PI 7.4 Single Stack support for Principle Propagation SAML

Hi Folks,
Que: Does the single stack now support Principle Propagation using SAML?
The posts I have read so far conclude that SAML is only supported on the dual stack, not the single stack.
SAP Help gives steps for dual stack: Configuring Principal Propagation (SAML) - SAP Help Portal
This post from 2013 concludes no support for SAML in the single stack: PI 7.31 AEX - Principal Propagation
My time would better spent looking for an alternative solution for Principal Propagation rather than chasing something which is not supported (SAML on single stack).
Any help appreciated.

  • Trying to buy single instance support for FMS from Adobe. Need help.

    Hey all,
I've spent all day on the phone with Adobe trying to purchase single incident support for some server side developement questions on Flash Media Interactive Server 3.0.
So far I have not been able to find anyone at Adobe that knows how to do this. The web site says it is possible and they even give a number to call but I've talked to at least three people at that number and no one could help me. I've also talked to people in Sales, Volume license sales, and at least three different areas in technical support and no one seems to know how to get it done. Has anyone ever successfully purchased single incident support for FMS 3 and if so is there some specific number I could call to talk to someone who can make it happen.
    -John

I am answering my own question. After spending an entire afternoon on the phone being bounced around between Adobe technical support and Adobe sales, I've come to the determination that you cannot buy single incident support for Flash Media Server. At least I was never able to talk to someone at Adobe that knew if it was possible. The number on the web site where it specifically says to call for purchase of single incident support for FMS is not the correct number.

  • WS Adapter(PI 7.1) vs SOAManager? PI 7.4 Single Stack capabilities for WS-RM

    Hi Experts,
The dual-stack SAP PI came with WS Adapter had the Direct communication capabilities between 2 ERP systems skipping IE, which made the communication fast and also gave the additional monitoring capabilities of PI to the communication.
With SAP PI 7.4, we do not have WS Adapter. Is this a set back? or Was it unnecessary looking at the existence of SOAManager configuraitons?
Can anyone some points on WS Adapter vs SOAMANAGER for WS-RM configurations/direct communication between 2 ERP systems?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Vikas Kumar Singh

    (a) I am under the impression that WS -RM adapter used for Web services cannot be used in asynchronous scenarios. Am I correct?
Actually WS adapter only supports Asynchronous communication (EO/ EOIO)
    (b) If WS-RM Adapter can be used for asynchronous scenarios, how do we do it?
The corresponding Service Interface (in your case sender) should be having mode as Asynchronous
    (c) Since I assume that WSRM Adapter cannot be used for asynchronous scenarios, if I use the scenario WSRM - IDOC
(asynchronous) adapter, then I have to use BPM (Sync-Async communication). Am I correct to believe that WSRM -IDOC
integration is not possible without BPM?
    (d) In case WSRM-IDOC integration is ONLY possible with BPM, is WS-RM --- ABAP Proxy better than WS-RM -- IDOC integration?
    NA
    Update:
To confirm what I said refer the QoS column for WS adapter in the table over here:

  • ResourceManager support for single-plural, feminine-masculine cases

    Hello,
I am developping a large scale website with support for multiple languages.
I am using the ResourceManager to manage the switch of languages by the user. It works OK, but I have some cases where I cannot find
    a proper solution.
I wan to display different strings for plural and single cases. For example:
    You have 1 image
    You have 3 images
And I want to do it automatically, not through asking in the code:
    if (numImages > 1) { display (ResourceManager.getString(locale,images_string_from_properties_file)} else {
                             display (ResourceManager.getString(locale,image_string_from_properties_file)} .
There is a solution for that using a gnu utility xgetText, where you generate for each msg-string a single and plural versions, but it does not work
well with AS3 (or any other AS), since it is based on C. (it is explained in
    http://www.sephiroth.it/phpwiki/index.php?title=Gettext_actionscript3
, but does not cover the problematic issues, and so has no advantage over ResourceManager).
The same issue goes for languages where the feminine and masculine differ - like arabic and hebrew (and probably others).
Has any one dealt with these issues before ?.
    Thanks
    Elisheva

You'll need different tags for each string in the bundle.  If you put your own layer over that, that might be an excellent thing to share with others.

  • Support for Single Labeled Domain

Question - When will Microsoft stop supporting "Single Label Domains"?  Now with Windows Server 8 in the horizon, I would like to know if it will let you upgrade your current AD infrastructure if it is setup as a Single Label Domain.

