PI standard users password management

Hi Experts,
What is the best practice for password management of PI standard users? Shall all the users be given the same password at the time of installations? What are the implications of changing the passwords at a later stage, specially of the PISUPER user which has to be reflected in the Java stack also.
Thanks & Regards,
Shobhit

Hi,
Its always preferable to follow the same password as below instead of changing it. it may lead to abrrupt behaviour. I am not sure.
Probably below links will help you
The XISUPER user has a pwd of XIPASS.
The following service users are created during the installation, and the passwords are specified at that time. You should check with the basis people.
XIREPUSER - User for the Integration Repository
XIDIRUSER - User for the Integration Directory
XIAPPLUSER - User for sender applications
XIRWBUSER - User for the Runtime Workbench
XILDUSER - User for the System Landscape Directory
XIISUSER - User for the Integration Server
XIAFUSER - User for the Adapter Engine (communication between SLD, Integration Server, and Adapter Framework)
LSADMIN - User for the Change Management Server

  • XFCE GUI User/Password Management Tool

    Hi All.
I am looking for a GUI user management tool, or at the very least and my primary need, a GUI password changer for the XFCE environment.
The goal is to give a standard user the ability to change their own password without the need to open a terminal, if possible.
    Hopefully I haven't overlooked it.
    Could anyone make a suggestion?
    Thanks in advance.

Rexilion wrote:That's not going to work. You will need root privileges to change your own password. I think you could get away with a script and some sudo magic. Need some help with that?
    What?
    man passwd
A normal user may only change the password for his/her own account, while the superuser may change the password for any account.
    @Eldon
AFAIK XFCE itself doesn't have such a tools, but from a quick google I noticed that most people seem to be using the gnome-system-tools package.

  • Gaining root/making standard user an admin without using CD or Single user mode?

    Hi.
I just installed (upgraded to) Snow Leopard on my 2009 macbook pro from CD. WHen I pooked around in my fresh install, I noticed that I was no longer an admin user, instead a standard user.
I retsrtaed from the Snow Leopard install CD and went to reset password utility... and here's the stupid part. I also added a firmware password. Don't ask me why I thought this was a good idea at the time. It clearly wasn't.
So now I'm back in that fresh new snow leopard install, where my resetting of the standard users password only gave the standard user a password, but did not elevate that user to admin, and no way of starting from the CD again.
There's a root user, I do not know what the password is. The standard user can not sudo. I'm not afraid to work in terminal. Without keboard access to this, I can not make it a target computer via firewire either.
I'd really rather not have to go to the apple store again for this, I've been there twice recently changing batteries and hard drives, and I had to get my snow leopard CD elsewhere as they didn't have any.

    SOLVED IT!
So, I'm leaving this here in case anyone else scatterbrains themselves into the same situation.
Restart computer, while holding OPTION key down.
A lock screen will come up asking for the firmware password. After you have entered this, you can select to start from the OS dvd.
Once started from the DVD you can remove the firmware password (if you want) and even better, you can reset the passwords of other user with the password reset utility.
Make sure to add a passwird to the ROOT account.
Restart as normal. Then in settinggs, find your user, and passwording in root to change these settings, make that user an admin.
    Ta-da, done.

  • Use port 50013 (Management Console) with User/password

    Hello,
I have a problem. We had a security auditory of SAP systems. They have seen that the port 50013 (Management Console) has not any security with user /password.
Is there a way to put a security before the information?
    Best Regards.
    Pablo Mortera.

    Hi Pablo
The SAP Managment Console is a UI (Applet) to access the functionality of the sapstartsrv process, This process is used for montioring and administration of SAP instances and listens on port 5nn13 (or 5nn14 for https)
It is expected that you can access the UI without authentication but to carry out administrative functions (which are sapstartsrv webservice method calls) , such as shutting down an instance for example, authentication is required.
By default only the most critical of these web service methods require authentication but the list of protected webmethods can be modified. Please see note 927637 for more details

do you know any other user of solman .. and it's password..
    please give me solution..

