Picking up sound when on Boot Camp

So my speakers pick up sound when I'm playing a video/music/game like for example when a car is outside or something and I have to volume on low you can somewhat hear the static coming from it,
I think it has something to do with the mic but I tried turning it off and disabling it and I still have the problem.

Install the audio driver from the vendor, does it use Cirrius? or RealTek? you need to install an audio driver or package, Boot Camp just provides hardware device so it can be installed later by the end user.
My Mac Pro uses Realtek and easy enough to install, though I've read here that people had trouble on Macs that require Cirrius. But it is up to you.

my speakers are not working but it still makes a sound when it boots up.

Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried.
    1. Start with the steps recommended in this support article.
    2. If your model has an audio-out (headphone) port, and a red light is coming from it, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a mini-stereo jack of the proper size. Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by your warranty.
If there's no red light, the switch may still be stuck in the headphone position. Try to free it the same way.
    3. Boot in safe mode. Don't log in; just reboot as usual when the login screen appears. When you do, make sure the words "Safe Boot" do not appear in the login screen. If they do, the system is still in safe mode and sound won't work.
    4. Reset the NVRAM.
    5. Reset the SMC.
    6. Reinstall OS X after backing up all data.
    7. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store.

  • No Sound in Windows Boot Camp

hey guys...i just downloaded windows onto my macbook pro via boot camp, and now I am getting no sound when windows is running. Any suggestions? My email is [email protected], you can reach me there, or on this post. I've been doing of searching on problem fixes and nothing seems to work. Thanks in advance

Just to clear up something simple first. Once you booted into Windows then did you insert your Leopard CD in the drive and let Windows install the boot camp drivers? If not then that is your solution.
If you did the above then please tell us which version of windows are you using and a little bit about your computer equipment.

  • Random shutdown when in Boot Camp

Hi there. I manage a school lab of iMacs (20 inch intel imacs, running the latest version of Leopard). Whenever students use Boot Camp, the chances are pretty high of seeing Boot Camp shut down suddenly and starting up in Leopard. What's even odder... sometimes there's a domino effect and two or three other computers also running Boot Camp shuts down & restarts in Mac at the same time. This is beyond weird.
Any ideas? This is driving me nuts.
And no, it doesn't only happen when using a particular application or website. Students can be on the internet, playing a game, using Photoshop, or typing a document in MS Word when this happens.
    Hoping for answers!

It sounds like the systems are BSOD'ing (Blue Screen of Death crash), and, you have the default startup volume to be the Mac OS.
If the systems are BSOD'ing, you'll want to look for any minidumps (C:\Windows\minidump). They are timedate stamped, so, you can determine if the crashes happened during times you would expect them to (i.e. when the students were using the computers and they spontaneously rebooted). Analyzing minidump files can be a bit tricky. If you can find a way to share a couple of them, I'd be happy to analyze them.
If you don't want them to boot to the Mac OS, that can be changed from either OS.

  • How do you switch iMac 27" display when in Boot Camp (Windows 7)?

    Hello,
My 27" iMac works great as an external display as long as the iMac is booted into OS X and I hit command-F2.
When I boot my iMac into Boot Camp (Windows 7) however, hitting command-F2 doesn't work to use my iMac as an external display.
Is there any way to get the 27" iMac to enter external display mode if you have booted it into Windows 7 rather than OS X?
    Thanks!

I have the same problem, 64bit Win7 Home Ed. loaded with all the recent updates including a Bootcamp patch from last week.
I posted on 9/2/10 and haven't gotten a reply. Did a lot of Google searching but only found it is a problem many have, but that no "real" solution is available.
Since I have had issues in Win7 after it crashes this way and after on/off (unlike you), I'm not willing to mess with it anymore.
I doubt Microsoft will commit to fixing this and it's not likely to be a top priority for Apple.

  • How do I prevent the Lion boot partition from being reformatted when using boot camp?

Under Windows 7, Computer Mgt, I shrink the C drive to create another drive.  When I right click on the unused drive to format it, 200MB Lion boot is formatted and assigned a drive letter F.  But I did not tell Windows 7 Computer Management to do that.  I clicked on the unused 170GB space to create it as F, I did not click on the 200MB Lion boot partition at the front of the list.
Now I have to take the computer back to the Apple store to reinstall Lion for me.
I tried this twice and it happened twice.  So now I need to go back to the Apple store a second time for help on the same problem.
Would the 200MB Lion boot disk at the front be safe from reformatting if I first made it drive letter F, and then made the new drive letter H at the right side of the drive list in Computer Management?  Also, there is an unlettered drive between the Lion drive E and the Windows 7 drive C.  Should I make that G prior to formatting drive H?
By the way, I did this on another MacBook pro that was using Snow Leopard, following the same procedure, and had no problems.  So could a different version of Boot Camp be the issue?

