Pick & Pack in SAP 8.8 PL 12

Dear All,
I have a scenario where I book a sales order against a particular warehouse. But I am never sure whether I will have inventory in that warehouse or some other warehouse at the time of delivery since it a liquid cargo and the tank warehouse may change at the time of delivery.
I am in SAP 8.8 PL 12. The issue is I am not able to release item to a pick list when my warehouse changes and I do not have any inventory in the warehouse in which I had booked an order. I cannot change the warehouse in Sales order also as it is generated through Approval procedure. But the SAP documentation (Whats New in 8.8) suggests otherwise "The SAP Business One pick and pack process now enables you to enforce or override credit and commitment levels on pick lists for specific business partners. Additionally, the Pick and Pack Manager now allows you to release items to a pick list even when there is no available quantity to release, such as when merchandize exists but has not yet been entered into SAP Business One.". I also have the option of release without warning selected in the documents settings.
Kindly advise how to proceed.

I tested a demo in 8.8 using the approval procedure and I confirm that it is not possible to change the warehouse.
However, the documentation you mentioned beneath refers to Pick and Pack, not to the approval procedure.
The document says:
The SAP Business One pick and pack process now enables you to enforce or override credit and commitment levels on pick lists for specific business partners. Additionally, the Pick and Pack Manager now allows you to release items to a pick list even when there is no available quantity to release, such as when merchandize exists but has not yet been entered into SAP Business One
refers to overriding credit and commitment levels and allowing to continue to the pick list even if there is no quantity in stock according to the information in the Inventory tab of the Item master data. However, it does not mention the change of warehouse.

Hi,
I've looked through various questions on Pick and Pack in the forum and have gotten some idea how it works. However, I would like more details on the feature and there seems to be a document in servers that requires a login userid and password. Hi,
Some documents on the portal are only for partner use. If you are a customer, you may go to Customer Portal to find the document. As Rahul pointed out, Pick & Pack is really a simple function. You may play them in test environment and get an idea easily.

Pick Pack Time and Route

Hello Everyone,
I know that Pick and pack times are using the Shipping point working times or calendar.
Just to confirm, can I say that Pick / pack time cannot be derived from the Route?

This is really depends on what value you set in the field Determine Pick/Pack time in the shipping point definition. If value A is selected then the pick/pack time becomes route dependant.
By definition the pick/pack time is the time in days that is required for allocating goods to a delivery as well as the time in days that is required for picking and packing. It is calculated using the shipping point, the route, and the weight group of the order item. (from help.sap.com at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/dd/5607e7545a11d1a7020000e829fd11/frameset.htm). So the route can impact the pick/pack time.

Need help on IDoc for Picking, Packing and PGI against the Sale order

I am new to this IDoc stuffs. Below is the scenario for which I would like to know the details of the IDoc...
Business Case:
1. Storage location is a HU Managed but not WM managed.
2. This storage locations is managed by a third party
3. Outbound delivery document against the SO will be created by our personnels in SAP for this storage location.
4. Picking, Packing and PGI needs to happen/post via Idoc. (By packing here, i refer to assign the HUs that are already created for the materials and is available in the storage location and not repacking)
Is there any standard IDoc that can be used here to Pick, Pack and post PGI. We would like to have picking and packing in a first idoc and PGI on the second idoc.

The business process is as below (it was changed recently to have the creation of OBD, pick HUS and then post GI via single IDOC)
1. We have a storage loc in our enterprise structure that is HU managed but not WM managed.
2. This storage loc is being maintained by a third party.
3. SO will be created to be shipped out of this plant/sloc.
3. The stocks at this storage loc will be Special stock "E" against the sales order. And the stocks will be Packed in HUs.
4. The third party is informed to deliver the stocks (HUs - that do have the special stock number which internally refers to the the SO number and the line item number) directly to ship to party address in SO.
5. The 3rd party will physically ship the HUs to customer and send in the details that they have shipped goods against the sales order.
6. The details sent by the 3rd party will be received in SAP to create OBD for the sales order, Pick, Pack and post GI. This can happen via a single IDOC..
I am now planning to create a custom IDOC type referring to the standard IDOC type DELVRY03 and message type DESADV and to use a custom BAPI/FM.
Do you think I am using the right ones?

