PI 7.0 - Design - Release Transfer Question

Hi,
i created a new SWCV to extend a consisting integration scenario design. I'd like to copy the existing objects from the "old" SWCV 2.00 into the "new" SWCV 2.01. I'd like to use the function "Release Transfer", so that i have to change the consisting objects only in one place. I also want avoid to copy-paste all objects and namespaces.
Is this possible? If yes, how can i do this? Are there any howTo's or blogs.
If i just use the wizard, in the end i got always the same error:
Object Interface Mapping IM_History_ALG2IF | http://mynamespace/mapping cannot be imported into software component version SC_JDA , 2.01 of jda.com because it's namespace is not permitted there Define the relevant namespaces in the target version before executing the release transfer

Hi
By using release transfer function, you can transfer design objects within an Integration Repository to other software component versions as follows:
1) From a current software component version to the subsequent version, once development in the current version is finished
2) From a software component version to an older version of the same software component, for example to make a correction available in an older version.
3) From a software component version to a version of another software component. For example, this may be necessary because you may want to stop objects of software components that are based on each other from being available in the sub-software component, and only make them available in the superior software component.

To use Web Application Designer release 2004s do we need to have portals???

I would like some clarity regarding whther we need a portal or not.
If you use Web Application Designer (SAP BW 3.x) it works fine, you can create reports and then it shows in SAP Easy Access under favourites. Executes fine, no portal is used.
Now when I want to use the new Web Application Designer I can not execute the reports. Gives me error
"Java communication error: RFC destination NOT_CONFIGURED does not exist", the window it appears in has a text saying it can't conect to the portal. Then notes that I look at regarding this seems that the connection between SAP BW and Portal must be set up.
So can please someone tell me whether you need the portal to use the new Web Application Designer release 2004s

How to handle Release transfer for Configuration objects in PI 7.1?

Hello Experts,
In my current project we are working on Release1 production bug fixing (JDBC to IDoc interface) and parallely on release2 enhancement (field addition, mapping changes) for the same object.
I have used release transfer to copy IR objects (mapping, etc) from SWCV 1.0 to SWCV 2.0 and started making Rel2 mapping changes in SWCV 2.0 IR objects. But, am not able to create the ID objects (receiver determination, interface determination, etc) for Rel2 SWCV objects. Even though I select interface from SWCV 2.0, it says object already exists.
Please suggest.

Hi,
AFAIK ,SWC is not a part of the Key in identifying the receiver determination in the PI 7.1 also....
which means that no need to create the ID objects again...as said for the changes (sender channel and inbound interface structure...) only change will be in the ESR interface structure.. which will be used by the ID...provided the same namespace is used for the changed message type also....

Problem with release-transfer

Hi,
I have created a new softwarecomponent version and I've tried I release-transfer.
It worked fine but in the old softwarecomponent version there where "imported objects" (IDocs) and these IDocs are not in the new softwarecomponent version.
Does anybody know how to get these Idocs into new softwarecomponent version?

Hi.
In your new softwarecomponent, you need to click the tap:
Import of RFC and IDoc Interfaces from SAP system permitted.
Its located under the software component itself!
You need to fill out System, Client, Message Server and Group.

Release transfer

Hi guys,
I understand that release transfer is used to move objects from one SWC version to another .
I am having a new SWCV SRM server 7.0 ( PI content ) and a older swcv POscenarios ( having custom mappings using objects in SRM server 3.0 )
In my case i am using release transfer to copy object from a new software component version to an older version of the same software component, for example to make a correction available in an older version.
However I am concerned about the custom mappings in the SWCV POscenarios because if the structure of message type changes the mapping will go away.
Is there any way to do this such that the mapping does not get affected.

What Michal said is the easiest way, but if you Basis team wants more details then just do this....
To find out exactly with Role you're missing just use transaction su53. It will display User Authorization info. You'll see where it says "You are not authorized to...." Someone from you Basis team should be able to find out which Role has the missing object. Then they would just add you to the Role. This is assuming you have access to su53.

Error in release transfer

Hi,
When i do a release transfer i get a Error message "Object Message Mapping MM_aa | http://bb cannot be imported into software component version TARGET, 1.0 of target because it's namespace is not permitted there Define the relevant namespaces in the target version before executing the release transfer"
I tried having the same Namespaces in both the SWCVs but dint work (It threw a warning ofcurse that the namespace is same)...
Any clues??

release transfer should work by steps what have you followed only requirement is to have create the similar namespace in the target software component first and then do the release transfer.
one thing jsut try unchecking the target SWCV (original objects option at down it should work then)

Release Transfer from SAP Basis 7.00

Hi, I am trying to release Integration Process from SAP Basis 7.00 (name space http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Patterns to one of the SWCV I have been working on. The Release Transfer is not working complaining about name space does not exist in my SWCV, whereas I have created the http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Patterns.
Is there way to do this...?

You can not use http://sap.com....... in your custom namespace.This is reserved for SAP Standard namespaces.
Please change that to http://yourCompanyName.com....... and then do a release transfer.

DB10g and Designer Release 9

Hello dear friends.
Please help, where I wring?
I have new installation Windows XP on my PC,
I installed next Db server:
Oracle Database 10g Release 1 (10.1.0.2) for Microsoft Windows (32-bit)
10g_win32_db.zip
It work all right, I tested it in different ways.
After I installed next application:
Oracle10g Designer Release 9.0.4.7
10g_designer_scm_9047.zip
For work with DB server.
But when I try start Designer, it shows message, can't load librarys:
oran9.dll ora(XXXXX)9.dll
Please let me know, where my mistake.

