Pics suddenly look funky after being saved as tiffs

I use Windows 7 and PS CS4. Haven't had any problems until last time I worked on a group of photos of in PS, got them to look the way I wanted, and saved them as tiffs when I finished. (I have done this many times before with no issues) When I went back to Bridge to view them again, all of my tiffs (even ones that I had not just worked on) looked funky. They are all now very bright and nuclear looking. My jpegs and raw files are normal with no changes. I have NO idea why they all look this way, and is there anything I can do now that they are tiffs to make them look normal again?? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Well, that suggests a color management issue. Since it is only happening with tiffs, however, it may have to do with the source profiles in your images. Some cameras do not attach a source profile to jpeg images and raw files typically get profiles after going through ACR, so IF that represents the kind of images you are dealing with it would only be the edited images saved as tiffs that have a source profile embedded.
So the question is why should this all of a sudden be a problem. Since you are working in Win 7, you may either have a new computer, or at least a new installation of the operating system, and consequently a new install  of CS4. That suggests that your color settings may now be different than when you created the old tiffs. Depending on your current Photoshop working space and your color management policies this could produce different appearances.
I have no idea why the new tiffs might look different unless they have no profile saved with them.
You may also have a new display and a  new display profile, but that should change the appearance of all the file types, not just the tiffs. So I suggest checking your color settings and see if they are as they have always been. Not a crisp answer I know, but a few things that came to mind in readng your post.

  • Adobe document automatically opens after being saved

I utilize Google Chrome on a Microsoft Vista platform.  Each time I save a document as a PDF it automatically opens in Adobe Reader. Is there a way to disable this feature?

Sorry if there is some confusion on my part.  I am using Office 2007 and after creating an Excel document I choose the "save as" option, which offers dozens of formats with one being simply "PDF."  After the document is saved in this PDF format, Adobe Reader opens the document in the Adobe program. I am using the free Adobe Reader program, version 10.1.8

  • Upgraded to CS5.5. Images in Indesign are displayed in lower quality after being saved in PS

    Hello,
i upgraded to the Creative Suite 5.5 today and detected a strange behaviour. I work on a document which has been generated on another system with an older version of the Creative Suite. Everything is
fine until i open and save one of the images which are used in an Indesign-Layout in Photoshop. After doing this the saved image is displayed with lower quality than before while all other pictures
remain at the same preview quality level. Of course i can change to »Überdruckenvorschau – maybe overprint preview« (Sorry - i do not know how this is named in the english version) or change to the high quality view but
this is a little bit too much for working.
    Do you have any ideas?
    thank you so much,
    tm

I suspect the old High Quality preview was retained (like the text layout will be retained on a converted file until you touch the story in some way, at which point it will be recomposed using the new text engine) and when you replaced the image a new prview as drawn using the current view settings.
Enable High Quality Display if that's the view you want.

  • Why are my Jpg files so small after being saved from Nef

    Hi,
I am finally posting after months of trying to figure out why my images are saving so small, some 4mb after converting from Nef to Jpg.
I am shooting with a Nikon D4s and came from a D800. I was spoilt with really large file sizes and now I am freaking out because my jpegs are so small.
I am checking all the right boxes as far as I can see to save the jpg as large as I can, and I am not cropping the images before saving as Jpg.
Has anyone else had this problem? I can't understand why a camera as amazing as the D4s is giving me such small files. I have read everywhere that my files need to be over 6mb to be classed as high res.
The only thing that I can think of is maybe I am pushing my nefs too hard in camera raw/lightroom resulting in a loss of quality? Although my exposure is correct 90% of the time so Im only playing with highlights or luminance.
Can anyone walk me through the process of what I should be doing so I can end this headache!
    Thanks in advance!

Images are 16pm (4928x3280px as you say), and the doc is 48mb.
So here's where I really show myself up... am I right in assuming that the more adobe compresses an image the lower the mb is on the final file, meaning if there is less detail (i.e. the low-key image is predominately black) then the jpeg will be smaller. Does this affect the print quality?
4mb seems very low res to me. How can I retain as much of the information as possible? Do you think I should sharpen more to retain detail? Or does it even matter and I'm fretting over nothing!
Okay. The file dimensions are fine, so we're talking purely about content and compression.
As I already said, the low-key image contains very little data in the first place (lots of black and no colour), so it compresses well.  The dreamy woman image contains a lot of plain blue sky and out-of-focus background, so that compresses well too. No surprises there.
Have you got any more detailed images with greater depth of field? Try creating a JPEG of that and see how big the file is.
An Adobe JPEG Quality setting of 12 means minimum compression and therefore maximum file size. But, even so, if you saved an image which was just a single plain colour, you would find that the resulting JPEG would be just a few kB. This is how compression works.
The lower the quality number is set, the higher the compression, the more detail is lost, and the more JPEG artefacts are created in the image.  You are already saving at 12 quality, which is the highest setting, so you are minimising any problems with detail. You should save as TIFF if you want absolutely no loss of detail, but the file sizes are much bigger.
4MB is not a resolution. Think of it as packing a suitcase. If you're taking lots of books, you won't get the lid down. If you're taking lots of soft woollen sweaters, you can take lots. 4MB is an indication of the space that your packed image takes—if it's made of light fluffy stuff then it will be a smaller suitcase! :-)
You should sharpen your images the same as any other. Large areas of plain or out-of-focus background need not be sharpened. You're okay. Stop worrying!

