PICT file (transparent background) - motion (from off screen left to right)

I have a PICT file with a transparent background. I imported it and put it in a track above a photo. Basically I just want to to go from off screen left to off screen right. I tried selecting the pict image, going to the motion tab and using keyframes in the ‘centre’ option to move the image off to the sides. The problem is that when I view it, its almost like every second/third line of pixels lags (Making the edges jagged).
The edges of the image are fine when there is no motion, and it seems to get worse the more distance it is traveling.
The only thing I have changed is the 'quick time video settings compressor'; it is ‘none’ because that is the only way I could find that wouldn’t end up messing up the sides of the image when I imported it.
I have been using final cut for about 3 hours? So I am not sure what to do, or if I am even approaching this problem the right way. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated
I am currently trying to find a way to get a screen shot, but can’t get it to paste into any programs I have….

Edit: this happens when ever I do any scaling/movement/rotation/etc...
Here is an example of what I mean:

  • Text, going from off screen right to off screen left

using the basic type text button I want to type in a word and make it come from off screen right across the screen and off left.
I can see every perameter in there apart from that one. I can change fonts, colurs, tranparency, but I want to use the key frmaes to go to off screen right move across the screen dead hgorizontal and finsih off screen left.
Now I have done this by moving mouse to canvas and dragging it there.
The problem is with htat is I may not be at the exact same horizontal value on the left sice ( finish ) as I was from the start ( begin ) so it might travel up hill slighly.
Why is there not a right to left slider that I can use that makse sure that I dont mess with other values,
So how can I do this very simple move easier please?
    regards
    Daz

First, you're going to get better quality using the boris text 3d rather than the plain text option.
But working the way you are, you can simply double click on your clip in the timeline, open the motion tab in the viewer and adjust the numeric value for the vertical position to match for each keyframe beginning to end. For best quality, use a whole number for the vertical position. I suspect that a little work with the manuals will help you here.
Using boris text 3d and the controls tab (rather than the text generator you've been using), will give you better quality as each frame of text is generated for optimum quality (technically, the boris text is vector generated rather than bitmapped).

Very many thanks to you, Putaro!  Your answer provided the solution. It was a buggy plug-in that turned out to be the culprit.
You're off the hook, Apple, and my apologies for stating that you let a dog run loose. You skated by this time, Apple. But I'm watching you.
But again, Putaro's reference to the plugins I had installed over the years turned out to illuminate the problem. I have several plugins in my iTunes plugins folder, pretty much all designed to add more visualizer functionality. I removed all of them, and ALL of the problems I noted in my post went away, with full iTunes functionality restored.
I began adding the plugins back to hopefully single out the culprit. Among the ones I had been using included fielder, G-Force, Timestrech, volcanokit, QuartzComposer, and Jax. I hadn't used any of them in a while - probably at least a verison or more back in iTunes updates, but iTunes continued to work with all of them installed. Currently, only QuartzComposer continues to work in iTunes 10.4. The rest no longer even show up as visualizer opitons, with one exception. Jax does show up, but does not work. AND THE PRESENCE OF JAX IS WHAT KILLED MY ITUNES.
I looked into it and went back to the developer, and it appears that they discontinued developing Jax some time ago - evidently, it was buggy and crash prone. I remember after buying it, having problems with it - having never worked to its touted potential, but I didn't pursue it, and never uninstalled it. Leaving it in there caused all iTunes functionality to cease with the iTunes 10.4 update.
If you've got Jax installed, consider removing it before updating to iTunes 10.4.
My iTunes is now working right as rain, thanks again to Putaro!

  • When Safari is in full screen, the window slides off screen to the right after a short period of time.  How do I fix this?

When Safari is in full screen, window slides off screen to the right after a few seconds.  Does not happen if Safari is not full screen.  How do I fix this?

You are probably inadvertently swiping to another full-screen app. Are you using a magic trackpad? Does this happen without you touching anything?

