PHP & OHS

Hi,
Can Oracle HTTP Server 10.1.3.5 be made to work with a recent vintage of PHP that also has mysql support?
Here is my problem. The marketing dept hired a design firm to redo our site. As part of the redo they are moving it to Drupal. The requirements for Drupal are pretty basic - apache, php and mysql. On paper OHS didn't have a problem with any of that but I soon found a raft of issues. Here's what I've done so far.
1. Tried installing it on the OHS integrated with Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.5 which uses Apache 1.3. It worked except the PHP was so old that Drupal threw errors after it was installed. I changed it to use PHP5 instead but it does not come with mysql support.
2. Tried installing on a standalone version of OHS which uses Apache 2. Same problems as the integrated version.
3. Tried installing on a standalone version of generic apache. Getting mysql and php configured was a snap but I can't get the mod_oc4j plugin to work. That's a showstopper because I have to be able to pass traffic to our OAS instance. I'm still working with Oracle support trying to get that to work.
The underground php manual on the oracle site hinted that php5 in OHS could be updated to include mysql support. I have zero php experience so I never got that to work.
So...does anyone have any bright ideas. I'm desperate enough to try anything. Well, almost anything. : )
The requirements should be simple - run a site based on drupal that integrates with OC4J.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is there any reason why it all has to be in one environment?
I have several sites that are on the internet running apache 2 with mysql support that interact JSON/AJAX with a box that is assigned proxy duties to communicate over a vpn tunnel to Oracle. Mostly for security reasons but this works fine and should help with your (my condolances) Drupal problem.
If you'd like me to go into more detail let me know.

  • PHP OHS XE - Mixed Environments

    Hello All,
I was wondering if anybody has ever run into the following problem. I've got OHS and XE running on the same server, btu installed in 2 distinct ORACLE_HOME with 2 distinct users (oracle, oraweb) both part of the oinstall group.
I'm using the demo files and when I test using the php command line I have no problem connecting with OCI. However when I open the same file through the web I get:
    Command line test
    #> php -f dbtest01.php
Warning: oci_connect(): ORA-24315: illegal attribute type in /u01/app/oracle/middleware/webtier_1/instances/inst_1/config/OHS/ohs1/htdocs/demo/dbtest01.php on line 10
I've tried overloading http.conf with the SetEnv ORACLE_HOME to point to the XE, however I still see that the PHP environment variable _ENV["ORACLE_HOME"] still points to the OHS home.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance
    Jan S.

    Hello cj,
Thanks for the note. I've gone through the book many times and there are steps that are simply unclear. I managed to get my environment working correctly after installing both the 2 rpms from oracle and not installing oci8 as an integral part of PHP but as a shared library and simply adding the extension oci8.so to PHP.ini.
Also to note you must fix the APXS Mealink Note: 1163665.1

    #> rpm -ivh oracle-instantclient11.2-devel-11.2.0.3.0-1.x86_64.rpm
The first RPM puts the Oracle libraries in /usr/lib/oracle/11.2/client64/lib
The second creates headers in /usr/include/oracle/11.2/client64

  • Installing PHP on Solaris w OHS and OCI

    Hey All,
I'm trying to compile PHP 4.3.6 to work with a 9iAS instance on Solaris 8.
I have followed http://otn.oracle.com/products/ias/ohs/htdocs/php_instructions_for_ohs.htm but have had no success as yet. The two issues so far are:
    when running -
    bash-2.03$ ./configure with-apxs=$ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/bin/apxs prefix=$ORACLE_HOME --with
    -config-fil-path=$ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf
    I get this error:

checking for Apache 1.x module support via DSO through APXS... configure: error: You have enabled Ap
ache 1.3 support while your server is Apache 2. Please use the appropiate switch --with-apxs2
Also, when I just try to configure for OCI support (to isolate issues) I get -
    ./configure --with-oci8=$ORACLE_HOME

