Pics taken in iphone retain gps info?

Hi-just became an owner of my first iPhone, a 4S. I am wondering if the pictures I take with it retain the gps coordinates when I upload the photos to iPhoto... And in iPhoto that info shows up as Places. I was told at the Apple Store yes but I wanted to get confirmation of that. Thanks! Judy

Yes, if Location Services is turned on for Camera.

  • HT203040 Pics taken by iPhone 6 with flash in dark is not good

    Hi,
I am attaching a pic taken in the dark with iPhone 6 with flash but it's  disappointed me
its picture quality is worst then any camera with 5 mega pixel cam with flash.I think iPhone 6 should not be use with flash

Do you have a case on the iPhone that covers the flash? Light from the flash could be leaking under the case causing this. It could also be caused by a dirty lens.

  • How do I find pics taken with iPhone?

I am pleased with the quality of pics the iPhone 4 is taking. BUT I cannot figure out how to get them onto my computer?
When I SYnc, I cannot find where they are going? I do not see anything on my computer called Camear Roll, which is where they are on the iPhone.
And if I try to import using some program, my iPhone disconnects too fast when I plug it in to the computer to be able to download. It SYncs, then disconnects.
I'm sure there's an easy way to do this that I am missing.
    Thanks

Actually, the question is a good one now. That WAS true, but now apple has changed something. We have three iPhones in the house. A 3G, 3Gs, and a 4, and they're all having this problem. When we plug them into PCs, iTunes opens and we don't get the standard options window, so actually, there's no way to do this now.
So I second the question. I'm just over 30 days and you've changed the way this has always worked. How do we do this now? Do I really have to email myself all the photos I want? That's pretty impractical.

  • Sending pics taken by iphone

I'm trying to find out if when you take a picture with an iphone in order to send it, do you send it as an e-mail attachment and therefore the only way for the receiving person to view it is through e-mail on their phone? Or can you send it from your cell phone to another person's cell phone without going through e-mail? Sorry if this is a lame question but I am sooooo not computer/technology savvy!!
    Thanks!!
    Robin

Sending a photo via a text message is called MMS. Texting only with no attachment is called SMS.
The iPhone supports SMS, but not MMS.
The only way to send a photo from your iPhone is via email.
You can send an email to be received on someone's phone as an MMS if you know the recipient's cell phone email address for MMS. SMS and MMS are basically and for all practical purposes very limited forms of email exchange. There is a very low limit for the message size when sending an MMS, and there is character limit for text with SMS.

  • Is there an easier way to move pics taken on iPhone 3G to Album on iPhone?

So, is there no quick way to put the Camera Roll pictures into an album on the iPhone 3g?
Here is how I do it now:
    1) Click on an image in Camera Roll
    2) Send it to Mobile Me in an album I named Camera Roll
    3) Then download from Mobile Me to my PC
    4) Then put in the folders I am syncing via iTunes.
    5) Then sync iTunes.
    Not every intuitive at all.
    Am I missing something?
Is there a way to move pictures from the "Camera Roll" on the iPhone itself?
    Thanks again.

Yeah, it's all pretty stunted right now. It's been driving me bonkers. I'm looking for a good geotagging solution and all the 3rd party programs are crap and the possibility of MobileMe is just too hampered by limitations.

  • Is the WIFI sync supposed to backup pics taken by iPhone to your computer?

How do I set this up?  I have tried everything and I can not get the iphone to wifi backup in IOS 5 using updated lion.

  • Without turning on the photo stream, is it possible to recover pics taken from my iPhone?

Without turning on the photo stream, is it possible to recover pics taken from my iPhone?

    MCPaulyB,
Have you found a solution to your problem? I, too, lost files during the upgrade to iOS 5.0. My files in Pages, Numbers and Keynote disappeared although the update said they'll be saved in iCloud. They simply vanished after the update.

  • Images missing GPS info in photo library

    hey everyone,
I've been using iPhone taking picture and screenshot, import images from other app like GoPro App, wechat, etc,
I'm pretty sure before not only the photo taken by iPhone build-in camera has the GPS info, the rest image also has that GPS information, it was before my recently update.
Now i'm using iPhone 5 with Macbook iPhoto 9.6.1, all the images except those taken by iPhone build-in camera are missing the GPS info!!
Can anyone tell me what just happened? is that update really did something, or there is an setting I can bring them back?
    thanks for the answer..

i never actual use these forums, only came across this Q while browsing google for some developer info on ios gps dictionary keys and why ios when taking pics wont use the gps acquired date/time for the kCGImagePropertyGPSDateStamp//kCGImagePropertyGPSTimeStamp in photo meta tag fields even tho it has the gps co-ords stored. i'll stick stackoverflow so
no point asking wjosyen thats for sure even with his level 9(?) because god knows what useless comment he will reply with (so in these discussions boards can u win points in give-aways or in follow the dots drawing competitions?)

