Photosmart Plus B209 Printhead Problems

I have the above printer, just over a year old.  My ink was low, so I replaced it, it printed the alignment page, moved it up and scanned it, then it went to " The printhead installed is not intended for this printer or it may be damaged".
I followed instructions for cleaning the specified areas- no luck. Unplugged it for 10 minutes and turned it back on- no luck. cleaned one more time- I Quit.
    Does anyone have a solution?
    Cost of a printhead?
Cost of an office space aluminum bat?
No point in wasting my money for teleplone customer service, HP won't ship outside US/ Canada.
Thanks,
Phillip

I would start by removing the ink cartridges, then remove the printhead and clean the gold contacts on the printhead and in the printer with a damp lint free tissue.
If the above does not help then Contact HP, they do have worldwide support.

  • Photosmart Plus B209 printout doesn't match screen

I always have a problem when printing out images with my HP Photosmart Plus B209 All in One.  For instance, I make 2 in x 2 in images for passport photos.  I create the images in a digital editing program in a 2x2 size and then drop them into MS Word for printout.  On the screen, the picture size shows as 2 in x 2 in, but when I print it out, the picture is closer to 2 1/16 inches x 2 1/16 inches.  And if I print a borderless 8.5 in x 11 in and the image has a frame, often either one of the sides or the bottom of the frame is cut off some.  I have tried Scaling, Not Scaling, Fit Image to Page, Print 100%.  I also have this problem with Microsoft Publisher when printing a banner.  Although the Print Preview shows perfect alignment, when I print them out they don't quite match.  Does anyone know what I might be able to do to fix this problem?  I always do a scan and alignment when I change my cartridges and the quality of the print is great, but it just doesn't seem to print at the right size.  It's not off by much, but enough to ruin the effect of certain images.  I'd appreciate any feedback that someone can give me on this.  Thanks so much.

Page 7 of the manual only references WPA and not WPA2.  I did search the manual for mention of WPA2 and did not find any.  This indicates it does not support WPA2, so this could be an issue.  However, this typically does not prevent the printer from seeing the network but only connecting to it.
While the wireless radio is more than likely functioning, it may be best to confirm it is working since it is not seeing the SSID.  Go to setup>network> wireless network test.
Does it show anything as failed?  If so, what items are marked?

  • Photosmart Plus b209 - won't see networks, won't run WPS, wireless light ON

    Hello.
So I've had a Photosmart Plus b209 for the past three years. Never had a problem. Suddenly I switch my router to a Linksys e2500 and everything stops working.
I've printed network tests; my printer has no IP address, even when I revert to factory settings. Though the printout tests indicate the printer can "see" my network, I am not able to get it to detect it via the touch-screen menu. WPS also refuses to work, either prompting an error message or a time-out. The wireless light has been on this whole time.
I'm on a Mac, running OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion). I'm starting to get very frustrated. What can I do?

Status of the blue wireless light on the printer, on, off blinking?  Verified you are connected to your SSID with correct password?  What is the IP of the printer?

  • Photosmart plus b209-a passes all diagnostics, sends files to printer- but never prints them

I have a photosmart plus b209-a set up on our wireless network.  we love it when it works.  But the problem is that even though it will pass all diagnostics- whether tools installed on the computer or using the online tests- it still won't print.  I've gone through the network utilities and the printer diagnostics and they both say all clear, but both times when I tell it to print a test page nothing comes out.
I have opened the document que when sending files to the printer, and the file will pop up for about half a second then disappear, and it won't print.  I have turned the printer on and off with no change.
Now the really confusing thing- this only happens about 60% of the time. As I write this post, I have been trying to print from my computer on the network without success.  My wife just tried on her computer, and it is printing for her.  Sometimes it's the other way around and mine will print and hers won't.  It's not an ink thing or that my computer isn't on the network- as I've said the diagnostic utility shows the printer online and ready to use, it just won't print the thing.

    good questions-
nothing between my computers and the router, they and the printer are about 15 feet from the router.
Neither computers are upgrades of vista- one is XP sp3, the other is win7 home.
All utilities ran say the signal strength is good, and both computers will sometimes print and sometimes not, then after a reboot of the printer it will be a new situation with each one- changes all the time.
Thanks for looking into this with me- I appreciate the help!