    Thanks
    Mark

    Hi Marc
I had the same problems! But now, i could "configure" and
"make" without errors (but some warings).
    What i did:
    1. Make some changes in .../php-4.3.6/configure
    # APACHE_VERSION=`expr $4 \* 1000000 + $5 \* 1000 + $6`
    APACHE_VERSION=1003026
Because httpd -version gives "Oracle9iAS/9.0.2.3.0 Oracle HTTP Server" back instead of " Apache/1.3.26 (Unix)".
    2.) Comment out in
    $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/include/httpd.h
    /* #include "ap_oracle_version.h" */
    3.) Comment out in
    $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/include/http_log.h
    /* #include "http_oralog.h" */
Mayby you could try, if this solves your problem to.

  • OHS 12c and PHP

I've successfully installed Weblogic 12c and OHS 12c.  I just need to now install php.  I and only find installation instructions for OHS 11g.  With the exception of a different directory structure does anyone know whether they will work or are there different instructions for 12c out there somewhere??
    Thanks

I haven't seen any installation notes specific to PHP for this version.
I'd try with FastCGI (See Introduction to Oracle HTTP Server (12c Release 2 (12.1.2)))
Testing this is on my To-do list; I was hoping to get around to it before replying, but ...

  • Error while trying SSL on OHS

I'm getting "Init: SSL call to NZ function nzos_OpenWallet failed with error 29248" error in log file HTTP_Server~1 while starting OHS (using opmnctl startall).
I created a Wallet with auto login option checked. I was able to create certificate Request and got a certificate from verisign (14 days Validity). I imported Root certificate and intermediate certificate from verisign into the wallet and then successfully imported the trial certificate. After saving the wallet in default location I got 2 files (cwallet.sso and ewallet.p12) there.

