Photostream slideshow - will photos automatically be added?
For a work project I need to stream and update photos to a television at a mall several miles away. I'd like to do that from here at my desk.
I'm thinking about buying an AppleTV and use that to run a photostream slideshow at the mall and manage the photostream from iPhoto at my desk.
My question is, will the AppleTV look for and add my new photos to the slideshow it's continuously playing?
For example, if I had the slideshow just running at the mall, and I went into iPhoto at my desk and dropped a photo into that photostream, would it get added to the AppleTV at the mall without me manually going there and restarting the slide show?
This solution won't work for me if I have to drive to the mall and manually restart the show every couple days.

I've actually seen this as well. Some update along the way must have fixed this issue. With my project, I've been driving to the mall to reset the show to get the new images. However, I've sometimes noticed that the new images are already in there. I'm glad to hear someone else noticed this as well.

This is my first post and I have yet to buy the iPad so the question is quite general.
My wife has spent many hours on the Windows Vista laptop sorting out photos and adding tags to them. We both think that an iPad would be a good thing for her to use.
Will these tags transfer to the iPad with the photos?
If they will transfer then will she be able to search through the thousands using the tags?
Will she be able to add tags using the iPad and will they transfer back to Windows with the photos?

NickWell I am reading the progress on your situation, trying to pick up some info. While I do not use the Elements starter edition, it has pretty much the same issues with transfereing catalogs from one machine to another and/or migrating from XP to Vista, as the other versions of Elements have.
I have been going through the gyrations of moving V4 on an XP machine to V6 on a Vista machine.
As suggested in other forums, I finally went to a two step process. First I added V6 to the XP machine that has the properly operating V4 on it. I did the conversion process to migrate the catalog to the V6 program. Yeah it does convert, but half the photos ( thousands) are disconnected. Reconnecting one and then doing a reconnect all does not work as suggested by others. Reconnecting all manually just aint going to happen.
I have tried the external hard drive thing and moved the catalog to the Vista machine but the results are the same.
While I am not an expert software person, I do have enough experience to know where the problem lies. It lies directly with Adobe and they have dropped the ball and put a seriously defective product on the market and so far have not fessed up the their responsibility. -

Ever since I had updated my phone to ios 6, i noticed that it no longer saved photos to my camera roll. If I take a picture on Instagram, it will not automatically save it to my camera roll as it used to do, nor does it save any image, I just want it fixed.
To gdgmacguy your a f****** idiot for one I'm having the same problem as pennymar. And you tell me to quit whinning. You got more problems then the iOS 6 you did not answer my question nor the other 13 or whatever you replied to within a 30 min time frame. You must got nothing better to do then to harass people and to pretend you know something about apple products. Which you don't from what I've read the other advices you should have gave to other people. But you didn't you replied a question back to the people asking a question. So if your not gonna use these community forums the right way don't use them at all.

Will LR3 automatically transfer keyword tags of photos created in PSE when importing the photos

The proper procedure is to have LR3 upgrade your PSE catalog. In Lightroom, File->Upgrade PSE Catalog. All your tags will show up in Lightroom as keywords. Couldn't be simpler!

If I help out a friend & download a free app (through my iTunes account) on their new iPod Touch, will their device automatically be added to my itunes device list (and they can see all my contacts, pix, music etc)?
Just wondering, what context is this in?
First up, is your iTunes account part of an iCloud account?
Secondly, if it's a free app, why don't they just download it? If they are having trouble finding it on the App Store, but you can find it easily, you can share the link for it via email with them, and if they view that email on their iPod they can just tap the link and it will open the App Store to that App for them, so they can download it themselves.
If you were to go to the Store settings pane and sign in with your iTunes account, that should only provide the possibility for download items from your iTunes account, such as purchased apps, music and movies. However, if you signed in, downloaded the app, and then went back and signed out of the account again, there shouldn't be any access apart from the app you downloaded. This is provided you sign in using the Store section of the Settings app, not the iCloud section.
One problem they will have if you download this in your account instead of theirs, in order to download updates for that app, they will need you to enter your iTunes password to download the updates. Doing that doesn't give them access to anythign to do with your account other than that update, but they will be unable to receive updates for it without your password. They would also likely be unable to sync the app onto their computer, as their computer would not be Authorised with your iTunes account.
If you can answer some of the questions I've asked, I may be able to suggest alternate ways for you get them the app on their device.

If Amazon has an API to add products to an Amazon store (and I'm fairly sure they do), you would just have to write code to submit your products via that API (probably using CFHTTP calls).

