Moving slideshow with 100 plus images from iPhoto to iDVD

When creating a slideshow in iDVD you have a default limit of 99 images. This becomes a problem when trying to create a large slideshow with no interuptions. My partner and I almost figured out a way around that. We created the slideshow in iPhoto rather than iDVD and then went to the "Share" menu and selected "Send to iDVD" and it sent the slide show over to iDVD exactly how it was created in iPhoto. The problem is we want to make sure that all transitions from slide to slide and the music are smooth.
Please comment on this topic.
Also in iPhoto there is a default movement (simular to Ken Burns effect) that we can't figure out how to turn off. There is an option to turn on Ken Burns effect but not to turn off all image movement during show.Note: these movements are differnt than Transitions. Let us know your thoughts.

Instead of using iPhoto, how about using iMovie? Simply drag the photos from your desktop folder (if that's where the originals are located) directly into the clip pane of iMovie. Once the photos are in the clip pane, drag them into the time-line, then you can adjust the duration of each slide, add transitions and add music. This is the way I've always made slide shows and I have had excellent results. In iMovie, you can also easily adjust where the music aligns with the slides and overlap one song to the next. Also, if you drag the photos into iMovie directly (rather than using iPhoto), the Ken Burns effect will not be activated, which I think it is automatically if you import photos from iPhoto. But if you want the KB effect, I think you need to import the photo from iPhoto.

Creating a slideshow with narration

Hi,
I'm wanting to make a slideshow with narration over it recorded from a digital recorder. It looks like there are different apps/options for doing this but I'm wondering what the best way to go about it is. I guess my main concern would be just making sure the narration lines up with the slides. I'm a newbie to dealing with photos on a mac so any info is greatly appreciated.

Are you planning to burn the slideshow to DVD or simply view it on your Mac? If the former, then I would recommend you build your slideshow in iMovie 6. (If your Mac came with iLife '08 then you can download iMovie 6 free from Apple. It has better control of the audio track than iMovie 7.) That way you can see how your audio track lines up with your photos. You can edit the audio track somewhat in iMovie 6 (fade in, fade out) and lock an audio clip to a particular spot in the video timeline, to keep them synced the way you want.
You can also use GarageBand to edit the audio track of an iMovie project. I haven't tried this so can't comment on the advantages of this over doing it all within iMovie 6.
Many people complain that when using iPhoto to match the timing of their iTunes playlist to the timing of the slideshow that after exporting to iDVD the timing is not retained. That's another reason to use iMovie - the relationship between the video and audio tracks will be retained when you import the movie into iDVD.

Photostream slideshow - will photos automatically be added?

For a work project I need to stream and update photos to a television at a mall several miles away. I'd like to do that from here at my desk.
I'm thinking about buying an AppleTV and use that to run a photostream slideshow at the mall and manage the photostream from iPhoto at my desk.
My question is, will the AppleTV look for and add my new photos to the slideshow it's continuously playing?
For example, if I had the slideshow just running at the mall, and I went into iPhoto at my desk and dropped a photo into that photostream, would it get added to the AppleTV at the mall without me manually going there and restarting the slide show?
This solution won't work for me if I have to drive to the mall and manually restart the show every couple days.

I've actually seen this as well. Some update along the way must have fixed this issue. With my project, I've been driving to the mall to reset the show to get the new images. However, I've sometimes noticed that the new images are already in there. I'm glad to hear someone else noticed this as well.

How can I view all comments in a Pages doc and print the doc with comments?

It seems that we can no longer view comments in the margin of a document. It is also not possible to print the document with comments visible. Anyone else having this problem? Pages 09 Help does not even offer an up-to-date explanation. "Show Comments" only shows color shading. The option “Show Comments and Changes Pane" does not even exist. How can I get the comments to print???

You will have to wait for Apple to fix this deficiency in a forthcoming update to Pages v5. Or, you could use Pages ’09 v4.3, if originally installed before the v5 upgrade, and located in /Applications/iWork '09.
Otherwise, use another solution (e.g. Office for Mac 2011, LibreOffice).

You can't, simply. An iPhoto Slideshow can only draw from a single library, so you'll need to get all the images into one.
Alternatives to iPhoto's slideshow include:

It's difficult to compare these apps. They have differences in capability - some are driven off templates. some aren't. Some have a wider variety of transitions. Others will have excellent audio controls. It's worth checking them out to see what meets your needs. However, there is no doubt that Final Cut Pro X is the most capable app of them all. You get what you pay for.

A few different ways about this. You could split the slide show into smaller sections that are withi the limits for posting and then post each section.
You could try a different encoding to make the file smaller. What settings did you use when you created and exported the slide show?

