Photostream incomplete to iphone 5

Just got my iphone 5. Photos in iphone 4 Photostream backed up by icloud did not fully transferred to new iphone 5. Can someone help?

Photo stream only keeps photos for 30 days.  After that they are deleted from your photo stream but not from any devices that already have the photos in their photo stream album.  That's why your 3GS and your computer still have all 267 photos but your new phone only received 44; the others are no longer there to receive.  If they are on your PC, you should be able to put the missing photos in a folder and sync them to your new phone by selecting the folder on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing.  If you really want them back in your photo stream, you can use an app like PhotoSync to transfer them from your computer to your iPhone 5 camera roll.  Once there, they will be seen as new photos and added to your photo stream.

If you created an album containing some of your photo stream photos, this will not be shared using photo stream.  If you want to share a subset of your photos, create a shared photo stream and share it with your wife, as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmc0cd7e99.

The iPhone has a closed file system and you would not be able to download files to it. There have also not been any identified virus/malware that can successfully get into the iPhone. You should be fine.

  • How to get Photostream from 'business' iPhone to 'family' iCloud-account

Has anyone found a solution for this yet ?
There must be numerous pleople having this same problem :
I have a (in my opinon rather standard) setup in which I have a private iCloud-account on my 'business devices' (iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro) and I have a shared iCloud-account on our 'family' Mac.
Now I would like to arrange things the way that's most logical to me :
I want my business devices to sync the more 'business-like' iCloud services :
    Mail
    Contacts
    Calendars
    (Bookmarks is less important)
    Documents & Data
    Back to My Mac
    Find My Mac
    iTunes Store
    Mac App Store
But I want my business devices to Photostream to our 'family' Mac's, since that's the device where our (only complete) iPhoto-library is on...
Now there seems to be no way to do so since :
    - iCloud automatically uses the same iCloud-account for Photostream, Documents & Data, Back to My Mac and Find My Mac (only for Mail, Contacts, Calendars, iTunes and Mac App Store it is optional to use a different iCloud-account)
    - setting up my business iCloud-account as the secondary iCloud-account on all my business devices would be completely un-logical and would not allow me to keep (especially) my Documents & Data 'business' ; they will be visible on our 'family' Mac, which is completely off bounds for my employer and my clients...
Has anyone found a solution to this ?
(or will this be solved in OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion maybe ?)
options I have thought about, but I couldn't get working yet :
    - running a second installation of iPhoto on our 'family' Mac
    - running both iPhoto and Aperture on our 'family' Mac
    - getting the Photostream from my 'business' iCloud.com into our 'family' Mac by subscribing to the URL
    - setting up one-and-the-same Eye-Fi account on my 'business' iPhone & iPad and on our 'family' Mac
    - searching for a 3rd-party Mac-app that can read and/or import the 'business' Photostream info our 'family' iPhoto
    - something involving Photoshop Elements 10 Organiser...
    Any help would be helpful.
    Thanks !

Thank you for your reply Winston.
very interesting info, too bad however that Dropbox doesn't do auto-import into iPhoto...
I might have figured out a way to do this using Eye-Fi (free account, free iOS-app & free Mac-app ; by SanDisk) :
Eye-Fi seems to do auto-upload from iPhone/iPad, auto-transfer to a Mac (over WiFi, and if needed even over 3G it seems), and auto-import into iPhoto...
...it can even handle video upload (which iCloud Photostream can't)
and it has 'free temporary online viewing' with Eye-Fi View (which is kind-of like MobileMe Gallery...)
(and some payed extensions that are less interesting in my opinion)
...I'm testing right now if Eye-Fi works for me.
(Maybe I still need to combine it with Dropbox's auto-upload though...)
    Thanks !
Note : Eye-Fi even has an option to upload to MobileMe... too bad MobileMe is no longer available... hopefully there will be integration with iCloud in the near future...

  • How do I get the default Photostream on my MacBook Pro to match the Photostream on my iPhone and iPad?

