Pick up calls on imac

For awhile, whenever my iphone rang, my imac would also ring and I could pick it up from there. I love that feature becuase I'm not always in the same room as my phone. Recently it stopped doing that, and I'm wondering where the setting is to bring that feature back.

On the iPhone: Settings > FaceTime > iPhone Cellular Calls
On the Mac: in the FaceTime App > Preferences > iPhone Cellular Calls
Also, Bluetooth turned on for both devices and both devices on the same wi-fi network.

  • Calling with Imac automatically adds +1 before number

    Hi,
I have an Imac and an iPhone 5. when i receive calls, i can pick up on the iMac. Everything is running on the latest version of the software.
When I want to call out using my Imac and click on a phone number in Safari it automatically puts a +1 countrycode before the number.
This makes it not usable because I live in Europe. I look at all the regional settings on the Imac as well as on the iPhone and the are all correct. How can I fix this?
Is it a setting or a bug?

    hello,
    you need yo go to apple scroll down menu ( top bar to the far left) ;
then clic on TCP/IP . the TCP dialog opens .
then press command+K ( command=apple key) . clic on duplicate then rename to create a new configuration . then clic Select to activate it .
now you re back to the TCP/Ip dialog .
From top connexion scroll , choose Ethernet
From configuration scroll , choose DHCP .
then close the TCP window and clic ok to accept settings .
that should do it .if not , try a restart .

  • Call my iMac from my iPhone

I'm trying to find out how to call my iMac from my iPhone. Both devices use my apple id. I get that when I use the iMac to FaceTime my phone it uses my phone number, which is unique to that device. I've read other discussions here about adding a different email address to preferences in facetime and call that address, but I kept getting a message that the new email address was not available for facetime. I think it was because that new email was now associated with my apple id on both the phone and the iMac. There's probably an easy fix for this, but I haven't gotten it yet.

No, not possible, in my experience.  By switching the call from your Mac back to the iPhone, you have actually sent the call back to where it originated.  It would be a nice feature.  To contact Apple:  https://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html  or for an iPhone feature:  http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

  • Not able to pick up calls without my headphones with iphone 4....what to do?

I have an iphone 4. I listened to my music with the ipod app. Now I am unable to pick up calls without using the headphones. The sound seems to be locked somehow. How do I fix this?

Try plugging and unplugging your earphone a couple of times and see it that fixes your issue. Sometimes the headphone switch does not switch the audio back to the phone.

  • Jabber iPad can't dial internal/external, can't pick up calls

I've installed the COP file into my CUCM, setup my tablet and successfully authenticated however I'm running into two very odd problems.
    1) If I dial my extension, Jabber for the iPad recognizes the call and asks me to pick up, however when I select answer, Jabber does not answer -- the buttons dissapear, and jabber rings for a moment or two more, and the calling phone then hears my voicemail.
    2) I can get nothing but busy signal when dialing internally or externally.
My iPhone version of jabber, and my webex connect integration are working flawlessly.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    ~ Jeremy

    Hi rmille05,
    Thanks for your update.
According to the description, I notice that Company A can't send email to Company B via Outlook.
How is the impact, one user or all users?
Please try to use OWA to send email to Company B from Company A.
If OWA can send email perfectly, it seems an issue on the Outlook client side.
    1. Please run Outlook under safe mode to avoid AVs and add-ins for testing.
    2. Please re-create profile to refresh the caches.
    3. Please try to delete OAB files on local computer, the path of OAB folder in Win7, Win8 as below:
    \Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Offline Address Books
Then try to download OAB manually.
    4. If all methods above don't work, please try to check whether OAB files generated, distributed correctly.
    5. Any related Error/Warning/Information message will be helpful for the further troubleshooting.
    Thanks

  • Cannot pick up calls on wait, Cannot make a second call holding the first call

I have a really weird problem with my iPhone 5S. (iOS 7.1)
    1. When I am on a call, I am not able to pick up a second call that is on wait. I can see the second call, I can hear the beep sounds but as soon as I pick up, the call freezes in 00.00 time, and My first caller is still active, not on hold.
    2. When I am on a call, I am not able to make a second call placing the first call on hold. The second call disconnects immediately with 3 beeps.
    3. I am able to see the incoming calls on wait, when I am already on a call. I am able to hear the beeps coming in. SO it means the call waiting is on (Tried turning it on/off/on too.) But when I pick up the call, the above problem comes in.
What have I tried to solve this: (None of them helped)
    1. I tried a hard reset of my iPhone (Holding Power and Home button)
    2. I tried toggling the Call waiting button
    3. I tried resetting network settings.
    4. I called my Operator for assistance. I am using Airtel, India. They told me to dial this code - *43# . I tried it and it gave me this screen. But the problem is not solved yet.
Is there anybody here who is facing the same issue with your iPhone? I never had this problem with my iPhone 4.

Make sure you do not have "Do Not Disturb" turned on. This feature will block the first call, but is someone calls right back it will be put through.
On the iPhone, go to Settings/Do Not Disturb
Make sure you do not have Do Not Disturb turned on manual or scheduled.

