Php form to osx address book

anyone know if a php form can be developed to send information directly into address book?
i'd like to develop my fanbase through my music website and this would really be perfect.
Ibook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Seems that you could, using more than PHP by itself however.
Perhaps a combination of forms and Automator task(s)/AppleScript could accomplish the task for you.
In PHP, you can write out files, so it is assumed that you can write a file that will be handled by the Automator/AppleScript portion to accomplish the creation of Address Book records.

  • New MAC OSX Address Book Groups Do Not Appear in iTunes for iPhone Sync?

New Groups (and their associated new contacts) created in the MAC OSX Address Book since the initial installation of my iPhone do not appear in iTunes, and hence do not sync with iPhone. I have tried the Advanced - Replace information on this iPhone - Contacts to no avail.

I had this problem for several weeks now!
I followed your procedure and - addresses there, calender gone! Even worse!
So I copied the old SyncServices Folder back into /Library/Application Support/
result as expected, calender there, addresses gone.
My lady called, I was on the phone for 10 minutes or so. Coming back to my iMac I see a Sync-Problem-Icon jumping in the dock. I've been told that one of my addresses has a conflict between adressbook and iPhone. OK. Solve it with adressbook, please.
I open iTunes and everything is there, calender data and adresses!
    Finally!
    Thank you, Maurizio!

  • OSX Address Book won't sync

I am unable to sync my Nano with my OSX Address Book. I only get an error message saying that no contacts are available, and asking whether I want to open Address Book and create contacts. It doesn't matter whether the Address Book is already open or not. And nothing I do seems to break this impasse.
I'm using OSX 10.4.2, iPod firmware 2005-09-23, and iTunes 6.

I have been getting this same error message. Not sure when it started and what might have happened to cause it. I have a 4th gen 20gig iPod and the contact syncing worked fine for months, then this error started happening. Just this week I got a new 5th gen 60 gig iPod. This same error message happens on it too, so I don't think the problem has anything to so with the iPods. Definitely something mucked up with iTunes syncing on the Mac.... Thanks for any help anyone out there can give!

  • OSX Address Book Photos Not Syncing Properly to iOS

I have been having a problem for a while now and cannot seem to fix it...
I have all my contacts in the OSX address book.  I usually add contact photos by clicking on the photo and then choosing a new photo from my iPhoto library.  (I usually have to enlarge and then crop the photo from within Address Book).
I use iCloud to sync my contacts to my iOS devices, but the photos don't seem to sync properly.  Instead of the person's face, I usually get their shoulder, or nothing at all.  The text for the contact syncs fine.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Submitting InfoPath form via Outlook Address book.

    Hi there,
Is it possible to have an info path form used so that there is a submit button and the user is able to choose the email address of their choice to have the form sent? Right now I only see the option of configuring a data connection with a pre filled in email
    address.
Example. I create a form. A user opens it and needs to submit it to one person in our organization, possibly from the Outlook address book.
I see a people picker but that does not allow you to submit.
    Thank you.

    Hi SarahShay,
You can use a people picker to store the people that you want to email, then create a submit button configured to send the form by e-mial to the people of the people picker.
More information, please refer to the link:

    I hope this helps.

  • Can any other email programs use OSX Address Book?

I'm contemplating moving to another email application. Am rapidly heading towards critical mass on things driving me nuts about mail.
Do any other email programs let you use OSX's address book?
    OR
Do any other email programs let you sync their address book/contacts with a mobile phone?
I really don't want to have to keep two separate lists of contacts up to date.

I recommend Gyazmail out of the mentioned alternatives that can use the OS X Address Book. I've tried and tried to like Mail, and it definitely has some pluses with the add-ons but it just doesn't cut it in the end. Maybe one day Apple will read people's recommendations for Mail and actually implement them.
    best features of Gyazmail:
    - outgoing rules
    - uses SpamSieve
    - uses the OS X address book
    Other Niceities:
    - recognizes Nicknames from the Address Book (unlike Mail)
    - has almost never crashed on me in years
    - very customizable look

  • How to transfer my Netscape mail address book info to my OSX Address Book?

