Pic of wall plug wont go away

i got a new cpu and tried to restore my ipod to original settings to put all new music, but when i did, it told me to plug into the wall to finish the restore. so i did this and nothing has happened. it has had a pic of a wall plug on it for the past few days and i dont know what else to do. ive tried to reset it but nothing works. any ideas?

You need to plug it into an wall outlet, I had the same problem and had to buy a firewire power plug to get mine to work. Plus if you have a radio shack near you, you can ask them to plug it in for you to get it out of the wall socket to finish restoring or updating. USB wall plugs dont like to work, unless you find one for an ipad which i have also used to get it to fully restore.

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue? Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?
What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?

IPod displays a picture of a power adapter and wall plug & won't go away!

Okay, I am trying to update a mini ipod for my neice. I originally have the 20GB ipod. Hers however is the 1.1 mini ipod... and I think it was formated for windows on a pc, but I didn't know this until after I reset it on my mac.
I reset it to the factory setting, but it said I needed to plug it into the wall jack to complete the software settings... which is cool and fine. So i did by USB, but now all I get is this iPod displays a picture of a power adapter and wall plug. The icon will not go away and neither will anything change. I can't turn it off and if I try to bring up anything, all I get is the apple and then this icon, over and over again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Actually I did do what is it said, and it continued to blink the power adapter and wall plug picture, while I had it plugged into the wall socket. So that is why I posted this question.
So someone else actually replied to my question and said that I have to plug it into my car ac adapter and it would finish rebooting... which it did.
Thanks for the tips. I'm not computer iliterate, I'm just learning about the ipod.

Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support. Get your lock button fixed then you can restore your phone.

Try to see what happens on another computer. If it works on another computer, the issue is not at the iPhone.

Wall plug icon won't go away

I was given an iPod mini just before Christmas. It had been used with a Mac, so I plugged it into my Windows XP machine and did a restore. It got all the way as per the manuals to the point of saying unplug it from the computer and plug it into the wall to complete the firmware update. It's been plugged into the wall for over 24 hours and nothing changes - just alternating wall plug and apple icons. The computer doesn't recognise anything is plugged into the USB port. Does anyone have a solution to this?

Try Resetting Your iPod while it's connected to AC adapter.
Hold down the Menu and Select buttons until you see the Apple logo (or Menu & Play/Pause in older models).
This will often get it recognized. It may take several attempts.
Also try the same thing while connected to the computer

Okay this first started yesterdy morning, when my ipod touch4g was acting funny it wouldnt turn off, so i thought if i plugged it in it would fix itself, so i thought restoring would help it,made it worse it started turning off and on apple logo came on a few times, now i got it where i can turn it off and on okay but now i cant seem to controle the volume, and the speaker icon is showing and wont go away, and when i try turning it down when i play a song or a video, it will turn back up by itself, or it will turn down by itself,
what would be the best way to fix this without taking it in? the nearest apple store is dallas and i dont wanna spend all the money in gas to go up there, and then see what arm and leg i gotta cut off to get them to fix it.
should i restore and resync it one more time or should i start saving for a new ipod along with the new computer im needing?

Logo wont go away on ipod

i have a logo of what looks like a wall charger and wont go away and cannot add songs on becuase of it please help now

I still havent got a fix ive seriously tried everything that i can find or that is possible but the updater has definetly ruined my ipod.

You can even use a wall plug bought in the USA in Ireland. The USA charger will accept eith 117 or 220V input. All you need is an adapter to convert from the USA flat plug to an Irish style plug.

Update: It seems as though the phone will charge if I plug it in and then turn it off. It will not charge while the phone is on. Also iTunes will not recognize it, so I can't sync or anything. I read somewhere that it could be a fuse somewhere?? Or maybe the dock connector. Where is the best place to get this repaired?

How do I use a 2nd Airport Extreme plugged into an Ethernet Wall Plug to join an existing wireless network to give me a better signal upstairs?

I have a 5th generation Airport Extreme giving me a great wireless signal on the 1st floor of my house. However the signal upstairs is weak. So I purchased another 5th generation Airport Extreme that I would like to plug into an ethernet wall plug upstairs. I would then like to have the upstairs Airport Extreme join the same network thus giving me a good wirelss signal upstairs. I have a MacBook Pro running OS 10.7.4. Can somebody give me step-by-step directions to set up the upstairs Airport Extreme?

I assume that the new AirPort Extreme is still in its original factory default settings.
Before you connect the AirPort Extreme, please connect a laptop to the Ethernet cable that will be used for the connection and turn off the wireless on the laptop. Make sure that you can can connect to the Internet before you begin to configure the AirPort Extreme.
Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the laptop and connect it to the WAN "O" port on the upstairs AirPort Extreme and power it up.
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility 6.1
Look in the upper left hand corner of the screen for a tab or box that reads "Other AirPort Base Stations (1)"
Click on that box,then click on the name AirPort Extreme xxxxxx
Wait a moment while AirPort Utility analyzes the network and then displays a message that the AirPort Extreme will be configured to extend your existing wireless network.
Enter a Base Station (device) name for the AirPort Extreme (and a device password if prompted), then click Next.
Wait another minute or two until AirPort Utility notifies you that the AirPort Extreme has been Set Up.
That's it.

IPAD 2 Won't Charge on USB port on my laptop, my desktop Mac but will charge via the wall plug

I am confused on what to do with my IPAD 2. It won't charge via my USB Port on my PC that I travel with. Also I just purchased a new desktop Mac and it will not charge on that USB port either. But it will charge via the Wall Plug that came with it. I am worried when I travel to different countries to use the wall plug. I have an adapter to switch power. I am from Canada and travel oversees where the power is 240 vs the 120 at home. If I use my plug adapter and plug in my ipad to the wall Will I destroy the battey in my IPAD 2. I love my ipad to travel with but it is very frustrating when it will not charge on my PC or on the airplane. Then I am afraid to use the wall plug in the airport because of the difference in power. Would really appreciate some help here because I am oversees 2 weeks a month and only get a couple days use of my IPAD. I have all my books and everything on it and need to be able to recharge it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

For better future reference, you should be aware that the voltage means nothing when it comes to charging power. All that that is telling you is that the Power Adapter will work across that voltage range, i.e., you don't need a transformer to plug it into the outlet (although you may need different plugs, which is a separate topic).
What matters is the amperage (A) and the power in watts (W). The Power Adapter puts out 2 A @ 5 VDC (volts DC), which means it's producing 10 watts of power. It will output that across the entire voltage range.
A high-power USB port on a PC will put out 0.5A @ 5VDC, or 2.5 W. Be aware that not all of the ports on any given PC are likely to be putting out even that much power, at may well be putting out less than half as much. That's why you'll often see the "Not Charging" when plugged into a USB port, especially on Windoze laptops, and why it will charge very slowly even when it works.
FYI, the charger which is sold with the iPhone looks identical, is called the same thing, but only puts out 1A. It will work on the iPad but will charge more slowly. By that same token, the iPad charger will charge an iPhone just fine, it will just charge faster.