Essentially, I am having issues getting photos that I save on my iPhone or iPad to automatically appear on my MacBook's iPhoto app (and vice versa). The iPad and iPhone automatically share all photos between each other. I have iCloud set up and all of the photo sharing options selected on all devices, so that's not the issue. I used a bit of a workaround and created and shared a custom stream, which ultimately works. However, it involves a lot of moving photos around on all three devices, so I'd like to get the Photostream service working the way it's intended by getting the default Photostream connected to my iCloud account automatically syncing among all three devices.
    Thanks.

Photos are kept in the My Photo Stream for 30 days or until more than 1000 have been added.  The photos will remain in the MPS for longer than 30 days if the 1000 limit is not reached.
However, depending on when a device joined the iCloud feature and started receiving the MPS it will not see any that were added more than 30 days from the date of joining.  So if your MBP signed into iCloud and the MPS feature later than the other 2 devices it will not see photos that they might.  Also if you've turned off My Photo Stream on the MPB and then added it back it will only see the last 30 days worth.

  • HT201317 I reset my photostream in iCloud but I still have old pictures in Photostream on my iPhone that I now want to move to the cloud so I can sync them to my PC ... new pics sync to the cloud fine - can I sync the older ones?

I had 146 pictures on my iPhone 4S PhotoStream but it wasn't syncing to my PC properly so I "reset" my iCloud trying to get things to work.
So now the NEW picures I take sync to my PC just fine ... is there any way at all to get the 146 pics to sync to the cloud now?  Or any way of getting them to my PC short of emailing them all?  HELP!
    ADVthanksANCE

Thanks so much Winston - I didn't even realize that the cord I use to recharge with an outlet is actual a USB connection that disconnects from the outlet plug!   Worked like a charm ... PC detected the new device, loaded up the proper drivers, and I was able to move pictures over from the now available folder from the "My Computer" icon or into Picasa or whatever.   A bit annoying that the pictures weren'tarranged in the same folders as on my iPhone, but all-in-all a most excellent suggestion - if I could figure outhow to give you a "green checkmark" indicating you solved my problem I would do so, but for now please settle formy thanks!

  • Is there a wifi-enabled camera that will automatically upload to Photostream like the iPhone?

I love that I can take a photo on my iPhone and it will upload to Photostream and appear in Aperture automatically. I've heard that there are wifi-enabled digital cameras (though I really couldn't name one of them). Do any of these cameras have the ability to upload photos to Photostream in the same manner as an iOS device?

I doubt it. At this time uploading to Photostream is exclusive to Apple devices.

  • Will there be a fix to the low image resolutions in Photostream between the iPhone?

Photostream problems arise in the highly inadequate process Apple has currently set up. Once an image is taken by an iPhone they are automatically uploaded to photostream....
...This is where the troubles begin.
Should you then download that newly taken/uploaded image to an iPad (iOs) via Photostream for the purpose of editing, it will have it's resolution reduced automatically (no choice of the user). Converserly, should you download that same newly taken/uploaded image via Photostream onto your desktop/laptop (MacOs), surprisingly it will be the original size in which it was taken w/ no reductions in the resolution.
    WHY?
Apple, please fix this, otherwise this makes using photostream on my ipad for image transfer/edit (for larger screen real estate), totally obsolete!
This is very frustrating as this is one of the main reasons why I purchased an ipad in the first place.

IPhoto on the iPad does support RAW images by the way, and other apps too.
That depends on what you are calling "support". If you read the iPhoto documentation carefully, you will see, that iPhoto does not do any more than import and store the raw files, but cannot edit the. For browsing the embedded jpeg preview will be displayed, and if you edt the raw image, the edited image will be derived from the jpeg preview. The raw file will never be developed.
See: Using RAW images with iPhoto for iOS: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5182
When you import a RAW image to your iPad, iPhoto will display only the JPEG version of the image embedded in the RAW file. When editing a RAW image in iPhoto, the edits are derived from the embedded JPEG, and saved in JPEG format.
You cannot email RAW images from iPhoto, but you can share unedited RAW images to iTunes:
Tap one of the photos you want to share to iTunes.
Tap the share icon, and select iTunes from the options that appear.
Follow the prompts to select one or more images to send to iTunes.
In iTunes, select your device, and choose Apps.
    Scroll down to File Sharing.
Select iPhoto, and then your photos. Click "Save to...".
If you made any edits to your image, iPhoto will send a JPEG version to iTunes instead.
If you import RAW+JPEG images, iPhoto will display and export the JPEG version.
Nowhere is stated, that iPhoto can process raw images.
With respect to the photo stream - believe, I am not happy with it, as it is. My post was meant to support your statement.
The IOS devices are computers, but not yet up to serious, high resolution image processing. Everything is reduced to smaller resolutions and only easy to navigate, if you only work with a small set set of images, not with a large photo library, which is o.k. for web sharing and emailing, but not for preprocessing the images for further edits on your computer.
Just try to delete 500 images at once from the iPad, when you are running out of storage. You will have to select them one by one, to delete them.

