Pick Full Storage Units

Hi Guys
I have two St types 003 and 005
003 is where we have the picking and 005 is the reserve st type
I have stock in both and in 005 they are in boxes of 20
I am using two step picking in AFS
I require 150 units for one material and 200 for another
I have st type indicator 005 and search strategy 005 mvt type reference 850 and st types 003 005
003 has removal strategy M and 005 has F (as in the help in the IMG)
The material master has the control qty of 20
When I create my group and subsequently my TO's it picks the first 180 and then clears out 003 which has 19 and then picks 1 from 005 to complete the pick whe there is enough stock in 005 to pick the whole 200 which is what i want it to do
What am I missing so that it icks full boxed fro 005 and only takes the balance from 003 which in one of my cases in nothing

Hi Guys
Cracked it thanks

  • WM Replenishment and 2-step picking with storage units.

    Dear Colleagues,
I am attempting to use SAP standard fixed bin replenishment and implement it as a 2-step picking process. Generally, the process goes as follows:
    - Generate replenishment pick tasks
    - Place the picked products onto storage units in an intermediate storage type
    - Put the products away from storage units into the respective fixed bins
I have setup the necessary parameters to get standard replenishment to work. I can run LP21 and generate all TR's, and subsequently TO's. The product moves from respective reserve bins into the fixed bins based on strategies that I have setup.
The issue i am experiencing is when I try to introduce the intermediate storage type to place the product into, before it goes into the fixed bins. Additionally, the intermediate storage type needs to have SUM enabled, so that the product gets placed onto pallets. This way, the warehouse personnel will be able to track the physical product movements before it is put away.
Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
    Best Regards,
    HK

    Hi,
I'm not sure your scenario is viable in (standard) SAP.
    As I understand (e.g.):
    - source storage type: productA 10 pc, productB 20 pcs, productC 30 pc
    - intermediate storage type: SU1 (productA 2 pc, productB 17 pcs, productC 10 pc), SU2 (productA 8 pc, productB 3 pcs, productC 20 pc)
    - destination storage type: bin1: productA 2 pc, productB 17 pcs, productC 10 pc, bin2: productA 8 pc, productB 3 pcs, productC 20 pc
Please notice that SAP determines the to be removed quantities (~corresponding to SU1 & SU2 but not as SUs) when you remove the goods from the intermediate storage type ("allocation") and not when you place the goods into it.
Please also notice that automatically you cannot create storage units (palletize) with different products on it (I'm not sure this is requirement in your case or not).
Please check this link where it is explained where to carry out customizing for 2-step picking and how it works:

  • 2-step picking vs storage unit

    Dear All,
We'd like to use '2-step picking' for production supply and we use 'storage units' (pallets) in our WH.
There might be different sorts of goods (with different part numbers) on one pallet.
The problem is, that during '2-step picking' the system wants to deliver the whole storage unit from the storage bin to the interim storage bin.
Is it possible to 'break' the SU and pick only the necessary item (and necessary qty)?
    (e.g.
There are materialA, materialB, materialC on palletA. I need only materialB for production, but the system wants to move the whole pallet with materialA&B&C.)
    Thanks for your help.

  • Storage Unit stays after L_TO_CREATE_DN

    Hi,
I use L_TO_CREATE_DN to pick SUs (Storage Unit) and post goods movements. I give the parameter "KOMIM = 2".
The WM Stock (LQUA table) lines disappear as expected, but the SU header data (LEIN table) stays without any change. It causes many problems.
    Any ideas ?
    Regards,

    Hi.
By using L_TO_CREATE_DN, you are creating and confirming TO?
When you create a TO you should get your SU assigned to it (if your storage type is not bulk or open storage etc.)... I gues that works for you since you have automated the process... So after confirming the TO, this SU should disappear (check in LS33 for your SU if it exists), but it doesn't necessarily have to disappear - e.g. if your SU has 100 cs and you picked 50 cs from it. It should still exist with qty of 50 cs.
Instead of looking at table LEIN, check if your SU is showing in LS33.

  • WM-PP losing storage unit number on return

    Hello again,
This is not an uncommon problem I am sure!  My client has the SU number on the label.  We are using WM material staging to pull full SUs into the non SU managed production supply area (stype 100).  The required amount of product is consumed.  All this is okay. The next step is the problem.
When the material is returned to the SU-managed storage type, the system gives it a new SU number so the label is wrong.  Is there any way to keep the old the SU number? Is ABAP my only solution?
    Thanks for your advice,
    Orla

Define storage unit management for physical storage types only. Interim storage areas cannot be SU-managed.
    What is your process exactly?
    1) Is the SU moved to production (interim storage type 100) and they pick up the necessary quantity and SU goes back immedietly (very shrt time).
    2) SU is moved to production (interim storage type 100) and it will be there till the parts are consumed for production (long time).
In case of 1) you can consider the use of picking with pick point:
    http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/EN/c6/f8471f4afa11d182b90000e829fbfe/frameset.htm
In case of 2) I think it's reasonable to reprint the lbels as it was suggested by Hein since who knows what's happned with the SU during that time it was in production area...
Otherwise you have to go to development I think.

