PhotoStreamAgent and outgoing traffic

Hi,
Yesterday I have started iPhoto for the first time on my rMBP (Mountain Lion) and tried to use PhotoStream to get the photos from my iPhone. After this first launch iPhoto has quickly became non-responsive and I had to kill and restart it. Eventually I have got my pictures. Later in the evening I have noticed that my laptop was quite hot. Very hot. Like never before. And not very responsive also. I used it for a while and then closed it. This morning I wanted to quickly check a few things and noticed that everything was quite slow and, most importantly, the network speed was pathetic. I did a quick speed test with my internet provider and found that the download speed was very low and the upload speed was almost negative Later today when I got back home I have decided to start investigating. First of all, I found on my router that my outgoing link (DSL) is used at almost 100% constantly. Obviously, in this situation the download speed suffers too as TCP becomes les efficient. Quickly I have found that the source of the traffic is my MBP. And then I have quickly found the suspect - PhotoStreamAgent. It was uploading the data over HTTPS to something.amazonws.com and also to another site (something with "dns" in its name) - also via HTTPS. Non-stop. I have killed it immediately and to verify the origin of this beast tried to start iPhoto. Yes, that was it - iPhoto starts this agent and it immediately starts uploading something like crazy making my network almost unusable. Had to kill it again. Considering the spees it has uploaded over 1Gb of data since yesterday. I have about 3Gb of photos and videos in total but they have been _downloaded_ from my iPhone to my Mac.
I am puzzled....right not I find iPhoto unusable and consider disabling PhotoStream for good.

Just come across this as I have same problem.
Got a macbook pro, imac, ps3, smart tv and multiple ios devices. Had to disable access to each of the devices and narrowed it down to my iMac. Ran rubbernet on that and photostreamagent was uploading at 300kb/s. No new photos added so god knows what it was sending.
I quit it in activity monitor but this is just a quick fix. Did you find a permenent one?

  • Incoming and Outgoing traffic security in IPv6

                       Hi,
We have a customer and we need to existing IPv4 Network to IPv6. As Natting has been removed from IPv6 and IPSEC is a mandatory feature in IPv6.
I want to know, when my inside network will go outside world then It will carry the Exact inside / Local or Private Network Address. So Outsider user can easily hack or view my inside Network ip address and can access the Core Network.
So, what we can implement in IPv6, so my inside traffic natted with some other global or Public network, so outside user can not use my local ip addresses.
    Kindly confirm.

when the IPv6 packet flows over the network and Internet it will carry the same Inside local addresses which is not secure
In fact it is not more secure, it only seems so. The security comes from strict filtering rules and possibly various deep packet inspection mechanisms that are also IPv6 aware.
But you can use NAT if you want. There are devices that can do NAT on IPv6. The Cisco ASA is one of them and probably there are some more on the market.

  • Incoming and Outgoing router traffic

    Hi everybody,
What exactly is the concept of incoming and outgoing traffic at one particular router interface? Can outgoing traffic be considered as the traffic forwarded from that interface to another interface?
    Cheers
    Aditya Naidu

imagine an interface has two doors.
    || interface ||
thus packet flowing towards the interface would be considered "in",
    --> || interface || <--
alternatively, packet flowing the opposite direction would be considered "out",
    <-- || interface || -->
now, let have a look at the router with 2 interfaces.
    || interface 1 || -- routing process -- || interface 2 ||
packet originated from subnet connected to interface 1 destined for the subnet connected to interface 2:
    --> || interface 1 || --> --> || interface 2 || -->
    in other words,
the packet firstly flows "in" interface 1, "out" interface 1, "in" interface 2, and finally "out" interface 2.

  • RV016 (V3) tcp and udp outgoing traffic issue

    Hi everyone.
I've got a CISCO RV016 connected to a tooway SAT modem and need  to reach another router connected in DSL
I need to make a TCP connection on port 8080 with my audio codec to reach the other side, and get audio.
I do not feel comfortable with all the security process, firewall, forwarding port and so on ...
What do I need to do to make the RV016 let the TCP out ?
do I need to create rules ?  do I need to modify the firewall factory settings ?
does UDP outgoing traffic need some rules too ?
    Thank's for your help.

  • Ironport - Incoming and Outgoing relay

    Hi,
    for my understanding:
    1) incoming mails and outgoing mails will be classified by the HAT
    2) HAT entry with relay decision classifies as "outgoing"
    Now my problem:
i am using the same relay server for incoming and outgoing messages. So, my ironport gets the messages for both direction from the same device.
    Question:
does anybody see a solution to do so? at the moment all messages will be classified as incoming or outgoing (depends what is configured in HAT). Anybody using the same relay for both directions before?