  • Can you link 2 photostreams from separate iPhones to the same mac iPhoto via iCloud?

Myself (iphone 5) and my wife (4S) both have an iphone but share the same Macbook pro.
I have just set up my photostream to sync to iphoto in our Macbook via the icloud.
Is there a way of also synching my wife's 4S photostream to the same iphoto.
I don't want to make extra users or mount the iphoto elsewhere, I'm basically hoping for a quick fix that means we can seamlessly contribute and utilise the same folder with all of our folders!
    Any help much appreciated, thanks!

only by both using the same Apple ID to log into iCloud or using sahred Photo Streams

  • PC Photostream not matching iPhone Photostream

Hello, I am having an issue with my photo stream. On my iPhone 5s, my iCloud is active and I have photo stream activated to share with my other devices. I currently have 1000 photos on my photo stream, which is normal since the phones photo stream will only keep the 1000 most recent photos. However, my PC only has 819 photos, which means not only are some of my photos lost, since I should have over 1000 due to the fact I have been using the iCloud service since before I started taking photos, but now some of the photos in the photo stream of my phone are only viewable there, and no where else (they should be in my PC right?), and I cannot get to them unless I save each one individually to my camera roll. Does anybody know what might be going on? Thank you!

To make things even more complicated....we have two iphones on the same PC.   Photostream works for the other phone, under a different user identity and icloud ID.   This original phone however does not.

  • Photostream incomplete in appleTV

I installed the latest update for appleTV.  I also installe IOS 5.1 on my iPhone.  This version of iOS allows me to delete photos from my photostream. So I deleted a few photos that I didn't want in the photostream.  After deleting a few photos, I turned on the appleTV and looked at my photostream, All the photos are still there.  So I logged out of the appleTV photostream and logged back in.  It showed my photostream empty and started downloading the images.  However it only downloaded 7 images.  I have over 200 images in the Photostream according to my iPhone.
    So two bugs observed:
    1)  Deleting photos from the iPhone Photostream does not delete it from all other devices.
    2)  Logging out of Photostream from appleTV and logging back in will only download a few images from the photostream.  Not all images show up.
Anyone else observe this?  And figure out how to get all the photos from photostream to show up on the appleTV?

Here's what I discovered after I experienced the same problem, i.e., could only see a limited number of photos in my photostream on my AppleTV. You need to go to your computer and open iPhoto. You will notice that your most recent photostream photos are the only ones included under the Photo Stream button. If you want to see more of your photos on AppleTV you need to move them from wherever they are located (for example, Last 12 Months) to Photo Stream. You cannot do this from your iPhone; you must enter iPhoto on your computer. I don't think you can fix this if you don't have Lion on your computer, but I could be wrong.
As for signing out of Photo Stream on Apple TV, you can do this on the Photo Stream page. The sign out is written in very small letters right above your photos.

  • Why does ipad's photostream overwrite older iphone photostream pictures

    Hello together,
When syncing photostream pictures between ipad and iphone, older iphone pictures get overwritten by those of my ipad. I think they have duplicate filenames... Any solution?
    Thanks a lot...

    Thanks!
So I think it will make sense to backup the whole Photo Stream from time to time. I was just wondering why pictures were deleted without any reason...
I think about upgrading my Dropbox to a 100GB Account, so that I don't have to think about backing up pictures or videos.
