PHP and Forms

I'm just getting started using PHP and I was wondering if anyone is using PHP to control access to Forms?
I found a good article at http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/notes/technote_as_signoff.html that discusses using PHP to create a custom SSO login & sign off page but I'd like to extend this to a menmu of forms & reports that a user has access to once they login using SSO.

Douglas,
in this case all you need to do is to generate the page based on a user ACL list, which can be vaues stored in the database.

    My wife has left me for four weeks, favouring to be with our son who lives 4,000 km away. I now have to cook for myself and the steaks taste horrible. What am I doing wrong?
    If you do not know what I have (not) done to make the steak taste horrible, my question is as hard to answer as your question above.
    Please give us more info like giving us the code that sends the page to the homepage rather than to the previous page.

    All this does is produce a list of all the fields in the database in a long list so we can choose which fields to print.
    As this list is now growing as we have added a lot more fields to the database ... is there anyway we could split it into say 3 columns?
    Ideally the first column would be all the personal details - i.e. down to DPA Signed - Second column would be the other badges and the third column different depending on the section.
    On the data input page we have different badges depending on section. Using the following code:
    if ($action=='add' || ($action=='edit' && (UserRead($yp['section']) || UserAdmin()))) {
    $yp_section_query = mysql_query("SELECT name FROM csg_section WHERE section=".tc($yp['section'])) or die("<b>MySql Error:</b>".mysql_error());
    $yp_name = mysql_fetch_assoc($yp_section_query);
    $yp_name = $yp_name['name'];
    $yp_section = (strstr($yp_name,"Scout")) ? 1 : (strstr($yp_name,"Cub") ? 2 : 3) //If has word 'scout' -> 1. Else If has word 'cub' -> 2 Else 3 (beaver)
    ?>
    <form action="yp2.php" method="post">
    <input type="hidden" name="yp" value="<?php echo $yp['yp_id']; ?>">
    <input type="hidden" name="section" value="<?php echo $yp['section']; ?>">
    could we use this on the print page to show different badge list depending on section in the third column??
    Many Thanks,
    Steve

    I am not sure how it looks familiar ... are you in Scouting too?
    So can i just create columns and put the different bits in each column?
    How can I sort by database - sorry I am a bit of a novice when it comes to php and coding, etc.
    Also was it able to filter depending on section?
    Many Thanks,
    Steve

  • PHP email form - issue with who it's from

    Hi,
    I've got a referral page on my site where the user puts in their details and a friends details and the form fires off a email to the friend. The form is in HTML and posts it to a PHP file. The problem is I get in the email for who it's from:
    from
    "Scott Bradshaw"@server74.ukservers.net
    I don't want the
    @server74.ukservers.net
    in their.
    Is this an issue with PHP files and forms or is their a way round it? I know I could do a mailto: form but don't want to. What are my options?
    Thanks, Scott

