:twisted: I've had Arch on my ibm t-23 for a couple of weeks now. Excellent linux system. I have that other G thing on my desktop, and I'm about as fed up as I can get! Everytime I try to up grade I have to download or change something. The forums look like you need a engineering degree to understand them. Ask for help and you get flamed!
Sick of spending all my time trying to keep the thing running right.
Arch on the other hand is easy to use and maintain, the forums are friendly, and I had no trouble using pacman to get what I need.
One quick question -- I would like to install Arch on my desktop, but I have ATI Radeon for a video card. Should I change it for a Nivdia(Sp?) card?? Is there a way to get ATI drivers for Arch? Seen a lot of Archers complaining about ATI. Could use some feedback -- Thanks, Larry

No idea, but there is no reason to run hwd since you already know what kind of card it is, just use the generic radeon driver that is part of xorg.

Hwd does not load anything it only shows you what hardware you have and what modules you would need to load.

Pacman is part of the default installation of arch. If you are using arch it is installed. Pacman will NOT load the modules for you YOU must do that yourself.
Arch is intended for advanced users who don't want any extras doing things for them. At most basic configuration files will be installed with any given application other than that you have to set everything up yourself for your system.
Once you get get xorg installed (pacman -S xorg) run xorgconfig as root to generate a configuration file. When you get to the video driver section select the generic radeon option (#6 I think...). For your monitor unless you see something that says LCD pick generic vesa.

Here is what worked for me:
My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.

Try this now.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

In Firefox 3 you do not get the "Save & Quit" pop-up dialog if you choose Firefox > Preferences > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time".

IPhone 4 says connected to wifi but shows 3g connection. I've tried turning off 3g - that does enable the wifi logo, but then when I try to connect to something it changes to 2g. Tried resetting network connection in general setting.

When you say you have tried "everyihing" that doesn't provide enough information to help you, as one person's "everything" is quite different from another person's "everything". In the absence of knowing what you have tried, the following are the most common causes of this problem.
Turning off 3G will just switch you to EDGE. You can turn off Cellular Data, but that won't make it connect to WiFi if your WiFi isn't working, it will just eliminate all data access to your phone.
Easiest to try answer if it is only your home WiFi, and it works other places: Reboot your router.
Next, update the firmware in your router.
If it doesn't work with any WiFi anywhere first Reset Network settings. If that doesn't fix it, restore the phone using iTunes.
You didn't say what symptoms you got, or when you were trying to use WiFi. You do know that the iPhone turns off WiFi when the phone is on standby to preserve battery, right? So if it only fails to connect to WiFi when you are not actively using it that is normal.

Nope. You can always reverse that if you choose.

If your computer shipped with Snow Leopard, that means it shipped with two disks: an Install disk that contains the OS, and an applications disk that contains the iLife suite. You would use the applications disk to reinstall iLife.

It sounds that you are running the same iCloud account with two phones. I recommend you to create a different iCloud account and you should be all set.

HT1414 I upgraded to iOS 5 and my iPad cannot be recognized by my pc, my apple laptop or any other system. It doesn't even sync while connected to my wireless network. also, the iPad can only charge if I turn it off and plug it to either the wall outlet

After I upgraded to iOS 5 my pc and laptops (including the apple one) do not recognize the laptop when I connect to the USB. The wireless function does not function either. I cannot sync the iPad 2 anymore because of this. Also, the only way it charges is if I lug it to the wall or pc USB and turn it off. I was able to charge the device while it was on. Why is this happening? How can I fix it? If there is no fix, how can I revert back to an older iOS. I tried using the support apple instructions but the iPad is not recognized by the pc and I cannot sync the iPad iTunes to revert back to an older iOS. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

when you have the same issue after the SMC reset:
put new batteries in the MM (even if the others are not empty), turn Bluetooth off then on again on the MBA, take all USB connections out (if any), delete the pairing of the MM and re pair the MM.

HT4528 How do I transfer the photos from my iPhone 4S to my Windows 7 computer or any other system that can hold 2,500 photos?

Basically, I took a ton of pictures at past concerts, formal events, etc. So I need something to transfer all of those pictures onto. I currently have 9.1 GB of photos in my iPhone which really limits me on phone space. I would like to save these photos, they are very important to me. Also, I tried this before on my Windows 7 computer but it only downloaded 850-some pictures. I figured that was from the space left on the computer, but I'm not sure. If you could help you will be my favorite.

I doubt it was space left on the computer, unless you have space problems. You would use the Import feature in Windows 7. You can also try accessing it in Windows Explorer, open the device, open the folder and drag the photos over. Because you have so many, you may run into some difficulty, because the photos should be imported regularly in case something happens to the phone. That many photos also probably makes it difficult to backup, or at least take a long time to do it.
