PI Server Port to connect to an external MS SQL Server over jdbc

Hi All,
I need to connect to an MS SQL server from my PI Server but this SQL server is lying outside our company network.
To enable the connectivity, I have asked the IT Team to establish a VPN connectivity.
The IT team is asking for the port that need to be opened on the PI server to enable this connectivity.
Can you please tell me that which port on the PI server should be opened for this?
regards,
Piyush

Hi
Whether if you use Sender or Receiver communication channel, SAP PI always open the connection to remote server. That is, SAP PI is always the component client, therefore the only thing you should to open is the MS SLQ port.

  • How do I use my iMac's Firewire 800 port to connect to my external hardrive using a USB Micro-B input?

I have a late 2009 iMac with Firewire 800 input on the back.  I have a Western Digital Passport external hard drive with USB Micro-B input that I would like to connect to the Firewire (4 USB inputs aren't nearly enough on the iMac). I can't find an adapter to do this. Can someone please help??  As an alternative, is there an adapter that will convert the Firewire 800 to standard USB2.0?

USB and FireWire work in very different ways, so there is no adapter.
Instead, you should just get a USB 2.0 hub, like this one
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/USB2HB7PRO/
There are many choices, but be sure to get one that is powered (it comes with its own power supply).  Cheaper hubs rely on the computer's USB port for power.

  • Connecting to an external MS SQL Database

    Hi there,
we are a SaaS business currently running all of our applications on Azure. We now have a few customers in Switzerland and in order to comply with their IT and privacy laws, we have to run the database within Switzerland. Now we can easily get a hosting for
a MS SQL Database in Switzerland but my question is if it's somehow possible to connect a Windows Azure Website and Web Service to a MS SQL DB outside of Azure? I am aware that the performance will not be the best but I first would like to try to showcase
    the scenario. Any ideas?

you can have a look at the Azure Hybrid Connect (http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/web-sites-hybrid-connection-connect-on-premises-sql-server/)

  • Can't connect to external MS SQL server

I have two primaries and an external db. The two primaries were updated from 11.2.3 to 11.3. Everything is working great and the upgrade was successful.
My database runs on an external MS SQL server. It hosts both the zcm database and the audit database.
When I installed ZRS 5 I pointed it at one of my primaries. The install says it was successful and it appears to have successful pulled in my configuration for both zcm and zcm_audit to /opt/novell/zenworks-reporting/conf/zrs-configuration.xml.
I can log in to ZRS 5. When I try to create a report or run an existing report from the library I always get a connection error. It definitely looks like it can not connect to my external MS SQL db. I cranked all of the logging under Server Settings to DEBUG but I can not seem to find the logs.
I also tried following the Cool Solution using the downloaded zip and pointed it at my external db. It would not connect either. I know the username and password is correct and I tried the username in different styles: username@server, server\username, username. The only thing I can think of is my sql password for both of my users contains an extended character ! and =.
Any help as to where to look or what might be the issue is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jeff

I'm not sure, but I may recall hearing that it requires SQL Server Auth
    Credentials.
Again I'm only about 51% sure here.

  • Connecting to an external SSAS cube in SSDT 2012 on Windows Server 2008 R2 Core

    Good Evening,
We are experiencing issues when executing an SSIS package from a SQL Server job. However, when we execute the package locally, it is
successful. The package connects to an external SSAS cube using MDX. I have attached the error message below. The connection manager is OLE DB Provider for Analysis Services 11.0. We can successfully ping the external site where the cube is located from the
    server with the job.
We are using Windows Server 2008 R2 Core. We are trying to access an external cube through HTTPS by sending a username/password in the connection string. This is sent through an OLE DB connection in SSIS. I found an article which says that "Because
there is no Web browser, you cannot activate a Server Core installation or access the Internet through a firewall that requires users to log on." Does anyone have any additional details on this...is this a futile effort?
    Thanks - Brett

    Hi Brett,
According to your description, you are experiencing the error when you connect to SQL Server Analysis Services database on a SSIS package, right?
In your scenario, you said that the package can be executed successfully on your local environment, the issue only occurs on the SSAS server. So please ensure that the provider was installed on the server. Besides, here is a blog which describe how
to configure the Analysis Services Processing Task in SQL Server 2012 Integration Services, please refer to the link below to see the details.

what siebel component is trying to make the call to the external server?

