Picto colors configuration

Hi All,
I have a question about Photoshop capabilities.
I'm a mobile application developer, and using photoshop to generate icons, using overlays, and so on. Everything is ok, but I deal with a lots of icons sometimes, and I reuse some of them from application to application. The problem is when icons contains multiples colors, preventing me from using some overlay, resulting in a lot of manipulations.
Here is my problem.
Imagine I have something like 10 icons. Each pictures use multiples shared colors (3 for example).
I would like to known if it is possible to have a PSD file, where I can configure 3 colors somewhere, that will be use in all my icons.
My main objective is to be able to quickly change my primary color for example, and generate alls icons based on it. I can then use a script to automatically cut / export them all.
Is this kind of thing is possible ?
My first guess is to use some kind of photoshop script, automatically applying colors to my layer style.
Does it seems possible to you ?
If so, do you have some example that achieve some similar point ? Some documentation to help me ?
Thanks a lot.
Regards

Hi JimHess
I thank you for help. I clicked right bottom mouse and select "show all".
it worked ok, my HSL/color/black came back to my display. I was using a
Bamboo pen at this time, and some wrong click with it hided the
HSL/color/black, I supose.
Best regards,
Credilson

  • Cannot read track number box if using dark color configuration

    The color options are fantastic in 3.0 but for one single problem. If configured to a dark color - I use a very deep blue - the Track number box in multitrack mode cannot be read without putting the cursor in the window (then it blinks brightly because it is highlighted and ready to be relabeled). It seems that it needs to be programmed to show against any color configuration, without having to place the cursor there.

    >So who decided to "fix" it?
    Hmm... this all happened with AA2.0 initially - and that was done to an Adobe corporate (grey) plan, to all intents and purposes. There are some things that are bigger than all of us, it would seem...
    I suppose that in an ideal world, a lot of people would say that being able to 'skin' Audition would be the answer, but that doesn't really do it for me, I'm afraid. My attitude to this is quite simple; Audition is a tool, and I don't care what colour it is, as long as it works properly. Yes, it should look okay, but mostly that's to do with being able to see what's necessary at any given time, and by and large, I can.
    But, doing what you want could be regarded as an option, and as I've said elsewhere, I think that options are a Good Thing. The only snag is that I rather suspect that more colour options will come some way down the priority list -
    unless, that is, they are easy to do. In that case you perhaps stand a better chance!

  • Is there a way to disallow web pages to modify foreground color of elements if background of those elements was not changed as well (and vice versa)?

    I have very sensible defaults for my display; i.e. I have dark GTK scheme (dark gray background, light gray text) that suits me way more when working on my computer while it's dark around. I, however, like looking at web pages as how they were mean to be seen. Unfortunately, most of web designers don't think about anyone having non-default colors set up.
    Example one ( http://www.cedok.cz ):
    This site's CSS style has "color: rgb(45, 45, 45);" for the whole <body> but for <select> elements there is no "background-color" set. This means there is a select box rendered with dark gray background and dark gray foreground (text color). This is pretty badly readable (obviously).
    To mention one particular element from this site: e.g. <select id="ctl00_ContentPlaceHolderLevySloupec_HledaniMultiTab1_HledaniZajezdu1_ddlTypZajezdu">
    Example two ( https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new/desktop/customize/form ):
    On this page (where I'm currently filling in this question) the <textarea id="id_content"> has "background: ... rgb(255, 255, 255);" set, but with my default font color, this textarea is rendered as light gray text on a white background. Again, pretty unreadable (and eye-hurting).
    I can provide screenshots and more reasoning if needed.
    I'm asking if there is (or might be) an option (even disabled by default) or at least an add-on which would keep default colors unless both foreground and background colors were specified. I think this might make Firefox very usable for many people which like to have their default colors configured.
    In case you won't be able to help me by fixing this, could you redirect me to the right place where I could get this requested in a way that might be really possible to happen (bugzilla?).
    Thank you very much in advance.