    Hi,
it is a newly installed system? or you forgotten the sap* passowrd
we can try sap* with the password "PASS".But for that you need to carefully delete it at the database level.
    the statment somewhat look like
delete USR02 where UNAME = 'SAP*' and MANDT='000'
, since the table, USR02, which is the one that keeps the passwords.
After this, you will be able to log on as SAP* again with password PASS.

  • RCA Managed SID users password locked

    Hi All,
The configuration of the managed system went well for SID DR2. I have given Dialog user for the configuration of managed system and it created SMDAGENT_SMP and SAPSUPPORT users. But now when my Dialog user password is changed (due to its expiry), the RCA of some part is locking the Dialog user of managed system DR2 as its using same old password.
My question is whether this behaviour is happend to anyone else, and if it happend how to solve it.
    Thanks,
    Rohan

    Hi Rohan,
If you are refering to SAPSUPPORT user being locked, check if you have changed the password for this user in the Setup Wizard for the system DR2.
    1. Diagnostics Setup
    2. Managed Systems
    3. Setup Wizard
    4. Setup Parameters
Under "Initial User/Passwords" inform the new password and rerun the setup.
If you are refering to the Diagnostics agent user being locked, refer to "RCA User Administration Guide" section 2.3.8. There you will see how to update the password for this user.

  • Workgroup Manager: Adv, User Password Type grayed out (was Shadow Password)

I've set Workgroup Manager, Advanced, User Password Type: Shadow Password, Options to inactive after 90 days, fail after 5 attempts, allow user to change password, at least 8 characters every 90 days. Today after user logged in to the console, the user locked herself out remotely via sftp, ssh, & xterm from a WinXP PC running ReflectionX.
I went to the console, used Fast User Switching to bring up my admin account (her account was still logged in), we reset the password with Workgroup Manager so the red X is no longer on her username.
However, the Advanced User Password Type: drop down list is blank and grayed out and she can't log in? How do I reset this? The user has a lot of files, I'm afraid to delete and recreate the user account. That seems pretty drastic for an invalid password attempt. I've rebooted and ran Apple Updates for good measure. Any ideas how to put Shadow Password back in that box?

To unlock the user's account, after backing everything up and noting the user's uid, home dir, groups, etc, we deleted the user in WorkGroup Manager and readded her putting the user id, home dir, etc back the way it was. Everything seems to work again. The home directory files were not deleted when the user account was deleted so everything just reattached.
Still have no idea how we managed to get things so confused in the first place? The Server UI is so much more complicated and inconsistent from the client OS for dealing with users. The Mac OS X Server for Dummies book I found did not have a troubleshooting section and was no help in resolving this. We ended up contacting the Mac User's Group.
I was blown away to get an email survey from Apple support asking me to rate my opinion of my help request. I didn't get any help! They told me my 3 years of AppleCare don't apply to the Server OS I installed separately after buying the mac. Mac OS X Server has 90 days of support that I never used but had expired. They offered to sell me a help ticket for $99.
This has not lived up to the user experience I was hoping to have. I regret the day we "upgraded" to the server. Is there a way to downgrade? Now that there is only 1 unlimited version, we're totally stuck. We have no mac client connected, just PCs via sftp, ssh, vnc, & X windows...

  • Using Lenovo Power Management as a Standard User

    Hello,
Apologies up front if this isn't the proper forum but...
    Running Win7 x64, LPM v3.59
Looking for a way to run it (Power Schemes, Settings, etc.) as a standard user.  I do not want to provide users with the Admin Password for UAC.  I've seen some older posts that run through deleting several reg keys, but I thought I remembered seeing a setting that provided this functionality to standard users?
    Thanks,

  • UME Actions - Manage All User Passwords

    Hello everyone,
I am trying to create a role for our service desk to be able to manager users and be able to unlock them and/or reset their passwords. So I created a role with the identity management iview and gave the role the assigned action "Manage_All_User_Passwords". On <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/5f/670db7939b8e48999d65f8a05ad611/frameset.htm">sap help</a> it says of this action:
"Provides permissions required by a user to change the password of other users independent of company. This also enables the user to view all user profiles."
Now the problem comes in with users in different companies. Any user I assign this role to is only able to search for users in their own company. Is there some other configuration I need to do or permissions I need to change to be able to manage the passwords of users in different companies?
    We are running NW04s SPS10
    Thanks for any help,
    Chris Bahr