    </ias-component>
my httpd.conf file is as follows:
    ## httpd.conf -- Apache HTTP server configuration file
    # Based upon the NCSA server configuration files originally by Rob McCool.
    # This is the main Apache server configuration file. It contains the
    # configuration directives that give the server its instructions.
    # See <URL:http://www.apache.org/docs/> for detailed information about
    # the directives.
    # Do NOT simply read the instructions in here without understanding
    # what they do. They're here only as hints or reminders. If you are unsure
    # consult the online docs. You have been warned.
    # After this file is processed, the server will look for and process
    # D:\product\10.1.3\OracleAS_1\Apache\Apache/conf/srm.conf and then D:\product\10.1.3\OracleAS_1\Apache\Apache/conf/access.conf
    # unless you have overridden these with ResourceConfig and/or
    # AccessConfig directives here.
    # The configuration directives are grouped into three basic sections:
    # 1. Directives that control the operation of the Apache server process as a
    # whole (the 'global environment').
    # 2. Directives that define the parameters of the 'main' or 'default' server,
    # which responds to requests that aren't handled by a virtual host.
    # These directives also provide default values for the settings
    # of all virtual hosts.
    # 3. Settings for virtual hosts, which allow Web requests to be sent to
    # different IP addresses or hostnames and have them handled by the
    # same Apache server process.
    # Configuration and logfile names: If the filenames you specify for many
    # of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for Win32), the
    # server will use that explicit path. If the filenames do not begin
    # with "/", the value of ServerRoot is prepended -- so "logs/foo.log"
    # with ServerRoot set to "D:\product\10.1.3\OracleAS_1\Apache\Apache" will be interpreted by the
    # server as "D:\product\10.1.3\OracleAS_1\Apache\Apache/logs/foo.log".
    # NOTE: Where filenames are specified, you must use forward slashes
    # instead of backslashes (e.g., "c:/apache" instead of "c:\apache").
    # If a drive letter is omitted, the drive on which Apache.exe is located
    # will be used by default. It is recommended that you always supply
    # an explicit drive letter in absolute paths, however, to avoid
    # confusion.
    ### Section 1: Global Environment
    # The directives in this section affect the overall operation of Apache,
    # such as the number of concurrent requests it can handle or where it
    # can find its configuration files.
    # ServerType is either inetd, or standalone. Inetd mode is only supported on
    # Unix platforms.
    ServerType standalone
    # ServerRoot: The top of the directory tree under which the server's
    # configuration, error, and log files are kept.
    # Do NOT add a slash at the end of the directory path.
    ServerRoot "D:\product\10.1.3\OracleAS_1\Apache\Apache"
    # PidFile: The file in which the server should record its process
    # identification number when it starts.
    PidFile logs/httpd.pid
    # ScoreBoardFile: File used to store internal server process information.
    # Not all architectures require this. But if yours does (you'll know because
    # this file will be created when you run Apache) then you must ensure that
    # no two invocations of Apache share the same scoreboard file.
    ScoreBoardFile logs/httpd.scoreboard
    # In the standard configuration, the server will process httpd.conf (this
    # file, specified by the -f command line option), srm.conf, and access.conf
    # in that order. The latter two files are now distributed empty, as it is
    # recommended that all directives be kept in a single file for simplicity.
    # The commented-out values below are the built-in defaults. You can have the
    # server ignore these files altogether by using "/dev/null" (for Unix) or
    # "nul" (for Win32) for the arguments to the directives.
    #ResourceConfig conf/srm.conf
    #AccessConfig conf/access.conf
    # Timeout: The number of seconds before receives and sends time out.
    Timeout 300
    # SendBufferSize: controls setsockopt() call made to set send buffer size on
    # all sockets. Default OS value on most Windows platforms is too small.
    # Larger values can help if the average page size served by OHS is
    # large (~64 k)
    SendBufferSize 16384
    # KeepAlive: Whether or not to allow persistent connections (more than
    # one request per connection). Set to "Off" to deactivate.
    KeepAlive On
    # MaxKeepAliveRequests: The maximum number of requests to allow
    # during a persistent connection. Set to 0 to allow an unlimited amount.
    # We recommend you leave this number high, for maximum performance.
    MaxKeepAliveRequests 100
    # KeepAliveTimeout: Number of seconds to wait for the next request from the
    # same client on the same connection.
    KeepAliveTimeout 15
    # Apache on Win32 always creates one child process to handle requests. If it
    # dies, another child process is created automatically. Within the child
    # process multiple threads handle incoming requests. The next two
    # directives control the behaviour of the threads and processes.
    # MaxRequestsPerChild: the number of requests each child process is
    # allowed to process before the child dies. The child will exit so
    # as to avoid problems after prolonged use when Apache (and maybe the
    # libraries it uses) leak memory or other resources. On most systems, this
    # isn't really needed, but a few (such as Solaris) do have notable leaks
    # in the libraries. For Win32, set this value to zero (unlimited)
    # unless advised otherwise.
    # NOTE: This value does not include keepalive requests after the initial
    # request per connection. For example, if a child process handles
    # an initial request and 10 subsequent "keptalive" requests, it
    # would only count as 1 request towards this limit.
    MaxRequestsPerChild 0
    # Number of concurrent threads (i.e., requests) the server will allow.
    # Set this value according to the responsiveness of the server (more
    # requests active at once means they're all handled more slowly) and
    # the amount of system resources you'll allow the server to consume.
    ThreadsPerChild 50
    # Server-pool size regulation. Rather than making you guess how many
    # server processes you need, Apache dynamically adapts to the load it
    # sees --- that is, it tries to maintain enough server processes to
    # handle the current load, plus a few spare servers to handle transient
    # load spikes (e.g., multiple simultaneous requests from a single
    # Netscape browser).
    # It does this by periodically checking how many servers are waiting
    # for a request. If there are fewer than MinSpareServers, it creates
    # a new spare. If there are more than MaxSpareServers, some of the
    # spares die off. The default values are probably OK for most sites.
    #MinSpareServers 5
    #MaxSpareServers 20
    # Limit on total number of servers running, i.e., limit on the number
    # of clients who can simultaneously connect --- if this limit is ever
    # reached, clients will be LOCKED OUT, so it should NOT BE SET TOO LOW.
    # It is intended mainly as a brake to keep a runaway server from taking
    # the system with it as it spirals down...
    #MaxClients 150
    # Listen: Allows you to bind Apache to specific IP addresses and/or
    # ports, in addition to the default. See also the <VirtualHost>
    # directive.
    #Listen 3000
    #Listen 12.34.56.78:80
    # BindAddress: You can support virtual hosts with this option. This directive
    # is used to tell the server which IP address to listen to. It can either
    # contain "*", an IP address, or a fully qualified Internet domain name.