I'm sorry, but I truly don't know. The reason that I don't know, is I've never tested it or let an AD infrastructure remain as a single label name for this length of time. I've fixed a number of them in the distant past with renames. I'm not aware of anyone
currently with a single label name until I saw this thread.
From what I see, I don't really think so if it hasn't caused any issues up to this point.
Besides, why do you want to bump the levels up? Is there something you are trying to introduce that requires the levels at 2008 R2? If it's DNS based, it may fail anyway due to the single label name, because the basis of the single label name is DNS *thinks*
it's a TLD, such as "COM," "NET," etc. That's why it's problematic. DNS is hierarchal and requires a minimum of a two level domain name.
So if you have a computer, called computer1, and your domain name is DOMAIN. Then the computer's FQDN is computer1.domain. But that looks like a domain name. Make sense?
Anyway, I'm sure you've heard this and read that in my blog. I'm curious ... Will you be planning on renaming your domain?

  • Container Layout Web Item supported for PDF Printing (Stack 11)

Dear all and Mr. Prakash Darji
I had an information that PDF export would be supported for Container Layout Web Item with SPS11. We hrecently have installed SPS11 but the functionality is still not available.
Does any one have more info on this ? Has SAP changed the plan ?

    Title:Publishing Strategies

    NetWeaver RIG

I' an APEX newbie and believe I am having the same or a similar problem. I am (for now) developing a system using the hosted Apex development system online. I have created a Report Query which works fine with the default layout. I downloaded the XML (tried both sample data and schema) into Word 2007 with the BI Publisher Template Builder. I used the table wizard to create a simple layout containing all columns with no customization at all. Saved as an RTF, uploaded to Apex as a Report Layout, associated it with the Report Query, clicked Test Report -- and I got nothing.
When the is a PDF, I get the same error you mention ( Adobe Reader could not open the <file name> because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded ). If I switch to an HTML file the out is just a blank screen.
If I switch back to generic report layout, it works fine. This suggests there is something wrong with the template, though it looks fine in Word with the sample data.
I've searched the forums and Google for the better part of a day. What am I missing?

    Hi All,
My PO version: 7.4, SP4. I am not sure my questions below are still a limitation in current PI/PO single stack systems, and hence requesting your help for the same.
    1) Is there a way we can track outbound idocs in SAP PI/PO single stack similar to PI abap stack IDX5? ( Note:- I couldn't find any option in IDOC monitoring in single stack SAP PO 7.4, SP4)
    2) IDOC status is always 0 in SAP PO 7.4 single stack IDOC monitoring. I am not sure if this status is just specific to my PO system. Any setting needs to be applied?

  • Single stack vs. Dual Stack - Why does SAP recommend single stack?

    Hello SAP,
I am a business partner who specializes in infrastructure consulting for SAP solutions.  The SAP Consultants I am working with recently have been recommending that customers install single stack systems.  I would like to know why? Are there problems with dual stack systems?  Is SAP changing things in a later release and they want customers to be prepared for the change?
From an infrastucture point of view this recommendation combined with SAP NetWeaver architecture will result in an explosion of SID names which leads to an explosion of application server instances and DBMS instances and an explosion of installed servers.  I know it is possible to combine SIDs into a single DBMS using MCOD and to have multiple application servers in a single physical server, but there are issues with mulitple application server instances and MCOD use which make normal maintenance operations difficult.
I think it would be much better for customers to install dual stack systems and simply adjust the SAP profile parameters to disable one stack or the other.  This way, you could still have 1 stack per application server instance and you would not be have to be creative with SAP SID names!!!  Creating a DBMS instance or installing an additional server is not a simple nor economical proposition.
    Regards,
    Zaz