    Hi Asffe,
You a can have an single HAT for outbound and inbound email. At the top of the HAT you must have the a "RELAY"" action specifing the internal email server. When the traffic comes inbound it should hit any of the other entries on the HAT depending of what type of email it is.
Take a look to the deployment guide.

  • Ipowerweb and outgoing mail server issues

getting my POP account on my iPhone to send mail successfully has proven to be difficult.
why is it that on my old Nokia E61 my incoming and outgoing mail server settings "mail.mydomain.net" worked regardless of whether i was on edge or wifi -- yet on my iPhone the only way i can send email is to turn wifi off, and input "cwmx.com" as my outgoing mail server and send sloooowly over edge?
i guess my question is, what is different about the way the iPhone connects to different servers, if my old phone did not have any issues with it at all - and how can i remedy this? shouldnt it be as simple as sycing the settings from my POP account on my G5? what am i missing here...and is this specific to ipowerweb hosting?
    thanks

    aegez,
As a point of clarification, if you are going to use Port 25 on EDGE you have to use cwmx.com. Many networks filter port 25 traffic because of port 25 traffic has been abused by people sending unsolicited bulk email (aka spam). AT&T's EDGE network is not the only network to filter port 25.
The iPhone in some situations will try other common ports, many of which will require authentication.
If you are using an outgoing mail server that requires authentication on a port besides port 25 it should work on both WiFi and EDGE in most situations. The exception would be on networks that filter traffic on all ports as a security major, such as some work environments.

  • I upgraded the software on my Time Capsule and outgoing mail stopped on my Mac Air

    Hi
I upgraded the software on my Time Capsule and outgoing mail stopped on my Mac Air
My colleagues are using my Time Capsule on their Mac Air (with Lion OS System) and Dell with MS OS System.
I am on OS X 10.6.8 and was sucessfully using SMTP for outgoing mail .... after my update for the Time Capsule, Mail on my Mac Air stopped
    Why?
    Thanks in advance
    Jan

    Hi Garmulewicz,
Can you tell us a little bit about the SMTP service? What port is it set to use? Authentication SMTP? Have you tried manually sending over Port 25, 587 or 465? If you bypass the Time Capsule can you confirm that SMTP traffic still works behind the same modem?
I've personally never seen an update break SMTP, that would imply that the update somehow is blocking the port where SMTP is occurring. What if you configure a personal GMail account or something else, does that work?

  • Log every incoming messages and outgoing messages in OSB

    Hi,
There is a customer who owns a service platform with hugely traffic.
We wants to sell him the OSB.
But he wants to keep record of every incoming and outgoing messages in the platform, so if there is any problem in the platform, he can quickly identify the problem.
Is there any function or tool to do this feature in OSB?
    Thanks for any suggestion!

He wants log all incoming and outgoing messages and related information (ex: message id) into DB, so his administrators can easily track down specfic messages. For these type of use cases we provided report action. OSB comes with default report provider , but you can as well right one if out of box report provider doesnot t not suite you requirements. http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13159_01/osb/docs10gr3/operations/reporting.html
Other option would be to use WebLogic Logging Services to capture the proper log information and store to DB. I remember log4j has that ability. http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs103/logging/logging_services.html

  • E3000 -- No OUTgoing traffic logged

I noticed that no OUTgoing traffic was being logged by my E3000. I tried WW and even sent some raw logs to the dev and he confirmed the same.
During a recent online chat with a Cisco|Linksys rep., I was told that the E3000 does NOT support logging of OUTgoing traffic at this time. He then mentioned that it might be available in a future FW update. My FW version is: 1.0.01 build 6  Apr. 15, 2010.
The reson I mention this is that I have been reading messages from users who have been logging OUTgoing traffic with their E1000 and E2000 routers. If this is the case, then is the E3000's firmware that different?
    Flashfox

Working fine here...  same firmware version, build 6.

  • I need help blocking outgoing traffic.

I need to block all outgoing traffic on port 8008 to a specific IP address. I have been told by the guys at the genius bar that this can be done but I can't make it happen. This is imperative to my work. I am currently being blacklisted by my web host every ten minutes because something which can't be identified on our network is probing our web hosts IP using port 8008. I know this can be done on other wireless routers but I can't find how to do it on my 802.11n Extreme. There are several advantages to the extreme and I would like to continue to use it but I can't if I can't block that port.
    Can someone please help me?

