Physical keyboard not working, touch screen not working on Torch 9800

I've had this phone a little over a year. First, my physical keyboard stops working. It is the one I use the most. I wasjust using the virtual keyboard and when I was watching tv, I decided to turn my phone on to check it (as I usually keep it on silent.) I turned it on and the touch screen would not work for me. I opened the physical keyboard, and it is working fine now, as is the track pad, but I cannot use the touch screen by actually touching it. Anyone else have this problem? How do I fix it?
**Edit** I checked my phone right after I posted it and now neither are working.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness shows up, the first thing to try is a proper reboot:
With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Good luck!

  • Capture a physical signature from a touch screen?

Is there a way to capture a physical signature from a touch screen PC, tablet, or phone and imbed that directly into an Acrobat fillable form without utilizing other devices or programs?
    Thank you!

    Hi Chandrika,
Please provide the details of the BADI you are using. In general you have to go to the methods in BADI and see which are all the fields associated with that method. In your case you have to search the field which captures the value entered by the user.
You can also check this  by putting break point in GET_INSTANCE method of CL_EXITHANDLER class (Through SE24) and check in which field value entered by the user being captured and also you can find out the BADI involved.
Then you can go to SE19 and in the BADI you can find the relevant method.
Then you need to code in the relevant method and use the field which is capturing the value whereever you need.

  • E7-00 physical keyboard not working

I got this old E7 phone, which was broken of course ( water damaged).
So, I opened it cleaned and it started working everything else, except physical keyboard...
I'm wondering since the water dmg was on display, is there some software problem I'm missing.
Like Do I require some language packs or phone setting or is there some option to disable the keyboard?
And yes, I full wipe and update OS to phone before testing keyboard.
This phone has my language Finnish at settings (Settings->Phone->Language)
    Info about the phone:
    Software version: 111.040.1511
    Software date: 2012--07--28
    Adapted version: 111.040.1511.263.01
    Adapted version date: 2012-08-20
    Language packet: 111.040.1511.02.01
    PS. On-Screen keyboard works perfectly.

  • Fascinate for someone who is used to a physical keyboard

I am looking to upgrade my wife's ENV2 to a droid.  She likes the Fascinate byt us concerned about her move from a physical keyboard to a touch screen keyboard.   The Fascinate seems to be a nice large screen (and therefore an easier touch entry), but I wanted to see how others felt with that kind of transition.
Also... general feelings (pro or con) on the phone (probably going CPO)?
    Thanks!

I used to have a phone with a physical keyboard (and coincidentally, it was the EnV2) prior to the Fascinate and had some reservations myself prior to purchasing this phone.  The phone has a typing feature called Swype which is supposed to speed up typing on the virtual keyboard.  Of course, it may feel a bit odd at first not having something tangible to press on, but I got over that fairly quickly.  In case you haven't read about it, Swype allows you to type by sliding your finger across the virtual keyboard, as opposed to pressing on the virtual key.
Here is a YouTube link that shows you Swype in action.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuP6AQPRpUg
Of course, some people won't like this, so for those individuals who actually like pressing virtual buttons, this phone also has an android keyboard.  I still recommend playing with the Swype feature before deciding whether to use that or not.
As with any phone, there are pros and cons associated with the phone.  What the pros and cons are specifically depends on what phone you're comparing it to.  It's somewhat difficult to compare this phone to the EnV2 as they are different.  One thing she may notice is that the battery goes out fairly quickly on this phone if the phone is constantly being turned on and used.  I could go 2 days on my EnV2 before charging, but I have to recharge this phone once a day (sometimes twice based on how much I use it).  But that's an unfair comparison since this phone is like a mini-computer, and I use this phone for many more things than I did the EnV2 (e.g., surfing the web, emails, creating word processing documents, and some games).  btw, playing games is one thing that will drain your battery very quickly...although using the word processor for a while can drain it quickly, too.
If she texts a lot, she'll enjoy the difference in the texting feature.  On this phone, like many Android phones, she will be able to see the entire conversation, which means no more looking through sent texts when she can't quite remember what the person is responding to.  Here's a screen cap I found online that shows an example text.
And I do like the 4" screen.  Yes, it makes the phone a bit larger than most, but it's worth it, imo.
The phone does occasionally freeze up on me, but pulling out the battery usually fixes that.  Also, while the battery life isn't the greatest, one can control that a bit by downloading an application to "kill" (or force quit) applications.  Unlike the EnV2, you will have to turn this phone off and on every once in a while (again, it's like a mini-computer and computers start to lag if you leave them on for an extended period of time, too).
Hope this helps you, and if you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.

