I have the big project website that must be publish in june
2009.
So I have a lot of time now to learn it by myself.
I'm very new in the online. Which is the best of all if I
have to learn to do the website.
Cms I think its the easiest way for me and I love Drupal

I would suggest you supply some more detailed information ie.
How many
pages? ecommerce? Lots of animation required?
As to how to learn, ask lots of questions and buy a good book
on HTML and
CSS. Dreamweaver, Expressions etc are good but cannot not
make up for a
knowledge of hand coding.
A good start are the templates supplied by Dreamweaver and by
Projectseven.com, try to grasp how and why things are done
and move from
there.
Both this and projectseven forums are good and full of
helpful people

Dreamweaver and CMS

Hello
I'm hoping someone can help me and I appreciate this has been brought to everyones attention about 1000 times over but there is still some things I need to be made clear...
I'm new to the world of website design/CMS and I have a new client who wishes to update a series of different blogs in her website, but she wants a very unique design created. I'm using illustrator, slicing it up and then adding it into dreamweaver, can a cms blog such as wordpress be put into an ap div or a particular section of the website so I am still able to keep this unique design she has requested?
I've read so many forums/sites explaining how it works I just wanted to clear it up. Will I have to confirm to my client that its either a particular blog design or no blog and having the design?
Hope this makes sense.

You can't do it quite the way you describe. You need to learn how to edit a wordpress template/design and adjust to the way WP does things.
Few people use Illustrator for building web graphics but I do. But don't use Illustrator slices. Don't let any graphics program write code for you. Instead use the Illustrator artboard tool to define the graphic chunks.

How to create a dynamic newsflash using dreamweaver and PHP

I would like to create a dynamic newsflash using dreamweaver and PHP in that the newsflash will be pulling information from a MySQL database. The newsflash should also have a link to view more information about the piece of news a user wants to know more about. Which tools do I need to use in dreamweaver and how's the procedure to go about that. Any advice is highly appreciated. Thanx in advance!

I think you´ll need at least a MySQL table with the following columns:
- id (primary key, int, auto_increment etc)
- news_headline (varchar)
- news_teaser (text)
- news_content (text)
What I´d personally add are columns such as:
- news_date (date or datetime)
- news_external_link (varchar), if a "read more..." link is supposed to navigate to an external URL rather than displaying the contens of the "news_contents" column.
Based on such a MySQL table it should be easy to use Dreamweavers standard Server Behaviors to create the usual datalist.php, insert.php, update.php and delete.php documents, and there are numerous tutorials out there which will teach you how to do that.
Am I right when assuming that you´ll also need to know how to automatically pull, say, the 5 most recent news records from the database ?

I use CS3 Suite. It is a big trouble for me in working on
real pages. Integration is broken in somewhere else and after that
point it becomes impossible to work on Fireworks through
Dreamweaver.
I've made test to show this trouble and I narrowed the
problem to the pictures as shown in the figures below,
1) In figure one I am creating a completely new Fireworks
file as arrow.png with two frames and one slice in it. After I am
saving it as .png I am exporting it as .html with images in /images
subfolder.
2) After saving and closing the file in Fireworks, in figure
two, I am opening the html in Dreamweaver and changing the page
properties by writing zeros to page margins and by changing the
default font.
-----I guess in this point something happens which breaks the
integration between FW and DW--------because;
3) In figure three I am opening the .png through Dreamweaver
(by "Edit") and changes the place and size of the slice a little
bit
4) When I press Done in Fireworks I see this picture in
figure four in Dreamweaver which shows integration between FW and
DW about table structure is broken. (In this point if I add any
behaviur to the slice DW doesn't recognize it, or any other change
in FW can not be recognized by DW)
5) In order to show this broken integration in table
sturucture, I am putting a new slice to png when Editing from DW in
FW.
6) When I click on Done in DW I see this picture on the
figure six. Beacuse FW doesn't have any effect on html's table
structure code.

You can't add or change slices without re-exporting the html
from
Fireworks. Roundtrip is for image editing, not for altering
the table
structure. If I edit, and re-export, my table remains intact.
If you want to edit the slices and resulting html, open the
PNG file
independently of Dreamweaver, change your slices and images
and then
choose File > Update HTML (this option is not available
when in
Roundtrip mode). FW will ask you to locate the html file.
When located,
you will have the options of
Replace Images and Their HTML - replaces the previous
Fireworks HTML.
Update Images Only - overwrites only the images.
As an aside, the rigid table created by FW is rarely
desirable for a
production web site.