I may have to contact Netscape about this one but thought I would give it a shot here.
I am on a new G5 where all my old Netscape mail was brought over from my G3 via an Ethernet cable and is now living where it should in its place within the Netscape 4.77 mail program which I can access by running Classic OS9 mode.
I would like to import my address book information instead of having to cut and paste hundreds of addresses manually. The Apple mail program doesn't have its own address book (which I wish it did) but uses the Address book application, as you all know. Ideally I would want the addresses right there in mail but that doesn't seem to be how OSX works.
The only other thing I could do I suppose is download another web mail browswer, like Eudora or the equivalent, which maybe would have an import feature. I tried downloading Netscape for OSX but it didn't even have a place where I could drag and drop my mail folders - that I could see - let alone import my addresses from where they live in the System 9 folder.
    Any advice appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

I have had a look around on Version Tracker to see if anything might help you
and have come up with this
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19382
    Product Description:
This is a tool for fixing LDIF files exported from Netscape Communicator 4.x. When Netscape Communicator exports LDIF files, it doesn't handle hard line breaks within the notes section properly. This causes the files to not be imported properly by Address Book. This program fixes that.
    Product Requirements:
    • Mac OS 8 - 9.2.2, or
    • Mac OS X 10.0 or higher including Panther
This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:
    • Mac OS Classic
    • Mac OS X 10.0
    • Mac OS X 10.1
    • Mac OS X 10.2
    • Mac OS X 10.3
As you have Classic / 9.2.2 ? I thought it might possibly help

  • How do you import contacts if you didn't export from old OSX Address Book?

I have a bootable backup of my old PowerBook's system, but I did not export the contacts into one of the formats needed for import. And the bootable backup will not boot my new PowerBook.
I can find no method to import contacts after the fact.

With the Address Book quit on your new PowerBook, locate the AddressBook folder on your backup of the old system which is located in your Home folder/directory at Home > Library > Application Support > AddressBook.
Copy the backup copy of the AddressBook folder and place the copy at Home > Library > Application Support on your new Mac. If there is an existing AddressBook folder within the Application Support folder on your new Mac, this will replace it.
Launch Address Book on your new Mac and all Address Book contacts should be completely restored along with the list of Previous Recipients in Mail.

  • Erasing OSX Address Book w/ Sync!

I've had this problem with my iPhone twice... If I'm syncing, sometimes all of my applications will freeze. (Address Book, iChat, iCal, Mail, etc.)
If I force quit them (after about 5 minutes) then my address book is utterly erased, and iChat runs as if it is the first time... Thus, I have to use my .mac account to restore my address book.
Has anyone else had this problem?

This kind of behavior can occur, though rarely, when the Address Book crashes. You need to do two things:
    • regularly use the Back up Address Book option under the Address Book File menu
    • determine why you are crashing
Whichever process crashed—the Address Book, iCal, iChat, Mail or some other application—will have created a crash log. The log will help you determine why these crashes occur. This document will help you parse the crash log.
It is far easier to restore your missing Address Book data from a contemporary back up created by that application, than it is to restore it from the .Mac servers.

  • I actually live in Indonesia, how can I fill that in on the form under 'My address book'?

Registration was not a problem, but after that, when I wanted to put in my bank account details to be able to make purchases, I became confused where I was not able to put in the country where I live. The only options are USA States or Canada. Why am I unable to do so and what is then the meaning of registration, let alone do any purchasing?

Hi Pat, you are correct, this is not about Adobe Reader, but about Sony, with their Reader Store - eBooks.
If you try to open an account there to purchase e-books there, you'll find that you are only able to do so when you live in the USA or Canada. You can't change the setting there, which is excluding people that live in other countries.
So, that to Sony's loss, where people will look elsewhere for e-books.
    Thanks for the correction!

  • Address Book field names changing for "imported" data

I'm migrating from a thousand year old Palm Pilot that has served me so well to an iPhone. So it's time to get my contacts into OSX Address Book.
I have tried moving the data a couple of ways - exporting vCards and text files from the Palm Desktop software.
I did extensive editing of the text file in MS Excel to get the data into good order.
I have set up a template in the Address Book preferences to create fields that I want/need. Some are generic default field names, some have custom names. eg. I want to see a field called "Bus. Phone" not one called "work". Call me picky.
I get the same basic result no matter if I import the vCard file or a text file - The names of the fields just show up with very generic names in the imported data. I should note that creating a NEW record seems to use the field names that I have specified in the preferences.
Also, when importing the text file, Address Book asks me to assign the field names for certain fields (while it seems smart enough to know what labels to use for other fields all on it's own). However, the Field Names available in the drop down menu ARE NOT the ones that I have set up in the prefs. I seem limited to the generic default field names only.
Can anybody tell me how to get the field names to be what I want them to be for address data that is being imported like this?
Thanks for any suggestions - this has been driving me crazy as it would seem to me to be a pretty basic process. (I mean, the Address Book has this import functionality and custom field name functionality built in so it should work right?!)
    Allen