    Thanks for the reply, but I'm sorry, no. I don't want any addon that customizes colors, I want to use default colors and only prohibit changing them unless both background and foreground colors are changed.
    I have made no color changes WRT to Firefox *only*, I just changed the default for the whole toolkit (gtk in this case). The thing I need is to disable changing *only one* property out of two ({back,fore}ground). Whenever the second one gets set as well, this new setting (both of them) may get reflected, but not before that. It'd be nice to keep this when changing the colors back (deleting the style), but that's not necessary.
    I hope that's understandable, feel free to ask for if that's not the case.
    To express what I mean a bit more precisely, see the attached image. In that image there are four textareas (one of the elements that gets affected by this). First one is a default one (which I want to have if the page has nothing set), the second one is nicely modified to fit for example to a blue-ish page (this one I like as well).
    Second row of textareas shows how the final element looks like if the page has only one of these elements set up. First one changes background without changing font color, the second one vice versa. Both of them are very badly readable, especially with low lighting around.
    This is consequently the same case when it comes to default page background which I cannot set at all, because too many pages have only "color:" set without changed background and that is completely messed up then. Going to extremes, I might mention all color-related modifications (see how ugly the borders look when the background is changed and nothing is done to these borders, their size and color is kept default), but I understand that's too much.

    At some point, I changed the colors configuration of the Firefox browser window. Perhaps it was something offered in your features. Nonetheless, I like the choices of colors for backgrounds and fonts, but strangely the Menubar is both very dark blue in color, and the font color is black. As a consequence, I have to select the menu options by memory rather than choice; I would prefer reading the options.
    My operating system is Kubuntu Meerkat. Usually changing such things is an easy configuration adjustment, however, under your 'preferences' of the edit menu, I could not find a method for improving design error, ie. dark background color/dark font. If possible, I would like to lighten the background to get contrast with the font, or lighten the font color of the Menubar, which is actually preferable. The preferable color is the light gold as used for the other font entries.
    Can and will you help me? Thanks in advance. Shabakthanai

    Check out the link that was posted above.  You've got a few things in there that might be causing issues...
    Also, you have set color15 and color4 to black when they should be white and blue respectively.  This can definitely cause problems, because some applications will assume the default colors are being used and will place white on black (color15 on color0); in your case the end result is black on black.

  • New iMac (late 2012) and display configuration

    Dear Friends,
    I have bought the new imac and I need your help configure the space color I wish to use on it.
    I use a Canon 60D to take photos in RAW (CR2) and it is configurated to use Adobe RGB color space (for both RAW and JPEG). When I checked the imac color configuration, it shows me "imac Profile" and other profies, Adobe RBG including. The problem is, when I select show profiles for this display only, it hides both sRGB and Adobe RGB!
    Can't I use Adobe RGB the the new imac? If I can, how can I configurate my imac in order to use Adobe RGB. I would like to highlight that, at the moment I selected Adobe RGB, the colors of my wallpaper (the original imac walpaper) gone...
    Another question is: can I set my monitor to use Adobe RGB when using Adobe Lightroom only?
    Thanks a lot!