Php form and mail handling

I am trying to create a php form and I can get it to spit out the information from the form but I cannot seem to get it to send the result as an email.
This is probably something really simple and I am totally missing it.

You can see where I am trying to go with this. I want to use the $need variable to determine where the email is going to go (two people in each case). But I am testing this script and cannot get to send me an email without any if statements.

of a car.
What you're ignoring is the underlying technology that not
only makes it
work, but makes it work safely. WordPress does all of this
for you
straight out of the box. To build it successfully in
Dreamweaver
requires a knowledge of PHP, MySQL, and SQL.

Dreamweaver and Spyware

Hello!
Anyone out there know how to prevent spyware from being
attached to a Dreamweaver website?
I am new to Dreamweaver, and know very little HTML or XHTML
(thought I have a pocket reference for these codes, and can look
things up).
I have no idea how hackers attach spyware to a website, and
am interested if there are methods of detecting and eliminating any
spyware they might attach to a site I design.

Help: Can I create unique content in Dreamweaver and host it on Adobe?

I have been told that I cannot do this and I am asking for verification.
I am a CC subscriber so I have five Adobe hostings available.
What I want to know:
Is it correct that when I purchased the CC subscription and Dreamweaver with five site hostings, I cannot use Dreamweaver to create unique content and host it on the five hostings?
Why would Adobe sell Dreamweaver with all it’s capabilities and not support using it on the hostings that are sold as part of the package?
What I want to do:
Create very simple, unique content in Dreamweave. No commerce, just pages.
Publish it (test site is OK) to one of my available Adobe hostings.
Have it look just like I created it without any Business Catalysts templates or content.
What I have been told:
My five Adobe hostings are in Business Catalyst
I have to use Business Catalyst templates or my web site will not work
I cannot create unique content in Dreamweaver and use my Adobe hostings to post content entirely of my own design. I must conform to Business Catalyst.

I can create my content in Dreamweaver.
When I try to create a new Business Catalyst site in Dreamweaver using my content, Dreamweaver wants to download the lorem ipsum prefabricated placeholder content and overwrite my work.
I can mitigate this by unchecking a box but it won’t allow me to use my content.
When I push up (put) my content, it appears to transfer up
After a few seconds, the files on the server are zroed out (zero byte size).
My content is not on the web server.
What I have not tried but will do next:
Create a New Business Catalyst Test site in Dreamweaver.
Allow Dreamweaver to download the site content.
Strip out all of the prefabricated junk.
Build my content.
Push (put) it up.
See if it works.

No of course you can, You build your site as you want and upload to BC. You just need to note that the sites will be only the web basic plan so limited features.

If you have raw static html and css files etc in pages - this will work. This is the wrong way to build a site but you can do so if you want to.

Not true. Now there are templates you can use to build your sites. The other "template" term you will here are the templates you use in your site builds, pages and other elements use - Layout control - change once, update many.

The concept of creating content in Dreamweaver is not correct. You should be desining your site and then build it in Dreamweaver and then you manage the content using Business Catalyst.

To remove the cross syncing for the web basic creative cloud sites for people in muse there is an option in Site settings you need to tick, I am guessing you need to do this too.

Dreamweaver and Database Integration - XML. Windows 7

Looking to see where the bounds of where Dreamweaver can assist me.
I am looking to use Dreamweaver to develop a site that will need to manage the import of an xml feed from an external site to a database and then split some of the data to xslt for display and some of the other to R studio to calculate and create statistical analysis to be brought back to the website for display as calculate and graphical.
Can Dreamweaver help much with handling data and queries or is there another adobe program that will assist with that as well?
Most of the sites I create will be data intensive and while I can code websites I was looking to speed that section up to allow more time for data analysis.

When you say Windows 7, do you mean Windows Server 2008 R2? Or are you talking about your development computer OS?
Dreamweaver is essentially an HTML editor that has website management features. The project you describe requires back-end programming with a language like PHP, RUBY or ASP.NET.
You don't mention which kind of server you are working with (Microsoft or LINUX) or what programming language you intend to work with.
You can write PHP, javascript and ASP code in the Dreamweaver code editor, and DW will do some pretty good syntax checking, but DW is not a real IDE (integrated development environment) for any language except HTML. Also, although you can edit XML in Dreamweaver, there are other environments that work with XML better.
So the short answer to your question is: yes, Dreamweaver could probably be used as your only (or primary) environment for building such a website, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's the best choice. But since you have not given us info about your server environment and programming language of choice, this is about all we can say.

Installed PHP & MySQL, and now I have file permission errors.

