Pick up wrong Material description

Hi all,
Iu2019m getting wrong Material description in the report output.
Iu2019m displaying the report based on the sales order numbers.
But one sales order number doesn't have the material number,
Its not display the material number
But its display the Material description for previous material number description
How can I avoid this description in output?

Hi ,
You need to clear the work area after appending into the internal table.
like:
append workarea to internal table.
clear workarea.

Incorrect Language picked for Material Description

Hello,
While creating an order from VA01, under the line items, we are entering a material which has a description maintained in two languages - Chinese and English. We choose the F4 help to get the list of languages. We are selecting English and clicking on ok. But the text appears in Chinese on the VA01 screen although we have selected English.
What could the problem be? We want the text to appear in English when we choose the English description.

Please check this and update
The system determines the language of the material description in VA01
in three steps (FV45PF0M_MAAPV_SELECT):
DA_SPRAS = KUAGV-SPRAS.            <= comm. language of sold-to
IF DA_SPRAS = SPACE.
    DA_SPRAS = TVKO_SADR-SPRAS.      <= language of sales organization
ENDIF.
IF DA_SPRAS = SPACE.
    DA_SPRAS = SY-LANGU.             <= logon language
ENDIF.
So , you first take the sold-to party language and if a description
of the material exists in this language, you get the material
description in that language.
If no material description is maintained for the sold-to party lang.
the system will use the language of the sales organisation.
If no sales organisation language is maintained, the system will
lastly use the login language.

Material description in GR & PO differ

Dear All,
User has created a PO for a 'Non-stock' material and before saving the PO he has changed the decription of the material in the PO. A GR was created with reference to this PO. In this GR the descrption of the material is not the same as that maintained in the PO. Instead it is getting picked from the material master which is not correct. This does not happen with other material types.
Please advise if any setting is required to done so that the description(short text) of the material is copied from the PO into the GR and not from the material master.

It was a error in SAP system which was corrected by SAP note 860619. Please implement this note.

Language of material description in Outbound Delivery

Hi,
I have created an STO for a new Greek customer Plant and the communication language in the customer master data for this plant was set to Greek.
As consequence, my Outbound Deliveries from an Italian Plant have been created with a Material Description in Greek...In the meantime, I changed the communication language in the customer master data to english to have the description in english for any new outbound delivery created...
I deleted the deliveries with wrong language and tried to re-create them after this language change but the problem is still the same (material description in Greek).
So, it seems that the customer language taken into account is the one that was assigned to the customer at the time the STO was created...The language change will only solve my future documents (STO) so I am looking for a way to correct my deliveries already created as I can not cancel my STO...

Thanks for reply. But I dont think this works. In another instance of SAP where this functionality is working, I have checked the Item usage and its not CHSP. It is V and batch split is happening.
Still, I will try once and let u know if this works.

Printing Material Description in Arabic for Smartform

Hi All,
I have created a custom smartform for printing the PO, Sales Invoice.
The material description is maintained from RTL-Arabic language in Material Master(MM02) - محبس بليه بلاكورين 75م.
I need to print the above material description alone within the Item window in arabic language as displayed above but it is getting reversed when I see the print preview of PO and Sales Invoice.
Initially, I got to know from some SDN forum replies that we need to enable Arabic Font in our workstation(PC) so that it can be solved and then some suggested that Arabic font should be installed in SAP system.(Tried both the options, but could not resolve issue).
Even we tried in SE63 to translate the text but we couldnot.
SE63->Translation->ABAP Objects->Other Long texts->FS(Forms & Styles)->SSF->Smartform Name->Source/Target Lang->Edit. Window with the english version opens at the top and at the bottom, there is an editable window for translation.
But I could not further proceed as I didnt know how to do translation for the text elements.
Correct me if I am wrong in these steps.
Could anyone suggest me a solution to resolve this issue and explain the steps to do the translation in SE63.

Yes we tried using the STRING_REVERSE FM. But the thing is the description contain some numerals in between the text, so it get reversed if we use the FM. So it wont suit our purpose.
Is there any printer configuration to be done to resolve this issue? Or any other settings within the smartform?
We have to display the text as maintained in Material Master, the variable get populated correctly while debugging but it get reversed when we look at the print preview.

