Physical Harddrive Size in x100e
Sorry if this is obvious, but I've looked at the specs and searched google and everything and can't for the life of me figure out what size the harddrive is for the x100e. Is it 1.8" or 2.5"? Thanks much!
Solved!
Go to Solution.
It's a 2.5" (max 9.5mm height).

How can I get physical block size ? such as aix, hpux ,suselinux.
bs=BlockSize
Specifies both the input and output block size, superseding the ibs and obs flags. The block size values
specified with the bs flag must always be a multiple of the physical block size for the media being used.Learning new things today, thanks guys!

Big physical image size for thumbnails on blog overview page
I have a problem with the physical size of the thumbnails on the blog overview page with iWeb '08 (version 2.0.3):
In my blog overview page- see http://web.mac.com/steinfatt/site/Blog/Blog.html - the thumbnails are displayed with a width of about 182 px, but the images are not resized to this width by iWeb. iWeb only sets the width-attribute in the img-tag to this size, but the images themselves have a width of 630 px. As a result 878 KB of image data is loaded with the blog overview page.
On the single pages of every blog entry iWeb resizes all pictures to the appropriate width of 400 px.
The original images have a width between 621 and 2560 px and are transferred directly from iPhoto to iWeb via the media browser.
Does anybody know about this issue and are there any solutions or work arrounds? To which size should I resize the images? And why does iWeb '08 resize my images to a 400 px width for the blog pages with a single message, but does not so for the blog overview page?
I think, iWeb '08 should also resize the images to the appropriate value on the blog overview page (in my case to a width of 182 px). -
Physical page size in reports 9i
Greetings all.
I am trying to create a report to print on multiform dot matrix epson printer. The height of the pre-printed form is 5.5".
Is it possible in graphics (bitmap) mode to define a custom size? Or is it only possible to do the same in charater mode?
I am able to do the settings on the printer control panel but the program settings always override and there is no custom size available in the page setup.
Please help!!
Thanks in advance.
MaheshHi Mahesh
You need to perform three task to design your report:
1. In Reports property palette, change the Unit of
dimesion. You can design the report in any of
different units i.e characters (charcater and bitmap
mode), points (bitmap), inches (bitmap) and centimeter.
2. Set the Dimension. Report can have any length and any
width. Because printer pages may be smaller or larger
then report, the concept of physical pages versus
logical pages are used in Reports. A logical page is
the size of one page of your actual report. You need
to set this ratio in reports properties.
3. Set the required page size in Reports section
properties. There are three sections: header,
body/margin and Reports trailer.
Hope this helps!
Thanks

Hi,
This says 500GB:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=120&prodSeriesId=...
However, a 750GB hard drive might work too. I can't say for sure as your pc is a desktop and this section is for laptops but the recovery disk/s may not work on a much bigger drive than the original one anyway.

How to determine physical disk size on solaris
I would like to know whether there is a simple method available for determining physical hard disk sizes on Sun sparc machines. On HP based machines it is simple:
1. run "ioscan -fnC disk" - to find all disk devices and there raw device target address ie /dev/rdsk/c0t2d2
2. run "diskinfo /dev/rdsk/c0t2d2" - display the attributes of the physical disk including size in Kbyes.
This simple process allows me create simple scripts that I can use to automate collation of audit data for a large number of HP machines.
On Sun based machines I've looked at the prtvtoc, format, and devinfo commands and have had no joy. Methods and suggestion will be well appriciated.ok,
format should say .....eg
type format ..
AVAILABLE DISK SELECTIONS:
0. c0t0d0 <SUN2.1G cyl 2733 alt 2 hd 19 sec 80>
if this is not a Sun disk, and you do not get the info,
select the required disk and select partition and then print. This will display what you need.
hope this helps -

Solved!
Go to Solution.Welcome to the forum!
Your machine will gladly take a 250Gb Western Digital, which is the largest PATA HDD in existance at this moment. It's also a 5400rpm, and quite a few people have found it almost as fast as some 7200rpm drives.
If you're intent on keeping that machine for a long time, you may want to get a Seagate drive, since they come with a 5-year warranty. And new Momentus 3 are very, very nice.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
George

Hi,
I'm running Hyper-V 2012 R2 as part of Server 2012 Essentials.
As seems common from other threads I've read I have created an expanding VHDX with a maximum size too large (almost the same size as the physical disc it lives on). Although there is only around 350GB of data in the VHDX, the actual file size is approaching
900GB on the host.
I'm using the "Add New Virtual Disk" wizard to make a new VHDX to replace this massive file. I want the contents of the old VHDX to be copied to the new one so in the add disk wizard I selected the option to copy the contents of my new disk from
the original.
So my question is: the source VHDX is 900GB, the data inside the is around 350GB. What size is my new VHDX likely to be? Is it likely to reduce to nearer the actual data size?
I'm asking because I'm currently running this operation to an external USB drive and it's painfully slow - going to take hours to complete. If the size isn't going to reduce I may as well cancel it and look for a better option.
Any comments appreciated.
DavidI am assuming that you are using dynamic virtual disks for your VHDX (they can be dynamic or fixed).
And, it is usually some type of transaction, backup agent, of the like that causes this type of behavior. Some action that requires a cache on disk that is later deleted.
There is a shrink action that can be done, but that will not optimize fully.
The way to fully optimize is to mount the old virtual disk and create a new virtual disk and mount it, and then copy the contents from one to the other. This lays the files out in a nice orderly way, without anything being written to the end of the
virtual disk causing it to expand strangely.
Over time, if you are still using the backup agent (for example) that got you into this situation, you will be there again.