  • Unable to confirm transfer order due to error message "enter a storage unit

    Hi guys:
I am unable to confirm transfer order due to error message popping up and saying "enter a storage unit", and I tried to search it in whole thread in the forum,it was suggestion to pick up destination storage unit via ls24, but I did went to ls24 and trying to click that line(transfer order) but unable to find the storage unit, so is there another way to fix it?

    Hi Allen...
Pls check if your Storage Type is SU Active. If yes, then system will create a storage unit according to the setting done for the storage unit management, perhaps in your case you are confirmin TO for the putaway.
    Pls confirm and revert

  • TO Error: Source HU ******* is not contained in Source storage unit *******

    Dear All,
Our warehouse Handling Unit managed. I have created a delivery which is partially picked.
After that when I am trying to create Transfer Order, I am getting an error "*Source HU ******* is not contained in Source storage unit ******"
I am getting a pop up window in the name of "Enter withdrawal of Handling Units", and it is asking me to enter the Quantity to be repacked.
I am getting this error only when I am doing Partial picking.
How to get rid of this error. Kindly suggest.

    Hello
This can be the whole pallet have to be withdrawn from the source (flag LTAP-HOMVE is set on, 'X'), but HU picking control does not propose the source HU as the destination HU (flag LTAP-HUPIK is clear, ' '). Kindly check.
If that is not the case then, for your reference refer following SAP notes:

  • Palletization and storage unit management

    Hi,
On the WM view 2 in material master, there is a section call palletization.
    Question:
1 u2013 If this material is going to be used in a storage unit environment, is it COMPULSORY to maintain it? If not maintain it, will I face error during TO creation for SU process?
2 u2013 Because we wouldnu2019t know the Storage unit type upfront until when the truck actually stop at our warehouse, and we using scanner to perform TO creation. Thus, under such scenario, is there a way in the system setup to bypass this maintenance in the material master and later still allow me to put in the SUT  Type I desire on the spot?
    tuff

palleteziation data is maintained in material master so that at the time of TO system can know how much quantity will be stored on which  type of pallet and accordingly system will search for the BIN or it will find out that the bin is full
In case you do not mention it in material master then ceratinly you will get the error that please enter the palletelization data during Transfer order creation

  • Storage bin type and storage unit type.

    Hi,
Can anyone explain what is the differnce between the staorage bin type which is maintaine for storage bins and the storage unit type which is maintained in material master.
Can any one correct me that My material storage unit type is maintained in TT and the storage bin for put awayis maintained in PC (storage bin type).
is this the right way to be adapted.
    Sunil

    Hi,
THe storage unit type is a description of how the material is stroed in the storage bin.
Some bins may not able to allow a full pallet due to height restrictions, but a half-pallet may fit.so warehouse can define a storage unit type that defines a half-pallet and qty of the material that can fit on that half-pallet.
    Configuration menu path:IMG-logistics Execution-Warehouse Management-master data-material-define storage unit type.
where as storage bin is the lowest level of storage defined in the warehouse.

  • When to introduce Storage Unit into a warehouse business

    Hi all,
I am new in storage unit and I did read up a couple website about the storage unit and know how it work.
However, I am wondering if you can share your experience with regards to following questions.
In what kind of warehouse operation setting best suit to use SAP storage unit functionality? Does the warehouse business process require to meet some basic pre-requisites before a storage unit process of SAP is consider feasible and not overkill or will provide value added to the whole warehouse operation?
Is there any concern or remification of introducing SAP SU into a warehouse operation (both from system and business perspective). In another word, impact to other module as a result of SU.
    Looking forward to your feedback.
    Regards,
    Daniel

Hello Daniel, there are a number of reasons and scenarios for introduction of storage units.
I assume you want to use / are using - RF devices for WM...
From the aspect of warehouse operations if your products don't have printed material bar codes, then you would need to print them at some point in order to be able to scan your materials during transfer order confirmation. When you have batch management too, in bulk storage types everything gets more complicated since if you don't have storage unit management, and have batch managed materials, you also need to scan batch number in addition to scanning your material bar code. Ok, now you need to have that batch number bar-coded too. This gets a bit tricky, scanning two bar codes, printing 2 bar codes... Then why not introduce storage unit management and kill a couple of flies with one hit?
What storage unit does, is keep all the info stored in itself.
SU keeps track of material inside it, batch number, etc. So when you are picking from bulk storage type, by simply scanning SU you want to pick, you are actually specifying all the info from that SU, like material, batch, etc.
Someone will argue that material bar-code isn't mandatory to be scanned and yes it can be switched off, but it leaves you with a lot of room for mistakes, so if you don't have SU management, you need to scan the material + batch.
Also, it is easier to perform physical inventory with RF and storage unit managed warehouse. If you are having batch management that is.
From business point of view first we can think of traceability (not in the meaning of standard batch traceability) => like having the information of which exact pallet went to which customer.
When you scan storage unit for picking to customer 1234, you will have the information where did the exact pallet go, if you need that kind of info.
You can also have some sort of functionality like that without SU management, because you can actually store more information in one bar code, like scanning once and having all the info in one long number (by parsing the number you can assign that info to the appropriate fields in RF transactions).
And that's one good approach too if you don't want storage unit management but want to scan only once, but this requires some modifications to RF programs to be able to parse the scanned data into multiple data fields. Storage unit does something like that with just a bit of customizing.
Actually there are a lot of good things SU introduces in your warehouse, but sometimes it is overkill indeed, if you don't really need it then don't implement it, sometimes things are good to be kept simple, although I seem to thing about SU management to be the simplest way of operating WH.
If you need any further clarification or question about SU, feel free...