    I'm making the website for someone and they had the hosting set up already but thanks for telling me. I think this is right what I've done:
    function detectSuspect($val, &$ok) {
      if (preg_match('/Content-Type:|Cc:|Bcc:/i', $val)) {
        $ok = false;
    $YourName = Trim(stripslashes($_POST['YourName']));
    $YourEmail = Trim(stripslashes($_POST['YourEmail']));
    $RefName = Trim(stripslashes($_POST['RefName']));
    $RefEmail = Trim(stripslashes($_POST['RefEmail']));
    $EmailFrom = $YourEmail;
    $Subject = $RefName;
    $EmailTo = $RefEmail;
    // validation
    $validationOK=true;
    detectSuspect($YourName, $validationOK);
    detectSuspect($YourEmail, $validationOK);
    detectSuspect($RefName, $validationOK);
    detectSuspect($RefEmail, $validationOK);
    if (!$validationOK) {
      print "<meta http-equiv=\"refresh\" content=\"0;URL=error.html\">";
      exit;
    // prepare email body text
    $Body = "Hi $RefName,
    $YourName thought you would be interested in viewing this online video called A
    tale of 2 customers (< 3 mins).
    www.easybench.org/ataleof2customers3";
    $Body2 = "";
    $Body2 .= "User Name: ";
    $Body2 .= $YourName;
    $Body2 .= "\n";
    $Body2 .= "User Email: ";
    $Body2 .= $YourEmail;
    $Body2 .= "\n";
    $Body2 .= "Referral Name: ";
    $Body2 .= $RefName;
    $Body2 .= "\n";
    $Body2 .= "Referral Email: ";
    $Body2 .= $RefEmail;
    $Body2 .= "\n";
    // send email
    $success = mail($EmailTo, $Subject, $Body, "From: $EmailFrom<$EmailFrom>");
    mail("[email protected]", "Referral details", $Body2, "From: [email protected]");
    // redirect to success page
    if ($success){
      print "<meta http-equiv=\"refresh\" content=\"0;URL=thankyou2.html\">";
    else{
      print "<meta http-equiv=\"refresh\" content=\"0;URL=error.html\">";
    ?>
    I've also got a feedback form thing too, the script above wouldn't work for it I guess as it's protecting against different thing but what's the best way to protect the feedback form? I've heard of a honeypot thing where create hidden form field.
    Thanks, Scott

  • Can anyone help with my PHP contact form please!

    Hi all,
    I've just implemented the email contact form as described in the PHP Solutions book by David Powers and it is working fine.
    What I'm having problems with is my form is at the bottom of a long page and you have to scroll or click a link to get to it, which means that when the submit button is pressed, whether the form is successfully submitted or a field hasn't been completed, the user ends up back at the top of the page having to scroll back down to the form before they can see the feedback (either thanking them for submitting or pointing out that they have tried to submit an incomplete form).
    Can anyone tell me how I can make the page redirect upon clicking submit so that the user returns to the part of the page where the form is so they can see the feedback instead of going to the top of the page where the form is out of view.
    Many thanks,
    Karl.

    I've attached the entire code from the page plus the css so you can see what's going on and in additiion I've put in the corefuncs.php include code.
    Hope that's enough, thanks for looking.
    Cheers,
    Karl.

  • PHP and Apex

    I like PHP and I like Apex. Is there any chance to see an interaction between the two? I know that it
    is possible to link PHP with the Apache server which runs Apex but I am asking for the field addressing
    and exchanging the variables between PHP code and PL/SQL code. That would really turn Apex into a
    killer app.
    Mladen Gogala

    Chris, I was thinking about addressing the Apex form fields through PHP. The application in question has to upload some files to Oracle database. The problem is that I need to fetch it first from another machine. That can be easily done with PHP and I would like to be able to address the form fields in Apex from PHP. As for another book, yes, I would like to write one. I've already been putting some ideas on the paper but it is still at the very beginning.

    > I made a PHP email form and i was wondering if i did it
    correct. I try to send
    >a email but for some reason it wont work here is the PHP
    code:
    Next time please be more specific. "won't work" isn't really
    helpful.
    Anyway, the first thing to fix is the error reporting on your
    testing
    server, obviously it's not configured properly. In your
    php.ini these
    directives have to be set:
    error_reporting = E_ALL|E_STRICT
    display_errors = on
    You should get some notices from your script. After fixing
    those issues,
    you should also read about header injection and how to
    prevent it. Your
    script is vulnerable and can be abused for sending spam. Also
    consider
    to use a class like PHPMailer to make things more secure and
    convenient.
    Some further notes about your form markup:
    * It's very good that you make use of labels for your form
    controls, but
    in some cases the IDs of these controls contain spaces, which
    is not
    allowed.
    * You don't really need a label for a submit button.
    * Consider to drop all those div elements in the table
    headers - you
    don't need them. Use CSS to style the labels the way you
    want, e.g.
    form th {text-align: right}
    I also use this:
    label:hover {outline: 1px dotted #666}
    * Check the markup of the "Name" row. The 'scope' attribute
    is incorrect
    and the form control should be inside a 'td', not a 'th'.