That's completely stupid. Why on earth does apple even make a router if they are not capable of keeping it up to par with other routers on the market. I admit it has several neat features but they are useless if I can't use it. Guess I'll have to use a cheapo Netgear router. They will at least allow me to block a port if I so desire.

  • How to change my password and my incoming and outgoing mail servers

Hi I have used Outlook Express for years and I know how to configure "everything" I need within the settings pages because their settings pages are all "logical" with everything out in the open.
However, Thunderbird "hides" their settings behind buttons and confusing screens.
There are many tutorials that explain how to set up Thunderbird from the beginning, and show how to set up a new email account. But I have not been able to find a tutorial on how to change my email account password "after" I have been using Thunderbird for awhile.
I also see no way to change the incoming and outgoing servers. For example, I have changed from one hosting company to another hosting company and I need to use the new mail servers from the new hosting company and I do not see any tutorials anyplace that cover ongoing or day-to-day activities with Thunderbird.
Can you please change your settings screens to make Thunderbird easier for new people to find these normal and necessary items?
Also can you please point me to a tutorial that shows me how to change my email account password and change my incoming and outgoing servers?
    Thanks so much!
    Edward

If you wan to create an account, you must the delete the existing account.
So take backup of your emails if your using POP3
Two ways you can do it
*Copy all the emails to Local folder
*Back up your Mail folder from your profile

  • INCOMING AND OUTGOING EXCISE INVOICE REQUIREMENT

    HI,
My client requires, while doing the Incoming and outgoing excise invocies based on material type  traded goods and rawmaterial goods, they want to hit different GL accounts based on the materials(traded and rawmaterial separately).  Since
excise transaction type is one, how can we achieve this,  Is it possible to do the above requirement. How can we configure different gl's for th same excise transaction type based on the different materials.
    Please advice.
    Regards
    Aditya

    Hi,
The incoming and outgoing exise invoices are not exposed in DI as there are a part of the Indian Localization. So I guess its not possible to create that document with DI API.
Check the following note for a similar thing https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/smb_searchnotes/display.htm?note_langu=E&note_numm=1078102

  • How can I stop Mail from automatically archiving every incoming and outgoing email?

Mail is automatically archiving every incoming and outgoing message, and then synch'ing that with my iPhone -- thus sucking up all available memory.  I have never asked it to automatically archive everything, and can't figure out how to stop it.  Any ideas?

    Launch Mail.
    Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Advanced
Uncheck the box beside "Include when automatically checking for new messages".
Do it for all accounts if you want.
    Best.

  • I just bought this iPhone 4S second hand and during incoming and outgoing calls I can't hear the other person talk unless it's on speaker or if I have headphones in. I don't know what to do I've turned up my volume and checked my settings!! Need help

I Just bought a second hand iPhone 4S I am having issues with the hearing during incoming and outgoing calls, I have turned the volume up and checked my settings but I still have trouble hearing the other person speak. It works if it's on speaker or if I have headphones plugged in. I need help desperately!!!!! Any suggestions on what to do???

    Hey Itsanaasaunders,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues hearing sound while on a call (receiver wise, not speakerphone). The following resource provides troubleshooting steps for this symptom:
If you can't hear a person on a call or voicemail or if the sound quality is poor on iPhone - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203800
    Clear the receiver
The iPhone receiver won't work properly if it's blocked or dirty. Here's where the receiver is:
Follow these steps, testing after each:
    - Make sure nothing is blocking the receiver, such as a case or film.
If you have a new iPhone, remove the plastic film on the front and back of the device.
    - Check the receiver opening to see if it's blocked or dirty. If necessary, clean the receiver opening with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush.
    - While you're on a call, turn on speakerphone. If you still can't hear, then your network or reception could be the issue. Try calling again later or from a different location.
    Restart and update
    1. Restart your iPhone and test again.
    2. If there's still no sound or poor sound quality, update to the latest version of iOS.

If you've tried these steps and there's still no sound or poor sound quality from your iPhone, contact Apple Support.

  • Question the relationship between AR invoice and Outgoing payment

    Dear All,
Does anyone the know the the relationship between AR invoice and Outgoing payment? because I would like to print the report in specific date range. For example, today is 02 July 2009. I want to print "AR invoice as at 31 Mar 2009", by using SQL. It seems like date back.
    From Samson

    Hi Samson,
Even i haven't done much r n d  bout this but what i came to know is that, there might be a scenario where you may want to make a payment to your customer. In this case we can use the Outgoing payment for the same. The system doesnt stop you from doin so. I have seen this in SAP B1 2005B, PL34.