  • Virtual keyboards on touch screen phones

Hi, Can I activate virtual keyboard in a touch screen phone using J2ME? My application (developed using J2ME) takes input through keyboard in a textbox (this textbox is a custom item and drawing on a Canvas). I can't use my application on a tocuh phone, because i need the activate virtual keyboard. How can i open/close the virtual keyboard for entering text in touch phone?

Just an untested suggestion. Maybe you could Display#setCurrent a TextBox (or a Form containing just one TextField) when your CustomItem receives the focus. Then the touch screen device's implementation should take care of launching the keyboard as appropriate. You would need a Command (e;g; 'Done') to return to the Canvas.

  • HELP: iPhone 6 Keyboard/Touch Screen Not Working

    Hello.
I recently acquired to an iPhone 6, which has been working properly for the last two weeks. Today, my keyboard/touch screen stopped working properly. When I am typing in iMessage, or trying to compose an email, enter a URL, or anything else that requires my touch keyboard, my "123" button that switches to numbers, punctuation, and special characters does not open. I updated my software to iOS 8.3., which switched to a new and "improved" emoji keyboard, but I did this after my keyboard had already become unresponsive. If I click on the emjoi keyboard icon to switch over, the "ABC" button to swtich back to QWERTY is unresponsive. This is REALLY frustrating! The phone is two weeks old, and I cannot use to for a huge chunk of functionality.
It's not a dead spot on the touch screen. When I am not trying to access the keyboard, that little bottom left corner works fine to open/use my Phone app.
I really don't want to reset my phone. Any other ideas?
I made a Genius Bar appointment for next Wednesday 4/15, but that seems like an eternity from now.
    Please help!

To make sure that this is not software related, set it back to factory settings, without using any backup data afterwards. Set up the rest of the personal settings manually and test the Touch Screen . If it still does not work, this is a hardware issue and the phone has to be serviced by Apple or an Authorized Apple Service Provider:

  • My one year old touch screen laptop keyboard is dead - just does not work

I have a Touch smart tx2-1370us notebook. The keypad has stopped compeltly functioning. it started with a couple of letters initially and within ten days the whole key pad is dead. the touch screen is functioning but slow. The system is also getting hung again and again.
Please suggest how to make this work....
By the way, i have tried removing the battery and putting it back.. that does not work.. at least not on my tablet.
The HP Customer centre in india refused to help citing that this model is not available in India....

If it was officially unlocked by the carrier it was originally locked to, then it should have been fine.
If it was hacked in any way to make it function as if it were unlocked, then upon restore the iOS firmware failed to re-install correctly and it is now a brick - so in that case, yup, might as well toss it in the trash.

  • Touch Screen Keyboard - not working.

My touch screen keyboard does not come up when I want to use it and so I can only use my keyboard once I slide the screen up. I must have hit a button but for life of me cannot find which one I need to turn it back on again. It use to come up automatically when I touched in a typing area for texts, web etc - now nothing. Please help.

One of these two things should reinstate that feature:
1- A battery pull.  With your phone powered on, remove your battery then replace it.
2- Reload your OS by using BlackBerry Desktop Software.  Open the software on your PC (with your phone connected) and click Device in the software then Restore.
Let us know if either one of those suggestions helps.

  • Touch Screen Not Working!

So I am a little lost as to what to do now, earlier today my Toshiba encore was working fine, had it about 2 months and never had any issues nor have I mistreated it / dropped it or pressed too hard on the screen / spilt anything on it... taken real good care of it. It was working literally a couple of hours ago (spent the last few hours trying to troubleshoot it)... and well when it was working I stopped using the touch screen for a while to plug it into a hdmi monitor and was using a bluetooth mouse and keyboard to watch youtube in my living room... soon as I had finished doing that I unplugged it and placed it softly on my bed, a few minutes later I went to use it and it was unresponsive I thought not much of it and restarted my pc, still didn't work... so I tried looking in device manager and disconnecting the mouse and keyboard etc.... the touch screen shows up in device manager under HID device, and shows as installed and "working correctly". Here is the catch it doesn't work in the EUFI BIOS ... I tried to reinstall the driver and no luck...Ive completely refreshed my pc now using the recovery options system restore was not available and it still doesn't work, I had to use an OTG cable to connect a mouse to Finnish the setup. can anyone help me diagnose this? tomorrow I am considering returning it if I can. If not I guess if its something physical I will have to see if there is luck and I can pay out for a replacement digitizer .