  • Need help adapting David Powers PHP email form script please!

    Hi all,
    I'm fairly inexperienced with PHP and I'm trying to adapt the David Powers email form script from THE ESSENTIAL GUIDE TO DREAMWEAVER CS4 WITH CSS, AJAX, AND PHP.
    I've created a basic form so that visitors to the site can request a telephone call back from the site owner. The form asks the visitor for their name, telephone number and to select a time of day suitable for the telephone call to be made using radio buttons selecting between morning and afternoon.
    I'd like to achieve my goal with minimal validation error messages and would like to redirect to another page when a message is sent successfully. It is also important that in the spirit of the David Powers script I'm trying to work with, that it filters out suspect input, avoids email header injection attacks and blocks submission by spam bots.
    There may be a really simple solution to this since I don't want users to be able to enter an email address at all but I don't know enough to be able to figure it out just yet.
    I'd be grateful for any advice.
    See below for the code for the form including PHP so far...
    Thanks to everyone looking in in advance
    Karl.

    Thank you for reminding me. There's a mistake in the book,
    which I
    discovered over the Christmas period, so forgot to send to
    friends of ED
    for the errata page.
    Don't use $_SESSION[MM_Username]. Use $loginUsername instead.
    It then works.

  • Importing Reports and Forms from Oracle to Portals

    Hi,
    I have read somewhere that it is possible to import all ready created reports and forms from Oracle and view them as a Portlet in Portals. Is this actually possible and if so where do I begin??
    Could there be an issue with rights, this is all new to our DBA and we have only just got permission to publish forms created in Portals to the repository. Any ideas??

    Welcome to the forum. Please take a while to go through the FAQ to be found to the top right of the page.
    Your issue is more to do with batch files rather than Forms. The only relation with Forms, as I see it, is that you will be using HOST/CLIENT_HOST to start a batch file with the file name to be deployed as a parameter passed to it.
    You need to rewrite either a CMD batch file or a Powershell script to achieve what have set out to do.
    For CMD batch files look up http://www.robvanderwoude.com/battech.php , or any of the other excellent resources available on the internet.

  • New script fixes ExternalInterface() and FORMs

    After many hours of frustration with this ExternalInterface()
    in a FORM tag in IE problem, I have written a script that fixes
    this issue before the SWF loads and therefore generates zero
    javascript errors and allows the ExternalInterface() to function
    properly.
    The script is called SWFFormFix.js and is available from my
    blog here:
    Steve
    Kamerman's Blog - SWFFormFix
    I made a few pages with some examples of the problems that
    people run into with ExternalInterface() and forms on IE, and a
    demonstration of SWFFormFix in action:

    The Oracle guys feel you need to write a script and it cannot ne performed from SSMS.... has anyone completed this process. If so, please let me know what I am missing.
    Hi Charlie,
    Firstly, you can use SSMS maintenance plans to perform availability database backup on replicas. However, please note that there are some known issues with using the maintenance plans on Availability Groups as the ones defined in this blog:
    Maintenance Plan Does not Backup Database or Log of Database Defined in Availability Group.
    Secondly, regarding to above error message, besides other post, please also check that
     if you have the correct path for the backup files. You can run the following command to make sure you can see the file in the operating system:
    Xp_cmdshell 'dir J:\Backup\forms\forms_backup_2015_03_16_154013_0667087.bak'
    Thirdly, to implement effective backups on Availability Group, you can also customize you own stored procedure to backup the database and create SQL Server agent jobs on each replica. For more details, please review this blog:
    Backing Up SQL Server Databases Participating In AlwaysOn Availability Groups.
    There are also some articles about configuring backup on Availability Replicas for your reference.

