The manual says the same thing I mentioned. To use what ever method you normally use for any other digital camera.
When you plug in the phone does your computer pop up saying something about what do you wish to do with one of the options being the Camera/Scanner Wizard? If so, you can use that. Or you can just browse to it via My Computer and the iPhone is listed as a camera like any other camera would be.
Then you can just copy and paste files off like normal files.
Some people use photo management software like Picasa or something thus the reason it just acts as a digital camera as far as your computer sees as there is a standard to programs such as Picasa can see it and take off photos and manage them.
This is why there is not finite unstructions, it only states follow the instructions your photo software gives you, if you don't use any, then Windows by default has it's Camera/Scanner wizard built in that will take over.

  • Was downloading pics from iphone4 to computer and it quit halfway through and now says i need to restore :( any fixers??

it's fully charged, i have it plugged into my computer and all itunes says is that it needs to be restored. and my phone has a pic of the usb cord going to the itunes symbol. don't want to lose my pics

Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything...
To minimise loss... Connect to iTunes on the computer you Usually Sync with and Restore from the most recent Backup...

  • I got this message when saving photo from Iphone4s to my laptop's folder. "The device attached to the system is not functioning"  What can I do?

I cannot save photo to my deskstop. When I copy to my folder, it indicated "The device attached to the system is not functioning".  I don't update my IOS to the latest version in case my photo from my iphone will be missing.  Please help. Thanks.

The Only thing I could do to save my pictures on my computer was to send them via Facebook chat to myself, send them one by one then on your computer open then and dragging them is way faster than right-click Save As. I just did that and I do not want to reset my phone so I guess I will continue doing this as I get more pictures or until I feel like resetting my phone. I believe this issue happens when you Connect and while transfering one or more file from one end to another, and you suddenly disconnect the iPhone or any apple divece, the file that wasnt completely transfered gets corrupted and I guess the whole /Picture/Video folder or perhaps the whole device gets corrupted as well. I am sure that this is a cause to this issue but I do not know if there are other causes or if the same one happened to you.
How to prevent this from happening again?
Always go to iTunes and click on "Eject" under your device tab before disconnecting your device from your computer. Even if you are not transfering any files at all.

  • IPhoto won't import JPEG pics from iPhone4

I'm not able to import photos taken with my new iPhone 4 into iPhoto; I get the warning 'unrecognized file format' and a list of files, and they're all in JPG format. Any suggestions how to solve this problem?

  • Uploading pics from iPhone4

Whenever I have plugged in my iPhone through USB to charge and upload photos I have taken on my iPhone, my MacBook Pro automatically launches iPhoto and asks me if I want to upload the photos but now it seems as if my MacBook Pro is not recognizing my iPhone.  It is charging the phone though.  What has happened? How can I get my MacBook Pro to recognize my iPhone again?

somehow my MacBook Pro recognized my iPhone now.... I switched USB cables but I also unplugged phone end and replugged in??! One or both of those things did it...

  • How to see pics from my USB on my Mac?

I have copied some of my pics from my Windows based Laptop onto my USB(Intenso), and want to copy / save them to my Mac and view them there!
I have tried to open it with iPhoto, I couldnt.  I have openoffice on my Mac, but openoffice "text" opens automatically if I want to view those pics on my USB but not the one for "photos"!
Does anyone know, how to use openoffice / iPhoto to open / view & save pics on to a Mac with pics originally caming from a Windows based system!

    Hey u2sweetestallie,
Thanks for the question and detailed information. If your backup drive (in your example, drive A) included the iTunes Library files, you can open the library by following these steps:
iTunes: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one

If the hard drive did not include the iTunes Library files, but instead just the music, you may wish to re-link or re-import the music:

  • How to send pics from phone to laptop

Ive got the iphone 4s and am trying to send pics from the phone to the laptop but all itunes seems to want to do is to send pics and music from the laptop to the phone. This was so much easier with my HTC so it shouldnt  be this hard with an iphone surely.

When you connect you Iphone to your computer, if you are using Windows, Camera and Picture Wizard (or just use My Computer and copy and paste the pictuers) you can use to import photos. If using you MAC you can use Image Capture and import the photos  That is what I do for backup up all my photos and videos.
Wirelessly, I use PhotoSync app. I think its a $1.99 but I love it. It can sync photos wirelessly to a MAC or Windows, but also supports Supports direct upload via Wi-Fi and 3G/LTE to your favorite web services - Dropbox, Google+/Picasa, Facebook, SmugMug, Flickr, Box, Zenfolio, (S)FTP, WebDAV & iDisk. It can also send to other iOS devices as I do this to send pics directly to my IPAD or other peoples iOS.

Are you syncing the photos using Itunes?
When you plug your phone into your PC, in Itunes under the picture tab you can sync photo and then choose the photos.

Sounds like you encrypted your iPhone backup, & if so it's asking for the encrypted backup password. Do you have a company Exchange account on your phone?

  • I cannot move my pics from my ipad to my laptop

I cannot move my pics from my ipad to my laptop.  When I plug my ipad into my laptop nothing happens. The Autoplay screen does not come up.

They are photos that weren't originally synced from a computer i.e. they were taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites ? If so then you should be able to enable the windows camera wizard on your computer so that it appears when you connect the iPad : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1500
