Photsmart 5520 gives message cartridge for older generation of printer

I only use hp cartridges and these are all 364 as used on my previous 5520!
But the message says cartridge for an older generation of printer
Help

Hi,
The HP 364 ink cartridges only have the warranty end date listed on it, it never list a manufacturing date.
Follow the guidelines below, the Do I have the updated cartridges? section explain how to identify an updated cartridge, either with its packing material or without it:

  • "Older Generation of Printer" Message

I have just replaced the Black 61 XL cartridge in my Envy 4500 All-in-One.  I removed the old/spent cartridge, which had been working fine, and replaced it with a new identical purchased-at-the-same-time cartridge.  I now get a message that says, "Cartridge for older generation of printer."  These are both remanufactured cartridges.

The cartridge that works and the one that does not are not likely identical.  As noted in my previous post there were some changes made in 2012.  Cartridges with an expiration date earlier than April 1, 2014 are the older generation cartridges.  What are the dates on the "good" and "bad" cartridges?
If the cartridge has been removed from the packaging and opened, check the Warranty Ends date on the cartridge.
HP 61 and HP 802: if the Warranty Ends date is 2014/04/01 or later, then the cartridge is the updated version.
HP 122 and HP 301: if the Warranty Ends date is 2014/07/01 or later, then the cartridge is the updated version.

  • I bought a 364 XL cartridge for my Photosmart 6510 printer, but it doesn't fit.

I bought a 364 XL cartridge for my Photosmart 6510 printer, but it doesn't fit—it's too wide. Yet the User Manual I downloaded from HP (helpfully called c02983796) clearly shows an illustration of the XL cartridge fitting in the printer. Advice?

    Hi,

If your ink cartridge is the older ink cartridge you shoulf contact the retailer to replace it.

  • Does Apple offer battery replacement programs for older generation ipods?

Hi, I was wondering if they offer the service for a 5.5g 80gb ipod. If they do, would they replace it with another 5.5g 80gb ipod? If they don't, I will hate the company since I got my ipod for less than 2 years and the battery is almost completely dead.

I was wondering if they offer the service for a 5.5g 80gb ipod.
Yes they do have the service but it's far cheaper to go somewhere else (ipodresq.com or ipodjuice.com) or do it yoursself.
If you really want Apple to do it (~$60 vs. ~$20 DIY), go here -> https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do
If they do, would they replace it with another 5.5g 80gb ipod?
No, they would replace your battery and send you the same iPod back.
If they don't, I will hate the company
    What are you, 13?

  • PRCS SQR gives different format for (1) directly to printer (2) Web PDF

I am running an SQR via process scheduler producing a report.
The format and size are FINE when i run it directly to the printer. Command is below:
    %TOOLBINSRV%\PSSQR.EXE -CT ORACLE -CS %SERVER% -CD PS89C -CA %ACCESSID% -CAP %ACCESSPSWD% -RP NFCNT002 -I 161118 -R REFRESH -CO PSKT -OT 2 -OP \\nfbprint\SDT-INF-3 -OF 4 -LG ENG
However, when I run and have it sent on the WEB with format PDF, the format is different
The format is the same as above but about 40% smaller size.
Different for when i open and see, and for when I print
Anyone knows if there is an extra setup of step that i could add either on when running SQR on prcs, or on opening the file with Adobe acrobat ?
    Thanks

Which one looks better, the web or printed?
Seems like we had a similar problem a while back and the issue was with some scaling settings/preferences in the Acrobat Reader.

  • Can I use Replacement Printer ink cartridges for HP officejet Pro 8610

I recently purchased an HP OfficeJet Pro 8610. I previously had an 8600. They both use the same ink cartridges. I had just installed some remanufactured 950 XL and 951 XL cartridges in the old printer and tried to use them in the new printer. Of course I got an error message that cartridges weren't HP but the printer would still work. I would like to know if I can use other remanufactured ink cartridges with the new printer or if there is some way for the printer to allow me to use other ink cartridges as the HP cartridges are way over priced for the consumers. I hope there is a person out there that is conservative like me and tries to find the best bargains on everything. Your solutions would be appreciated. I waited on HP Support Assistant for 10 minutes with a dialogue I would be connected to a technician in less than a minute. They must have been on break or some other excuse, so I thought I would try this instead. Blessings. John Richardson