Pre pick pack for sipment

I'm associated in auto componenet manufacturing comapny. We follow the make to stock process in our manufacturing division based on our sales forecast.
The customer orders are a mix of normal products and company's branded products. The branded products are heavy duty and takes junk of time in preparing cartons, picking and packing during an order processing. To eliminate this heavy time consumption, we want to pick pack and store these heavy duty parts when the ever the order are less in a day. So we can directly pack them for shipment. Remember it will not go thu normal pick pack and labelling process as per the order as we allreday done for barnded ones.
I know its out of way, is there any way we can achieve in SAP. I will appreciate if you could give me the best feasible solution to achieve this.

As per my under standing you will do the packing activity physically before creation of the delivery or sales order am I correct !! If soo..
What are the packing material you are going to use maintain master data for those material with material type VERP-Packaging material.
Do the packing related configuration settings in the IMG
IMG->Logistics execution>Shipping>Packing
Assign the packing material group in the master data of the Finished material
Physically you can do the packing any time but when you create delivery for that material you can do the packing in the SAP system according to the physically completed.

Pick Pack Pass Removing HU

Dear Experts,
I need your kindly support. When implementing pick pack pass function, if I were to remove two handling unit from two different Activity Area, the HU got picked first will not enter the pick-HU and will remain on resource. However, if I pick two products(instead of HU), the problem will not occur.
If Picking two HU 612/613 into 90031(pick-HU)
612(the one got picked first) remain on resource and did not go to destination bin
If Picking two products (Y003/YEWMZ) into 90023(pick-HU)
Both products go to destination bin
Please kindly give me advise as what might be the problem.

This issue has been resolved by SAP's note 1998445"
"You work on RFUI with picking logical transaction. In your process several resources are using the same pick HU. The first resource moves a HU to the pick HU creating a nested HU. When the second resource picks up the pick HU, the HU hierarchy is deleted. All HUs are moved directly to the resource."

Different Pick/Pack Time

Hi,
As far as Standard SAP goes, you will not be able to do this. Pick / Pack time can be only Route dependent, Route Independent or it can be Defaulted from shipping point. You might have to build a logic based on some criteria such as material group (as having this for each material is practically impossible) and use the user exit to run this code to determine different pick pack time for each material.

Pick&Pack consistency check

Hi Gurus,
When executing the Pick and Pack process, is there anyway to ensure to consistence between what decided in the picking request/confirmation and what actually packed?
I.e. if the pick&pack requested 10 products A to be put in 2 boxes type B, does SAP chek that packing was done for the correct products and packing material?

Hello Michele,
Yes, based on packing instruction the system will check the consistancy. Also there is functionality that certain packing materials are allowed to pack certain items only.

Link Sales Order and PO and Pick & Pack

Ability to add a manual Link between a Sales Order and Purchase order to reserve the item(s).
Also do not allow Pick & Pack manager to create pick list for sales orders with an earlier date if other sales orders exists waiting for complete shipment.

we can link these two fields and can pass the data in a internal table after that Vbeln is also present in
Tables VBAP ( SALE DOCUMENT ITEM DATA )
1. VBELN - SALE ORDER
2. MATNR - MATERIAL NUMBER
3. KWMENG - ORDER QUANTITY
which could be used for further procssing