I'm afraid not. It's not rocket science but you need to do some coding.
You'll need to find a script (php) and save it to your local site folder. Then reference the script in your form's action attribute like so.

The input fields in your HTML form need to exactly match the script variables.
I'm assuming you're hosted on a Linux server which uses PHP code. Linux servers are also case sensitive, so upper case names are not the same as lower case names. It's usually best to use all lower case names in your form and script to avoid confusion.

My iMessage and Facetime won't activate, says waiting for activation. All photos and contacts are restored, using email and wifi only, no service. Only issue is date and time will not automatically set.

Will Photo Library Manager help without library file
I recently upgraded to Leopard and added ilife to upgrade my iphoto from a reeaaally old version. I imported photos from the old version and Iphoto was working fine a couple weeks ago. Today, however, when I tried to open it, I got the Choose Your Library message. There is no library listed, nor can I find one. I have not done anything to iphoto or the library file since it was last opened and working fine. Will Photo Library Manager help if there is no library file? Is the albumdata.xml file in the iphoto database or is it somewhere else in my computer? Surely the files are there somewhere! What else can I do? I have a back-up but it has run since I last opened iphoto and I can't find a library file in there either. What is the library file called? Maybe I'm not looking for the write thing...

If the library was inadvertantly moved to certain areas of the HD Spotlight will not find it. Download and run Find File to search for "Library6.iPhoto". If you get a hit it's a good chance it's the library. Good Luck.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete. -

How do I add a song from my itunes library to play while viewing the slideshow portion of my photos in Iweb'09? I have tried this numerous times throughout the day today but am getting nowhere.
Also, can I add a video portion of the Letterman Top Ten list to a page in my Iweb?
ThanksThat's not an option with iWeb. You can add a song to the photos page that will play automatically (and loop if desired) that would continue to play when the viewer clicks on the slideshow button. This demo page has such a setup.
I don't remember if Cyclosaurus (our resident javascript expert) had posted a solution via javascript and an HTML snippet. You might search the entire iWeb forums for posts by Cyclosaurus with a topic of slideshow music or something similar.

I have a recently acquired an iPhone 4. Is it true if I am using PhotoStream to upload photos to my PC via iCloud, photos are only pushed when wifi is available? This means I don't have to worry about extra data usage, right?

Photos are being added to my iPad, without choosing any events in iPhoto or having them sync with iCloud
I just upgraded to IOS6, and now my ipad is full of pictures I did not choose to sync.
I cannot delete them without deleting them from all sources.
Actually, the message is when I go to hit EDIT, select a picture, and then choose DELETE: "This photo is used in an album. Do you want to delete it everywhere? Delete Everywhere"
Does that mean "Everywhere" on my iPad, or everywhere including whatever place on my computer it found the photos to begin with?

To delete photos from your device
In iTunes, select the device icon in the Devices list on the left. Click the Photos tab in the resulting window.
Choose "Sync photos from."
On a Mac, choose iPhoto or Aperture from the pop-up menu.
On a Windows PC, choose Photoshop Album or Photoshop Elements from the pop-up menu.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
Click Apply.You can still sync the photos and keep the photos that are already on the device. You have to include all of the albums or events in the pictures folder that you sync from. If you are using iPhoto, select that in the Sync Photos from drop down menu and then select all of the albums or events that you want to sync. Make sure to check Selected Albums, events, faces and automatically include (no events). Using that option will allow you to choose exactly which albums and events to sync.
You have to remember that all photos must be included in every sync so you cannot sync photos from iPhoto today and then try to sync photos from another folder tomorrow, or you will erase all of the photos that were synced from iPhoto. You need to maintain one main Photos syncing folder for the photos that you want to transfer to the iPad. You can have subfolders within that one main folder and you can selectively sync those subfolders. You just have to place all of the photos that you want to sync into one main iPad syncing photos folder.
There are WiFi transfer apps that allow you to transfer photos to the iPad without having to sync with iTunes. I use this one. This app (and others like it) will allow you to use multiple computers to transfer photos.

The PhotoStream does not support renaming the files. It will use the filenames of the original image file. So the only option is to rename the files before sharing to My Photo stream or after downloading. You can batch change the titles using the command "Photos > Batch Change" and set the title to a format with date and time. Then export the versions and use the title as filename and reimport. Then share the renamed photos to your photo stream.
A rather tedious work-around, and it does not give you the exact format you want. There is no good way to do it, just like TD said.