I am a business partner who specializes in infrastructure consulting for SAP solutions.  The SAP Consultants I am working with recently have been recommending that customers install single stack systems.  I would like to know why? Are there problems with dual stack systems?
    The problems are:
    - difficult to size and maintain - Java + ABAP will fight for resources (memory,CPU) and there´s not much one can do to tune if either ABAP or Java as dual stack instance on a single box is running nuts (for whatever reason).
    - System copies via R3load - if you want to copy a huge system (let´s say ERP 6.0 + Java stack) you need to use sapinst + R3load to do the copy. Imagine if the system is 1 TB or bigger, this is very time consuming
    - Upgrades are complicated - if you upgrade a dual stack system you need to run two PREPARES and two upgrades at the same time - there are sync points each upgrade wait for the other to finish --> difficult to plan in sense of runtimes and even more notes/preparation to do (a dual stack SolMan upgrade from 3.2 to 4.0 had almost 100 notes (technical!) and two upgrade preparation guides...)
    - interdependencies - example: you run ERP + EP + BI-Java on one system. You upgrade your BI (which is on a different box) to a new support package. Since the BI-Java need to be in sync with the BI ABAP support package you need to upgrade the EP too - and since there´s a direct dependency (doublestack system) you will need to install support packages on your ERP. So you finally end up in having dependency chains that a total different system (BI) will force you to upgrade/patch your ERP. And if you have e. g. a CRM connected to the same EP you will need to patch that too...
Is SAP changing things in a later release and they want customers to be prepared for the change?
No - the possibility of having a dual stack installation will be still there.
I agree - MCOD is not a good solution for this problem.
There are 36 * 36 * 36 (minus a few reserved) names for SIDs- this should be enough - also for the biggest customers
Of course one could install both and disable the one you don´t need - but this won´t help in dependency thing. If you e. g. install a dual stack instance for CRM and disable the Java part, you can nicely run it. In case of an upgrade, you will need to upgrade the Java part too (see above) although you don´t use it. The upgrade will detect the doublestack and wait for the java instance to be upgraded too. Same is true vice versa. And believe me: you don´t want that
In fact it is better to separate - that´s at least our experience. The main no-go for such a configuration on our side was the dependency thing. Since they are there and you can´t do much about them we decided to have a 1:1 relationship for ABAP backend and Java "frontend". You will get more instances (and names and databases) but you can patch applications independently from each other. So an implementation of a  BI patch won´t imply that you finally also patch your ERP production and other systems that connect to that portal.
There are virtualization techniques available to not need more boxes, you can consolidate them on one machine as if you were installing a dual stack so that is not really an issue. This depends, of course, on the platform and database you use (e. g. Oracle does not support production installations in VMWare). We use for our Java instances Solaris on Opteron (or Intel 64bit) and zones/containers and for the ABAP part we use Linux + Xen. Both virtualization methods come with the OS (so no additional $$$) and both are supported by SAP.
The propagated advantage of having a dual stack installation (shared memory access etc.) is so small that it doesn´t outban the additional complexity - which is definitely there.
I hope those arguments will help to understand SAPs (and the consultants) position - get back if you want more

  • Future support for C++0x in Sun Studio

I've recently been having to defend my choice of using the sun studio compiler against several gcc advocates here in the office. The one reasonable issue they keep bringing up is when the upcoming C++0x (more like C++1x or even C++2x at the pace the standards committee is operating at) features will be available in complete fashion in sun studio. They say, and I have to begrudgingly agree, that judging by the amount of time it took studio to support boost (template templates, certain partial template specializations, etc), there could be a long delay between the release of gcc's C++0x support and that of studio's.
I understand that many of the new features of C++0x, even from initial glance, appear to be quite complicated, especially lambda functors and their associated []/auto return types, variadac template parameters and class concept checking. In addition, I understand gcc has an unfair advantage so to speak since it is being used as the test bed for many of the committee proposal submitter's proof-of-concept implementations (the variadic template parameter feasibility implementation written for gcc comes to mind).
Could a developer please assuage my fears and inform me that the studio team has a roadmap/timeframe in place to release a studio that fully supports the new language-level features in a reasonably competitive time frame? It apparently will be the responsibility of the STLPort team to essentially copy many of boost's libraries (shared_ptrs, random numbers, type_traits) and rename them and move them to the std namespace and also supply the new unordered<> containers, to name a few.
I for one can't wait until boost::mpl, boost::fusion, boost::format and others are all reduced from 10's of 1000's of lines of pre-processor generated crufty template definitions to a single variadic template declaration. Also, I won't feel quite so willfully derelict to efficient code every time i bust out an std::for_each and drop in a boost::bind generated functor and instead can use a lambda function with the various efficiency gains ranging from direct referencing to the stack variables passed in as the closure arguments to the ability for the compiler to actually inline the body of the lambda function where appropriate.
I'm in no way trying to accuse you compiler developers of being slow to implement features, but just would like to be assured that there is nothing to worry about and there is a plan and current work being done on the required features. I know it's still a couple of years off, but I personally can't wait to replace hundreds of lines of boost::bind() calls with their more efficent lambda equivalent, and in addition clean up interfaces that could have used boost::bind if it weren't for the unacceptable overhead introduced often executed blocks of code.
    Thanks,
Chris Knight - Faithful sun studio user through at least 2 major name changes and since at lest when it was called Forte 4.2 and RougeWave and classicIO libraries roamed the earth in vast quantities.
P.S. I truly fear that the other 3 major compilers (gnu, intel, ms) will be out the door with C++0x in around the same time and boost will then willingly drop support for the sun compiler if it doesn't support the required language features at that time as they had no problem not supporting studio at all until Studio 12 so I'm sure as soon as the 3 compilers they run nightly tests with support it, they'll be just as eager to
make use of the new features as I am.
This leaves someone who has based their entire system on Solaris + SunStudio + Boost in a potentially undesirable situation. Solaris is far too stable and Linux to ever-changing to ever consider Linux as a platform for critical systems yet the idea of running g++ on Solaris w/ gcc's propensity to change their ABI on a weekly basis gives me immediate heartburn.
    Thanks again.