  • PHP AND ACTION SCRIPT

    Hello Experts,
      I am trying to make communication between FMS server and PHP (Linux server). As I am working on a video recording application I want to move the recorded video file from the FMS server to my PHP (Linux server). I am trying to connect to FMS server using rtmp path through PHP script but unable to establish connection.

    Ben,
    At the end of the 29:43 minute Part One video, starting at 28:28 minutes,
    he says, "If you are watching this on YouTube there will be a link to click
    in the subscription box and it will take you to a web page where you will
    be able to download the PHP Java script and form validation processing
    scripts you will need to complete Part Two of this tutorial."
    So I did all that but could not find the Contact Form Validation download
    link! The tutorial is using Dreamweaver CS5 so do you think Adobe deleted
    the Contact Form Validation file because it is no longer needed with CS6?
    I will see how far I get in Part Two, but let me know if you know what I
    should do.
    Thank you,
    Rick

  • Tutorials for creating php mail forms?

    Hi,
    Are there any free on line tutorials available for building a
    php mail form which I can put into my web site, which also include
    info on how to hook the form into the php server for processing?
    Possibly including Captcha?
    Lynda.com has a good one for Dreamweaver 4, but they don't
    cover tying the form into the php engine or captcha.
    I'd rather build my own rather than buying a script and want
    to learn, and I am still new to php.

    Why not just take an existing script and modify it?

    I need to know how to apply the insert recorset server behavior in dreamweaver cs5 so I can get it to run.
    I have been trying diff ways and i just can't get it right.
    Please help! Thanks!!!

    I'm not sure how much you know but first you have to connect your form to the database
    $con = mysql_connect("hostname","admin_name","password");
    Then you have to choose the database you want information be added to.
    mysql_select_db("database name goes here", $con);
    Then you have to write an sql function which will write it in the appropiate columns in your database
    $sql="INSERT INTO what column e.g members (First name, Last name, age, etc)
    VALUES (the names of the textfields on your form), actually double check that part
    ('$_POST[firstname]','$_POST[lastname]','$_POST[age]')";
    $result = mysql_query($sql);
    This is the first and most basic part just to give you an idea how it works.
    Within these snippets you will have to write much more which will beef up the security aswell as check if everything has been entered correctly etc

  • Problem with 'Reply-To' on PHP contact form...

    Hi guys,
    I've created a PHP contact form which works perfectly; except, when I receive the email to my inbox and go to reply to it, it doesn't reply to the email address of the person who submitted the form - in the reply field it appears to have the default server email address.
    Here's my code which I have included in the same PHP page as my form:
    <?php
    if (array_key_exists('submit', $_POST)) {
        $name = $_POST['name'];
        $email = $_POST['email'];
        $formMessage = $_POST['message'];
    if (empty($name)) {
    $warning['name'] = "Please provide your name";
    if (empty($email)) {
    $warning['email'] = "Please provide your email address";
    if (empty($formMessage)) {
    $warning['message'] = "Please type your message";
    $headers .= "Reply-To: " . $_POST["email"] . "\r\n";
    $to = "[email protected]";
    $subject = "Enquiry from website";
    $message = $headers;
    $message .= "Name: " . $_POST["name"] . "\r\n";
    $message .= "E-mail: " . $_POST["email"] . "\r\n";
    $headers  = "MIME-Version: 1.0\r\n";
    $headers .= "Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1\r\n";
    $message= "
    <table cellspacing='0' cellpadding='8' border='0' width='500'>
    <tr>
    <td colspan='2'></td>
    </tr>
    <tr bgcolor='#eeeeee'>
    <td width='154' style='font-family:Verdana, Arial; font-size:11px; color:#333333;'><strong>Name</strong></td>
    <td width='314' style='font-family:Verdana, Arial; font-size:11px; color:#333333;'>".$name."</td>
    </tr>
    <tr bgcolor='#eeeeee'>
    <td style='font-family:Verdana, Arial; font-size:11px; color:#333333;'><strong>E-mail address:</strong></td>
    <td style='font-family:Verdana, Arial; font-size:11px; color:#333333;'>".$email."</td>
    </tr>
    <tr bgcolor='#eeeeee'>
    <td colspan='2' style='font-family:Verdana, Arial; font-size:11px; color:#333333;'><strong>Message</strong></td>
    </tr>
    <tr bgcolor='#eeeeee'>
    <td colspan='2' style='font-family:Verdana, Arial; font-size:11px; color:#333333;'>".$formMessage."</td>
    </tr>
    <tr><td colspan='2' style='padding: 0px;'></td></tr>
    </table>
    $url = stripslashes($_POST["url"]);
    if (!empty($url)) {
    header( 'Location: http://www.go-away-spam-robots.com' );
    exit();
    if (!isset($warning)) {
    mail($to, $subject, $message, $headers);
    header( 'Location: http://www.mydomain.com/thankyou.php' ) ;
    ?>
    Can anyone see from my code why this would be happening?
    Thank you very much and hope to hear from you!
    SM