What if any error does Siebel return?
I assume the server in windows since you mention connecting from IE on server works.

I still have problems with getting my website online. I have defined my server. Then I did the test and there was a connection via FTP. I put my files on the external server and there is a connection with the external server. But when I check to see my website online (with Firefox, Explorer, Chrome browser) I always get the message 'Forbidden, You don't have permission to access / on this server.' Can somebody help me please? I have to get my website online..Thank you!

    Hello Els,
it's well known, that in all these cases you describe I'm not a friend of a detailed Troubleshooting (I see Nancy#s smile already).
To be able to be independent in all this things It is one of the reasons why I prefer an external FTP program. The difficulties with which you have to fight encourage me in this opinion, not least because we always search for experts, we don't charge a "jack of all trades".
To manage several websites or to upload my files and sometimes for the opposite way, for a necessary download from my server or to use a "a site-wide synch", I'm using FileZilla. It simply looks easier for me to keep track of all operations precisely and generate or reflect easily the desired tree structure.
Above all, FileZilla has a feature (translation from my German FileZilla) called "compare file list". Here it's possible to use file size or modification time as a criterion. There is also the possibility to "hide identical files", so that only these files which you want to redact remain visible.
And even if it means you have to install a new program, I am convinced that there is an advantage. Here is the link to get it and where you can read informations about how it works:
    http://filezilla-project.org/ and http://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Tutorial#Using_the_site_manager
Mac: Mac OS X (Use: Show additional download options)
    http://filezilla-project.org/download.php
Of course, you also need all the access data to reach your server and for MIME issues, you should contact your web host/provider.
    Good luck!
    Hans-Günter
    P.S.
Since I use two screens, the whole thing became even more comfortable.

  • How can I connect to MySQL external database

    Hello.
I have a SAP system running in SQL Server 2003.
I need to connect to external MySQL DB., to operate with this information in ABAP program.
I have done the step necesary... I mean I go to DBCO transaction and configure the connection like this:
    DB CONNECTION --> AFIS
    DBMS --> MSS
    user name --> xxxxxx
    DBpass -->xxxxxx / xxxxxx
    Conn Info -->MSSQL_SERVER=192.168.1.233 MSSQL_DBNAME=alliance OBJECT_SOURCE=alliance
I do a test program, when I do the statement CONNECT TO, sy-subrc 0 and connection = DEFAULT... I mean, with this form I cannot connect to MySQL Database...
Can you help me to do this?? I think the problem it's the connection string in DBCO... but I'm not sure...,
Would be possible to connect by MySQL ODBC??? I mean , installing the ODBC driver in my SAP server, and using this in ABAP Program??
    Thks.
    DATA: BEGIN OF wa,
    cod_modelo(20),
    END OF wa.
    DATA: dbs TYPE dbcon-con_name.

    > It's for it, that when I go to DBCO... in DBMS ---... I can select Oracle, MSSQLServer, DB2... for this Databases..., exists the library (lib_dbsl)???
yes, for all those databases exists the database interface library.
    > In resume:
    >  IT'S NOT POSSIBLE CONNECT TO MYSQL!!! ... I cannot believe it!!!...
Well - as far as I remember there were some times ago efforts to port SAP applications to MySQL. That would explain why there's also a file "DDLMYS.TPL" created if you execute R3ldctl during a system copy - amongst DDL files for all other databases. I believe this was at the time MySQL was promoting SAPDB/MaxDB.
MySQL is historically not a database engine for software, that requires transactional integrity; there were extensions to support that (InnoDB or others) and there was no customer demand in getting MySQL as engine for SAP applications. And only develop an interface to be able to connect to an external MySQL engine is not worth the effort.
However, there is hope Some BusinessObjects applications also run with and against MySQL engines, depending on how the strategy to integrate those into the SAP software stack there may (or may not) be an interface for that database in the future.

