Photostream on iMac not working after Yosemite

Upgraded all iPhones to the new 8.0 and iMac to Yosemite. Since then iPhone photo stream are working (slower and different names) however, no photos are being transferred to the iMac. Photo stream is turned on with all devices. This has never been a problem with the iMac since I purchased it in 2010. Apple used to work flawlessly and now its becoming troublesome.  After reading recent comments, I turned photo stream off and back on again with no avail. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi arogers77,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, Photo Stream isn't sending photos to the Mac. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you isolate or resolve the issue.

motion 4 will not work after yosemite upgrade

To be honest I do not use motion or any other compositing app so i do not miss it personally. However the new Motion is not that expensive, around $60 i think. Still, I understand your frustration.
I am afraid the more the OS is updated the less compatible certain applications will become.
    Good Luck

I have the same problem when I updated to OS X 10.10 I lost both my USB ports as far as they will not recognize anything that I plug into them.  The power part of the USB seams to work since it will recharge my Striiv Touch but nothing shows up when you connect anything to the ports.
I have tried a number of things from rebooting, trying other usb devices that work on other systems with no problems but will not work on my Macbook Pro.
    Any Help out there?

  • Share option for email does not work after Yosemite upgrade.

    Hi,
Does anybody know why the share option, "Share via email" does not work anymore after Yosemite upgrade?  I love this feature.  It's just quick and easy.
    Rod.

On Yosemite, Pages '09 v4.3 no longer recognizes the Share > Send Via Email categories. You will have to export and manually drag/drop/attach documents to Mail. There is no fix.

  • Camera not working after Yosemite Install 10.10.1 Macbook Pro early 2008

After installing Yosemite the camera does not work or even show up in system report. It appears not to be recognized at all by the OS. I have tried all of the suggested reset processes but no change. Any ideas?

    dannfort wrote: ... OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)...
Your OS X Yosemite (10.10.1) is not the latest version.
Even if you have already updated to 10.10.2 by a different method, do the following:
    • Restart Mac, repair disk permissions, then download and install OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 Combo Update.
    • Repair permissions again following the restart that completes the Combo Update.  Then try your camera again.

  • FaceTime Camera Not Working After Yosemite Upgrade

So After I upgraded to Yosemite yesterday, my FaceTime Camera stopped working.
Every time I turned on FaceTime or Photo Booth, the green light on the camera started to blink like crazy but nothing would show up on the screen. It was just black. And I tried different user too, not working.
I tried to reinstall Yosemite, no luck.
Tried to rest SMC and PRAM, no luck.
Tried safe boot, no camera in safe mode.
Tried repair disk permission, no luck.
Here is how it showed in system report, I thought it would be more details?
I am using MBP with Retina late 2013 model. I am 90% positive that the camera was working before this upgrade.
I don't know whether anyone else encounter the same problem and I am afraid it's something I installed that's causing the problem. In that case, even a clean install works fine, after I restore everything from Time Machine, the problem might just come back.
    Thanks!

You have done the right things.  With all you have tried, some third party item you have added is a very good guess as to what could be causing your trouble.  The biggest difficulty will be determining which installation caused the trouble.
I am certainly not experiencing your problem on any of my 10.10 Macs.
geoffreysong wrote: ... In that case, even a clean install works fine, after I restore everything from Time Machine, the problem might just come back...
Right again!  The way to prevent reinstalling the problem (and to prove your guess was correct) is to reinstall OS X using the OS X Yosemite: Erase and reinstall OS X instructions.
Next, before adding anything else, test your camera using the applicable suggestions from Apple's How to Troubleshoot iSight article.  (Over time, Apple has changed the built-in camera's name on newer Macs from "iSight" to "FaceTime" and then to "FaceTime HD."  Regardless of the name of your Mac's built-in camera, the same info and troubleshooting applies.)
      • If the camera works now, your suspicion is correct.  You can then add ONE needed app FROM ITS ORIGINAL SOURCE (not from any of your backups) and test the camera again.  If the camera fails, you have found the problem app.  If the camera works, continue adding apps one at a time, testing thoroughly between each addition.  After all your apps are added back, if your camera continues to work correctly, you can copy your data files back from your latest backup.
      • If the camera doesn't work immediately when nothing has been added to your fresh Mac OS X installation, you most likely have a hardware problem.  There are no user serviceable parts of the camera.  Contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.