  • Making a phone call from iMac

When I make the call from my iMac, my phone has the white screen with the Apple logo on it. Is that how it works?

'The phone number is a special case, since a phone-based implementation may be linked to the native phone dialing application'
quoting YOUR quote this 1 sentence explains it all. MIDP spec has allowed for the input of a Phone Number in the event manufacturer classes give the capability to perform such a function.
As for which manfacturer API's actually allow you to make calls - I don't know. I know siemens doesn't but havn't looked into the API's from other manufacturers.
    rob.
frankly writing a midlet for 1 specific manufacturers phone defeats the whole purpose of using java in the first place ;-/

  • Pick Up Call on Hold with Pickup Softkey

On CME if you put a call on hold on your extension, you can use the call pick and dial the extension number and it will pull the call to another phone.
Does CUCM have that featue with out parking the call?
I want to be able to put a call on hold...walk up to a different phone and pull that call to that phone
Everthing I read about Call PickUp, Directed Call PickUp, Group Pick up is for ringing calls not for calls on hold.

Have you looked at Directed Call Pickup feature, I am unsure if it can pickup a held call or just ringing call though. Might be something you would want to test.

  • Cannot make or receive calls on iMac

I have an iPhone 6 running 8.1, and have been able to make and receive calls and sms on office iMac, iPad, MacBook air. Home iMac (less than 1 year old) cannot do so. It tries, but says 'call failed'.
Short of reinstalling Yosemite, not sure what to do. Any ideas?

I just solved this by doing a clean install of Yosemite in my 2007 iMac. phone calls are working fantastic outgoing and incoming.

  • Calling from iMac

It appears that trying to make a call from my contacts list on my iMac via my iPhone 5 that if you have a country code +61 etc it will not work. Works fine with standard numbers.
Can anyone confirm this and I will send a report to Apple.
    Cheers
    Bill

  • The screen saver keeps shifting back to generic picks that came from iMac

I have a set of pics that I use as screen saver. But every once in a while it changes the screen saver pics to the National Geographic pics that came with the iMac. Why is that happening and should I be concerned.? I switch it back, and afyter a while, it goes back.

Back up all data. Quit System Preferences if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return. A folder should open. If it does, look for a file with a long name that begins "com.apple.screensaver". There may be several such files. Move them all to the Trash.
Log out or restart the computer. Test. If the problem is resolved, empty the Trash and recreate your settings in the Screen Saver tab.

  • Unable to pick the call when 5800 is in lock mode ...

    HI,
My 5800 mobile has been updated with  V40.0.005.C03.01 through nokia service center.
After this instalation, I have faced following problems in LOCK MODE. I am not sure, whether it is setting problem or software bug.
    1. In lock mode, whenever I get a call, I am not able to receive the call or unlock using touch screen buttons, though it displays 2 buttons in screen. 2 Buttons: Answer & Unlock.
But I can use the physical buttons(Grean & Red) to receive or cancel the call and I can unlock the mobile using side physical scroll button. So why these touch screen buttons (Answer & Unlock)  not working, in lock mode.
    2. In lock mode, I can't snooze or stop the alarm using touch screen buttons, though it displays 2 buttons in screen. 2 Buttons: Stop & Snooze. But I can use only Red physical button to snooze. But I can't use any other buttons niether physical nor touch buttons to stop the alarm. Only way to stop the alarm is first snooze the alarm using Red physical button, then unlock the mobile using side physical scroll button, then goto clock, check the alarms list, then click on remove touch button. So why these touch screen buttons (Stop & Snooze)  not working, in lock mode.
This is happening only after software update to V40.0.005.C03.01 .   I am not sure, whether it is setting problem or new software bug.
    Thanks.
    Prakash
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Don't really wanna do the hard re-set and loose everything on the phone and start from scratch again. I took it to the retailer that sold the phone to me last week and they want to replace it with a brand new one, as they think it's a fault with the phone. While am happy to get a brand new one, I don't wanna do that either and go through downloading all the applications I have downloaded on mine, especially knowing that this retailer only has in stock the 5800 phone with V20 loaded on them from the factory, so I will end-up going through the software upgrade process all over again to V31 and probably face the same problem at the end.
I think I will just get used to answering the calls using the green button instead.
    Thanks,

  • N8: won't pick up calls

I got my N8 around 2 months ago, it was working fine before, but like it started going funny recently
    1. when ever someone calls, it rings for 1 second and then freezes
    2. and then restart
    3. it repeats whenever someone calls, but i have no problem receiving calls though
It's been like that for a week..... and i have no idea what is wrong with it, i even tried resetting it to factory defult.....
anyone have the same problem? any chance fixing it?

What brand router do you have?  I have a netgear router and entering 192.168.0.1 into the address window on my internet browser gives me access to the router once I then enter the user name and password into the window that pops up.  If you don't know the ip address to access the router you might search the net to find out what the address might be for your brand of router.  If you can't remember the user name and password you might need to reset the router to factory defaults and redo all the settings.  If you don't know the factory default user name/password for your router once again you might find that on the net.  You might not want to reset the router so try what MicBook says.