  • Site doesn't look right after being published

I'm a website newbie, and I think I have bitten off more than I can chew. Designed my site, published it, used websafe fonts all the links worked. Look great in Safari on my computer. Then I tried to check it out on the PC with IE... yikes!! So I did some research and saw that's a common IE problem, so tried to view it in Firefox on the PC, looked worse. So I downloaded Safari for the PC... same problem, it looked terrible- text boxes were shifted, flash was coming to the front and covering links, you could see the bounding boxes on some of the pics. eeeeekkkk.
here's the URL if anyone wants a good laugh!!
    www.rrcaninesuites.com
    Thanks!
    - Kath

The site looks OK -- actually quite impressive for what appears to be a from-scratch design.
In Opera 10 under Snow Leopard 10.6.1, the design doesn't start to explode until the horizontally scrolling marquee comes across. I would strongly recommend just removing that marquee; it is an extremely outdated element of web design. If you do that, the design shouldn't blow up on you in other browsers.

  • IPod suddenly starts playing after being inactive for some time

After using my iPod I press the play/pause button and keep it pressed for some seconds to turn the iPod off.
Some hours later -I don't know exactly how long since this usually occurs overnight- the iPod starts playing music!!!
Am I missing something when turning the iPod off?
Does someone have the same problem?
If so, have you been able to fix it?

Is this happening all the time? because i sort of had the same problem..for some unknown reason to me, my iPod kept turning on every morning, and i couldn't find out why. Then i realised i had set the alarm thing on my iPod to 9am every morning, months ago! it could be your alarm setting, otherwise i have no idea! hope i helped!

  • Why is my iphone 4 suddenly not working after being forced to "restore to iTunes" and automatic update to iOs7. Phone has been restored, reset and recovered. Will not activate to server. I need a new phone Apple!!

I heard about all the problems with the new iOs 7 update but also heard Apple would force me to do it. I tried to update but didn't have enough space. Had to delete ALOT of my apps and still not enough space. Phone was working perfectly fine and message pops up that "I will not have any service until I restore to iTunes. I plug into laptop to restore and it forces me to update to iOs7. Takes 3 hours. It updates but phone doesn't restore. Have tried all the troubleshooting tips:reset to factory settings, recover etc. Got a new SIM card because it said I don't have one but I do. Apple support wouldn't help me because I was out of warranty, and said I would have to pay. Went to the Apple store and they couldn't fix it and said "it's a hardware issue" that will cost me $170.00+.  I FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT THE NEW iO7 FRIED MY PHONE'S HARDWARE. The phone is on the HELLO stage and keeps searching but will not activate to server- it's temporarily unavailable. Have tried multiple times.I have a 3 year contract with Rogers and the phone is less than 2 years old. Apple needs to take responsibility for crashing my phone. I NEED A FREE NEW PHONE!!!

Restore it to factory settings, then set it up from your back up. Did this last year when I got my new iPod, and it worked. I have no idea why syncing OTA can sometimes glitch, but hopefully this will help.

  • Words in PDF's not showing up after being saved

When I try to save some documents off of a website, the PDF comes up but the words and numbers are missing.
Example: When I go to Comcast and I try to save the bill from the website to my computer, then try to open it, the PDF opens and there's no error box but the words and numbers don't show up.
However, if I go to a State website and save a document, the document opens with no problem and the words and numbers DO show up in the PDF.
I double checked and everything is update. I am using Firefox 22.0 and my Adobe is up to date as well.
    PLEASE HELP!!!!

I clicked on the link but it said I had 354 fonts installed.
If I had corrupted fonts, wouldn't Adobe or Firefox give me an error? Because I never get an error code or anything. The font and numbers just don't show up.

  • Saving pics all day in JPEG, suddenly they are being saved w/name of pic as format?

I don't know why they are suddenly being saved with the name of the pic as the format. Of course they won't open!  Any ideas?

What operating system and version of photoshop elements are you using?
You mean no file extension is visible in the saved jpeg name?

  • Despite add-ons and settings, cookies are still being saved after Firefox closes.