    I'm disappointed to know that my new iMac is not compatible with Adobe RGB, mainly because I bought it to use with photos. Anyway, I'll try some configurations and let you know if I have some success. Maybe someone within the Community can give some light for us.
    Thanks a lot!
    You have a slight mis-understanding as to just what a color profile is and how it relates to color spaces, I believe. This can be an extremely complex subject, and volumes have been written about it, but in general...
    Simply speaking a color profile maps individual color elements (pixel) values between color spaces.  Your Canon 60D generates images in one of two color spaces, Adobe RGB or sRGB (I have a 7D and 5D Mk III).  Using sRGB doesn't have as wide a color space as Adobe RGB, but it is entirely suitable for images to be displayed on the web where most of the display devices are closest to sRGB in their native, i.e. uncalibrated, state.  Most users never calibrate their monitors so sRGB is always the best choise for the widest audience on the web.
    I always take pictures in RAW and use Adobe RGB.  When I edit my images in Photoshop or LIghtroom I tell the software that I wish to edit in the color space Prophoto RGB which is a wider color space than Adobe RGB and allows more accurate editing of the colors.  Adobe RGB color values are said to be mapped to the ProPhoto RGB color space by the software.  It is possible to do this conversion very accurately for two reasons.  One, ProPhoto RGB is a wider color space than Adobe RGB, and two, the attributes of both color spaces are precisely defined.
    There are three basic actions you can choose from to get your prints to be close to what you see on your monitor.
    The first is to use the 'iMac' color profile already on your iMac.  This profile was created to provide proper color space conversion for the average or nominal iMac display and any given display can deviate appreciably from this 'nominal' display.  It is a decent place to start if you're not too picky about color representation.
    The second thing you could do is calibrate your monitor yourself.  The most attractive method pricewise is to use the iMac's built in calibration capability.  This will in all likelyhood not be very accurate as it uses the Mark One Eyeball (yours) to make the color comparisons and the eye doesn't do a good job at this because so many variables that you cannot control have an effect on the process.  It can get you close, though, and may be satisfactory for you (it isn't for me, but I'm extremely picky about color).
    The third thing you could do is purchase a color calibration system.  These range in cost from around $100 US to several thousand.  Look for offerings from companies such as DataColor (Spyder series) and X-Rite.
    Basically a color calibration system uses a hardware device to measure the actual colors as displayed by your monitor vs standard pixel colors. It does this for all pixel color values. From this series of measurements the calibration software will create a profile that will accurately map any color space with a defined profile to be a 'best fit' on your individual monitor (iMac display). This method will get your colors to be much closer than the eye ever could.
    Regardless of which method you choose I suggest delve deeper into color profiles and color spaces.  A good place to start is Jeffrey Friedl's Blog.

  • Edge color suddenly changed in captured slides

    I have Captivate 4. I recently completed a series of Captivate simulations, all of which appear to have a black edge.
    Today I was making some tweaks to the simulations and recorded some new slides. The new slides appear to have a blue edge (matches the menubar of the captures). They also are of a slightly different size. I tried re-recording and had same result. See JPGs of Captivate slides below:
    I did not (knowingly?) make any changes to the Captivate settings. I used the same computer resolution and theme. I don't know what determines the edge color. I thought that Captivate 4 used a black edge, so I'm not sure what's going on.The border settings and skins are identical between the versions with black and version with blue orders, as are the record settings.
    I'm rather puzzled by this. Any suggestions? Thank you!

    Hi again
    Most interesting situation. Not one I recall ever seeing here before.
    Admittedly, I'm stumped. I'm inclined to believe it's got something to do with graphics and/or color settings. (Number of colors configured for the OS, graphics effects, etc)
    I'm assuming here that when you view the systems that seem to produce the black edge, that the windows appear with no black edge? There isn't by chance a Highlight Box surrounding the window is there? What does the Timeline show for the affected slides?
    Cheers... Rick

    Ah well theres the problem
    Theres plenty of software out there that will do a better job. However, if you want to stick with Media Maker, check that you have the latest version (v2.0 I believe) from Windows Update.

  • Color schema or color background

    It is really strange that the desktop application has only the black font on withe backgroud.
    I think that some color schema and a free color configuration must be provided.
    Shezan

    Here are the 3 solutions which would help
    1. Select Quick selection tool (Shortcut A). Now drag over the image to select the background which is bright white. Now choose "Layers Menu>New Adjustment Layer>Brightness Contrast" and then press "OK" . Then move the sliders for brightness until you seems to get the desired result.
    2. You can like wise use the   Hue Saturation  adjustment layer command.
    3. Another way is to  first select the background which is bright white using quick selection tool . Then select the Burn Tool (Press "O" thric) . Now for range option select  "Hightlights". Choose a soft brush .  Now paint over the background . Adjust the exposure slider (Which determines the strength of burn tool) until you get the desired result.

