Photosmart D110 cannot scan with Mac OS X Yosemite

HI there, I recently update my Mac Book to the OS X Yosiemite software and since then I cannot use the scanner on my printer. I am able to print wirelessly but when I try to scan it says that the scanner is not compatible with operating system. Can you please recommend how to solve this problem? Thank you

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @SrMacUser
I understand you're having issues with scanning after a Mac update. I am hoping to help!
To get started, there is no driver available for the Photosmart C5180 on Yosemite, meaning you will not be able to scan using HP scan, as there is no HP scan software available. You do have other scanning options however.  Here are my suggestions:
Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system
Repair disk permissions
Restart the Mac
Follow this guide: Installing Your HP Printer Driver and Software for Mac OS X
In addition, download this driver: HP Printer Drivers v3.0 for OS X
Your scanning options are in #4, and should have you scanning in no time.
Have a wonderful day

  • Cannot scan in Mac OS X Yosemite after latest security update

The scanning option disappeared for my HP Photosmart C5180 All-in-one after a recent Mac OS X Yosemite update and then shortly thereafter there was an HP driver update and it all worked and then we had the latest Mac OS X Yosemite security update just before Christmas and now the scanning feature has disappeared again. I think we need another driver update.

    Hi there again!
Try these steps in order, and then try scanning using your three offered methods on your Mac. If the scanning still does not work and the copies work fine from the front panel of the printer, contact Apple Support for help scanning with your Mac OS X.

  • Photosmart d110 won't scan with Mac OS X 10.9

"HP Scan" utility used to work correctly with my iMac and hp Photosmart d110 printer/scanner.  Since updating to Mac OS X 10.9.5, the scanning no longer works.  I've downloaded most recent scanner drivers, and installed multiple times. Connection is hardwired USB.
Multiple symptoms:  "can't connect" errors, or scans very slowly and generates a black blank page.  Printing works fine.
(Windows laptop scans correctly, with wireless connection to the d110.)

    Hi,
The HP scan app is no longer available for Mavericks, scannign can be done from Image Capture or Preview:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03967506&tmp_task=useCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=e...
If that fails as well, try updating the software by following these steps:
Click the Apple icon, then select Software Update.
Click the top Store menu and click on Reload Page.
Be sure to install any HP or Apple update, then try scannig again.

  • HP Scanner not scanning with MAC OS X 10.9.4

I cannot scan from my HP Photosmart All In One Scanner, Product #CN731A to my MAC OS X 10.9.4. I also use Safari. Please advise!
    Thank you

I just learned how to do this with my HP Photosmart 3310 All-in-One from watching a video on the HP website.  I used Image Capture.
Place the item that you want to scan on the scanner glass, or load it into the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) if your printer has one.
In the Applications folder or from the Dock, click Image Capture .
Select your printer from the list. If your printer connects to a network, select it from the Shared list. The details of the scan display.
Click Show Details to view scan settings and options.
Change any settings as necessary, and then click Scan .

Hello WelchS, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are looking into your scan options. I would like to try and help.
Due to the age of the printer, there is no HP software for this printer on Mavericks.  You can, however, utilize the Mac in-OS basic print and scan drivers.  I am including a document on Installing and Using the Printer on a Mac that should help resolve this, specifically the section of the document entitled "How do I scan with the driver from Apple Software Update?"
Please let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Photosmart D110 series - scan not saving to PDF!!

    Help!
I'm not able to save my scan to PDF format or even JPEG preview.  I am using a Macbook Pro, OS is Maverick.  When I try to save to PDF using the drop down menu, I get an error message saying, "error has orrcured saving the file bcause it could not be written to...".  I've read the other support blogs and tried updating the software, etc and it still doesn't work.  The version of HP Scan is 2.4.1.  This is really frustrating!  Help please!  : )