  • Share via Mail not working after Yosemite upgrade

    Hi all,
I recently upgraded from Lion to Yosemite and now I cannot use the Send via Mail option in Pages (or Numbers for that matter).
I searched for this already in another tread but the answer (permission repair) did not work. The Exporting option still works, although it wants to save the file in a strange location, namely LIBRARY - CACHES - CLEANUP AT STARTUP - COM.APPLE.IWORK.PAGES.8572.TEMP.XXXXXXX    instead in DOCUMENTS or DESKTOP.
Any and all advice on this small but annoying inconvenience is welcome :-)
    Thanks
    Ray

Pages '09 v4.3 has lost this capability on Yosemite. Export to desired document format, and then drag/drop into Mail body.

  • WLan connected, iPad and iPhone internet ok, iMac not working after trying everything (manual ip etc...)

I am quite new with a mac computer. But i think i nearly tried everything, i have no idea what else could help...
My iPhone and iPad are working perfektly in the wlan. My iMac works very rarely. Yes it worked once by manual ip, but later it did not work again.
Wlan always works (sometmes it takes a few seconds until thesymbol is fat, mostly it starts with "no internet")
    I tried so many things...
    - manual ip found out by my windows pc
    - $ in front of the password
    - the apple faqs on the websites
Very strange, but i hope someone solved an comparable problem already ;)
    Thx!

I had a surfstick before, does that influence the whole thing?
And another thing: in other wlans the iMac worked perfectly... Without any manual settings etc.
    Anyone an idea?

  • Itunes not working after Yosemite update

    Hi folks, as for title.
I updated this morning to Yosemite OS X and everything was nice and dandy until I tried starting iTunes clicking on the icon in the dock..
Big surprise, nothing happens. Tried the usual stuff, permission repair, look into logs, re-install a fresh download all to no aval.
Clicking on the app doesn't get even a blip however, browsing into the .app bundle and clicking directly on the binary works.
Could anybody shed some light here?
    Thanks and regards
    /P

I found another thread on the same that didn't appear when I first searched the forum.

  • Spotlight and finder not working after Yosemite upgrade

    Hi,
    I just upgrade to 10.10.1 from 10.8 on a Mid 2012 Retina macbook pro, 2.7Ghz i7, 16GB RAM, 750GB SSD drive.
Since upgrading spotlight and finder have stopped working.  When I first upgraded I noticed it worked very briefly and found some of my applications, but now nothing.  The only thing it does is find the definition of the word I am searching for,
    I have
gone in to sys pref > spotlight added and remove all folders and rebooted the machine
gone in to sys pref > spotlight > privacy tab and ensured no folders are in that pane
gone in to sys pref > spotlight > privacy tab and added "documents folder" closed sys prefs rebooted and then removed "documents" folder to try and trigger a re index
gone to terminal and typed "sudo mdutil -E /" which should erase and rebuild the index but i get the error back "Error: Index is already changing state.  Please try again in a moment"
gone to terminal and typed "sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist" and then typed "sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist"
go to disk utility and verified my disk which comes back as showing no errors
logged in as another user but spotlight and finder still not working
Any other ideas my laptop is useless for work if I can't find anything,
    Thanks

unfortunately I this is still not working, thanks for the link Eric i tried those options, but still the problem remains.
I can clear the cache and re index my mac, and while the system is re indexing spotlight works and I can find material during the reindex.  This is obviously limited to the files that have been indexed at the point of using spotlight.
Once indexing has finished if I go to spotlight and try to search for anything, there are no results only the dictionary appears.
At the moment I have to delete the index cache every morning to trigger a re index so I can work, this is terrible and the worst upgrade experience I have had with any OS mac or windows

  • Bootcamp not working after Yosemite update

    Hi,
I have similar problem after updating to Yosemite, now  I can't boot into windows. There is no Windows option at startup when holding on ALT button and in disk utility, it showed Mac OS X partition with disks greyed out. I updated to Yosemite on my 11 inch Mac air and Mac Pro with no problem, before I decided to update my sons iMac (which has his school work) and ran into this problem. I remembered I use a third party program called Paragon NTFS. Could this be the problem?
    Please Help.