I just found an older question similar to this one that you also replied to. It was from 2012 and never solved. The only things I am using in my set up is a male quarter inch cable from my guitar to my interface, a USB cable from my interface to my computer, and headphones from my interface to my ears of course. Just like in the other question I found I have everything in the Audio MIDI Setup of the computer set to use the interface as input and output and I also have everything in garage band setup to use the interface as audio input and output. Any new track is recording the metronome and any old track that is being played in the headphones. No external speakers are being used for monitoring and no microphones are being used.

  • HELP - Mac Prp Freezes when Installing Boot Camp Drivers

    Please HELP me!
I just installed Windows XP Pro SP2 on its own hard disk on my Mac Pro using Boot Camp.
Then I inserted the Leopard Install DVD and started to install the boot camp drivers.
In the middle of installing the "Intel chipset" my Mac Pro froze. The might mouse no longer would move the cursor etc. After waiting 10 minutes, I just rebooted.
In the troubleshooting section of the Guide, it suggested I re-run the Boot Camp Drivers and click repair. I could not see any "Repair" option. The only option was INSTALL. I tried to install the Boot Camp drivers again and the mac Pro froze again (now showing Broadcom drivers).
Any ideas? This is really frustrating.
    Rob

I was able to complete the boot camp drivers wizard in Windows. But I had to first disconnect my firwire iSight and my Apple USB Modem.
But now when I reboot I still see a new Hardware Found Wizard. It looks like it did not load the iSight Drivers.
Now when I run the Boot Camp Drivers I see REPAIR. I tried that but that did not solve the problem. No drivers are being loaded for my firewire iSight. In Device Manager I see question marks beside iSight.
    Any Ideas?

  • Error when installing boot camp services 2.0

When installing the windows drivers (whatever is auto installed from the leopard cd when in windows via bootcamp) I get the following error message:
The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation
I AM the administrator and only user. I have gone through and done the registry fixe mentioned here, as well as another one I cant remember the link for:
    http://bonkel.wordpress.com/2008/04/07/the-system-administrator-has-set-policies -to-prevent-this-installation/
This has occurred because I installed SP3, and then realized I should upgrade to bc 2.1 . So, I uninstalled SP3 (nightmare.) and when I tried to uninstall bc it would not let me because 2.1 had a previously failed install attempt. I used a program called perfect uninstall 5.5 to uninstall it, but clearly a bit in the registry is left. I have gone through manually and deleted all I could find about boot camp, but help is much appreciated as I still get this message!!!

Could you share your solution, in case someone ever finds this thread looking for a solution for a similar problem?
    Thanks in advance

  • When do Boot Camp updates come?  Mac Pro SATA issue driving me NUTS

I just got a Mac Pro, FINALLY, and after a long wait, I've had to suffer through hours of shoving Windows XP on my Mac Pro with Boot Camp 1.1. After successfully getting it all put on there, the stupid SATA issues are driving me nuts. I tried the slipstreaming fix TWICE, and I have no patience to try it a third.
Basically, I know 1.1 just came out, but do we know when the next update will come that will supposedly fix the SATA issues? How often do updates come for this so we can have a basic window of when the update will come?

but to expect Apple to support Windows SATA driver issue IMHO is not a fair expectation of Apple
I disagree… in this case at least. Apple has stated that Boot Camp is a feature of Mac OSX 10.5 Leopard and to not have it work correctly, or to its potential, on their flagship product, the Mac Pro, as it were intended then this makes it unacceptable. For Apple's customers and for Apple themselves.
Apple IS ultimately responsible for having this work out of the box and with standard off the shelf product, which includes the minimum Windoews product (Microsoft Windows XP SP2 at this time).
Bear in mind that Boot Camp is still in beta so demanding a fix is a little difficult and the the part that I feel is unfair to Apple. While I have stated previously (in another thread) that Apple will fix this issue… they can't not, it appears the reality may be a little more difficult. It is possible that upon the release of Leopard the minimum system requirements on the Mac Pro will be Windows Vista.
What I find a little odd though is that there are no SATA issues on the rest of the Mac product line.