CRM 5.0 ATP check to ECC not including pick / pack time in ECC 6.0

Been searching SDN & OSS, our ATP check in 5.0 is reading the proper inventory in ECC but when no inventory is available the date being returned is the total replenishment leadtime in the ECC material master. (good)
When the order is entered in ECC if no stock exist, the total replenishment leadtime become the material availability date in the ECC schedule line, we have 2 days pick / pack time in the shipping point so the confirmed date is 2 factory days after the material availibility date.
Therefore in CRM the ATP date in CRM looks to be 2 days earlier than desired or what ECC provides. I also set up the vendor partner in CRM but that did not help.
Anyone have experience with this one?
One similiar topic, if total replenshiment leadtime is 3 days and saturday & sunday are not workdays. a CRM order placed on saturday gives wednesday (monday, tuesday, wednesday) as the date. ECC gives thursday (tuesday, wednesday, thursday)

I had 2 issues
- I didn't have the X set in SMOFPARSFA so i was doing availibility information which doesn't include scheduling (pick pack)
- other issue was timezones which required note 1423767

Printing immedietely of Putaway list or Pick list in SAP WM

We have one requirement in WMS rollout is:
For automatic background printing of Putaway list or Pick list in SAP WM, System doesnt recognize Printer name as LOCL (settings in T code- OMLV). In OMLV we must have a network printer name for automatic printing the Putaway List after MIGO transaction and also for automatic printing the Pick List in Background with WMTA out put type - which triggers during delivery creation.
If we configure LOCL in OMLV screen the spool gets generated but it doesnt execute automatically and that needs to be triggered manually using T code SP02 or SP01.
We want to print these putaway or pick list automatically(either thru LOCL or network printer) immediate after generating a spool(without any user interaction).

Hi MM,
Inorder to get automatic put away list after GR you need to define the printer in OMLV settings.
Step 1:
If you are using Ricoh printer (Paper print out of TO) and Zebra Printer (Label printer for printing labels), you need define this combination under the icon "Printer pool/Labels".
Warehouse - Ricoh printer name - Zebra printer name (Pre-condition : Both the Ricoh and Zebra printers needs to be configured in SAP by your Basis team).
Step 2:
Under icon "Warehouse Movement" in the Assignment section, you need to define the condition for printing.
For example
Warehouse no: Source str type Destination str. type Printername
AB1 902 *** Ricoh printer name1
AB1 Q01 *** Ricoh printer name2
The above situation prints all put away list for receiving area to Ricoh printer name 1 & all put away list cleared by QA people to Ricoh printer name 2.
Step 3:
Analyze the condition set under the icon "Analyze" (print control tables).
You can re-check the conditions set by you in the above section. specify the warehouse number, source str type, dest. str type and execute you should be getting the printer name correctly assigned in the earlier section.

Pick Pack time in shipping point.

I would like to have a clear understanding on the Pick Pack time / Loading time in Shipping point Configuration.
1. I have configured shipping point with factory calendar assigned to it.
2. I have given the pick pack time in the shipping point config.
Now the question is, i'm able to give fraction values also here , say 2.5 days for pick pack time,.
what does this mean? how do i infer.
Please provide clarity.
I do not want details on how the dates are determined in Sale order w.r.t to this details, instead more clarity on how days will be taken if fractional values are given in days and not in hours.

System will consider decimal based on factory calender and work times fields
If work times are defined, lead times can be set in hours/minutes and applied to the work times.
The following priorities are used for scheduling:
Factory calendar and work times maintained
The lead times are used in hours / minutes work time. Here, both the work days defined in the calendar as well as the work times on the individual weekdays (Monday through Sunday) are taken into consideration.
Additionally maintained lead times in calendar days are possibly not taken into consideration if the lead times are not maintained in hours/minutes. The work time would then be zero from the schedulung view.
Factory calendar maintained
The work times in calendar days are used and the workdays defined in the calendar are included. From the scheduling view, each day has 24 hours (in contrast to the lead time in hours/minutes where the work times are taken into consideration).
Additionally maintained lead times in hours/minutes are possibly not taken into consideration if the lead times in calendar days are not maintained. The work time would then be zero from the scheduling view.
No factory calendar maintained
As above, the system calculates only using calendar days, and work-free days, such as weekends or public holidays, are not taken into consideration