Hello aparks and welcome to the HP forums!
I'm sorry to hear you've had issues scanning with HP Scan on your 10.9 system but I believe I know what's causing the issue and would be happy to help out
With your Photosmart D110, there is no HP software package for the 10.9 Mavericks operating system, meaning that the version of HP Scan you're using is not compatible, thus causing issues. I would recommend that you follow this Uninstalling the Printer Software document to get the software removed and then I will suggest that you follow this OS X v10.9 Mavericks: Installing and Using the Printer on a Mac document to get the printer installed via the Apple Updates.
Once that is completed, you can then follow this How to Scan: OS X v10.9 document to see the different scanning methods available without the HP software package.
Hope this gets you back up and running! Let me know how things go

  • Cannot scan with HP LaserJet M1005 MFP

I updated to Snow Leopard 10.6.3 yesterday. Big mistake as I cannot now scan with my HP LaserJet M1005 MFP. I have been unable to find a solution here or via Google. Does anyone know if this is possible? I realize this device has never been "Mac friendly" (one might even say, not compatible.... despite HP's over-generous claims), but I would have thought there would be a new driver for SL by now.
If not, could anyone recommend a non-HP scanner (not MFP) that works well with SL?
    thanks!

    Hi @3Digit ,
I see that you are having issues scanning, there isn't any scanning software in the HP folder. I would like to help you out today.
Open the HP Scan window with one of the following methods:
Double-click the HP Scan icon () for your printer on the Windows desktop.
Click the Windows icon (), click All Programs, click the HP folder, click the name of your printer, and then click HP Scan.
If you are missing the HP Scan software altogether, then the full software didn't install on the computer.
If that is the case, uninstall and reinstall the printer software. Here is the link for the newest drivers. Software & Drivers.
First do these steps, before installing the software, just to make sure it fully installs.
I would disable all the start up programs and temporarily turn off the Antivirus Software and any Real Time Scanning in the Antivirus Software also, to see if that is causing the issue. How to use MSCONFIG . Click on the Startup tab and click Disable all, Then click the Services tab and check Hide All Microsoft Services.
I have provided a document for how to scan. It is for Windows 7, but the steps will also work for Windows Vista.
Scan from Windows 7 With the Full Feature HP Software for HP LaserJet Multifunction Printers
How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet/Wireless)
If you need further assistance, just let me know.
    Have a nice day!
    Thank You.

  • Cannot scan with my HP6210 OfficeJet after installing Yosemite

Since installing Yosemite on my MacBook Pro I have not been able to scan using my HP OfficeJet 6210.  I have followed the instructions on the HP support page 'No Scan Options' relating to uninstalling and reinstalling the Apple built-in software, but I cannot scan either with Print/Scan, Image Capture or with Preview.  In all three cases, after adding the printer back, when I attempt to scan the first screen message is, Waiting for scanner.... and is then followed by, Failed to open a session on the device.
After I uninstalled the software and followed the instructions to delete the 6200 file from the PPD Resource file, it no longer shows up in the dialog box for software when I added the printer in Printers & Scanners in System Preferences .  So I am left with using Generic  PCL printer software.  Also, there is no choice for model 6210, only 6200.
It seems that I have run out of options to resolve the problem.

    Hi,
Please try the following instructions to update:

  • Scanning with Mac OS10.10.1

Since I've updated to Yosemite I cannot scan on my printer. Can someone familiar with Macs Yosemite tell me how to do that? Just scanning. Everything else is fine and I do NOT want to buy a new printer just for this. I've tried Image Capture and Preview to no avail.
    TIA
    Connie

I found another similar link that might help out in the short term. There are other software packages that can scan besides the HP scan utility. The following link provides this info. However the first step is to add the printer back to the system. I would be frustratied to to not see hte printer in the list of available devices.
Since you've tried unplugging the cable and then reattaching without any success, I would next try powering off the printer completely and then powering it back on after a couple of seconds. I'm not an expert but I believe it should show up in the list of available printers to add in.
Please try Steps 1, 2, and 3 in the link below. Make sure your OS is fully updated from the Apple App store. If it does not show the HP Printer driver as an option then I believe you are fully updated. Step 2 has you add the printer back in. Step 3 explains the other software packages that can be used to scan from the printer. The key is really going to be getting your printer back on the system.