I have set Firefox to delete all cookies when Firefox closes. This does not work but I have read this is by design (although there is absolutely no point in having this option if it does not do what it says). So after reading forums I have tried several other things. I have both BetterPrivacy and DoNotTrackPlus installed. I have also set browser.sessionstore.privacy_level to "2" and browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash to "false" in about:config which I have seen in several posts. Finally, I only use the internet with Private Browsing now. Despite all of those precautions, AVG continues to pick up what appear to be the same 9 cookies constantly.
They are all located in ...\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies:
    VKE7AOYE.txt:\adtmt.com.b3e33b5f, VKE7AOYE.txt:\adtmt.com.7247c262,
    VKE7AOYE.txt,
    J2Q8V5BO.txt:\fastclick.net.c38980e4, J2Q8V5BO.txt:\fastclick.net.8a6435e9,

    3Z7Y9OHL.txt:\ad.yieldmanager.com.557bf2b0, 3Z7Y9OHL.txt:\ad.yieldmanager.com.539b0606,
    and 3Z7Y9OHL.txt.
How can I avoid this? I am fairly tired of cookies, persistent cookies, LSO cookies, what have you. What is the point of all of these actions if none of them stop cookies from being saved permanently on my computer? Is it just Firefox that has dropped the ball here or do other browsers also have these issues? I have been a long-time Firefox fan but thinking of changing after all of this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Thanks for your reply jscher2000. It took me a while me to hunt down what exactly what was causing those cookies but your response helped me to open up my thinking a bit to consider non-firefox alternatives. I got distracted initially trying to see when the cookies were being added which led to a whole side problem of hidden files remaining hidden even when I checked to un-hide them under properties (I finally figured that out using "organize/folder and search options/view" and editing the registry) and then I spent some time performing one action at a time and checking the cookies folder. Imagine my embarrassment when it turns out a game was actually responsible for putting those cookies there (not internet browsing through firefox). Unless there are two applications/add-ons doing it? After deleting some cookies, I started noticing the cookies appearing in a different folder (...\AppData\Local\Temp\Cookies). Either the game changed which folder it was putting the cookies in (originally it was the ...\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies) or two applications/add-ons are putting basically identical cookies in each of the two folders I mentioned. I find it much more reasonable that the game is responsible for both locations and somehow how meddling around with cookies and deleting them and such caused a change given that the game seems to have files in both of those locations (although the files are hidden in one of the locations). Finally, if other people read this, when I was looking for cookies being generated I missed it at first because new files weren't being created necessarily but lines of cookie text were being added to existing files without actually changing the displayed file size. A very long-winded response and probably more than anyone wanted to know but thanks again for the time and effort of your answer jscher.

  • Flash CC crashes after publishing iOS app + publish settings are not being saved to file

    I have two issues:
    1. Flash CC crashes every time I publish an iOS app
    2. My Publish Settings are not being saved
    1. Flash CC crashes every time I publish an iOS app
Since yesterday Flash CC keeps crashing right after I publish an iOS app. The app is published correctly though. I tried everything from restarting my MAC, reinstalling Flash, removing the folder "Flash CC 2014" inside Application Support/Adobe. But all this did not work.
    2. My Publish Settings are not being saved
Since the first day I installed Flash CC, it did not save my publish settings along with the .fla-file. I never had this issue with Flash CS 5.5. This was not a very big issue, but now every time I publish an app and Flash CC crashes I have to fill in all the publish settings manually. Now I'm getting frustrated. Even saving my settings as a preset, storing it inside a folder and importing it again, won't help. Then I will get the message: "Import failed: invalid profile file."
Can please anyone help me with these issues? It is quite time consuming to continuously enter the settings manually after every crash.
    Thanks!

  • Illustrator cc image looks pixelated after saving with transparent background

as the title states; image looks pixelated after saving with transparent background...
i created a logo in adobe illustrator cc and i wanted to saved it for web in order to be able to copy and paste the logo where ever I wanted but the image looks extremely pixelated after saving as an png, and for web. Is there a solution for this?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thank you!!
    Jon

What DPI did you save as:
You should always save as 300dpi, then you can always reduce  the size as needed.
Another thing, don't copy and paste, that always causes that Problem.
In Acrobat you should open Tools Menu click on Content Editing  the Add Image.
Then click on image and choose Properties and place where you want and size as you desire.

  • Messages are not being saved on N96

On my N96 I have set save sent messages and receive report as 'yes' but after updating firmware (20.050) messages are not being saved. Is there any solution to someone.

I have exactly the same problem with my N95 but I can't really say when it started. Suddenly I just noticed my phone didn't save sent messages anymore and hadn't done it for some time, but can't really tell after what it started to occur. Really strange problem, not even reseting back to factory settings helped - after I put "receive report" option back it stops saving sent messages to sent folder. Actually if I go to "sent" folder quickly after sending the sms, it shows there for little moment before disappears. Really strange. I couldn't google any other information about this problem than this topic.