  • Composition widget to be full screen left to right

    Hi,
I would like for my composition widget to be full screen left to right with the browser window but a fixed height. Has anyone done this? Thanks.

Refer to this thread for suggestions on how to achieve something like this using jQuery plugins.

  • Has anyone tried emailing after the Yosemite upgrade?  The size of the email pane is enormous and cannot be resized so I cannot see what I am typing as it disappears off screen to the right.  This must surely be a fault?

The email window pane is huge and disappears off screen and I have not found any way to resize it.  This means I cannot see what I am typing as the text disappears to the right off the screen.  Only way to see what you are typing is to drag the pane to the left and then back again when the cursor moves to a new line.  This surely must be a fault with the new Yosemite OS X?

Thanks, Bee!  I never knew that one--it does resize the screen.  But, what I want to do is resize it from the corner, or from the side, or from the top.  I'd like to move it to another place on the page, if I need to. The bigger problem is that I can no longer click and drag to highlight a word or phrase, etc.  Both of these things happened in Office and in Safari after I downloaded Yosemite. I feel sure that it is just some little trick like the one you suggested or some box that I need to tick to get things working like I've always known them to be.  Thanks for any help you can give...

  • When I expand a photo it will slide off screen to the right and won't stay centered

When I expand a photo it will slide of the screen to the right and won't stay centered. It also very hard to get to the close button when this happens which is bottom right of picture.

    Hello MCoyne50,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like when you are viewing a photo in the Safari app and you zoom in on it, the photo moves to the right on its own and it cannot be moved back.
I would try a couple of things here.
First quit all the apps that art running and then restart the phone to test the issue again.
From the Home screen, click the Home button twice.
Tap and hold on the app.
When it starts to jiggle, tap the - to close it.
Double-click the Home button and try opening the app again.
From: iOS: Force an app to close
              http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    Then
    Restarting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
From: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

    Take care,

  • Scrolling text from off screen?

Hi.. I am wondering how to accomplish having text that spans 4-5 screen lengths scrolling by? In all my attempts FCP seems to crop the text at 720x480, thus making it impossible to reveal what is off the screen...

I've found the best way to get a good text scroll, for all but the simplest things, is to make the text in another application (Photoshop, GIMP, Illustrator, Inkscape, or whatever you prefer), ideally saved as a PNG or some other format with transparency, and then have FCP (or Motion, if you have it) move it as a graphic object instead of as text.

  • Background sound from aquarium screensaver left behind, continues to play

    Greetings,
I have a very strange problem. Last week, I downloaded the D Desktop Aquarium Screensaver 1.7 from Apple's "Downloads" section. When the screensaver is activated, it plays this bubbling sound in the background. I removed the screensaver because I thought I could set the options to make it look like a real aquarium.
For some reason, the sound remains. It starts to play when the current screen saver (it doesn't matter which one) begins to run, so does the sound. However, when I begin to work on the machine, the sound continues! The screensaver does deactivate.
I looked in the Sounds folder inside the System directory but didn't find the culprit sound. I don't even know what its called so I cannot use Search.
Is there some where else I need to look? Does anyone have a name so I can search for it? Does anyone know how I can turn this (now categorized as ) noise? I appreciate any help - and I promise, no comparisons to other OS's.

I assume you deleted the trial.saver file from your /Library/Screen Savers/ folder.
What if you were to reinstall it, switch to a different screensaver and then delete it?

  • Why does iphoto want to chop off the left and right sides of the photo I'm trying to print?

Trying to print a group photo.  Using the borderless setting, I still always lose half of the persons at the end of the rows.  Why won't iphoto allow me to print the entire picture?