  • Connection to an external database.

Hi we r using native sql commands and are connecting to external database. As far as I know from the discussions here i thought that these sort of connections are maintained in the table dbcon. But i don't see any entries in that table.
WHere as i could connect to that database succesfully and getting the records.
The table name for the external system is NOVARTIS.TABLE_ADDRESS@ANK like this.
Where could be that settings made.

    Try this Forum Thread:-
    1. In developer server you have to configure the tnsnames.ora. For doing this you should talk with a person who knows how to configure this file. In the register you should especify: protocol, host and port to connect to the other database system.
    2. Then, you enter a register in the DBCON table. In this entrie you especify user, password, database id (in my case I wrote ORA because i am connecting to an oracle database), and in the enviroment field you write the name or alias of the register in the tnsnames.ora
    3. In the abap program you use native sql sentences for connecting to the external database. This is an example:
    EXEC SQL.
    CONNECT TO :p_conexion AS 'C1'
    ENDEXEC.
    IF SY-SUBRC EQ 0.
    EXEC SQL.
    SET CONNECTION 'C1'
    ENDEXEC.
    EXEC SQL PERFORMING save_data.
    SELECT COD_CGE, COD_SAX, TO_CHAR(FECHA,'YYYYMMDD'),
    VALOR, HORA, TIPO, PAIS, SOCIEDAD
    INTO :wa_serv_aux
    FROM TEST_TABLE
    WHERE FECHA >= TO_DATE( :W_FEC1 , 'YYYY/MM/DD')
    AND FECHA <= TO_DATE( :W_FEC2 , 'YYYY/MM/DD')
    ENDEXEC.
    EXEC SQL.
    ROLLBACK
    ENDEXEC.
    EXEC SQL.
    DISCONNECT 'C1'
    ENDEXEC.
In the form save_data i insert the work area into the internal table.
And that`s all. The most important thing is to configurate the tnsnames.ora file on the server side.
<i><b>Note:- One small suggestion, Before Posting Thread in SDN, search for the related topics in SDN forums and then post your thread, it would be helpfull for everybody.</b></i>

  • Remote Connection from SAP to MS-SQL server

    Hello Experts,
We have been following 2 options so far and we have come across some issues
The first Option is to call a stored procedure (this is our preferred method) which does the data transfer for us
We have been able to test this scenario successfully from SQL Server side
However, while calling the stored proc via native SQL from ABAP we have come across an issue which is due to SQL 2005 changes (Schema implementation and difference in the security context)
While calling the stored procedure from the ABAP Code we have an error
The program short dumps with runtime error DBIF_DSQL2_SQL_ERROR, exception CX_SY_NATIVE_SQL_ERROR. The database error code is 15274, and the error text is
"Access to the remote server     is denied because the current security context is not trusted."
This issue is new after the SQL Server 2005.
We are trying to resolve that.
Secondly we have been trying the DBCON option as well as per OSS Note 323151
We have a few things thatu2019s impacting our scenario:
The remote servers are in a different domain
The remote servers are located  in DIZ
Remote server is a named instance
Remote server has been configured with a different port than standard (1565) u2013 All Connection strings will need port in there
The Database name starts with a numeric value
Due a combination of factors as mentioned above the standard approach does not work
Have any of you used this approach while connecting from SAP to MS-SQL server? Do you know of any successful methods to connect to SQL using ABAP (or not) from SAP.
    Thanks in advance,

    Yes,
    DBConnect & UDConnect.
    Works like a charm.
We write data into a MS-SQL database via DBConnect & an ABAP program (using open sql).