  • Need help with scanning old photos

    Hi,
    I appologize in advance for the long post, but here it goes - I am an ultra newby and have been trying to figure out the best method of scanning and retouching. I have a new Epson V330 photo scanner and currently scan in 24-bit color at 300 dpi for most photos and 600 dpi for small photos like wallet size. I leave all the adjustment options OFF (unsharp mask, descreening, color resoration, backlight correction, dust removal) as I think that stuff should be done in photoshop. I save the scans as tiff files. In the tiff options box there is a checkbox that says "embed icc profile" although I don't know what profile it is embeding.
    I have recently been reading about color space and color profiles. I dug around in the setup for the epson and see that I could be scanning in 48 bid color (do I need that) and that there is a color configuration.  Currently it is set to "color control, continuous auto exposure. Display gamma: 2.2. Auto exposure level (right in the middle of low and high). The other options are ICM and no color correction.
    If I click on ICM, there is a source dropdown list, but the only thing there is "Epson standard". Then there is a target dropdown and the choices sRGB, Monitor RGB, Adobe RGB, Apple RGB, and ColorMatch RGB. There is then a check box that says "display preview using monitor compensation".
    If you are still reading this, what settings do you recommend I use?
    Thank you for your time.
    Brian

    If you are getting satisfactory results you may not need to change.
    For color, Epson will scan using its source profile.  Question is if and where best to make a conversion to other profiles such as AdobeRGB.  If you will be processing all your scans through Photoshop you can let Photoshop make this conversion to your Photoshop color working space when opening scan image file.
    If you won't be making tonal adjustments in Photoshop, probably 24-bit color will be sufficient (if you're satisfied with image appearance).  Likewise for auto exposure.  But if you find that you want to adjust the black or white points or tone curve then 48-bit may give you better results.  You can change mode to 24-bit RGB in Photoshop after you've made your adjustments.
    There are some functions that may better be performed closest to scanning by scan software.  Descreening is one, IME; although if you're scanning photo prints or transparencies you are not likely to need descreening.  You'll want to experiment with dust removal and sharpening to see what works best for your images.  Dust removal in particular you may find better-done by the scan software, particularly for transparencies (select Digital ICE).
    Another step to try: open your scan tiff in camera raw and apply nondestructive adjustments there before opening in Photoshop -- particularly sharpening and noise reduction.

  • Colour Format Help

    I am a designer and not a Java programmer - don't hate me - and i am using a small calendar applet on a web page. This has color configured from javascript parameters as follows:
    <param name=bgcolor      value=13684944>
    <param name=bgcolor2      value=14737663>
    <param name=bgcolor3      value=400>
    <param name=t_col1      value=400>
    <param name=t_col2      value=8421520>
    <param name=t_col3      value=14737663>
    Can anyone tell me how these numbers relate to either HEX or RGB. I have tried simply placing RGB figures in there but they do not bear ant relationship to the standard color tables....HELP????!!!!

    Yes, thats true,
    It must be using format like:
    int r = (0x00ff0000)>>16;
    int g = (0x0000ff00)>>8;
    int b = 0x000000ff;
    where r=255, g=255, b=255 this case, but if
    long r = 0x00ff0000;
    long g = 0x0000ff00;
    long b = 0x000000ff;
    which give you r=16711680, g=65280, b=255....make sense?

  • How to Reset Emacs Colorscheme

    I'm not 100% sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes:
    I downloaded a colorscheme from GitHub and put it into the .emacs.d folder (because that's the custome-theme-load-path). I used the M-x customize-themes command to load the theme and save it. After later deciding that I didn't want the theme anymore I unchecked the box, saved the configuration, and deleted the elisp file. Now every time I start up Emacs I still see that theme even though the file with the colors is deleted. So obviously that meant that Emacs was saving my color configuration somewhere else. I went through and removed Emacs with a "pacman -Rsn" and cleaned the cache. I deleted my .emacs, the .emacs.d folder, and /usr/share/emacs. Yet when I reinstall Emacs the theme is still there. Does anybody know where else Emacs might be saving my configuration? Thanks.