You will need to install the repository on the Database

Release Transfer - S/W Component Version - Conflict

Hello Alll,
I did a release transfer of a particular Namespace from S/W Component Version u2013 1.0 to 2.0. By transfer I didnu2019t get any error message, but after the transfer, I found some of the message types still shows the older S/W component version i.e. 1.0.
This happens only in u201CProcess Integration Scenariou201D that too partly. Other components of the name space displays right version i.e. 2.0. If anyone overcame such a situation, please let me know the procedure to avoid such a conflict.

Either you or someone else might have changed the process integration scenario manually in 2.0 version that is causing conflict.
You can check the history and object versions to make sure who did it and what has been done during this manual change.
If the manual change done is not necessary then go to conflict tab, click on the object and select the latest 2.0 version object (displayed object button) and save it
To avoid this happening from next time, do not make changes to 2.0.... watever changes are required, do it in 1.0 and do a release transfer

There's a free image editor, Xee, that you can use from within iPhoto to mirror flip, rotate, etc. losslessly.

Release Management questions

Hi all,
I've been looking at Visual Studio Release Management and on the whole, I think it's good, but I have a few issues that someone here may have already worked around.
Can I send an email to a group of users once the deployment is complete that includes custom text
including details about the build (e.g. build number)?
Is it possible to skip stages? We have 4 Development environments, but may not always want to deploy to all of them before moving onto Test
Our builds create 4 different sets of output - one for each environment (DEVT, TEST, STAG and PROD). Each of these is in a separate folder. Do I have to define separate components for each of these and specify the build number of each of them when triggering
a release? One of our apps has 7 different components and if I have to enter the build number 7x4 times it is going to take a while!
How can I run a script against a database that is not in a fixed location - e.g. c:\buildoutput\app\1.2.3 (4.5.6.7)\scripts\scripttorun.sql if the folder that contains the build output is different for every build (i.e. the version number changes)
Easy questions to answer I'm sure, but any help will be appreciated :)

If you are planning on going for RM 'all in', in my experience it's probably best to be prepared to ditch what you already have in terms of deployment artefacts and start again so it works best with RM. This isn't as bad as it sounds. My thoughts as follows:
As far as I can see RM doesn't have a role in deploying to desktop clients as it's not designed for that.
My preference is to xcopy stuff where possible. If there are problems xcopy feels like it's going to be the easiest to debug.
You want to define one build definition that results in each of your deployables in 9 separate folders (I'm assuming the client is now out of scope here) as files you can xcopy with a tokenisation story in place for each deployable. (Different
story for web apps and services.)
You define your environments via Configure Paths > Environments
You link your environments / stages in a chain / pipeline via Configure Paths > Agent-based Release Paths (assuming you are not using DSC)
You create 9 components for each of your deployables. You don't worry about the build version as RM dynamically supplies this but you do specify the 'Path to package' eg \WebApp1Folder\_PublishedWebsites\WebAppName. The component will also
deal with tokenisation.
The components are used in the Agent-based Release Template which is based on the Agent-based Release Path specified earlier. Your 9 components will be used at each stage. The 'Path to package' will always be the same but the config will change as
required for each stage. There is no need to specify a parameter for the environment since you will reuse the component in each environment.
Your DEVT / virtual garages problem sounds like it needs some thought. Is DEVT part of the deployment pipeline ie is it a critical part of the route to live? If not then you will want to treat them separately.
Hope all this makes sense. At my work we are implementing continuous delivery on existing applications and it's 50 times harder than creating a demo pipeline.

Let me give some details and break up the problem
in more specific questions:
- In Designer 8.1 I click new data binding --> wsdl -->
http://www.webservicex.net/globalweather.asmx?wsdl
A message box comes up and says "cannot load wsdl file"

Why maybe refuses Designer to load the http-wsdl,
although this option is explicitly allowed?
- When I save the wsdl to a file, Designer loads it
without any problems. The web service uses two input parameters
(CountryName and CityName) and returns an xml-string GetWeatherResult)
like the one in my first posting. I drag these fields from the binding view to my form, and it runs ok!
- THE PROBLEM IS, THAT I NEET TO EXTRACT THE ELEMENT FIELDS
FROM THE RESULT XML-STRING!

How to extract xml element fields from wsdl output into a form?
- I tried with eclipse and XmlSpy to build a modified wsdl file
with structured output definition, so that the specific element fields
show up in the data binding view and are usable to my form,

when the wsdl-binding is executed and the web service output

Log and transfer question

OK I was wondering if when I import AVCHD from my hard drive if the original files would be damaged at or removed at all. I just had a slight issue, and was wondering if that would be a problem. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

my apologies. I have a 750 gb. usb harddrive that I use for storage, and a Sony Handycam hdr-cx7. I thought that maybe I could drag all of the contents from my memory stick into a folder and import them as needed using log and transfer. What made me ask the question was basically what is the transfer part. I'm sorry if I'm wasting your time. Anyway, I did that with some test AVCHD video and it came out OK, but tonight when I went to import it again, because I didn't save my work (I was just messing around) it gave me a message that says, ""08:5:29" contains unsupported media or has an invalid directory structure. Please choose a folder whose directory structure matches supported media." This may be my procedure problem, but it is nice to have the storage option. Thanks again.