    Yonko,
The role's assigned to my test user are all user created. There are no other assigned actions that would interfere. I have not assigned the delegated user admin role as this would give more power to the user than we want. What we are going for is a role for our support people to be able to unlock and reset people's passwords. So we just want them to be able to be able to unlock and reset the passwords of all users in all companies, which I assumed manage all user passwords would do, but I am obviously missing something.
    Best Regards,
    Chris

  • Active Directory user passwords on mobile account with File Vault

    Hi all,
I enabled file vault when I moved to my MacBook Pro. I joined the computer to the domain (after enabling file vault), and logged in with my domain account, creating a managed, mobile account so that I could use the computer when not connected to the domain.
Active Directory has forced a change in my password for the domain account but I cannot get the password on the Mac to change the password and sync with the domain.
My account (the one with the changed network password) on the Mac is a standard user account. When I open system preferences, go to Security & Preferences, General, click on the lock to unlock and allow change and then click Change Password  ..., I receive the following error message after going through the steps to change the password:
The password for the account "user" was not changed. There was a problem with your password. It's possible your system administrator doesn't allow you to change your password. Contact your system administrator for help.
For Old Password, I used the old network password, the one that I use to log into the Mac. For New Password, I used my new, current password.
The same result happens when I attempt to change the password from the Users & Groups section of the System Preferences.
I have logged out and logged in with the user account that is identified as the admin and get a similar (same ?) error when attempting to change the password.
Any suggestions? How do I get the passwords to be one so that I can forget the old password?

    Thanks for your insights.
The Tech Tool report happened after AppleJack, and never showed up before that. Restarting again just now, it showed up again.
I had not emptied the trash, but did now, and the 'get info' on my hard drive still shows that I have used nearly all of my 160 GB.
Re Disk Warrior: I do have it and just ran it. I emptied trash again and checked to see available disk space: I have 2.47 GB, so the problem still exists.
Here is the disk warrior report for the first part of its tests:
DiskWarrior has successfully built a new optimized directory for the disk named "Hildegarde." The new directory is
ready to replace the original directory.
There is not enough contiguous free space for a fail-safe replacement of the directory. It is highly recommended that
you create 204 MB of contiguous free space before replacing the original directory.
All file and folder data was easily located.
Comparison of the original and replacement directories indicates that there will be changes to the number, the
contents and/or the attributes of the files and folders. It is recommended that you preview the replacement
directory and examine the items listed below. All files and folders were compared and a total of 14,627,488
    comparison tests were performed.

  • Standard User rights to copy .exe files in System32 directory?

I am trying to lock down my son's computer to stop him playing games on it. However he seems to have found a security hole that allows him to elevate himself to Administrator which overcomes all my attempts to lock down the PC. It seems that the default
security settings for a Standard User on Win 7 Home Premium (64 bit OS on a Dell laptop) has permissions to copy a file in the Windows\System32 directory. That allows him to copy cmd.exe over osk.exe. Then from the logon-in screen he can invoke a command shell
using the accessability features (osk.exe = onscreen keyboard), this command prompt runs at an Admin security level (I guess because it is invoked by a kernel process??) he can then use the net user command to elevate his user account to be an Administrator
    account.
I seems strange to me that a standard user has rights to copy .exe files around in the system32 directory. Can anyone verify if this is expected behaviour or has the system been altered in some way that I am not aware? If so can anyone help by providing
guidance on how to reset the security permissions on system32 back to the correct default settings.
    Any help appreciated.
    Pedro.

By default standard user doesn't have any permission in System32 and is unable to install any programs. I believe he somehow manage to get access to administrator password. You may try to remove all administrator permissions and then change your administrator's
    password and enable bitlocker.