PBG4 Ti 1Ghz: Is there a limitation on harddrive size?
Hi,
I want to upgrade a PowerBook G4 Titanium 1Ghz. It's the last model before the Alu models came out and has a 60GB 4.200 rpm drive. Is there any limitation on the maximum possible size of the harddrive? Or can I just get the biggest and fastest PATA drive I want? I'm thinking about something like 120GB/7200 or 160GB/5400.
Thank you
Björni did some research over at the excellent site xlr8yourmac.com in their drive database and it turns out the titanium machines (at least the 867/1ghz) will support drives larger than 137gb... so there you go!
also, the 250gb WD drive i mentioned in my prior post is 5400rpm... seems like it would be perfect for your needs. The pricing ive seen on them is usually a little less than $200 US. -
Replacing Harddrive -- size?
One of my harddrives is failing SMART check and needs to be replaced. Its the one I keep my iTunes files on and it is a 1.5TB Drive. I'd like to get my files off the drive before it dies completely.
I've been looking at the 3 and 4 TB dives as replacements. I've been reading comments about 3TB Drives having problems but haven't found anything specific. WHat's the latest? I'd really like to go with a bigger drive for the storage space but I don't want to add a problem.
Any suggestions?
ALSO Should a large drive be partitioned above a certain size or is that "old school?"I'm sorry to hear that Grant or anyone else has been having trouble with their machine. I've had no problems whatsoever with partitioning or erasing any 3TB or 4TB drive in my Mac Pro 4,1 running under Mountain Lion (10.8) or Mavericks (10.9). I do a fair amount of system testing on things, so data gets moved around quite a bit, drives get partitioned and reformatted fairly regularly.
Currently I'm using a single 4TB drive, partitioned as one big drive, to store my iTunes library/media. Previously, I'd had the drive partitioned as 1TB/3TB, and 500GB/3.5TB. I have another 4TB drive currently with 3 partitions, and a 3TB drive in a single partition. Neither Disk Utility nor Drive Genius have ever reported a problem with either drive.
I had a friend with a Mac Pro 3,1 who did have a problem using a 3TB drive once, but if I remember correctly he resolved the problem by disconnecting all his external drives (FW & USB) and rebooting.
The advice I'd offer is to avoid the WD green drives (or other manufacturer's equivalent) AT ALL COSTS. They're great drives for casual use, but aren't really suited to big workstations or server hardware. I'm a fan of Western Digital's red drives (or other manufacturer's equivalent) for an iTunes media library. Those drives are designed for use in servers and network attach storage, and while they're not the fastest drives out there they're fast enough for serving up movies and music (on either the machine locally or over the network to AppleTV's, etc). -
PHYSICAL PAGE SIZE IN REPORT DESIGNER 2.5
I have designed a report in character mode and it prints on a page size of 15" * 5.5". Only one record is printed on one page. I have set the page size at design time and looks fine. I have also defined page as 130 * 33 characters. But when you run the report and send it to printer, and the end of each record page feed skips one page. i.e. printer feeds 11" paper or 66 line paper. Now how can I make the printer to set page size 5.5" or 33 lines.
Thank you.Check on your printer defintion file and modify it to match with your page size or print area. Hard work to modify from standard
HP files to legal (242x66) and letter (88(?)x134) since nobody or vendor or Oracle
provide (max)many columns and rows on letter and legal. I had to modify two special printer define files. I am glad to print exact layout to the HP printer without contact any vendor or Oracle. Also I dropped my special files to Window NT shared disk area and Later I am only person to run Oracle Report 2.5 output at my personal computer. Therefore you must work very hard to test, test, test and understand PCL language script for your need or this page size than standard letter or legal. Sam -
IPhone 3G physical phone size is smaller than others?
I have noticed that my iPhone 3G (16gb) is actually shorter (in size) than my wife's? I use the Inspiretech case and have noticed that my phone actually shifts around a little bit but when I put my wife's phone in there, it holds the phone correctly and doesn't shift. I also experienced this with my first case which was a DLO-Jam Jacket where the phone would slide down the jelly like case a little bit. My wife's phone did not do this in the Jam Jacket either. Has anyone experienced this before? I have modified my latest case by stuffing a couple pieces of folded up paper in it to make up the extra space. Is this something I should worry about? Will this forever be a neusance?
This is my case (http://www.inspiretech.com/p-377-iphone-3g-full-protector-case-blue.aspx) and it's for the 3G and it fits my wife's 3G snuggly. I'm thinking my phone is a few millimeters shorter. Almost a manufacturing defect that will just be a neusance the rest of the phone's life

Hello,
I was wondering what the size limit of a HD for PB G4 17-in? I know there are some good sized HD out there and I am looking to upgrade.
Thanks!There are also 17inch G4 Powerbook's with a S-ATA HD.
In your post's above you did not mention what kind off HD you needed.
If you have a ATA connector, then you are restricted to the 160 GB drive's. If you have S-ATA, then you can go up too 200 GB . (It is GB, not Ghz)
Hopefully this solved your problem. (see button above this message) -
SatPro 6100 harddrive size limit?
I need to replace the HD on my 6100. It has a 40gb MK4019GAX drive which is dying. This laptop has been running Linux for years. It works better than any windows PC I have owned. That's why I want to keep it alive.
Is there a size limit for HDs in the 6100?
(I recently bought a Satellite A305-S6905, but it has Vista. )ToshibaDirect offers a 250GB internal drive for the Satellite Pro 6100. That would lead me to believe that the 6100 has a 48-bit LBA and can therefore take any size 2.5" PATA drive you can find.