    Hey @rockhoundjohn
Here's the thing, yes, you can refill your cartridges or use remanufactured cartridges, but you may run into problems.
QualityLogic, one of the world's foremost quality assurance organizations, tested the performance of HP inkjet print cartridges vs. remanufactured (refilled) brands. The results: original HP inkjet print cartridges far surpassed ink refills in both print quality and reliability.
Nearly one out of every six refilled ink cartridges tested was dead on arrival or failed prematurely
70% of refilled cartridges had some form of reliability problem
Count on HP original ink cartridges for consistent, worry-free printing. You may think you're saving money on remanufactured or refilled ink cartridges, but in the long run, the cost of wasted time, ink, and paper can more than make up the difference.  - Source
Most people think, 'well of course that is what HP or an HP representative would say', but I have done some research and found that many others have too. Here is a perfect example of somebody who does not work for HP in any way and basically is a customer advocate (in my opinion) ; Should you refill your printer’s ink cartridges? HP says no (of course) By Matthew Murray
I found the above article interesting and genuine.
My personal recommendation is to buy the HP XL cartridges as they are more cost efficient, and be mindful in the printer you choose when buying an inkjet. The 8610 was a good choice. The expected page yield of the HP 950XL High Yield Black Original Ink Cartridge is 2300 pages. The regular size cartridge page yield is 1000, still good but the XL is by far a better value. Some of the Photosmart printers or Deskjets are great for what they are intended for, but do not have as good of a cost per page.
HP's recommendation; Keep in mind that page yield is just one component of cost, and that factors such as quality, reliability, productivity, and efficiency affect cost as well. Products that work reliably will ultimately save you time and money. When you choose an inkjet printer, make sure you consider your individual printing needs.
    - Source
To summarize, again, yes you can refill the cartridges. The printer is not programmed to reject them. Sometimes the cartridges will not work and of course because they are non HP, HP would not be able to do anything to help. HP cartridges have a 2 year manufacture warranty; Limited Warranty for HP Ink Cartridges and Customer-Replaceable Printheads for HP Inkjet Supplies, this may give you comfort knowing HP stand behind their product.

Unable to charge my Ipad 4 with my Laptop (HP 7010tx) USB . I am Getting error message as "Not Charging" . Please give a solution for this ...???

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. I bought a new HP Photosmart 7520. When changing the photo black inkt cartridge I used one of the catridges I bought some time ago for my former printer.  The cartridge is from the 364 series, the production date (?) stamped on the box reads IRELAND Oct 2010.  The printer does not accept the cartridge displaying an error message which (translated from Dutch) reads: Incompatible older generation cartridge installed.  Does this mean that I have to through away the 364 cartridges I still have left?

  • How to use only for scanning without installing printer cartridge

I have an old all in one and want to use it only for scanning without installing printer cartridge. I get the red signal of no i9nk and "E" msg in copy no button. If I give scanning request from HP solutions centre I get an error message " An error occured while communicating with thescanning device"

Hello , Welcome to the HP Community! I understand that you are trying to scan on your HP Deskjet F380 All-in-One Printer without having cartridges installed. I'd like to shed a little light on this for you. Some HP printers are able to scan without ink installed, but most do not. If the cartridge lights on the product are blinking and there is an "E" in the copies window, then the printer is in an error state and will not function until cartridges are installed. If the printer is in an error state, that would describe the message you are getting that "An error occured while communicating with the scanning device", as the printer would not respond when prompted by the software. You can check the blinking light combination on the printer and follow the steps in this document to resolve the error state and continue using the device.Blinking Lights on the HP Deskjet F300 All-in-One Printer Series Hope this helps! Thanks so much for posting.

  • Does Apple plan to discontinue support/update for 2nd Generation iPod touch as latest iOS release for it is 4.2.1?

I have 2nd Generation iPod touch and latest iOS release for it is 4.2.1. Most of the Apps on iTunes now require iOS 4.3 at minimum. Isn't it outrageous that Apple is not supporting such iOS update for older iPod? Is there plan to discontinue such support?

I have a 2nd generation iPod Touch too and I currently have 24 Apps that I cannot update. Unlike you however, I hold the App developers responsible for the fact that they (the App developers) are not supporting iOS 4.2.1.
It is the App devloper who decides to modify their App so that it then requires a particular version of the iOS. Since a developer can have a free and a paid version of an App, it begs the question why don't they have the older and newer versions.
I now check the requirements for an App before I click on update. If it still only requires iOS 4.2.1, then I can update. If it requires a higher iOS, the I simply don't update it. One good thing is that by now, most of the older Apps are quite stable and bug free, so the update is usually to give something extra. Since I cannot update the App, I simply forgo the "extras".

  • LabView Exe Application file not launch Excel application for report generation

    Dear All,
I created one LabVIEW application file for report generation (using Excel Template).
While I run the program in programming mode it works well and create the report file in the specified path.
After creation of the application file(exe), it gives the correct path of where the excel template is placed. The same path is given to New Report.vi, but it gives the error 'File Not Found'.
Tell me, is any other configuration required for generating Excel reports? (During exe application mode)
    Give me the solution.
    Thank You
    Jegan.

    Hello,
Most likely you are encountering a problem of stripping and/or building paths.  Probably the easiest thing to do is put a couple indicators on your front panel for the path or paths you care about, build your exe, and make sure you are really using the path you'd like.  If you always put the report at some deterministic place relative to the exe (that is, even it the exe is moved, it will go with the exe and remain in the same relative path location, then you can use the Current VIs Path funtion found in the ... File I/O -> File Constants palette as a start path (where you will want to strip at least the exe name off of course).
I think this will bring some clarity to the issue!