Hi, thank you for your time.
I tried the simpler fix, and when rebooted, the windows partition showed up when hold on the ALT key, but when i tried to load it, it say "missing operating system".
In OSX, i can't see the bootcamp partition under Finder or on the desktop.
TestDisk did finish analysing the drive, but i accidentally quit the program before i could look into the files, so now running test disk again. However I did save the Testdisk log file before running it again. Here is the log file, if it is any help:

  • Mail does not work after yosemite upgrade

I have two iMac desktops, one iMac 27" bought this year and another iMac 24" bought four years ago. I applied the Yosemite upgrade for both they were both running the Maverick with no problem at all), the new one works flawlessly but the old one has one problem with Mail, it won't send emails, it does receive them alright though. I tried using the service provider (Swisscom) repair tool and it says that all emails parameters are correct.
One thing strikes me: Whereas the new iMac received a visible new graphical upgrade of the Mail software (meaning a translucent background and different colors in the left column), the old 24" still has its old looking black and grey background showing that Mail was not (fully?) upgraded. Very frankly I dont care about the graphical upgrade as long as I can use my Mail programme.
Would anyone please help me to recover from this situation please? I do insist on the fact that all parameters of the email accounts are correct and were not changed at all. Thank you.

For those of you having email password issues, I'd suggest:
    1) Close your mail client (i.e. Apple Mail, Thunderbird, Outlook, etc).
    2) Launch "Applications" > "Utilities" > "Keychain Access.app"
    3) Select "login" from the sidebar top left area, then select "Passwords" in lower left area
    4) Click into the Search box in the upper right and search for your ISPs server names.  For example, type "aol" or "google" or "comcast", etc.
    5) Look through the search results for password entries related to your SMTP (outgoing) or IMAP/POP (incoming) mail servers.  Select them and delete them.
    6) Open your email client and try to receive mail, and then to send mail.  You should be prompted to enter your mail username and/or password.
Hopefully this might fix issues for those of you using mail clients that use Keychain for credential storage.

  • Thunderbolt Network Adapter not working after yosemite upgrade

After I upgraded to Yosemite, my MBP Retina 13" doesn't see the link on thunderbolt network adapter. The wireless is totally unreliable and freeze every few min for 1-2 min which is long enough to disconnect any sessions. Turn off and on of wireless works and recovers but it's royal pain. Any suggestions?
I scheduled call with Apple 3 times today. They call me back at the scheduled time and immediately tell me that I missed their call even though I pickup on 1st ring. Been waiting in their support queue for more than 30 min now and no one is on line yet.

the link provide above leads to  http://plugable.com/2014/10/31/os-x-10-10-yosemite-ethernet-adapter-problems-we- can-help
...but these seem to be all 3rd party USB ethernet adapters and nothing to do with the Thunderbolt adapter of the thread - or am I missing something?
I have the same blooming problem, it seems to be totally hit and miss whether the adapter works or not.
I thought is was a faulty adapter, so even bought a second one for my MacBook Pro, so a bit more profit for the most profitable company in the world for a non working device.  My ethernet cable works fine to an old apple USB adapter but is 90% useless with Thunderbolt.
Renewing the DHCP lease occasionally works, but totally unreliable, at the moment it fails.
Still looking for a reliable solution.
Come on Apple, please sort this out, you have a connector policy of turning everything you can into adapters and dongles rather than building them in, so you end up with a slim laptop and a bag of adapters to carry around, and then when they don't  even work - doubly annoying.

  • Logitech Smart Hub not working after Yosemite update

I do like what I have explored of Yosemite thus far. That being said, my Mac Mini - XBMC entertainment center is less than perfect now. After the Yosemite upgrade, the Smart Hub will not operate correctly in XBMC. This is likely a specific issue in regards to the IR component of the Mac Mini. I understand that Apple has decided to nix the IR ports on their newest OS. That's ok by me, but I want to re-enable this capability for more than a few reasons. I am certainly no techie, but I am willing to enter a simple command line to remedy the situation. I do not know where to begin. It'd be very nice if this could be done via Automater if possible, or even Applescript. This breakage is much like hiring a skilled elephant to paint the house. The painting he does is second to none - but he wrecks everything else. This is what Yosemite has done here, unintentionally damaging my media environment. Can anyone with some skill minus the elephant analogy help me out here?

Same issue here with my iMac, want to use it also for XBMC and the Apple Remote.

  • MacBook Pro Late 2011 Model - Does not work after Yosemite update

i recently updated my OS to Yosemite and had in problems for two days but yesterday it ceased to work in the middle of printing a document.
I need my laptop back up and running since I have school exams soon and vital information and files are in this laptop.
i Have never had a problem with the laptop before.
    Issues that I have had
logging in takes at least 20 minutes
cannot progress further than that, desktop is blank and nothing loads, only the dock.
    battery drains extremely fast
Safe boot does not even load
I've tried clearing that VRAM and the other one.
    Cannot access anything at all
This is appalling and at the worst possible time.

Please describe exactly what you're doing and what happens.
