PHYSICALLY HAVE A BLU RAY DRIVE but properties lists HP TS L633r NOT blu ray

I have a HP Pavilion Laptop DV7-6B55DX,A1T53UA#ABA Windows 7 Pro. 64 bit, The Specks. shows it to have a Super Multi DVD Burner TS L633R as the optical drive. It also shows up in My Drive Properties. BUT, I PHYSICALLY HAVE A BLU RAY DRIVE. I verified this by the drive cover branded with Blu- Ray Disc and Logo, and the Laser Light being Blue rather than red, additionally seeing a Lightscribe sensor. After Hours on Phone with HP they say I don't have Blu Ray (because the Specks. say it is not so). Had a Case Mgr telling me that the Laptop was Modified by someone, and it did not come from the factory with it. I bought it at BB Factory Sealed. It also went to HP Repair for an un related problem and they verified that the Laptop was never Modified. Case Mgr. wants me to send it back for eng. to look at and remove the Blu Ray and put in a Super Multi DVD Burner, as the Factory specks called for. The only thing I need is to find out what Blu Ray I have so I can get drivers/firmware. PS Case Mgr. was not willing to do any type of Compensation,
So, the Drive will not play Blu Ray Disks. Windows does not recognize a Blu Rayt on the drive. I have looked everywhere do not even know how to get a driver/firmware to make it work since, after looking everywhere for a driver and or Firmware to get it work, Additionally, I do not know what the Blu Ray drive really is

Serial Number [Personal Information Removed] is what should be in my laptop. Their Serial # is 14 Characters. HP's factory says this was shipped in the laptop.
They told me to pop out occ and verify the numbers, if they are the same, it is not blu ray. I am hestant to do so since it is still in warranty. PS Case Mgr told me firmly if I had to send it back in repair they would remove the occ drive, since they have a case # and put a super multi as per spec into it. so, my serial # wont help you, will it?.

I am having trouble installing. downloaded Mavericks but it will not let me install to hard drive, says that is reserved for Time Machine. I have an external hard drive, but disconnected that before download.

Check to see if you have a file name Backups.backupdb on the disk drive.
If the installer sees such a file it assumes that the disk drive is being used by Time Machine.

Here's my lo-tech solution (if you have Parallels) to this frustrating problem:
Eject your hard drive.
Unplug (USB) your hard drive from the MAC .
Start Parallels.
When Windows has started, plug your drive back into the MAC.
You should get a little screen asking if you want the drive to be utilized by MAC or Windows. Select Windows.
Use Windows to copy your files over to the hard drive.
This is less than ideal and not a long-term solution, but I was afraid of attempting any reformatting since I have many files on my hard drive.
Just remember that Windows has to be running first, before you plug in your hard drive.

I would like to offer you some additional hair, but I've pulled mine out as well. I have created a slideshow of my daughter's new house (a very nice place indeed) as a house-warming gift, took all the pix myself with a throw-away camera made into CD's, imported all of the photos, cropped and enhanced with Iaza online free photo editor, re-saved the new ones to a folder, imported the selected ones into iPhoto, had the best thematic photo printed in 8x10 format, bought the black DVD's, made the MPEG-4 movie as well as the suggested exportable to iPhone, created a folder with the slides, crafted a nice playlist in iTunes, merged it all in iPhoto, but cannot successfuly export it into iDVD. The technical documentation and writing for some of this stuff is sloppy and sometimes unintelligible. The instructional videos are incomplete. The One-on-One fellow was most helpful the other day and said Apple doesn't really have or support an functional DVD creation tool and suggested I choose one or another "app" at the "app store", but the reviews for the two major ones are shallow in depth and I haven't yet sprunf for the $20-$40 download so I can re-experience the difficult learning curve. The Macintoshs I once used were incredibly intuitive; the iMac requires some study. The slideshow I have is imperfect becauae it keeps reverting to custom slide-specific choices I have decided (several times) that I do not want, but it keeps slipping back into "Ken Burns" mode and some of the photos don't work in that mode because of their format. But I will settle for less-than-perfect if I can figure out the best way to export the MPEG-4 I have created into a Maxell DVD-R some time before my daughter's toddlers aged 4 and 2 get into kindergarten.

Please repost in the Final Cut Pro forum. Have you considered upgrading your machine, if you are still running Leopard your machine may be as old as 5 years old. While this should not matter you probably won't get the performance you want out of a demanding app like FCP.

You should get an external drive and start backing up immediately. Not maintaining a backup is asking for trouble.

If you are not in the US then you cannot use the US store, the store's terms say that you have to be in a country to use it - if you are using the US store then you are risking having your account disabled.

Well when you download the update with iTunes it will always download the whole new version (in your case 7.0.2) even if its just an bug fix. If you already have 7.0 download the update over-the-air.
You already wrote that the update is only 21 MB, so its not the whole firmware package of 7.0.2 you get with iTunes.

1 - do not put your iPhoto library on the same volume as the time machine backup - TM continues to grow its backup until it fills that volume at which point you will not be able to use the iPhoto library (which may be your problem now) - and you have no backup since TM can not back up anyting that is on its backup volume - and it if cound when the drive fails which it will someday you would lose everything anyway - you must have a second external hard drive right away

Put 65GB on hard drive but Properties says 127GB is being used

My C: drive appears to be using more space than what I put on it. When I open my C: drive I have 12 folders listed; three which are using the most memory: Documents and Settings is using 45GB, Program Files is using 10GB, and Windows is using 7GB. The rest of the folders are using about 3GB so I've taken up roughly 65GB of my 160GB hard drive. But, my C: drive Properties shows Used space: 127GB, Free space: 15.6GB, Capacity: 143GB. I know the Operating System and whatnot take up some of the space but it can't be 60GB worth? What else could possibly be taking up the rest of my hard drive? Here are my specs:
Windows XP Pro, Version 2002, SP 3 (Bought Vista with XP downgrade)
Intel Core 2 Duo P8600, 2.4GHz
2.39GHz, 2.98GB RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon 3470, 256MB

Check your backups with Rescue and recovery.
You can get there by going to
Start->All Programs->ThinkVantage->Rescue and Recovery
Once program is opened Click "advanced" and then "delete backups"
From there you should have a list of current HDD backups on system.
If there aren't any here, or not the source of the problem, use Lenovo Tool Box's Disk Space Manager to figure out what is taking up the space.
You can get there by going to
Start->All Programs->Lenovo Services->Lenovo Systems Toolbox.
If you don't see the folder then your system isn't up to date but you can download it manually here.
* P.S. If you are using a windows from Lenovo it will have an hidden F11 partition using anywhere between 10GBs to 20GBs of HDD space. this partition can be removed but contains diagnostic tools and a back up of windows factory state.