    Sorted!
    I removed...
    $headers .= "Reply-To: " . $_POST["email"] . "\r\n";
    ...and added...
    $headers  = "MIME-Version: 1.0\r\n";
    $headers .= "Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1\r\n";
    $headers .= "Reply-To: " . $_POST["email"] . "\r\n";

  • Need help with PHP contact form

    Hi guys,
    I've made a PHP contact form for my site and need help with a couple of things:
    The form action links an external PHP script (scripts/contact-form-script.php) but is there a way I can have it so the PHP script for the form is contained within the same PHP file as my contact form (contact.php)?
    I tried just putting the form code at the top of contact.php but the browser automatically reads the anti-spam re-direct, so maybe that needs revising too?
    The second thing is, how can I make the Name, Email and Message fields mandatory? So if a user tries to submit the form and hasn't filled in one of the required fields and clicks submit, contact.php reloads with a message at the top of the form saying something like 'Complete the required fields' and highlights the relevant field with a red border?
    Here's the code for contact.php:
    <form action="http://www.mydomain.com/scripts/contact-form-script.php" method="post" name="contact" id="contact">
    <p><strong>Name:*</strong><br />
    <input name="name" type="text" class="ctextField" /></p>
    <p><strong>E-mail:*</strong><br />
    <input name="email" type="text" class="ctextField" /></p>
    <p><strong>Telephone:</strong><br />
    <input name="telephone" type="text" class="ctextField" /></p>
    <p><strong>Company:</strong><br />
    <input name="company" type="text" class="ctextField" /></p>
    <p><strong>Address:</strong><br />
    <input name="address1" type="text" class="ctextField" /></p>
    <p><input name="address2" type="text" class="ctextField" /></p>
    <p><strong>Town:</strong><br />
    <input name="town" type="text" class="ctextField" /></p>
    <p><strong>County:</strong><br />
    <input name="county" type="text" class="ctextField" /></p>
    p><strong>Postcode:</strong><br />
    <input name="postcode" type="text" class="ctextField" /></p>
    <p><strong>Message:*</strong><br />
    <textarea name="message" cols="55" rows="8" class="ctextField"></textarea></p>
    <p><input name="submit" value="SEND MESSAGE" class="submitButton" type="submit" /><div style="visibility:hidden; width:1px; height:1px"><input name="url" type="text" size="45" id="url" /></div></p>
    </form>
    And this is the PHP I'm using to submit the form data for contact-form-script.php:
    <?php
    $headers .= "Reply-To: " . $_POST["email"] . "\r\n";
    $to = "[email protected]";
    $subject = "Contact from website";
    $message = $headers;
    $message .= "Name: " . $_POST["name"] . "\r\n";
    $message .= "E-mail: " . $_POST["email"] . "\r\n";
            $message= '