You raise some very good points, and believe me, we are even more aware of them than you are!
Short answer: We are planning to bring out a compiler conforming to C++0X in a timely fashion.
    Longer answer:
Right now, we are working on providing binary compatibility with g++ as an option in the next compiler release. When we are done, you will be able to use g++ headers with Sun C++, and link the code with binaries created by g++. The first implementation will be on Linux. (Which versions of g++ and which versions of Linux? Stay tuned.)
Implementing all the new features of C++0X will require a re-design of parts of the compiler front end. The current compiler organization does not support "concepts", for example. (We've been looking for an excuse to re-design the front end for a while, and C++0x is not just an excuse -- it's a requirement.) With the g++ ABI work done, we'll ready to start the re-design, and begin to implement C++0x features.
We won't release an official (stable, fully-supported) product with C++0X features until the standard is final. Until then, any feature could change in unpredictable ways. We got caught by that problem with C++ 4.2 and C++98 -- we implemented what we thought were final features that changed dramatically after we released the compiler. We won't do that again. Compiler stability is one of our most important considerations.
Beginning some time next year, we expect to have Express releases with some C++0X features. Express releases are our way of providing compilers with experimental features that might not be stable yet. It gives our customers a chance to try them out and provide feedback before they become part of a stable release. That is to say, a feature flagged as experimental is subject to change, and compatibility with other Express or official releases is not guaranteed. We can therefore fix bugs and catch up with late changes in the Standard as necessary.
We have not yet done all the planning for our C++0X compiler, so I can't give you any estimates about specific feature availability and time frames. When we are farther along, we'll post the road map on a public site, and I'll announce it here.

  • Support for Bracketing

Hey Adobe, how about adding support for exposure bracketing?  The camera vendors have put a lot of work and money into making this usable when shooting, but in LR I have to use stacking for bracketed frame sequences, but it's not a great solution.  Here's why:
It's a huge time waster to manually stack an entire shoot that includes lots of bracketed frames. All other aspects of my normal import workflow are nicely automated, expect for grouping bracket shots.  I'd like LR to automatically group bracketed shots, so they appear as a single logical photograph with alternative exposures.  I'm not sure if Nikon and Canon DSLR's tag framed shots as a single logical bracketed sequence or not, but the clever software engineers at Adobe could come-up with an effective heuristic if not.
LR needs a new abstraction for stacked frames (could be for both exposure and focus stacking).  Stacks are great, but I use them several different purposes, and frankly they are some weaknesses as implemented.  For example, moving a collapsed stack moves all the frames, but added keywords effects only the top frame (when shown collapsed).  Also the stack don't show-up in all views... like some collections for example (maybe smart collections?)   We photographers need a reliable way to manage a stack of frames that represent a single logical photo that we took using multiple frames.
While I'm at it, would it make sense to have LR stacks within stacks (just as PS allows groups of layers withing groups)?  I've certainly had occasions to want this, and it would make LR stacks a more powerful organizing tool.
I'm sure there is more to this issue that I've imagined, but exposure bracketing is important enough to merit dedicated buttons on the more capable DSLR's.  Seems the photographer's workflow tool of choice should provide an equally important abstraction to help us manage those frames.
    -- Thanks in advance, Jim

    Jim,
    1. There's already a way. menu Photo->Stacking->Auto-stack by capture time...
    2. Yes. Stacking isn't all that useful. For instance, a filter won't find images buried in collapsed stacks.
    3. It's a thought, but would be useless unless point 2 is taken care of.