  • GPS info in MobileMe Gallery pictures.  Google Map?

I took pictures on my iPhone, downloaded them into iPhoto, and made sure the GPS info was in the files. I created a MobileMe gallery, uploaded it, and checked to discover that when you click on the "i" icon in the MobileMe gallery from a web browser the GPS info doesn't show. I want to send my MobileMe Gallery link to somebody and have them see on something like a Google Map where they were taken. Is this not possible?

Same for me: iPhoto prefs are ok (prefs - web - include location info), but still no data in Mobileme Gallery. Is this a bug, will this be updated soon? Some people succeed to get some pictures done, I don't get any!! (http://gallery.me.com/altosaxo#100631)

  • Best way to record GPS info in Aperture

Each time I take a batch of photos with my Nikon D60 I take a photo with my iPhone 4S to record the location. What's the best way to get this GPS info into Places in Aperture? Or should I bother using the iPhone at all and use another method of recording the location in Places? I shoot wildlife with an extreme telephoto lens, so I can't use the iPhone alone for this type of photography. I am told there are stand alone devices for this, but some kind of batch copy of the metadata from the iPhone seems to make sense. Any easy ways to accomplish this?

A very easy way to transfer the gps from your iPhone image to the wildlife images taken with the other camera is the Lift&Stamp HUD. Import your iPhone image with EXIF GPS-tags, then lift all tags from this image, deselect all but the GPS coordinates in the Lift&Stamp HUD, select the images taken at the same location in the browser, and click "Stamp selected Images".
The versions will now be stamped with the same GPS data.
You may also display the images you want to geocode together with your iPhone image in "Places" View anddrag all images taken at the same location to the pin of the  iPhoto image on the map in "Places" View,
But there is one draw-back: both mehods will only geocode the current version, the gps witll not be written to the original master files.
If you want your master files to be geocoded, you will have to assign the GPS tags before you import your images into Aperture.  For example, I record the gps tracks with a Garmin gps or an AMOD tracker, and geocode the master image files using Geotagalog or Jetphoto Studio, before I import them into Aperture. You could do the same with the free exiftool (commndline tool).

  • HT4847 I'm new to iPhone and iCloud... I have lots of pics on my iPhone but only some appear on my iPad, they're in Camera Roll on the phone but random ones only have come into Photos on the iPad - can anyone help? Thanks!

I'm new to iPhone and iCloud... I have lots of pics on my iPhone but only some appear on my iPad, they're in Camera Roll on the phone but random ones only have come into Photos on the iPad - can anyone help? Thanks!

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Photostream when enabled will only add photos from the camera roll that were taken post photostream activation. (Photostream does not currently share video)
Photostream only syncs photos over Wi-Fi, make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi to begin with.
Photostream only syncs when the camera app is closed, ensure it is closed.
Photostream only syncs when the battery is above 20%, try recharging the device
Try disabling photo stream on your device (settings > iCloud), restarting your device and then re-enabling photo stream.

  • HT1414 Is it possible backup pics from my Iphone after restoring??please help!!

Is it possible to backup all pics on my Iphone 4s after restoring? I got back contacts, but how to backup my pics and videos? Please help!!

You should be importing all pics and vids taken with your iphone to your comuter regularly as you would with any digital camera, particularly before any update or restore.
If you failed to do this, then they are likely gone.
You can try restoring from backup

Have tried re-building database and it crashed
Library is located on Path: /Users/New User/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Library on my Hard Disk
No updates or upgrades prior to problems
Managed or Referenced Library, my version does not appear to have this option?
I'm running a Mac Pro and my main drive of 3 hard drives has 238.24 GB of available space
The strange thing is I have 3 different logins, one for my iphone, one for my partners iphone and one for our ipad, when I back my phone up I have 3000+ photo's in iphoto and it crashes when it gets to the last 300 or so, same for my partners iphone which has 2000+ photo's, but I tried the ipad which has 600 pictures on the library and it back-up fine without crashing?
I look forward to your reply and thanks in advance for your help/reply

  • Print pictures out taken from iPhone

How can I transfer pics taken from my iPhone so I can print them out?

When you sync your iPhone on your PC, you have the option to pull the pics off of it and store in a seperate file. From there, you just print as a normal picture from your PC.