Okay after many hours of frustration and worry, I have solved this issue. The touch screen was some how being disabled because of my Logitech G500s plugged into my OTG cable. The solution was I booted into UEFI BIOS without the mouse plugged in and then plugged it in (I was doing this because I had no touch screen and was trying to use a mouse on the bios and thought about using a usb mouse and it worked, then I accidentally touched the screen and noticed that the mouse cursor disappeared as I did this, then I clicked save and close on the BIOS and it come up with the confirmation and this confirmed the touch screen to be working again. I then booted back into windows WITHOUT the mouse plugged in to be sure, and it worked! I tested this once more and it again disabled touch, and the same fix, fixed it, no idea how this is disabling the touch screen even to the point it doesn't work in the BIOS... but it does, and at least this fix works XD. So maybe if somebody else gets the same issue then here is the solution (for me at least).

  • Touch screen does not work

I just got an HP elitebook 2760p.   Everything works...except that I cannot seem to get the touchscreen to work.   Whether the screen is up (like a regular laptop), or flipped down (like a tablet), it does not respond to fingers or to the pen that comes with the computer.  I have tried using the touch screen while using internet explorer, while using the "desktop" of windows 7, and also while booting up the computer with it flipped like a tablet.
There is probably a very simple answer...and once I get it, I'll feel like a beef mind, but for the life of me I can't figure it out.   I can't seem to find any swich to turn on, whether physical or in the windows setting pages.  The computer did not come with a manual, but I looked up on the online manual and there is no information on "how to use the touch screen"
Is there something that I must "turn on" in Windows 7, or a switch somewhere on the side of the computer which I need to flip to use the touch screen?   Could I be missing a driver?

  • X1 20A7 Win8.1 Pro - touch screen not working

    Hi,
just got my new X1 Carbon TS (i7 4450U, 8Gbyte) with Windows 8.1Pro. Unfortunatly I cannot get the touch running and ran out of ideas. I have searched all the forums but could not find a solution. The only workaround that works is the one  to remove the touch USB Input device after startup and re-scan the HW. After that the touch works fine. Clearly seems to be a driver issue.
Is there any solution for this issue out there or am I the only one facing this kind of problem ?
    Any help appreciated !
    Cheers

Allow me to throw my hat into this ring as I have a user with the same issue and the same PC. Occasionally, about once a day his touchpad and touchscreen stop working. He has a 2nd Gen X1 Carbon 20A7 with Win 8.1 Ent. I have done two things thus far but do not know if it will alleviate the problem.
-Stopped and disabled the Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service
-Located the HID Touch Screen Driver in the Device Manager and unchecked the box in the Power Management Tab that would allow Windows to turn the device off.
Unless someone has a better idea of where to check this is all I have.

    Hello theow,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand the touch screen on your notebook is not detected after updating to Windows 8.1.
This would be the best place to start: Troubleshooting Touch Screen Issues in Windows 8. This is a great document that covers touchscreen issues from start to finish. Do not be alarmed that it states the document pertains to TouchSmart PC's, as the steps are the same.
It would also help to know which product you are using so I can give you more detailed information, such as driver downloads.

  • Keyboard not working (On login screen!)

    Hi there,
I have a customer with a brand new PC with 8.1
It was running fine for a few days - then they called me to say they could not login...
I logged in remotely and saw that the on-screen keyboard was on the screen at the login stage.
I was able to login remotely as I was not using the physical keyboard.
I Googled the issue and found a fair few similar issues.
I found that if the user, a) turned off the on-screen keyboard & b) clicked the Accessibility icon and then turned off the options in there (Sticky Keys, Toggle Keys and  Filter Keys) the physical keyboard then started working...
So that seemed to fix it.
The other discussions I read seemed to suggest the fix for the issue is to go into Control panel >> Ease of Access & turning these things of permanently...
So I did that, but on reboot, they revert back and the user cannot login back in & is forced to follow my instructions on closing the on-screen keyboard, turning off the Accessibility options, so they can then login each time they turn their computer on
    - most inconvenient!.
It is very frustrating and would very much appreciate if anyone has a solution...
    Thanks, Dave
