Photosmart Plus B209a-m | Wireless Config Trouble

For some reason i can not get my printer to connect to my AP, but i was able to connect to the wireless router. Is there any particular reason why? The only difference between the two access points is the fact that the AP does not have DHCP enabled.. but i dont recall it ever being enabled, and it previously was able to make a connection via the AP.

Check to make sure your AP is in bridge mode (DHCP off) and that it is broadcasting the same SSID and security.

    Not via bluetooth.
You can print to some wi-f printers if they are airprint enabled printers or you have an app that provides this feature.

  • HP Photosmart Plus B209a-m wireless goes offline after system is shutdown

I am using the HP Photosmart Plus B209a-m on a Dell XPS 16 with Windows 7 64bit. I have setup the printer to connect to the Belkin wireless router so it is on the network. I have setup the printer numerous times and had it working over wireless many times. After the PC is shutdown the printer goes offline. I have to rerun setup over and over again to bring wireless back online. I added the MAC address to the Belkin router, and I have the device trusted in my Norton Firewall. I keep seeing "HP Network Support Automatic (Delayed Start)" in services, but changing it does not seem to make any difference I still need to rerun setup again after the system is shutdown. I am also seeing two printer icons in Devices and Printers. One is just the Photosmart Printer with a generic printer icon; and the second is Photosmart Printer, Scanner, Copier with a picture of the Photosmart which I believe it should be. I have run the setup at least 10 times, and I keep getting a good working wireless system then after the machine is shutdown for the day the printer goes offline and will not print again. How can I prevent the printer from going offline in wireless mode?

Setting a static IP address may help this issue:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you know what that is, set an IP outside that range but no higher than 254 (the last number in the address). If you do not know this, enter the current IP address.
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Leave the gateway and DNS blank. Click 'Apply
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

You need to re-install the printer, probably via the hp software and the temporary use of a USB cable.
After it is back on your network, set a static IP address:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.

  • HP Photosmart Plus B209a is no longer printing through wireless connection.  Appreciate any suggestions...

Hello.  My HP Photosmart Plus B209a all in one printer stopped working through wireless connection yesterday.  I have tried to delete the printer and reinstall using HP Setup Assistant, but when I attempt to configure the device for a wireless network, the HP Setup Assistant quits unexpectedly. I can succesfully set up the printer, but only for use with a USB cable.  I noticed that there was an HP printer software update installed yesterday version 2.16.1. Could this have anything to do with it?  I read something about airprint in the support discussions but I dont see the nearby printer option anywhere?  I checked the list of compatible printers and mine is on there so I am not sure what I am missing here.  I would hate to go out and buy a new printer.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

I have the same printer but my problem stems from installing a new router. I went through the exact same steps that you did and the HP Installer crashed on me 5 different times at the exact same spot. I called HP and got through to them and after 15 minutes he informed me that this particulart printer is no longer "supported" and software is not available. I told him that I downloaded the update that was available today. He was no help whatsoever. I also can print via USB but that is not at all what I want. The downside of this printer anyways is that it is not Airprint compatible. So, its either reinstall the old router or buy a new printer. This *****!

  • Photosmart Plus B209a won't communicate with my computer

I have a Photosmart Plus B209a, and I run 4 different laptops with a wireless connection They run Windows Vista, and Windows 7, and I can not print either. The Wireless hub was recently changed, but prior to that I could not print.  I get an error message when trying to reinstall the printer software from Windows that states that the USB device is not recognized AND SHOULD BE REPLACED .I bought a brand new USB cord for the printer from HP, and it still doesn't work. I was on the phone with HP for an hour and a half and they had control of my laptop and the issue is still not resolved, she said it must be my laptops problem and then transferred me to an online pay for help service that was a minimum charge of $65. All I know is I have had problems with this happening from the start, it seems every time there is a software upgrade, I have to reconnect to the printer, and now WINDOWS is not even recognizing the device...I will be interested in any answers you receive. Thanks.