    # Dynamic Shared Object (DSO) Support
    # To be able to use the functionality of a module which was built as a DSO you
    # have to place corresponding `LoadModule' lines at this location so the
    # directives contained in it are actually available before they are used.
    # Please read the file README.DSO in the Apache 1.3 distribution for more

    # o ExportCertData:
    # This exports two additional environment variables: SSL_CLIENT_CERT and
    # SSL_SERVER_CERT. These contain the PEM-encoded certificates of the
    # server (always existing) and the client (only existing when client
    # authentication is used). This can be used to import the certificates

    # o StdEnvVars:
    # This exports the standard SSL/TLS related `SSL_*' environment variables.
    # Per default this exportation is switched off for performance reasons,

    # to provide compatibility to existing CGI scripts.
    # o StrictRequire:
    # This denies access when "SSLRequireSSL" or "SSLRequire" applied even
    # under a "Satisfy any" situation, i.e. when it applies access is denied

"For Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4) and later releases, Oracle support is provided for mod_php in the same manner as for mod_perl, the plug-in module for Perl, another popular scripting language. While Oracle does not support the PHP interpreter and language, it does support versions of OHS which include mod_php and will assist in configuration and inclusion of mod_php into OHS. Also, Oracle will assist in diagnosing some PHP problems and will forward PHP interpreter bugs to the relevant open source development organizations." [1]

  • OFM 11gr1 and php 5.2.13 on a sun sparc platform

    Hello,
I have a sun sparc 64 platform. Currently upgrading to 11g and have most things up and running.
I need to upgrade my version of php to 5.x. Wanted to upgrade to 5.3 but apparently it is not available for my platform.
But, php 5.2.13 for the sparc is available from the sunfree site. However, it requires mysql, openldap, and openssl and some other packages.
Has anyone had any success installing/configuring and using this version of php inconjuction with the 11g OFM weblogic server products.
I'm concerned that installing them will result in port conflicts.
We have no need to install these additional packages other than they appear to be "required".
    Thanks.
So the sysadmin has installed all of the packages. Apparently the libphp5.so is in 32bit mode. We getting the following error when we try to start the ohs:
    /disk0/Oracle/Middleware/as_tools/ohs/bin/apachectl startssl: execing httpd
httpd.worker: Syntax error on line 247 of /disk0/Oracle/Middleware/asinst_tools/config/OHS/ohs1/httpd.conf: Cannot load /usr/local/apache2/modules/libphp5.so into server: ld.so.1: httpd.worker: fatal: /usr/local/apache2/modules/libphp5.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32
I want to pass on the steps in the "PHP instructions for OHS" article that was on otn but it is for linux not solaris sparc.
Does anyone have any notes on installing php on a sparc platform with 11g?

  • OHS + Apex + TCL

    Hi all,
I have installed here on my machine Oracle 10g R2, Oracle comapanion (HTTP Server Apache 1.3, PHP 4.3) ActiveTCL 8.5.4 Apex 3.2. I would like to make this machine in a small web server, since I'm running on windows XP. Everything above is working, Perl, Php, Apex, Apache, Tcl, but when I try to run a page with a connection point TCL in the bank I got an error TNS can help me or indicate the ropes. I am very novice in this part of WebServer. Thank you.
Ps. I used Google Translator, my English is not so good, sorry.

