Picture as background. no filling.

Hey there,
is it possible to submit a picture as a backround without any fillings. i want to see the pic only. no filling or something.
cant figure out how. i managed it to have no filling on top and on the left side and below. but theres allways one at the ride side.

Background/ broweser fill not showing up in preview

In the website I am currenlt building I tried adding a picture as the browser fill, it shows the result in the workspace but when I press preview or even preview in browser the background does not show up it is just the default grey. Even if I take the picture down and try to simply change it to a color, it wont change in the preview just stays grey. I need to add a new page and paste all I have into it to be able to change backgrounds again, but I can only do colors no images otherwise I run into the same issue. I have no idea what to do, a few images do work but a lot of them dont and I don't know why, I tried .psd .jpeg .png and sizes from 150kb to 5mb, still can't figure out what the problem is.
PS. I have the same issue on both my laptop and desktop (they even run different operating systems, Win7 and Win8) I just don't get it, nor what I can do.
Edit: I just so happen to realize something 7 minutes after posting this while having the problem for 2 days, I have a large HTML element on the page. The issue occurs only when it is on the page, (it is basically a PDF that got converted into HTML). Still not sure how to fix the issue though

They will not re-align if I drag the page smaller.
That's because you are using a combination of AP divs and tables. AP divs are taken out of the flow of the page and they stay constant depending on their co-ordinates.
I've noticed that you use AP divs exclusively and I'm afraid it's not the optimum way to lay out a page... here's why:

The pages I've seen can easily be created using plain old styled divs - they don't have to be absolutely positioned at all.
You may want to check out the valildation errors - on this page;

Fixing those errors may very solve the problem.
Put your other pages through the validator and see what needs fixing:

Fix the validation errors and see where your page is at that point..

Full browser window placeholder that acts like background image fill?

I want to be able to set full browser window placeholder that acts like the background image fill function, but be able to then build in a multi-anchored horizontal parallax. The effect is like we have a background image fill, but can slide horizontally between pages as if they are in a slide show. Simultaneously, content inside the placeholder such as longer paragraphs of text can scroll down - on top of the image layer, but inside the borders of the image placeholder. You can achieve the design by using Fullscreen Slideshow in MUSE as object.
Open any page in MUSE , click on the "Object" >> Slideshow >> Fullscreen.
Click on your blank web page.
This will give you a full screen slideshow.
You can now design as per your requirement.

A simple way would be to subclass a JPanel, override it's paintComponent method to display your image and set the panel as the frame's content pane. Take a look at
JFrame#setContentPane(Component)
JPanel#paintComponent(Graphics)
and perhapt ImageIO.read(...) for loading the image.

Pictures as Background or Screensaver

Does the iPod 30GB have the ability to set pictures as backgrounds? Or are pictures just stored for viewing?

Three Numbers questions:how do you change the auto default background or fill color from white to another color to use in multiple succeeding operations? what is the formula to express the ratio of two numbers as a percent?

Hi Matt,
For short columns, the easiest method is to select the cell containing the formula, then grab the fill handle (small circle at the botom right of the selected cell) and drag down.
For long columns, use either Jerry's suggestion (copy/paste) or Insert > Fill > Fill Down.
Copy/Paste:
Select the cell containing the formula. Copy
Select from the cell containing teh formula to the end of the column. Paste.
Fill Down:
After entering the formula, and pressing enter...
Click on the column reference tab to select the whole column.
Command click on each cell above the one containing the formula to remove it from the selection.
When cell with the formula is the top cell in the selection, go Insert > Fill > Fill Down.
Pick whichever is easiest.

Background image fill div, text with padding

I have a div set up with a width of 182px, and the padding is T:15 R:10 B:15 L:20. The text in the div works with these parameters, but when I add my background image (a bar of color) also 182px, it does not fill the div, only about 75% of it. I'm learning as I go, so any advice would be appreciated.

Padding is added to the dimensions of the <div>. So your <div> is really 182px wide plus padding left and right 30px = 212px
So your background image needs to also be 212px wide.
HOWEVER if you do want your <div> to only be 182px wide set its width to 152px wide to take into account the padding.