    I don't use emacs, but you could also check in ~/.local/share and ~/.cache - or perhaps a quicker test would be to temporarily create a new user or run emacs as root.  If with a new and/or root user the issue is gone, then you know you should hunt in your home directory.  And beyond the usual suspects you could do a `find ~ -name '*macs*'` to find anything related to emacs.

  • Formatting a combined dual chart - which svg commands necessary?

    Hello all,
    I have a combined dual chart (two columns and one line) as shown in the picture below. I'd like to format the following things:
    - color of columns (costs in one color and Incoming Order List in a different)
    - color of outer ticks of both y-axis
    - hiding the minor gridline of y-axis
    I changed both y-axis colors with this svg-css lines:
    .chart-style-1 g.v-m-yAxis g.viz-axis-body.v-body path.v-fixed-valueaxisline {stroke: #dbcbcb;}
    .chart-style-1 g.v-m-yAxis2 g.viz-axis-body.v-body path.v-fixed-valueaxisline {stroke: #dbcbcb;}
    For the outer tick lines I tried this - but it didn't work:
    .chart-style-1 g.v-m-yAxis g.viz-axis-body.v-body line.v-fixed-valueaxisline {stroke: #dbcbcb;}
    I also tried to hide the minor gridline with this command (also no impact):
    .chart-style-1 g.v-m-yAxis g.viz-axis-body.v-body line.v-gridline {stroke-width: 0;}
    The color configuration of a dual chart is very limited. You can only set colors for 2 series and Design Studio colors the y-axis as well. There is no color configuration for the individual measures anymore.
    Does anyone has an idea of how the SVG commands in CSS has to be for changing the colors of columns and outer ticks and hide the minor gridline?
    Thanks,
    Andreas

    Hi Andreas,
    After using the following CSS:
    /* Y-AXIS: change color for the side Y-AXIS lines */
    .chart-style-1 g.v-m-yAxis g.viz-axis-body.v-body path.v-fixed-valueaxisline {stroke: pink;}
    .chart-style-1 g.v-m-yAxis2 g.viz-axis-body.v-body path.v-fixed-valueaxisline {stroke: pink;}
    /* Y-AXIS: For the outer tick lines */
    /* change color */
    .chart-style-1 g.v-m-yAxis g.viz-axis-body.v-body line.v-fixed-valueaxisline {stroke: black;}
    .chart-style-1 g.v-m-yAxis2 g.viz-axis-body.v-body line.v-fixed-valueaxisline {stroke: black;}
    /* or hide */
    .chart-style-1 g.v-m-yAxis g.viz-axis-body.v-body line.v-fixed-valueaxisline {stroke-width: 0;}
    .chart-style-1 g.v-m-yAxis2 g.viz-axis-body.v-body line.v-fixed-valueaxisline {stroke-width: 0;}
    /* set colors for measures */
    /* measure 1 and 2 displayed as bars */
    .chart-style-1 g.v-column g.v-datashape:nth-child(1) rect.v-datapoint.v-morphable-datapoint {fill: gold;}
    .chart-style-1 g.v-column g.v-datashape:nth-child(2) rect.v-datapoint.v-morphable-datapoint {fill: orange;}
    /* measure 3 displayed as line */
    .chart-style-1 g.v-m-plot g.v-module g.v-datalines path.v-lines.v-morphable-line {stroke: silver;}
    .chart-style-1 g.v-m-plot g.v-module g.v-markers.v-datashapesgroup path.v-datapoint.v-morphable-datapoint {fill: silver;}
    /* adjust colors for measures in the legend to match adjusted colors in the bars/lines */
    .chart-style-1 g.v-legend-content g.v-row.ID_0 path {fill: gold;}