Screen Display Language of Material Descriptions in PO vs Output Documents

Greetings Experts,
We have the requirement to display material descriptions in purchase order screens as well as other screens in language dictated by user setting and not the business partner preference. Currently, when we log on as user with English language setting and create purchase order for vendor with a Korean language setting, the material description in the screen is displayed in Korean. So it appears that system ignores the UI preference and displays the material description in the vendor's language/comunication preference. We see this same behavior in other SAP transactions as well. Is there a way for display language for material description to be dictated by user logon preference while retaining ability to output documents that are required in vendor's preferred language?

The material description will come from the material master record, so whic language you are entering in the material master it automatically pick to the purchasing documents.
If you need material description in different language you can do this in material master itself goto additional data and maintain there.

Accounting Doc Profit Center picked is wrongly

Hi guys
I have a Task of updatingg the correct Profit Center in an Accounting Document (For which the Profit Center is wrongly taken while posting)
The issue is Stock has been transferred from one Plant to another Plant. A Material Doc gets generated and also an Accounting Document gets generated.
In the Accounting Doc Profit Center picked is wrongly, so now the Profit Center has to be rectified with the correct one without changing or reversing or deleting the accounting doc.
There is a Transaction in Controlling through which we can change it Please let me know on priority. If any clarification revert back so that I can clarify.

Material description - different language

Dear Experts,
We have material with both English and Spanish descriptions. When I create purchase order in English log on or Russian log on, system is picking the description based on the vendor language. It sounds like logical that purchase order is recieved by vendor and hence its picking the vendor language.
But is there any way that material description should refer the log on language and not the vendor language.

But in the same context, I am facing problem with plant description which is maintained in two different languages using international version. But system is picking only one langauge in both English and Spanish.

Material Description while goods movement in CORK

Hi experts,
When i am trying process order confirmation, it pick-up material code only and not material description, and it is very difficult to recognize which material is this by this, so need material description field there, but in standard SAP its not there, please suggest me how can i get description there.

Hi,
In CORK screen,material description is there.it will get displayed next to the material.
If you are lokking in CORK goods movement tab,then it is there in end of teh table ,just drag that next to material field and save the layout.from next time onwards it will get displayed next to that material.
To make description next to material always,first drag that field next to material and then click on the table setting at the right hand corner and create a variant and make that variant as current setting.

About the 40-char Material Description

hello!
I am new to MM. Could you enlighten me why SAP created the material description (MAKT-MAKTX) to only 40-char?

material description is a field, each field is restrited for the number of charecter ,like plant code is 4 char
now for description may they have set 40 as MAXIMUM charecters
just my logic correct me if wrong

Wanted to display material description as 500 char lenth.

When i check in R/3 system they've around 500 charector lengh.
How do i get into BW.

VK11 Material Description Does Not Came from Material Master

It should show the same as mentioned in MM01. Plz check again d MM03 as description for a matieral wil always b picked from Mat. Master only across SAP.

Convert material description to Abbreviations.

Different material description in one language for single material

Is it possible to maintain different material descriptions (In one language-english) for a single material.

Hi,
For a single material code maintaining multiple text in the same language is not possible,
this contradicts the basic principle of consistancy.
Howevery you are free to do R&D, if sucessful please let me know.

Material description is not showing in VL10H

Hi All,
I am running the report VL10H and facing a problem, step which is being followed by me, given below:-
1.Put plant and delivery date and execute.
2.click on label Edit -> Show/hide delivery.
3.Chose the field u201CMaterial descriptionu201D from Layout for output field.
Now here I am seeing that all the materials in this report, having SD Doc i.e. delivery has been created,
Material description is showing and remaining materials which have no delivery (showing in green color),
Material description is not being shown.
Can anybody suggest me regarding this?

now you are just telling it the other way around:

I tested it, and all my sales order and STO order items are showing a material description.
I do not have any items shown which have already deliveries created
About which description are you talking, as I can see 2, one at item level and another one at header level ?
