am trying to input that information into the printer's wep key password request. It finds my wireless signal named "Airport" and asks me for a wep key, when i enter the wep key which is 6 letters and 2 numbers, the response I get from the printer is
"key must be >5 or 13 characters OR - >10 or 26 length with 0-9 and A-F (hex). I've tried to follow this request but i can't seem to make it connect. this aforementioned message keeps popping up. what must i do? i've even restored the printers network factory default to no avail

The HPc7280 printer seems to be notoriously buggy. Get the new updated driver from the HP website and try to reinstall from scratch. Make sure you delete the previous driver version, because it might be seeing that it was a wired connection. The HP cannot be set as a default printer on Vista machines, it has to be chosen as a printer. After many hours of setup, our HP is finally working seemlessly with our Macs and PC.

  • Can No Longer Connect Wirelessly to HP Photosmart D110 after Comcast All-in-One Modem Upgrade

    Hello,
I just replaced my former modem +router setup with a new "all-in-one" "Wireless Gateway 1" modem from Comcast (model # TC8305C). The setup guide for the new modem states: "The Wireless Gateway 1 is an all-in-one product that connects XFINITY internet and home networking. It provides wired and WI-FI connectivity, so there's no need for a separate router." I was previously able to connect wirelessly to the Photosmart D110 from my laptop. When I tried to update the network information on the printer sing the printer's Wireless Setup Wizard, the network name did not appear in the list of available networks. I added the name, as requested, and then added the network password associated with the new modem. However, the printer's Wireless Network Test Report said that "the printer cannot find my wireless router." Specifically, the Test said that the new network name was found, but said that the passcode was incorrect. I repeated the setup 3 times and did type the network passcode correctly. Will the printer not work wirelessly due to the new all-in-one modem? Is there a way to remedy this? I apologize for being pathetically non-technical, and would be grateful for any assistance! Thanks.

OK, first wireless Gateway (modem/router combo) units are terrible for wireless connection. It is always, always best to use a separate modem and router in your network that YOU have control over instead of Comcast. If you have your old router it would be best to call Comcast and have that Gateway put in Bridge mode (disables the router section) and connect your own high quality router. With that said, let's try this. Set the router to a fixed wireless channel like 1, 6 or 11, never 'auto'. If you still can't connect, remove all security off the routers SSID. Now try to connect to your SSID with no security. Are you successful?