    Mihailo

  • R/3 request storage unit during TO confirmation

    Dear all,
I bump into an obstacle while perform TO confirmation.
During TO confirnmation, there is one screen requesting me to key in the storage unit.
I tried to put in some of the storage unit from the the search screen (i.e. the little round shape next to the field), but system don't allow.
May I know how to handle this?
Do I need to create a new storage unit and put in to this field during TO confirmation?
    thanks
    tuff

    Dear Sinéad, and other,
Ok this is how I bump into the error (in between, my WM knowledge has not reach the Storage Unit yet).
I have created a TO for picking from a delivery order via VL02N's menu screen (i.e. movement type 601). Next, I perform a TO confirmation in LT12, and when I click the "Confirm Internally" button, R/3 jumps to this screen requesting the following two data:
    1- Storage unit
<< I tried to assign some randomly existing SU unit to this field but R/3 complaint "Storage unit 00157032650003548391 does not exist Message no. L3209">>
    2- Destination Storage Unit
<< I tried to assign some randomly existing SU unit to this field but R/3 complaint "Target handling unit 157032650000046104 is not assigned to TO 0000353991 Message no. L3822">>
I just don't know how to proceed now as without the confirmation there is no picking (i.e. as the actual quantity field in the LT12 screen still empty) and there is a problem on PGI later on my delivery.
Please teach me how to proceed when encounter above obstacles.
    thanks

  • Storage Unit multiple length conversion

    Hi Gurus
We have multiple plants and warehouses in our system and for our business reuirements HU and SU are both active
One warehouses use SU conversion length as 10 digits  ( pallet numbers with 2 leading zeros)  and other use 18 digits
I have a requirement to use different length conversion for SU in different warehoses
For enabling 18 digit SU numbers we have maintained SU conversion length as 18 but this is defined at system level
so for 10 digits SU numbers also system is asking to enter full 18 digits , thius is causing problems in RF transactions and manually in LS33 as well
Let me know if you have come across same thing or any other pointer for changing system to make it understand 10 digits as well
    Cheers

    Hello there,
    Please see the following path:
    IMG
      - Logistics Execution
       - Warehouse Management
        - Storage Units
         - Master Data
          - Define Number Ranges
           - Conversion exit for storage unit number
You may find the following information.
    Conversion of storage unit numbers
SU conversion exit   3    Customer-specific user exit
    Length of SU numbers 18
The storage unit number is processed through a conversion exit.
You can find these exits in the domain lenum
       CONVERSION_EXIT_LENUM_INPUT
       CONVERSION_EXIT_LENUM_OUTPUT
You may also use user exit EXIT_SAPLLVSK_002 to reprogram the length conversion again to plus the leading zeroes for the SU number. In the SAP standard any values for the SU number have to be typed in also leading zeroes.

  • Bin to BIN transfer storage unit

    Dear All,
I am moving the stock from open bin to actual bins but system is creating a new storage unit number.  But when I transfer from normal bin to normal bin system keep the same SU number. My requirement is to keep the same SU number when moving from open bin to normal bin.  Could you please advise how can I do this.
    Regards
    Sakkir

when you transfer partial quantity from a source storage unit to another bin it creates a new Storage unit number and when you transfer full quantity of a source storage unit to another bin then system retain the same storage unit number.
In your case it seems when you are transferring the stock from open to actual bin then the quantity is partial hence system is creating a new storage unit number and when you are doing actual bin to bin then you are transferring the full quantity hence system is retaining the same storage unit number

  • Set storage unit number (SU)

    Dear all,
I have a business scenario that barcode label is printed before goods receipt from production.  The phyiscal cartons from production will be placed onto the pallet.  Once the pallet label is full, the barcode code label is printed and scanned for confirmation of process order, and then following by goods receipt.
Since, I am using WM in particular Decentralized WMS, the system will generated TO automatically upon GR.  As you know, storage unit number will be generated during TO creation.  As we want to capture the barcode pallet label in the SAP system as our SU number.  I wonder there is any user exits or other things that allow for setting the SU number from the barcode label number.
    Ideas?
    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers.
    Tom

    Hi,
May I know if the question still exists or not? If so, please reply it. Thanks a lot.

    Hi ,
follow the below Process to Activate SU
First make your warehouse SUM active. Set your individual st types as SUM active and SUT check active
Active SUM for the storage types where material is to be putaway as well as removal, Storage unit configuration in LE -WM-Storage units- for master data. Maintain these storage types in storage type search to find the bins for putway & picking.
When you post GR in IM and the System will create the Transfer requirement .
Using The TR to converting into TO creating to the destination Storage unit bin.