Will an iPhoto slideshow with music work on all computers in China?

I am making a promotional DVD for an education program in the US, and taking it to China to education fairs. If it is an iPhoto slideshow with music, will it work on all Chinese computers? I assume so, because since it is not video, I should not have to worry about different formats-right? I've got enough to worry about on this trip!

On every single computer in China? Impossible to tell. But if you create a slideshow in iPhoto and send it to iDVD to be burned to a DVD then it will play on anything that plays DVD.

When you installed Pages v5, it automatically moved the older Pages ’09 v4.3 into /Applications/iWork '09 folder. If you want normal comment interoperability, you are advised to resume using the older version of Pages. Newer, is certainly not better with Pages v5.

I click on photo and then slideshow settings.Slide is set to three seconds.I click on slideshow music and then click on now playing.Slideshow does not start when i go back to a picture group and no music.What am I doing wrong or is this not a function of my ipod nano?

Is photostream compatible with windows 8? I installed windows 8 on my computer now my photo's won't save to photostream on the computer they do on the phone just not the computer?

Apple told me 8 was compatible after spending 4 hours on the phone with them in total. My laptop is an acer Aspire. In the end they said it is probably is my network that is the problem with photostream not syncing. How can it be my network when photostream works perfectly well when i use my husbands computer with windows 7. Also last night I removed icloud from my windows 8 laptop (not syncing photostream anyway) and installed Acer cloud which now supports IOS so happy to say my phone now syncs photos perfectly to my windows 8 acer aspire laptop.

Print with Comments shuts down Adobe Acrobat 9.5

When I select Print with Comments or Summarize Comments, I see a pop-up window reading "Adobe Acrobat 9.5 has stopped working. Windows is checking for solution..." It doesn't matter what options I select for printing the comments. It happens every time. Any suggestions?

Leider kann aich weder in der Firewall noch im Virenscanner irgnd einen Hinweis finden. Auch in den jeweiligen Protokollen kann ich nichts über eine Blockierung finden, die irgend etwas mit dem Problem zu tun haben scheint. Und in der Registry die richtigen Einträge zu identifizieren, zu analysieren und ggf. zu bearbeiten geht über meine Kenntnisse zu Windows doch eindeutig hinaus. Ich möchte das System eigentlich ja "nur" benutzen.
Ich habe jetzt einen anderen Ansatz aufgegriffen und schlichtweg die ganze CS4 de- und dann wieder neu installiert (Acrobat allein reichte nicht). Jetzt funktioniert wieder alles. Zwar bin ich jetzt wieder bei Acrobat 9.0 pro, aber das reicht für meine Zwecke. Ich sehe nur mit etwas gemischten Gefühlen dem vorhersehbaren Versuch entgegen, dass Acrobat sich selbst wieder auf v.9.5 updaten möchte. Ich muss sehen, dass ich das verhindere, dann habe ich vielleicht eine dauerhafte Chance. Immerhin hat das Programm ja unter Windows XP einige Jahre lang einwandfrei getan.

BUG in Oracle SQL Developer 3.0.04 on the "generating DLL" with comments?

I'm newbie on oracle, but I think that I found out a bug in Oracle SQL Developer version 3.0.04 on the "generating DLL" tool using "comments".
I will describe the steps that I gave:
I created a view, but after I test it I had to change my “where” condition, so I comment the old code and then I wrote the new “where” condition below. After I done that I tried to look at the sql code of my view using “generating DLL” tool, but oracle sql developer only shown me half of the code, a lot of code were missing. Then I began with some test trying to understand what happen and I notice that if I put an invalid sql code in my comment the generating DLL start working with no problems, for example(pseudo-code):
(COMMENT WITH VALID SQL CODE the "Generating SQL" don't work:)

I believe that "Generating DLL" tool have some problem with the comments, I also used /*...*/ to comment but the problem is still active.
I notice as well that if I started to add some more comments along the code, the conditions migth change, so I think the problem is related with "comments" code.
Would you mind telling me if this is a real bug or if I'm doing anything wrong.

Thank you for reporting this. The only bug I see currently logged on a comment affecting the generated View DDL involves ending the last line of the definition with a comment, which treats the ending semi-colon (even if on a different line) as part of the comment. That is actually related to a low-priority bug against an Oracle database API.
Unfortunately, your pseudo-code is a bit complex. Trying a few quick, simpler tests against the standard HR schema did not reproduce the issue. I tried INNER JOIN, and nested SELECTs. It would help greatly if you could provide a test case compilable against one of the standard schema, like HR or SCOTT.