Apex is a PL/SQL software suite. This resides inside the database. The only external component is Apex stylesheets, javascript and images. This need to reside on the web server (the contents of the image folder of the Apex installation).
Apex can be downloaded via apex.oracle.com - and is an install option when creating an Oracle database via dbca. Unfortunately, the Apex version that ships with the RDBMS installation media, is older than the current Apex version available for download. Which then requires Apex to be installed separately anyway.
OHS (Oracle Http Server) ships with Oracle Fusion Middleware. It needs to be downloaded separately. It needs to be installed separately (own Oracle Home).

  • Support for PHP 4 coming to an end - implications for DW

This is a copy of a post I sent to the Dreamweaver
    Application
Development forum, but it's relevant to many people here,
    too. Apologies
if you have already read it.
Today (13 July 2007) is the third anniversary of the release
    of PHP 5.
To mark this occasion, the PHP development team has announced
    that
support for PHP 4, except for critical security fixes, will
    be
discontinued on 31 December. Furthermore, even critical
    security fixes
for PHP 4 will cease on 8 August 2008 (8/8/08). You are urged
    to move to
PHP 5.2 as soon as practicable.
As far as PHP code generated by Dreamweaver MX 2004, DW8, and
    DW CS3 is
concerned, this change will have NO effect. The code runs
    without
problem on PHP 5.2, and should continue to run even when PHP
    6 is
    eventually released.
Code generated by Dreamweaver MX should be upgraded to run on
    PHP 5.2,
as it uses deprecated predefined variables, such as
    $HTTP_POST_VARS
(instead of $_POST). Although PHP 5.2 can be configured to
    support the
deprecated variables, they will NOT be supported in PHP 6, so
    it's a
good idea to start planning ahead.
If you're on shared hosting, the likelihood is that your
    server still
runs PHP 4. Now is the time to start pressuring your hosting
    company to
commit to upgrade to PHP 5.2. There's no need to panic,
    because there
will be security patches for another year; but after that,
    any host
still running PHP 4 will leave you potentially open to
    security risks.
A lot of people worry that switching from PHP 4 to PHP 5 will
    result in
broken sites. For the vast majority of people, it won't. When
    I switched
three years ago, I didn't need to change a single line of
    code. The only
people who are likely to face problems are those using very
    old code or
    object-oriented PHP.

  • Versions of PHP and libxml2 for Linux Redhat

I installed PHP 5.3.19. I had two choices from http://php.net/downloads.php. Version 5.4 or 5.3. The latest version of libxml2 available for RHEL 5.5 is 2.6.26 release 2.1.15. Should I go with this one or should I download a later version for Fedora, and if so which one, or should I download an earlier version of PHP to go with libxml2 2.6.26 release 2.1.15 and if so which one?
    Edited by: 944901 on Dec 11, 2012 11:06 AM

    - Oracle Linux 5 is also available from the repo I mentioned.
    - There are 8 extensions in the PHP source that require libxml2. I don't know which one(s) you want. I have built some in the past on OL. I expect many other people have built PHP and some or all of the XML-based extensions on RH or OL 5.x. You won't have difficulty testing it yourself since building command line PHP takes only a few steps; just don't pass an with-apxs2 flag to PHP's "configure" command. You can choose which extensions you want, such as with-simplexml (which is default, BTW)
    - The PHP RPMs will not install on OHS because the RPMs depend upon, and install into, the httpd RPM
    - The OHS web page you mentioned wasn't written by me (and is slightly obsolete regarding header files, though I've often requested the owner update it). The best instructions for installing on OHS are in the newly updated The Underground PHP and Oracle Manual. See page 86.
    - Again, I'd recommend using PHP 5.4.