How apply a background pattern fill that can then be properly tiled in Dreamweaver....help!

I'm doing a web page layout that someone else is going to slice and input into dreamweaver. He wants to be able to tile the background image (in dreamweaver) which is just a diamond pattern. When I created the background layer I filled it with the diamond pattern. Horizontally and vertically if I were to tile this, it will not line up. What is the easiest way to fix this? Ican't figure out how to do this short of dividing the size of my individual pattern swatch by the height and width of my art board. Sorry this is kind of hard to explain. Basically if I were to copy my art board and try and put in beside itself the diamond pattern would not butt up correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have attached the file to try and explain it better. I am fairly new to Illustartor (CS4) and it's probably something simple ..... but I have no idea what it is. Also I'm working on a mac if that makes any difference.

You only need one instance of this pattern for it to work. Send the jpg I've attached to be used as the background image for your page. I also included the revised vector if you want to hold on to it.
Basically all you had to do was expand your fill pattern by selecting Object>Fill and then ungroup everything and eliminate all but one square. Find the size of that square and then reset your document size to match it perfectly. Center the drawing on the artboard (should fit exactly), and then do a Save for Web as a jpg or other desired file type.

Can't set a picture as background

When I choose pictures that I've taken (the ones that come with the mac work great), i just see a blue background.

Try trashing this file: com.apple.desktop.plist
It's here: Home/Library/Preferences. Open the Preferences folder, locate that file and drag it to the Trash. Empty the Trash and reboot. Now, go to System Preferences/Desktop - ScreenSaver. Use the Sidebar on the left to select photos. It's ok to trash a preference file, your Mac will create a new one for you.
Run Disk Utility and Repair Disk Permissions. Disk Utility is here:
Applications/Utilities
Make sure your images are .jpg formatted. That's what Apple uses. You can see formats and image sizes for Apple Desktop Picture here: MacintoshHD/Library/DesktopPictures.

Creating a background which fills the screen

Hi,
I am simply trying to create a background to my CSS website using a div tag. At the moment, I have created a div tag which wraps around all the content div tags. Is there a way of setting this so it fills the screen of whoever visits my page, irrelevant of there screen size? All I want in my background is a colour.

Scrambled picture in background on photo booth

Have just installed leopard and have been trying to use the new background features in photo booth but the picture is breaking up and scrambling, i have both re started and power off'd but this has not helped. does anyone have a solution please?????

So they are "New" in that you have just got Leopard (Not Extra ones) ?
Ok they are somewhat Light and Colour dependant.
For Instance.
Lighting in front of you (Screen side) is much better than windows or lighting behind you.
Also if any of your clothing matches the background when you are out to the screen then that will show through. ( a top the same colour as the walls or a black top where the chair in view in the background is also black - that sort of thing - include dark hair where a shadow or dark background is)
Overhead lighting that is behind you can cause a sort of halo effect.
Having said that you seem to be saying it is at the point of the count down to the "Flash" that things seem to go awry.
This may be improved by increasing the lighting to reduce the effect of the Screen "Flash"

When will apple let us use own on pictures for background?

I am honestly a huge Apple Ipod brand and honestly would not buy anything else. however, the new Ipod nano 6g in my opinion was a little rushed. First of all i love the picture function that the Ipod has but i would like to see one of my own picture as the background not just the 11 or so preset backgrounds which to me....are a little feminineness. So, my question was when will we be able to have our own backgrounds, or why won't apple let us have our own background?

Picture colour = background colour

How can i change the background colour to the most frequent
colour of a picture? for example i load a picture of a red flower
(taking the size of the photo, therefore the red is the main
picture colour) through XML, and the background changes to red,
then i load a picture through xml of a blue picture and the
background changes to blue. any help?

You want to scan each picture and find the most weighted
color? wow.. good luck on that one.. it is possible but tbh. that
would be a huge amount of work.. www.quasimondo.com has a bunch of
image scanners (or however it's called) but that would be a huge
amount of work..
Don't you want to keep it simple and pass the bg color
together in the xml manually?