  • Wireless printing via HP Photosmart Plus B209

    Hey all,
Thanks for your help in advance. I am using an HP Photosmart Plus B209 series all in-one printer. The opperating systems in use are Windows 7 (64-bit) With my Dell laptop I am unable to use this printer as the default and print wirelessly. I can, however, print wirelessly via my Acer laptop with no problems. The error that shows up with the Dell laptop is that there is an error in the printing network. The printer is visible  though through the internet on that computer. Here is another dosey for ya. I AM able to print from the Dell laptop using the printer through the shared network with the Acer computer. This is okay however a hassel to have to have to laptops on just to print wirelessly from the Dell laptop. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the servers from the HP web site a couple of times and nothing yet. I have also tried the various updates and no positive outcomes have occured. If anyone has any suggestions or knows exactly what I need to do that would be great!! Thanks again.
    Sincerely,

  • Connect hp photosmart plus b209 printer to verizon fios wireless router

Having trouble connecting HP Photosmart Plus B209 printer to verizon fios wireless router in order to access printer via home wireless network.  The WPS (push button) connection option is not available on the current software version of router (VERIZON M1424WR rev.1  (Mfg. ACTIONTEC)).  So, need to know how to connect via the PIN option.
Normally, to connect a wireless device (like this HP printer) to the network, the device would input the router's security pin (e.g. WEP key).  But I can't figure out how to input the router's WEP key via the printers face screen.  And, after talking to Verizon, there is no provision to enter the printer's pin within the router's control setup online.
    Any suggestions?  Thanks.

  • Photosmart Plus B209 - Photo Black Ink Question

Hi I just brought the Photosmart Plus and notice that there are 2 types of black for this printer and only one slot on the printhead for the black ink.  I am still using the starter black that came with the printer.  So my question is if I want to print a photo, do I just switch the regular black out with the photo black and switch it back when finished printing the photo? or Should I finish the starter black first then switch to photo black. TIA!!

  • Photosmart Plus B209 loosing connection

I just purchased a new Photosmart Plus printer and love it except for one problem.  It seems to loose its connection with the network when it goes into sleep mode.  It is connected over the wireless network to 2 XP computers hardwired to the router and 1 Win. 7 laptop.  They all work fine until the printer goes to sleep.  If you cycle the power button on the printer everything is fine until it goes to sleep again.
    Thanks for any help
    Neal
    Thank You,
    Neal

Did you find a solution to this?
I've had this printer for a few months now and I have no complaints except for this sleeping issue.  I basically have to go downstairs, unplug it, and plug it back in to get it to work again.
I have a Linksys/Cisco wireless G router.  It is set for WPA2.  Hosts on the network use DHCP, but the printer is set with a static IP.  This setup works for a while, but eventually goes to sleep and I cannot get it to wake without doing the power cycle.  I have also set the printer to not to go into sleep mode.  No avail.
Hosts are laptops (only turned on when needed) that run Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

  • Photosmart Plus B209 Excessive Ink Consumption

My Photosmart Plus printer uses too much ink.  I have had it 3 months and have printed very little.  Yet, I have gone through 2 sets of 564 ink cartridges.  It is almost out of ink again.  It seems to use ink even when I haven't printed anything.
Is it possible that my printer is defective?
During that entire 3 months I have printed no more than 10 4x6 photos and perhaps 30 mixed text/web pages.  I have never had a printer that used so much ink.

I have the C309 which uses the 564 cartridge.  I am totally disgusted.  I cannot afford this machine.  I too, use it very little and it just runs out.  I posted a question on how to make it run with just the one black XL cartridge full, with the others installed but empty.  Am awaiting answer, but I think this model doesn't have that option.
If I can't afford this, although I have had HP for two decades of printers, I will be leaving for good and going to a Kodak model which claims to have little expense for ink.
Anyone have experience with Kodak?  I will be sorry to leave HP, but they have gotten greedy if this machine is any example.  It's a shame  because it is a darn good machine.   HP needs to lower the prices for ink for this ink hog or it's bye-bye for good.  After this experience, I would be afraid to buy another hog.