I recently made a switch from using MAMP to making a separate installation of PHP, MySQL and Rails. I used the first tutorial for Rails + MySQL, and the second one for PHP;

Unfortunately, I now receive errors when trying to install activeCollab through it's own PHP install script, and WordPress won't let me import xml backups into a locally installed WordPress. This must mean that I don't have full Read/Write access to my 'Sites' directory (this is set as my default htdocs in the Apache httpd.conf). I haven't noticed any problems with Rails - so far it's only been PHP based CMS's which have thrown up the permission errors.
I've checked the file permissions on my 'Sites' folder - I'm the only user on the machine, and my account has full Read/Write access to the folder. However, I've noticed that there is also the option to choose 'Group' access, for which my account is again selected and given Read/Write access.
Then there is 'Others' category, and this has 'Read only' access. Is there an option in there which I need to select and give Read/Write permissions to? mysql, php ?
Or, is there a MySQL/PHP/Apache config file somewhere, within which I need to give global read/write permissions?
I didn't have this problem when I was served up local sites from MAMP - and I also configured MAMP to use the 'Sites' folder as it's default htdocs folder. I get the impression that because MAMP was installed as an 'Application', that it automatically inherited my user permissions - maybe PHP and MySQL don't inherit my user account permissions because they are services?...
I've come very far with getting everything installed to work with the OS X bundled Apache server (which I believe is 1.3 - I certainly haven't updated it) so I'd love to get everything finally configured - therefore, any help with this is very, very much appreciated!

PHP, PhpMyAdmin and Mysql for a beginner

I am a web designer that has a sound knowledge of xhtml and
css, but I am now finding that knowing about dynamic designing is
becoming more and more important to what I want to do.
So with that in mind I have started to learn php
implementation and how to call information from a database. After
doing some research on the topic, it looks like MySQL and
PhpMyAdmin are the way forward as I come from a web design role and
not a web developer one..

It's not at all difficult. My favorite method:
- Adopt an old box; nearly anything will do. I'm running a
server on a
PII/400 with 320M of memory.
- Download a Linux distro. I'm using Fedora Core - both FC4
and FC5 on
different boxes.

You can get information on many of them at

- Install Linux. For most distros, it's a graphical install
and goes
smoothly. Do the server install unless you want to use the
box as a
workstation. Once you've done the install, you won't even
need an
attached monitor, keyboard or mouse.
- Do a little tweaking to make sure that Apache and the MySQL
daemon
are running.
That's it for that method.
The other way is to download and install a WAMP (Windows
Apache MySQL
PHP) package. I'm not all that familiar with it, but David
Powers
posts frequently on the topic. You can look for his posts.
One
package I've seen mentioned frequently for ease of install is
XAMPP
from Apache Friends:

Going the Linux route means that you'll have a test box which

what's available with many hosting packages (Apache/PHP on

MySQL); you will have to do a bit of learning to administer

Going with Windows means that you can run the server right on

to have a couple of gotchas which you won't run into on a
*nix box.

Error updating Dreamweaver and Extension Manager CS6 (Creative Cloud)

I'm having troubles updating Dreamweaver and Extension Manager CS6 (Creative Cloud) on Macbook Pro with OS version 10.8.2. I get this error codes for both updates U44M1P7.
The log files are generated.

In this log file I can see you are getting Error : U44M1P7 while updating the software
This Error comes where language packs for software are not installed properly on the machine.
I would suggest to update Adobe Application manager from
Windows : http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4773
MAC: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4774
then try to install the update if still you are not able to update software and getting same error then uninstall all the Adobe software selecting remove prefernces.
After uninstalling the software run the Adobe Cleaner tool(http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html) and remove the leftovers.

Problem with dreamweaver and Flash

Hi, maybe someone can help me, i have any problem with
dreamweaver and flash, i have a page and i have a menu and
sub-menu, and the same page i have a category en flash 550 x 700 (
photography and more... ) but when the menu to unfold
the menu to see under flash and it cant see ( sorry my

This is a drawback of using flash or any other active
content. By default, all active content including flash will
display over every other content and thats why your menu stays
under the flash movie. Some people make the flash background
transparent to show content under the flash movie, but that will
not work for menu items.
I would suggest that you make the menu such that it does not
overlap with the flash movie.

If the data is on a remote server (for example, PHP running on a web server, talking to a MySQL server) then you do this in an AIR application the same way you would do it with any Flex application (or ajax application, if you're building your AIR app in HTML/JS).
That's a broad answer, but in fact there are lots of ways to communicate between Flex and PHP. The most common and best in most cases is to use AMFPHP (http://amfphp.org/) or the new ZEND AMF support in the Zend Framework.