It actuallyhelps if you provide details including version of iPhoto and of the OS and what you are doing
with absolutely nothing but a problem my guess is that the print size is a different ratio than the photos size so somehting has to be left off - for example you can not print an 8x10 photo on a 4x5 piect of paper - depending on the camera you have your photos are either in a 3:2 ratio or a 4:3 ratio - the paper must be the same - or you must crop the photos to the paper size - or you must go to the customize screen and right click on the preview and fit to frame
onc eyou provide basic information more specific help can be provided

  • Firefox comes up with a split screen, left and right. Is this normal? (I don't like it, and would prefer to have only one pane open upon logging in.)

Firefox comes up with a split screen, the right side of which is the one I want to retain as the only opening window (blank), and the left side of which (a sign-on page for a favourite site) I would like not to have sitting there. Is this normal? Or did I somehow (erroneously) make it happen? How can I get rid of the left pane so that only one pane (the right, 'blank') appears when I log on to Firefox?

Opening in the Sidebar is the default action for bookmarks that are created via a "Bookmark this Page" link or button on a website. Make sure you use the many "Bookmark this Page" methods that are in Firefox instead.
Right-click that bookmark and select '''Properties''', then un-check the preference for '''Load this bookmark in the sidebar''', and then click Save.

  • Mc - cut & paste file or folder in the same panel (left or right)

it is possible in midnight commander cut some folder and then pasting it to the path with some keyshort? I know it can make with two panels using F6 , but that no solution to my question. I want to make it in one panel: in Left or in Right
example: path: /mnt/xhc/folder/misc - cut "misc" and paste it to /mnt/xhc/

Ah, now I see.  I haven't used MC in a while - I'm not sure if there is any easy way to do that.  You could write your own script(s) and bind keys to them.  But this would require a buffer to store the "cut" directory.  I'm not sure MC has such a buffer.
You may want to check out Vifm or Ranger.  Ranger is quite popular in the arch community, but personally I prefer Vifm.  Vifm is very similar to MC, but *much* more flexible and powerful.  (Ranger is also very flexible and powerful - but a different style as it isn't a two-pane style manager).

  • Unable to open a new page  with transparent background.

I must have hit something (or maybe several things), because suddenly I can't open a new page in Photoshop (CS2). I can see it's picking up  the white background color (from the lower left corner of the tool menu), but I can't figure out how to change it. Also  noticed that  my camera is suddenly automatically savings  pix  as jpgs (instead of tiffs) which I think I read somewhere prevents removing the white background color . . . but even if I start by trying to create an empty transparent background and  pasting my graphic into it (which is what I usually do), it still loads as a white one.
After fighting with the software for the past 2 hours, maybe I'm just too confused to see the obvious. I  do know how to get a transparent background  when all is running smoothly. (Have been doing it for years, without running into problems.) It's figurng out what the problem is tonight that has  me running in circles. The answer probably is staring me in the face, but  if it is, I can't see it. I need  help . . . PLEASE!

Yes. When I select  all and edit/clear  the screen stays white.
Unfortuantely, it alsois not allowing me to grab a screen shot. I've tried both keystrokes and "Grab" (in  Application Utilities.)
But the  image in the layers panel is easy to describe.
    1) When I open a new  PS document and click on transparent, the icon is a small rectangle with a double line border that has a white space midway on each side.
Whether it is active or hidden, the  box next to it just says "layer 1" (i.e., not background.
In this mode, the Transparency & Gamut settings  show the following:
    Grid Size    Medium
    Grid Colors  Light
Below that are 2 empty boxes
In the bottom section, Gamut Warning shows a darkened out  Square. A both ends of the Opacity bar (1% and 100%) it remains unchanged.
When I add an image, it does not add a layer. The icon just changes to a thumbnail of the image.
If I don't change them, the  Transparency  & Gamut  pane remains unchanged.
point, I'm running out of time, so would switch to  that other Adobe  Application  (with fewer options and tools, which came on the same disk as another Adobe  graphic program ), but can't search for  it on my computer because I don't remember it's name.  But since it's not in the application folder, if it was not compatible with  System 10, I may have removed it. By any chance do you know which  application I'm referring to?