  • HP Photosmart Plus B209 not working no more

My printer worked just fine and then one day it just stopped. I have a wireless router and could print from my laptop one day and then nothing.  I've tried all the guided solutions and uninstalled and reinstalled software.  An error will pop up that says that the two way connection isn't working. My router is working just fine for my laptop and my kids game systems??  Any suggestions?  In my printer menu, I show like 5 printers and one of them was flashing "upgrade" and then that's when all of a sudden I can't print.  Doucument failed everytime and now it's failing on start up???

Have you connected the printer to the network? Make sure the printer has a IP ADDRESS or a SSID in its settings.
    1. Click Setup
    2. Wireless/Network
    3. Then click VIEW WIRELESS SUMMARY
If it says, no connection, you will have to go back to the Wireless Setup Wizard, and connect printer to the network.

  • HP Photosmart Plus B209 - will not print photos - tray is not picking up the paper

The printer will not grab the photo paper when I attempt to print a picture.  It works just fine when printing other things, such as text from WORD or something from the internet.  Photo paper says "single sheet feed" on it, so I place one sheet in the tray.
Any ideas?  Am I doing something incorrectly?  Thanks

    Hi hgr7,
I understand that you are having an issue with the photo tray picking up the paper. I will try my best to help you with this problem. In this document for The All-in-One Does Not Pick Up or Feed Paper From the Photo Tray there are several steps to resolve this issue.

The screen on my printer will not light up, and therefore will not print when I give the command.  I kept telling it to print (thinking that somehow it would kick-in, so my queue is filled with commands that didn't kick-in!).  Has anyone had this problem, and if so, any idea how I can fix it?  Help!

    Welcome to the community @Dooj65
I would suggest trying these steps for you:
Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system
    Repair disk permissions
    Re-start your Mac
Re-add the printer now and try other methods to scan as well:
Scan from OS X v10.9 Mavericks Without HP Software for HP Multifunction Printers
    I hope that helps

  • Hp photosmart plus b209-a

I cant print anything from my computer,  showing offline right now.  This is about the 3rd or 4th time this has done this.  My first time trying to fix the problem through posting.  Additionally like the other times I can't scan and item and send to my computer.  Why does this wireless system always seem to be changing settings and causing problems.  Need help to get back to being able to print.

Here is the easiest way to set a static IP with an HP wireless printer:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') to 250
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.
    - Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS. This is Google DNS. You can choose another external DNS if you wish.
    - Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

  • HP Photosmart Plus B209 a-m -Work VPN & Home Wireless Network

    Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me with an issue I'm having  with my HP B209am.  I'm trying to print wireless from my laptop but it seems when I'm connected to the my work VPN, it can't find the printer.  Does anyone know how to correct this issue?  Once I disconnect from the work VPN, I can print without any issues.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    This is an expected behaviour.
    Follow the Causes section below:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c02790693&lc=en&product=3777182&tmp...
You may check with your local IT for any applicable VPN setting as VPN tunneling, this is only related with your network structure and many VPNs does not provide such functionality... in most cases you will have to disconnect from any VPN in order to use a local device as a printer.

  • Photosmart plus B209 cannot find Wireless (wifi) Network

    Hello
I had an upgrade to my wifi network (faster speed package) which made the computers happy but stuffed my printer.  It cannot be seen on the network and it cannot find a network.  It works OK when connected with USB.
I am running Mac OS X 10.8.2, no updates outstanding.
Tried delete and reinstall on the mac
    Tried reboots
I downloaded and ran the HewlettPackardPrint2.12.dmg file to ensure I had the right drivers
    Using a CISCO DPC2935 router
Read every help post I could find but to no avail
Tried the WPS setup but the printer timed out (and I had clicked the WPS button on the router yes)
Tried running the original wifi setup software provided but it showed the printer trying to use my old wifi network and could not see any network for me to change that - guessing that bit of software no longer works with Mac 10.8.  My computer i was running that from was happily connected to the wifi network in question
    All help appreciated.

    See if this helps.