  • Hp photosmart plus b209a-m not connecting to wifi

    Hello forum members,
I have recently changed modems to a Zxytel model (in Prague in the Czech Republic) and successfully set up the wifi with my 15" MacBook Pro using the latest Lion OS, as well as on my iPhone and iPad. However, I cannot get my HP Photosmart Plus B209a-m correctly set up on the wireless network. I go through the standard setup procedures using the HP Setup Assistant (as I have many times before with no problems). It recognizes the printer on the system, but eventually gives me a "Device Not Reachable" error message (it can't find my MacBook, although I'm successfully using the laptop on the same wifi address). I'm stumped.
I've tried rebooting the laptop, unplugging the printer, deleting the printer from my list and starting all over again. None of them are time consuming, so no big deal, but none of them are solving my issues either.
In the meantime, I can print using a USB cable, so I'm not totally out of luck, but I'd like to get this printer properly configured for wireless use.
    Any help?

You didn't try to use it wireless and forget to change it back to wired?
Unplug it for 30 seconds and then plug it back in?

  • Photosmart Plus B209a-m Won't connect to iPhone Hotspot

This is my first time to post.  Hopefully, someone can help me.  My friend is using a Verizon iPhone as a hotspot.  He can connect 5 devices to the iPhone hotspot.  When I attempted to connect his Photosmart Plus B209a-m to the hotspot, the laptop loses the wireless connection to the hotspot.  The printer installation wizard gets to the point where it finds the SSID and I enter the security phrase.  When the install process reaches about 40%, the his laptop loses the wireless connection.
The only way to reconnect the laptop to the iPhone is to disable the printer wireless radio or turn the printer off.
The hotspot uses WPA-PSK security.  I noticed that when the wizard found the hotspot it showed WPA security not WPA-PSK.
Is there an update for the printer so that it can connect using WPA-PSK? I could not find one.  Or is there something else that I need to do to make the printer connect to the iPhone hotspot.
I worked with Verizon support then with Apple support but since we can connect 2 laptops and a Smartphone to the hotspot, they say it is a printer issue.
    Thanks.

Are you sure the hotspot uses WPA and not WPA2 (with or without the suffixes of PSK or AES is all the same)?
The printer will probably not connect to WPA2.  Is there a way to change the iPhone encryption?
Actually, is there a way to remove the encryption altogether for testing purposes?

  • Excessive INK LEVEL LOW warnings; Excessive PRINTER OFF LINE warnings on HP Photosmart Plus B209a-m

HP Photosmart Plus B209a-m Excessive INK LEVEL LOW Warnings: False PRINTER OFFLINE Warnings
I have the HP Photosmart Plus B209a-m, Lenovo T43 running XP SP3.
I love the print quality and the way it looks. But...it's very noisy and the big problem is:
When any one of the 4 ink cartridges gets to around 25%, the ink low warning , comes on, sometimes more than once per minute! And then it opens the LARGE dialogue box right in the middle of the screen showing me ink levels (none below 25% by the way), and  * soliciting me to buy ink from them on line or from a dealer or whatever.  I close it and the three warning boxes (Ink level low-two boxes simultaneously and Printer Offline)....Then a couple minutes later all them are back. This makes the computer basically unusable.
*These frequent (every few minutes)  PRINTER OFFLINE warnings occur even though it is on line. this is a wireless enabled printer. Despite the warning that it is offline, as soon as I issue a print command the printer responds (with the ink level warnings of course, while it's printing).
How can I disable (forever) the  OFFLINE and INK LEVEL warnings?

On the touchscreen of the printer
    touch setup
    touch preferences
    touch cartridge chip info
    then touch OK
    no more annoying pop-ups
    Note
To re-enable the usage information function, restore the factory defaults.
    Note
You can continue to use the cartridge in the HP product if you turn off the memory chip's ability to collect the product's usage information.