  • Wireless insanely slow in Mac OSX, normal when using boot camp

I have my recently purchased Macbook (White) always in the same place hooked up to my external display, one floor above the wireless g router.
However, when I am in Mac OSX 10.5.5, my network is REALLY REALLY PAINFULLY slow. It has the same reception (airport logo almost full) but Safari times out, cannot sometimes even load Google, etc. etc., making networking almost unusable in Mac OSX. However, when I use Windows XP on Boot Camp, it is the normal speed.
My other Macbooks (older versions) do not have this problem. They all have Mac OSX 10.5 installed with all the updates, and have the same Windows XP in Boot Camp. Still I think this is a software issue rather then a hardware issue because in Boot Camp everything is fine. They all have the firewall turned on. They all have the same reception. They are all (alternate) in the exact same spot.
    Any suggestions?

    Tried it.
I even reinstalled Mac OSX from scratch, and still the same problem.
The update from some time ago (the Airport update for intel macs) does not matter.
Restarting my router does not matter. I also get good internet reception on my iPhone 3G.
And, in Windows still OK reception.
I have also noticed that my internet download speed changes from 20kbps to 80 kbps and back again.
Repairing permissions does not matter either.

  • No sound after completing Boot Camp?

    Hi everyone,
I recently discovered Boot Camp, and I had a spare Windows 7 CD lying around, so I figured that I might as well give it a shot and see what happened.
Everything went perfectly fine, down the the last detail, except for one thing. There's no sound! I tried booting from Mac OS X (as opposed to Win 7, which I'd been booting off of earlier), and still no sound. Not from YouTube, not from the system, nothing. I figured this was probably because of a missing driver, but unfortunately Apple is so concerned about helping you that they don't let you help yourself, and instead of simply redownloading the driver I'm forced to put up this post. In any case, could anyone redirect me to some sort of driver download page?
    Any ideas would be appreciated,
    Dylan
P.S. Apple - you might want to consider adding support options other than Express Lane. Not everyone's covered under warranty, and we's like some free support if you don't mind

you have to download the windows driver from the BootCamp.
First go to Mac and Open the BootCamp and download the windows driver.

  • Serious problem when instaling Boot Camp.

Hi, I hope someone can help me because my boot camp has been giving me every problem imaginable.
When I first tried to install windows, boot camp had no problems creating the partition, but my windows XP, for whatever reasons, did not installed.
So, I borrowed a trial windows from a friend, it installed ok, and I installed 3Ds Max in it(which is pretty much the only reason I needed boot camp, since I don't own a PC), and everything was perfect for the 30 days the trial version lasted.
Then, after it expired, I destroyed, the re-created the partition again, and another friend gave me a copy of his windows XP, and from her everything went to ****. The system installed correctly, but when I ran windows, the graphics were incredibly slow, even dragging a window around the desktop looked really jaggy, and 3DS Max installed, but wouldn't run.
I tried the exact same thing with other 2 windows xp copies(all 32 bit), and the exact same thing happened. And now, I have noticed the when I create the partition for windows, it renames itself "untitled" in the mac os desktop, and, even if I erase it, when I turn on the computer it doesn't get me directly to Mac OS, but rather searches for the windows partition even if it's no longer there. I have to press the alt key for the mac partition to appear.
I hope someone can at least tell me what the **** is wrong with my boot camp, thanks to everybody in advance.

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
as for the startup problem: once you are in OSX goto System Preferences - Startup Volume and set your OSX volume to be the default startup volume.
(During the Windows installation this is set to be the WIndows partition and remains that way until resetted).
For the obvious with the Windows installation: after the successful installation of Windows did you insert your OSX install DVD while in Windows to install the needed BootCamp Windows Drivers ?
If not, then that's why you had these graphics problems.
Read through the BootCamp Installation Guide here http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/

  • Sound problems in boot camp 2.0

    Hi,
I know, I know that there is already a post out there addressing this issue. With my current configuration I have installed boot camp but have no sound at all. no hissing, no stuttering sound. Nothing. I have installed the latest driver from realtek 1.82. But it still doesn't solve the problem. If I right click on the PCI device with the Yellow exclamation mark on it and tell it to update the drivers. That doesn't work either. I don't know wether there is any apple staff reading these posts but if not I will have to call them until it is solved. Too many people have just let it go and not solving the problem. I want it solved and a proper solution. Has anybody had luck doing anything different from what I have described above?