No sooner do I ask than I notice that other people have asked the same question. In one of the reply's I saw mention of a product called "Abee".
I tracked it down and it did the job for me! Custom Field names live on!
    It's at:

  • Address book corrupts names

Address book/Mail keeps corrupting some names in my address book.
I have had .mac on three mac's for a year and a half, syncing all my e-mails and address's.
For some reason certain names it keeps changing. eg. "Dad" becomes "Dad, Dad". This then syncs to my iPhone. So I delete the second Dad from one machine or the iPhone and sync it and they all go back to normal. Later when writing an e-mail it will spontaneously change back and will flicker between one or the other if you keep deleting and re-typing "dad" in the TO field or CC field.
Also it will be fine and i will be out of the house and and my machines will be home and off and my dad will call or e-mail, and it will go from "Dad" which i have seen in my address book earlier that day to "Dad, Dad". It happened to loads of contacts when i added my iphone to the .mac sync list and but they were mostly rectified by editing the entries and waiting for the sync to resolve it.
Short of Just deleting and re-adding the affected ones I don't know what to do. Also the iPhone moved all the first names to last names for some reason. so i moved them back but some of them have remained.
Is this some sort of inherent incompatibility with OSX Address book and .mac? my point being that it can be corrupted on any client then synced with the rest.

I agree that once you have two people called 'Dave' it then becomes necessary to have a surname and in-fact I've started adding all new people with surnames. I am however unlikely to ever have more than one entry for 'Mum' or 'Dad'.
Also when you say the names are in the e-mail address even if you don't see it my friend Jacob who's e-mail address I've recently added is [email protected] and it hasn't attempted to add Lord or Ermintrude as his surname or Jacob as his surname it's just left it as is, yet every single time i communicate with my dad it f*cks around trying to decide whether his name is 'Dad' or 'Dad, Dad' (see original post)
I might just copy everything into a text file, delete everyone in the address book, sync it to all machines/iPhone, then add everyone one at a time back into address book and let in sync back to everything else.
This is definitely new to the last month or so.

  • Creating multiple address books

Is there anyway to sync multiple groups onto the iphone. I have ms outlook 2007. Iv'e created a personal contact list and a buisness contact list. Is there anyway to sync both on to the phone but still keep them in seperate folders. I would think there must be a way. If not this is a serious short sight on Apples part. Even my rim pearl could do this. Any help would be much appreciated.

There is but not via Outlook.
The iPhone supports Groups, which are compatible with OSX Address Book and Windows Address Book. The equivalent in Outlook is Categories which do not sync.
If you sync the contacts via Windows Address Book rather than Outlook you can have a Business group and a Personal group.

  • How to: Multiple Address books in Leopard?

Hi guys Is it possible to have multiple Address books in Leopard without having to switch users?
I need one for personal use and one for business use and if it's not possible with apple address book Is there a osx address book application that would allow me to do that?
    Thanks

It is, however, possible to label entries as either business or personal and then create two groups. Place all business labeled entries in one group and all personal labeled entries in the other group.

  • Labels- How to populate labels from Address Book

In OSX Address Book - how do I populate an Avery 5160 label sheet?  Also I'm looking for Christmas labels - any suggestions? I found nothing in Word.
    Thanks

Open Contacts and select the contacts you want to print (Command A to select all or Command click to select multiple individuals), then File menu Print. In Style select Labels and in Layout select Avery Standard and 5160.
For Christmas labels (and most other label printing) I use the Avery Design and Print software and import data to it from a spreadsheet file. You can download the Mac version of Avery Design and Print at http://www.avery.com/avery/en_us/Help-Center/General-Help/Avery-Design--Print.ht m
